Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the excellent performance, impressive build quality, and long battery life of the ROG Zephyrus 15.6" QHD Gaming Laptop. Many also praise its powerful GPU, lightweight design, and vibrant display, along with the keyboard. However, some users mention that the laptop can get hot, and the fan noise can be noticeable. Other criticisms include the soldered RAM, less-than-stellar speakers, and the absence of a built-in webcam.

Good gaming system - with a few odd quirks.

An overall solid model with good specs and great for on-the-go gaming, and an especially good deal when caught on sale. It has plenty of power to play games, battery life is decent, and the screen is fine. As with all gaming laptops it can get pretty hot, but if you're not using external devices then most of the heat is away from the trackpad & primary movement keys. The laptop only really has two quirks, which is what prevents a 5 star rating. - The track pad is really hard to work with and is very temperamental. It will often ignore mouse clicks, gestures, and sometimes will seem to get stuck in place and not recognize that you're trying to use it. - This laptop HATES sleeping. I have never worked with a computer that has so many issues after being woken up from the sleep state. Either disable it, extend your timer when on battery, or just shut it down. Not really sure what the issue is but at least my unit tends to be laggy and just in general perform really poorly and be unresponsive after waking up from sleep, and the keyboard will flicker randomly as well. A restart always fixes the problem.

The laptop so far is great for gaming. I recommend buying the laptop cooler. Armory Crate reputations is biased, in fact it in not bad at all, I did not have any issues with armory crate software.

Bought this laptop for my wife to game on. Excellent performance! The only complaint I might have is the fan noise when the GPU is working hard.

Day 1: So far a beast of a machine. All around faster than my 2019 XPS with I9 990HK and 32GB Ram. Screen is gorgeous. Software bloat is minimal. Charging is fast. Tools are useful.

Everything exceeded my expectations regarding performance, chassis and display. Unfortunately i also had a speaker problem with my unit on the left side. Sounded like the woofer was blown out. This sound quality is unacceptable on a laptop of this price. Tried to exchange but the laptop is sold out. So now i have to wait for them to come back in stock before i can update and see if my new unit has the same issue.

This is just an amazing laptop, beautiful and very classy. it's just a RTX 3070 Mobile but you still can play games on High or ultra if you lower to 1080p. is very light and not so heavy

This is a madness of a laptop, lightning fast and powerful! The only two drawbacks, after owning it for 8 months, are overheating while gaming and poor wifi adapter range. I keep my laptop in one spot most of the time so a cooling pad & ethernet cable solved that problem, but given the price tag I wish everything was perfect.

I had it for a week now, you have to mess up with settings a little bit, but after that it's pretty good. Nice performance with a thin and relatively light body! Good for student gamers

This laptop has been perfect for me so far. It has all of the power I need and then some. I can't really comment on the touch pad as I don't use it, but the keyboard is very nice to type on. As far as noise and heat. It does get audible when gaming. The temps do ride the edge, but it never downclocks on me and games run smooth. The screen was the biggest reason I wanted this laptop. It was one of the only ones I could find with 1440p in a laptop that was not $2K+. The screen is very nice and smooth. 165Hz is awesome. That is the same I run on my desktop. The color is good enough for me, but I am not an artist or anything like that.

This laptop is a powerhouse. So far it exceeded my expectations. If you’re trying to stream at 1080p with ultra settings, this one will work wonders. My only problem is that the keyboard lighting isn’t supported by aura creator so you can’t really change the color of it yet. It’s pretty expensive though.

My laptop ended up giving me a headache from the coil whine- and this was after an exchange. I've also had some issues with the speakers and backlight bleeding. The performance is great, but the quality is definitely mixed.

Liked Light weight computer Great Graphics Card Games play at good resolution at highest frame setting SSD is very fast and responsive Disappointed Does not have a webcam in built. In this day and age this is a big miss. Needed to get an external webcam, connected via USB which means another ugly cable hanging on the side of the laptop.

I nabbed this laptop when it was on sale during Black Friday because of a dire need for a new laptop (my old one was dying, and fast), and I'm really glad I did, since it's miles better than my old one. I did do the due diligence of reading up on reviews and issues with this model beforehand, though I've faced little to none of the "common" issues, e.g. backlight bleed, audio issues, etc. I did have a few software issues with Windows 10 (since I opted against the Windows 11 update) during initial setup, but those were easily fixed with OS/driver updates. The only issues I have with this model are 1) the really weird placement of the power jack port. This is the first time I've had a laptop place a port in the middle of the laptop rather than at the end (and I've owned Asus laptops basically my whole life!) and it is a really, really weird design decision that's as awkward and unwieldly as it sounds, 2) the keyboard is a lot "softer"/mushier/have lower travel than I'm used to, resulting in me double-pressing keys a lot more than I really should. I might get an external keyboard to remedy this, since it's happening way too often for my liking, and 3) I'm not sure why it has a micro-SD slot instead of a full-size SD slot, since the laptop definitely looks like it has room for the latter, but this is a minor issue. Just noteworthy since my last, much worse laptop had an SD card slot, so this'll take some getting used to. Oh, right, and there's also a complete lack of a numpad, but that should be clear to anyone who even spent a cursory time looking at this laptop. It's a non-issue for me, since I rarely used the numpad on my old computer, even when I was doing price entries for work (just not my thing, I guess). I'm not a huge fan of how small the arrow keys are, though, in favor of making the rest of the keys larger, but I expect I'll either get used to it or, as I mentioned, grab an external keyboard instead. Admittedly, I haven't tried the fingerprint unlock (I've read there were some issues with it on this laptop) because I much prefer using a pin to unlock instead, so I can't speak to whether that works properly or not. I also have yet to try out any resource intensive games, but I expect it'll do fine, since I've had generally minimal lag even with multiple programs/windows open. I'll edit my review if that turns out to be a false assumption. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my purchase, and I hope this laptop will last for a long time. ...And at least now I'm not getting extreme lag just from having photoshop and a web browser open at the same time. :P

Size and weight are fine. Build quality seems solid. CPU is screamingly fast. Fans get very loud in Turbo mode. Turbo not available on battery. SSD is really quick. Keyboard is fine. Nothing special but easy to use and fairly quiet. Backlit keys are easy to see. Panel is a plenty bright but not HDR. I'm not used to more than HD resolution so am enjoying extra detail. Downloaded The Expanse 1080 and 4K. Saw really unpleasant banding and jerkiness at max resolution and 165hz refresh rate. Verified that drivers are latest. Shots where they're panning are kinda nauseating at times. Same with some Disney+ streaming videos. Don't know if it is system or content. May add RAM. ASUS sales support said RAM should run in dual channel up to 32GB total RAM which would include soldered 8GB. HDMI and Displayport only output at 60Hz. HDMI only uses integrated graphics. All ports are on the sides toward the front. Placement can be a bit of a pain. Might want to get a hub. No webcam isn't a big deal but it's definitely a pain. Tabs on the screen scratch your legs if the laptop is on your lap. But who does that? ;) You can use the Asus Armory Crate software to tie specific apps to specific performance modes. Useful.

This is by far the fastest laptop I have ever owned. The GPU is not as powerful as other laptops that came out this year being limited to 100 Watts but it plays any game without issues. The biggest disappointment I have with it is the light bleed on the IPS panel that was used. I hope that one day they start using oled. High refresh oleds
