Customers are saying
Customers often highlight the excellent performance, impressive build quality, and long battery life of the ROG Zephyrus 15.6" QHD Gaming Laptop. Many also praise its powerful GPU, lightweight design, and vibrant display, along with the keyboard. However, some users mention that the laptop can get hot, and the fan noise can be noticeable. Other criticisms include the soldered RAM, less-than-stellar speakers, and the absence of a built-in webcam.

Insane laptop... terrible QC
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. On my second unit... Pros: Incredible performance Extremely reasonable price High resolution and refresh rate screen Cons: Terrible quality control First system was great for the first week then it started getting dead pixels and had a warped screen. It performed great the whole time. Second unit looked perfect out of the box... until I turned it on. It had a cluster of dead pixels almost in the center of the screen. If Asus could fix their quality control it'd be the perfect computer.

Posted .Dear Darren,
We certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused.
All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, and are built to last, this is a random problem. Normally, ASUS provides one year warranty coverage, if product was purchased brand-new, in order to fix or repair any hardware or part that stop working prematurely under normal usage.
If you need more information or further assistance with the warranty for the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be more than happy to help. Or, you are always welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent at: http://bit.ly/AsusLiveChat.
Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

Just getting started
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.New to gaming, steep learning curve. Exceptional graphics. Alternating colored keyboard a bit distracting. Had a difficult time finding the shut-off option at first. It will be a while before I learn all the capabilities of this computer.

Not satisfied
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Laptop worked good until a point and then the mother board got fried. The Asus customer support is horrendous and unreachable. I wish i had spent some extra bucks on extended warranty. I’d have saved a ton of money.

Cooler than I thought.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't know where to start. Everything is simply perfect about this laptop. The laptop chassis is extreamly solid. It has no flexes or creaks. It feels good to hold and screen is sturdy enough. I can't talk enough about how sleek this laptop looks. I was lucky I didn't have any kind of QC problems in my unit. The speakers works fine and no symbols of any defects in the chassis or the keyboard About the performance, it is very powerful for its size and price. I have come from an alienware area 51m with gtx 1660ti so it was very wierd to have this much better performance from a laptop half the size. The temperatures are amazing. It gets really hot if you're playing on turbo mode (around high 80's on ambient room temperature of 40 degree Celsius). However, I was able to keep it cool with even higher frame rates with some simple tweaks on manual mode. I was able to keep it on mid to high 70's playing far cry 5 and low 70's on assassin's creed valhalla both on the highest settings possible. Which is great in such high environment temperature. My only problem with this laptop is it gets really warm to touch. No matter how fine the internal temperatures are you would still feel warmth when you touch the chassis. It also gets really hot in some parts if you're doing intensive tasks. I'm planing to use it with external keyboard, mouse and screen anyway so that would be less of a problem in the future. In conclusion. I really like this laptop. Especially for its price. I mean, I was in the market for a laptop to use it for 3D render works and some gaming. All the competitives with the same specs were around 300 to 400 dollars more. Which I though of investing them in a console and leave the laptop for only work. But after mentaining this level of performance I think I'm gonna stick with it for some good time before buying a console. I know the 100w TDP would give you less performance than the full power GPU, but I would happily give it up for its portability, price and professional look.

laptop is nice
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i think this has better chance at getting an unit with less visual defect than the 3060 model. i just dont think the upgrade from 3060 to a 3070 is worth 350 bucks. but the laptop looks nice and works nicely.

Good but not great
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The monitor is the best part of this laptop. The machine runs well enough. I'm a little disappointed in its performance, but I shouldn't have been too surprised due to the TDP. Upgrades are a little wonky (ex: one RAM stick is soldered).

Awesome
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great laptop so far. I use it mostly for school and playing some games. It's handled everything I've thrown at it with ease. It does get quite hot when using it in 'Turbo' mode so I would suggest keeping on your lap when gaming. Otherwise it's a grear laptop.

Great laptop, strange keyboard issue though.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome laptop, display is crisp and bright. Trackpad feels great and responds quite well. One issue I have is the keyboard is missing strokes. I think it’s just me though. It is slightly different and requires a more firm press.

