Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the excellent performance, impressive build quality, and long battery life of the ROG Zephyrus 15.6" QHD Gaming Laptop. Many also praise its powerful GPU, lightweight design, and vibrant display, along with the keyboard. However, some users mention that the laptop can get hot, and the fan noise can be noticeable. Other criticisms include the soldered RAM, less-than-stellar speakers, and the absence of a built-in webcam.

So far wow! For the price this thing is amazing! My first asus. I usually go with Razers every year but changed this year because the price on this was much lower than anything else. The display is great, and I’m usually really picky about colors and contrast ratio. It’s not MacBook or dell xps, but the refresh rate and response time make up for it. Wish it got brighter fan Noise is typical of any laptop but lower than I’m used to and performance is great. I feel like I have a next gen console built into my laptop. It’s pushing about the same frames

Took 3 laptops that would finally work with my VR headset. It also has enough processing power to run all my cad programs without issue.

So far in my light gaming and my testing it has been working great. I love that the armory crate software is lightweight when it opens and allows you to easily change how the fans ramp up. The battery life has been amazing so far for me and I am getting about 7 hours off the wall when I have the 3070 turned off via Armory Crate. Super high quality display and has been great when compiling code or building Unity Projects. Note - To get the best possible experience out of an external display get a usb-c to Displayport 1.4 or HDMI2.1.

First off, this is a great laptop. When it works that is. I got mine, and then updated all the driver and windows updates. Then I did what most people would do with this laptop, loaded up steam and tried to download games. As soon as I hit download, the screen went black and was not responsive. I had to do a hard reset twice, and the laptop tried fixing itself. It failed, and now I have a very expensive brick that doesn't turn on properly. If you get a working copy, everything on the CPU side seems great. Great battery life, great cinebench results and the fan doesn't seem to turn on at all when you're just using it to browse the internet.

So far I am very impressed with the performance of the laptop. It is not perfect of course. The fans are kind of loud and the lack of a numeric key pad is a downer. That is why I gave this a 4 star rating. Overall though I am very pleased with it and would recommend it to others.

I've been gaming on desktop for nearly a decade, and I've managed to build up a very high end rig over the years. With that said, I've never owned a gaming laptop until recently, when I purchased a Razer Blade 15 with an RTX 2060. Furthermore, I've never owned anything with an AMD processor in it. About two weeks after I bought that laptop, CES2021 saw the reveal of dozens of new notebooks with the RTX 30 series cards in them, and I knew I made a mistake buying the Razer -- especially at the hefty price I paid. When I saw this laptop, it immediately checked all the boxes except the one for an Intel processor. I've been an Intel fanboy since I started PC gaming, I've owned thousands of shares in their company, and I've been a staunch opponent of AMD... I took a chance knowing that this laptop had everything I wanted and one of the top tier AMD Ryzen cards, and this laptop has blown me away. It's light, thin, has an amazing display and it's utterly gorgeous. Not too flashy, but not so understated that I look like a plebian when I whip it out. I would recommend adding another 1TB to 2TB of m.2 storage to get the full package, but there's no other laptop that competes at this price. Also recommended with this product is the Razer Turret keyboard and mouse setup!

Great laptop. In the ultra book category this thing packs a punch. It is amazing what Asus accomplished with the power to size ratio. I use this for productivity for school as well as gaming and so far I am able to run everything but Cyberpunk 2070 at 60fps or higher. However, I should mention that Cyberpunk still looks great at 55 FPS with the freesync screen. Highly recommend this laptop with sweet spot being the rtx 3070.

I ordered this after seeing some reviews of it and it lives up to the hype. Beautiful display, 2560x1440 165hz IPS, 100% sRGB color. My speakers did make a popping noise but I found a workaround that fixed it in a video review by YouTuber “Tech with Sean”. Gaming performance is pretty good, I’m getting around 100fps in CoD Warzone at 1440p. This is a great package, and beats trying to hunt down an RTX card to build your own.

Great ... but for defective touchpad

This is theoretically an excellent machine. It worked really well when docked for a variety of games at high graphics settings. It's comfortable and definitely well made. I returned mine though because the touchpad was defective: it would stop working at random times for random durations, usually around 3-5 minutes at a time - I tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, resetting the entire system, etc., all to have the same problems with the touchpad freezing. Even though it's a gaming laptop, it still needs to be able to function away from my desk. I'm willing to give Asus the benefit of the doubt and say that my specific touchpad was defective as opposed to it being a problem with the design.

