Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the excellent performance, impressive build quality, and long battery life of the ROG Zephyrus 15.6" QHD Gaming Laptop. Many also praise its powerful GPU, lightweight design, and vibrant display, along with the keyboard. However, some users mention that the laptop can get hot, and the fan noise can be noticeable. Other criticisms include the soldered RAM, less-than-stellar speakers, and the absence of a built-in webcam.

    Quality Control Where?

I really was hoping that the poor reviews were just over exaggerating this products faults. But with the near 2k price tag, which only gets higher with a warranty, any fault out of the box cannot be justified. I would imagine that had this product been quality tested better, I would have absolutely fallen in love with it. The device feels solid, the screen was a good size and the colors seemed to be showing beautifully. The start up sound, a small slicing sound as the logo is slashed in two, made me smile and I especially loved that from the outside, it wasn't over stated that "This is a gaming laptop!", the sleek black case feels great to the touch, the keys felt nice to press and had good responses (for the most part, ill get into that soon). However, the two gripes that I did have with this laptop both stem from quality control which sadly seems to be a very common issue with people who purchased this laptop and had a poor experience. The first thing I noticed was that the screen had a decent bit of screen bleeding. On a $200 laptop I wouldn't have really cared but when you're spending so much thats unacceptable. Furthermore, the enter key had dead zones on either side of the led in its center. This meant that unless you hit the key dead center every press it would not register that you had even pressed it. These two issues seem like things that ASUS should have caught in the quality control phase of these products and it is mind boggling that so many people have similar issues with this laptop. If you want to roll the dice like I did, I'm sure some of you will get an outstanding pc. However a lot of you will probably be extremely disappointed and end up returning it due to plethora of flaws that are somehow slipping past the quality control. I wouldn't waste the time ordering and the gas needed to inevitably return it. Instead I would look elsewhere for a more consistent laptop.

So far so good! The 16GB of RAM is already plenty fast. So long as you're not running 100 Chrome tabs while browsing the web, its definitely more than enough. I've actually only been using the laptop for work purposes and hands down the processing power of both the Ryzen and the Nvidia chipset is super smooth at handling 3D rendering applications. I'm sure it would be super good at gaming as well, but if you're looking for a good Windows laptop that you can use for work applications, this is definitely a winner. Did I mention that the body is all metal? Move over Apple!

The best purchase I made from Best Buy. They are reliable and they did on time delivery. The computer I purchased from them is fast, more robust battery life, and excellent display.

This is a fantastic laptop for what you're getting! A great snappy Ryzen 9 with fantastic battery life paired with a powerful 3070 and amazing gaming performance. I personally got this because one of my favorite youtubers Dave2D had this as his daily driver and I get why! This only reason I can't give this 5/5 is because I am not a fan of all the plastic I feel on the inside of the laptop. The magnesium alloy is okay on the outside but I wanted a more premium feel, which gaming laptops generally don't have so maybe I am asking for too much.

Great laptop if you can get your hands on it right now. Really only running Warzone right now on it and it handles it perfectly. Heat is actually not much of a problem on this platform. Highly recommend

I usually have a tough time finding a laptop I actually like. The fans are usually to loud, lack of storage options, bad thermal design, or low specs for the price. This laptop offers two M.2 spots which I replaced with two 2TB NVMe drives. The fans are soft and hardly make noise even under RTX gaming. CPU and GPU perform amazingly. RAM is the only downside to this laptop. 8gb of the 16gb is soldered to the motherboard, but RAM is 3200Mhz and 16gb of RAM has been plenty so far.

Runs crazy hot but packs punch for laptop gaming. I added some RAM so I have 40GB. No problems. Bought this in 2021. For 2022, there is newer stuff out. Get that instead.

    Gaming Machine

It's a gaming machine, what else can I say. I haven't had any problems what so ever. Considering the current situation with the shortage in pc hardware, GPU's, CPU's, buying a gaming laptop isn't a bad idea. The technology is certainly here. My friends I game with have desktops and I can hang with them all day long. I'm currently in the process of buying a external monitor to bypass Invidia Optimus to gain more fps and the already small margin between my gaming buddies will be even smaller, if not better. The only thing I could slightly knock it for is the thermals. But it's expected from something so small and light, it's also manageable. I highly recommend this laptop is you can find one.

Performance wise I have no complaint at all. It just opens and runs everything super fast. However small things like 1. the boot up logo is too much of a “gamer” vibe, kinda surprised me because the overall design of the laptop is opposite of that feeling. I wish I can change/customize easier. And the boot up sound even though it can be turned off, but it actually makes the speaker sound very muffled (yeah ikr I’m confused too). Apparently this is a bug on the software. So you either have cheesy boot up sound or muffled kinda good speaker. Don’t get me wrong, the speaker itself is very impressive to me, but this bug ruins it. 2. Even though this is a good laptop, it requires a lot of tweaking to solve thermal, fan noise, battery life problems. Not hard, but I feel it shouldn’t be like this. My past experience of buying a new laptop is always just buy and use. Never had to adjust settings too much. Despise all that, I’m happy with this machine.

Great computer, no real complaints. I upgraded it almost day one though from 16gb ram to 40gb ram and then added another 1tb m.2. Runs every game on ultra, VR does wonderful on it. Most intensive game on the market right now is Microsoft Flight Sim, Non-VR I run it on Ultra, in VR I run it on High and get great fps. Perfect for the price. Glad to be a proud owner of it. can watch me play it on Twitch as my main gaming rig, username is the same as the one on here.

It lives up to the hype from reviews. Great power in a compact form. It's thin and light enough to carry around, but doesn't lose too much performance compared to the thicker gaming laptops. However I decided to wait for the newer models as it added a webcam and with higher TGP graphics card. Wish it has a 16:10 screen as well

ASUS brings a laptop together nicely! They still need to get a better software team, but hardware is A+. Windows 10- Worked great. No issues. Windows11 upgrade- had software issues lagging the OS down and bluetooth issues. Removed ASUS software and fixed OS lag. Bluetooth still an issue. Will do clean install of Win11 here soon. Should solve most all issues. Otherwise its a top 10 laptop easy. Powerful and fast. Runs everything I throw at it with loud fan but not bad enough to hear with a headset on. Monitor out via USB 3.1 turns this guy into a deasktop in a few secs. Worth the cash.