Amazing!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing Laptop! The thermals are great! And the larger screen size is amazing. I am coming from a Asus 2020 g14 2060 rtx user. Every Year I upgrade to new model by reselling the laptop and saving 50$ a month. Think of it as a leasing program. The keyboard has RGB, and it is nice. 2buckgeo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVbd96G0Sxg&t=16s

Best of the best for now
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Toe best value and performance to date in laptops. Having checked out most of the HP and Dell high end, I find the Asus Rog Zephyrus 15.5, AMD Ryzen 9 and Nvidia 3070 a winner. It isn't the bright-shiny toy of the heavy Dell XPS with limited GPU, nor is it the classy gilt-edged HP Spectre or the Omen. But, in my opinion, it is a quality, well-built, laptop with spectacular performance.

Laptop is amazing, buy from a better reseller.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Laptop would be a 5 star purchase, i just regret buying it from BestBuy. Laptop is great, build quality is fantastic. Asus has made great cooling improvements this year to let the 3070 and ryzen cpu run properly. Problem is Bestbuy is back to their old warranty shenanigans. Asus used to have multiyear warranties included if you didnt buy from bestbuy. These are gone but Asus does offer their own extended warranties. 250 dollars gets a 3 year warranty with accidental damage from Asus. These are not available for any laptop bought from bestbuy. You would instead need to buy their much more expensive warranty that is available only through one failing retailer. Laptop is great, i just recommend you buy one elsewhere.

Disappointed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This machine checks almost every box a Gamer is looking for: 1440p 165hz 3070 Ryzen 9 1TB NvME To prefix: I had updated this machine to current versions: Bios, GPU, CPU, OS before doing anything. The problem came after I had been benchmarking this machine to monitor performance under load. The first few tests came back great, neither CPU or GPU got above 70c and fans never became obnoxiously loud. Testing was performed with both AMD and Nvidia separately on 1440p modes. I thought I had purchased the ultimate steal in gaming. I shut down the benchmark platforms, turned on Division 2 to finally sit down and game. Annnnndd BSOD. This prompted within 25-30 minutes of play. The error code provided was that the GPU overheated (generalized). Restarted the machine in safe mode, then restarted again. Booted up Division 2 again to see if it was a flute, nope BSOD again, same error. Though maybe I was pushing the GPU too hard, tried a more CPU demanding game, FFXIV, BSOD for Overheating. I'm sure I could more than likely find something to fix this issue if I took the time. But for $1,799, I'm not running the risk of this popping back up later down the road when I'm not eligible to return it. I just don't understand, no component indicated that it was becoming too hot within purposeful testing, not Utilization got close to 100%. Maybe this one was a "lemon" and the model in general is amazing. But be warned, Lemons exist.

Posted .Dear Aregdior,
We certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused you.
If the OS, chipset, video and BIOS are up to date, the BSOD may possibly be a hardware related issue. We recommend that you send the laptop in for further testing and analysis in order to determine the root cause of the problem and have it resolved.

Great but only one RAM slot
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great machine! I wanted to keep it but the fact that it only has one upgradeable RAM slot was a deal-breaker for me. I was looking for something that would be future proof and the performance drop when adding more that 8gb of ram just wasn't worth it.

Great gaming laptop! Amazing value
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely loves this machine. I read many reviews about different gaming laptops and wanted to go with RX 30XX series and AMD processor. This is the ideal machine. The gaming experience is great! its a beast. I know there are some reviews about thermal issues, but in my opinion, that's something you have to live with when you go with gaming laptops instead of gaming desktops. I play at turbo mode and the thermal is acceptable. and the fan noise is ok as I usually wear gaming headphones.

Good laptop, very happy!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far so good but definitely a few weird things. For a gaming laptop, this thing is very quiet at idle, typically with its fans off, and very light for what it's packing. the keyboard took some getting used to, but I adjusted well. The screen is nice too. The design is beautiful as well and not intrusive with any exterior light shows when closed. Cons are is that there is some coil wine. Not too loud to be horrible but just enough where I can hear it. Doesn't bother me too much but may for others. Apparently, some units don't have this though and the coil wine is NOT constant, it's on and off. Also, the keyboard led lights to tend to flicker when in sleep mode with the screen open, weird.