ASUS -- screen and gaming issues

I received this laptop a few days ago, but I wasn't able to use it until yesterday. Everything seemed fine until I noticed the screen flickering here and there. It didn't happen a lot, but it was noticeable. That was first issue... I downloaded a few games I intended to play and stream on Twitch using OBS. I downloaded CS:GO, League of Legends, and Valorant. After the games were downloaded, I played all of them to see how the laptop would handle them. For the most part, the laptop played all games on the highest settings, so no knock there. However, there was some weird issue with Steam and CS:GO. Whenever I would load up CS:GO, it would sometimes cut back to my desktop and crash. Then, when I would load Steam again, the interface would be green. This happened a handful of times. As for LoL and Valorant -- I didn't run into any issues. Now here's the big issue: if you plan on using OBS while streaming any of the games, the laptop will crash a lot. Either OBS will say it crashed; the laptop would turn black for a minute, come back, and then freeze; or that weird screen flicker would happen and lag the laptop for a bit. I tried every setting/solution found on Reddit, Google, etc. to avoid the issues, but nothing worked. So today, I gave up and bought an MSI GE66 (the one with Intel and 2070 Super). With the MSI, I did not run into any issues like the ones I mentioned above. Just so you know, I downloaded all the newest drivers, updates, everything before playing any games and so forth. It was a big disappointment because when I didn't have issues with the laptop it was really fast and worked as intended. I knew this wasn't going to be a huge gaming laptop, but I expected it to perform like a grade A laptop. I knew about the soldered RAM, I saw the reviews for the 3070 graphics card, I believe I did my homework before purchasing. It's just...I was expecting an expensive laptop to perform at the top. Maybe I received a bad laptop, maybe I didn't. Who knows. All I know is there are some issues that Asus, Nvidia, AMD, or whomever need to address. Like the great man Kevin Sorbo once said --DISAPPOINTED!!!!

This is an early review: Quality control on these units doesn’t seem to be very good. I am on my 3rd unit. 1st unit: the screen was bowed significantly 2nd unit: the screen was bowed but not much so I decided it was something I could live with. Then the day after purchase during a simple word document the computer crashed and shut itself off and would not boot back up. Took it back and they replaced the unit yet again. 3rd unit: NO screen bowing so that’s amazing. Going on a few days now, everything seems to be working perfectly. Conclusion: once you get your hands on a good unit it works as promised, which is amazing. It’s powerful and fast. This was purchased as a school laptop that I will also casually game on.

Came from a 2020 G14 with 2060. Loving the performance upgrade from both the newer processor and RTX 3070. Brighter screen with a bit less ghosting. Though a tad heavier and larger than the G14, the G15 with 15" QHD 1440 screen is much more usable for productivity tasks while on the go. RGB backlight keyboard is much easer to read than the G14's white backlit keys and the key glow color/pattern is configurable using the Armory Crate application. That is another upgrade: this year's version of Armory Crate. Silent mode actually stops the fans and runs silent when not gaming. If you are reading Asus, my ears thank you. Perhaps what made that possible is the Asus "liquid metal" cooling tech that does seem to keep the temps lower compared to my 2020 G14. Of course this is all according to my highly scientific testing method entirely based on how hot the keys feel under my fingers. HDMI and dual USB-C with DP1.4 on the left side to easily connect my 27" Ultrasharp displays when I get home. Single USB Type A on the right side which I have a Logitech unifying receiver plugged into. Since I use the left side USB Type A for a webcam, an extra port on the right for something like a USB drive would have been nice to have. The G15 also has wired ethernet and a microSD slot - two ports I wished my G14 had. Nothing quite beats the speed and reliability of hardwiring into the wall even with WiFi6 on board. Overall build quality...it's no MacBook but it is rather decent. The main chassis feels rigid and the back of the screen has a nice perforated dot finish that has a sparkles subtly under the light. Looks real cool without being overly obnoxious. My unit has a small amount of backlight bleed in the corners, only noticeable when the screen is on but completely blank. Mine doesn't seem as bad as some of the review photos on here but I agree this is an area that could be improved. Love it overall and glad I snagged one when I saw it in stock. BestBuy shipped it quick and I received it within a couple days.
