Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the excellent performance, impressive build quality, and long battery life of the ROG Zephyrus 15.6" QHD Gaming Laptop. Many also praise its powerful GPU, lightweight design, and vibrant display, along with the keyboard. However, some users mention that the laptop can get hot, and the fan noise can be noticeable. Other criticisms include the soldered RAM, less-than-stellar speakers, and the absence of a built-in webcam.

Phenomenal laptop. Thin and light which doesn’t make sense as it’s powerful and fast.

This is my first gaming laptop and I have to say this is quite a laptop. I did not purchase this machine for the purpose of gaming, as all I play is league, but runs the game so smooth on the highest settings. I will update my rating once I run some light video editing as soon as I get my youtube channel up and running!

I received this computer yesterday and have to say that I am impressed by the performance so far. It is everything that I was in hopes it would be. I haven't gamed on it yet, bit will try to update the review when I do. It boots quickly and everything seems to be working well. I do get a little tired of the keyboard constantly changing colors, but I can live with that. I don't usually like using the trackpad, but this one seems to work well. The screen is great andy speakers sound better than I expected for a laptop. It is worth the money for this kind of performance.

First Ryzen Laptop, it’s fast and competent would have kept it, but was initially buggy drivers and audio crackle, I was one of the first to get this recommended laptop best back for your money to get a 3070 graphics card, I would still recommend this laptop but I ended going with Aero 15 oled laptop

This is a great laptop for gaming and everyday use. The display is beautiful at 2k. Sound on this is excellent. The Ryzen chip is super fast and you can rest assured that it will be a future proof laptop. I was coming from a Razer laptop and this thing blows it away! The laptop has good thermals. It can run all AAA games at high settings with high FPS. Biggest reason this over a Razer is the battery life. OMG this thing unplugged (non gaming) can get 7-9 hours and 2-3 hours gaming. Never could even imagine that on my old laptop. Two cons I have with this laptop. I love to upgrade my device and the RAM is soldered on there. You can replace one of them but not sure how that would affect performance. Second and it was a good try is the finger print sensor. It is ok I still have issues unlocking it at times. Works 6 out of 10 times.

This laptop is awesome! The build quality seems great, the keyboard has a great feel to it and still very quiet. I get 60+ FPS on Halo with settings on Ultra, so if you're ok downscaling your graphics 120+ would easily be possible. The Screen on this laptop is beautiful it has great colors and brightness and a fast refresh rate! So far the only complaint I have is that it doesn't have a built in Camera, which would be nice but its not that hard to set up your phone camera to function as your webcam with their built in software.

Instead of trotting out too many technical specs - I also wanted to base the review on some actual performance - gaming, as well as everyday use. The construction / fit is excellent. The lid, deck and bottom are of alloy. There is hardly any flex, even when picking the laptop up by the corners. When opened, the screen stays where positioned properly. The laptop is thinner and lighter than some other 15” gaming laptops. There is some proprietary software, but almost no “bloatware” installed. The Radeon control panel is very useful for tweaking the display for great looking video. The track pad is large, to the point of being almost too big. The bottom “left and right click” are almost to the very bottom edge of the laptop. You need to be precise of the “click” area. However, the trackpad feel was very smooth, and worked flawlessly. There is no number pad, but the advantage for me is the trackpad is centered, making for easier use. The keyboard has a good feel – keys have a good travel, didn't feel at all “mushy”. Key backlight was fairly even over all keys. The lighting is one zone, but programmable for effects- static, rainbow, breathing, along with brightness level, color, - and can even set custom colors. The display is 2560 x 1440 resolution, QHD / 165Hz panel, and is very bright, with excellent color depth and saturation. I found about 50% brightness was satisfactory. The backlight was fairly even with almost no uneven light bleed around edges of the screen. The 1TB SSD offers lots of storage, and is fast – boots and loads programs quickly. Also, there is a second M.2 slot and a micro SD card slot. Graphics are handled by the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, with 8Gb GDDR6. This offers near desktop level gaming performance. Games can achieve triple digit frame rates – even on high / ultra game settings. I ran Doom Eternal, and frame rates were reaching 165 FPS to 187 FPS – I didn't notice frame rates going much below 100 FPS. The AMD Ryzen 9 processor is an 8 core / 16 thread processor clocked at 3.3 to 4.6 GHz, and is faster than Intel I7 core 10th gen processors. Ram is 16Gb @ 3200Mhz. Information is one slot is soldered, and one slot can be upgraded. But losing dual channel mode may actually slow the computer down. However, the 16Gb seems very adequate - even with gaming. I did not check actual CPU or GPU temps, but under general use laptop was only slightly warm, with fans barely running. However, while gaming, temperature did get hot enough to be uncomfortable if directly on your lap. Using with a cooler kept temperature reasonable, with fans running a moderate speed. Battery lasted about 6 hours at 50% brightness while using for internet surfing, streaming video, etc. With the power hungry CPU / GPU the battery lasted just a little over one hour when gaming. Remarkably, the power adapter charged to 100% in just about 1 1/4 hour - while still using the laptop. The Dolby audio from the 6 speakers is quite good for a laptop – plenty of volume, and excellent tone. And, sound through headphones is excellent. There are ports for almost any use – USB, USB C, LAN, HDMI, headphone. One small gripe is the power port is in middle of machine which is more awkward than if positioned at the back. This is an extremely fast laptop well suited for games, but can also blaze through any everyday use. I would highly recommend this laptop - and not just for gaming. Would be great for anyone wanting a fast, powerful computer with lots of storage, for home / school / business use.

Works great, didn’t have QC issues. Great battery life, wouldn’t recommend for heavy gaming but it’ll get you by if you need esports or some lighter stuff. Expect to need to clean the fans out. I’ve had it for 6 months at this point and I don’t use my desktop at all, just this every day.

"B" and "N" letters are slanted, gets very hot even when I'm just streaming the web and I have not had the speaker popping issue until 4 months of use. I hate the trackpad but that is pure preference. Sometimes when I wake the computer up the keyboard doesn't work and the armory crate button works sometimes. Seems like a software issue, not hardware. Gets the job done but the quality and support from Asus is quite poor. Would not recommend this because many people are experiencing the same issues as me. You can get much better with $1900 and a brand with better update support and quality control. Performance wise it is impressive but the small cons weigh the pros significantly.

I am saying just good because of upgrade ability. You can only replace/access 1 memory slot and I found it hard to open. Works really well. it was faster than my previous gaming laptop just in down loading and installing of games on same internet service.

    Great performance, questionable build quality...

So, I'm mixed on this laptop. Almost everything about it is great however, the screen is well beyond subpar. I may have gotten a dud, but at $1800, I would expect better quality. The main issue is the massive amount of light bleeding as shown in the picture. I apologize for the quality of the picture, but I took a photo with no lights on to ensure there wasn't glare.
