Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the excellent performance, impressive build quality, and long battery life of the ROG Zephyrus 15.6" QHD Gaming Laptop. Many also praise its powerful GPU, lightweight design, and vibrant display, along with the keyboard. However, some users mention that the laptop can get hot, and the fan noise can be noticeable. Other criticisms include the soldered RAM, less-than-stellar speakers, and the absence of a built-in webcam.

Great Product! Sleek Design and unbeatable performance. Very Quite for day-to-day use. Games Run smoothly. Some minor issues with USB port (maybe it is some bios related issue). Some time they disconnect and reconnect automatically.

Great performance but the surface is extremely hot. It gets very uncomfortable when gaming long hours. I assume that is the price you pay for a slick gaming laptop. Returned.

Solid laptop, however.. I wish they'd pump out more wattage to the GPU as 80+20 in my opinion is just not enough. It handles everything I threw at it like a champ, lack of webcam is.. well, unfortunate.

I hate soldered ram. This device got ridiculously hot even compared to others in the same tdp. It’s performance for 3070 vs my y740 2070 max q just isn’t worth the upgrade.

I got this laptop to be my production and engineering powerhouse for music; and it did not disappoint!!! i use it on multiple DAWs (Softwares) and have had no issue when pushing it to it's limits (witch is EXTREMELY HIGH!) and ontop of that when i want to relax and play some Need For Speed or Injustice 2 the game playing on Max settings is smooth as butter!; i have yet to find what this computer cannot do! 5Stars! ~Prod. The computer is great, but my unit has an issue with its built-in microphone since day one: it works when it wants. No matter how much installing or uninstalling I did, it won't work. Now, when I try to get help from Asus, it tells me that only Best Buy can help me. When I contacted Best Buy, they wanted me to pay this genius thing for them to take a look at my computer. I should've changed it when I had the chance. This machine doesn't come with a webcam already. Now, I didn't sign up for no built-in mic too. It's the least the company should make sure it works.

Best Gaming Laptop I've ever had

Best gaming laptop I've ever had. I sold my gaming PC with a RTX 3080 OC in it and wanted something similar in laptop since where I was moving, I might need to be more mobile with my setup. The price wasn't too bad for what you get and I mean it's almost the price as a RTX 3070 card lol. The 165hz is smooth and I also have a 240hz monitor hooked up in the HDMI port that it comes with, so the 165hz works greatly as a primary and a secondary monitor. Performance blew me away - honestly had about 10-15% FPS loss in games but I mean it was really not much. I'm talking about going from 180 fps to like 160 fps with max settings on some games. It's SLIM as heck, and I was worried about overheating issues but I have yet to even get it close to that. Even with extended hours of gaming on Fallout 76, Valorant, New World and Back 4 Blood. Overall: I love it and would rate it 10/10. Haven't had a single issue.

This had been my first Asus laptop. I have always been an MSI gamer but decided to take the risk and try out the ROG G15. I am not disappointed. It has met my expectations and surely will continue to exceed them as I use it more and more. There is very minimal bloatware as compared to other laptop brands out there which saves me from having to uninstall programs upon booting the laptop up for the first time. I will say that it can be kind of loud under heavy loads but that's expected with the overall form factor of the laptop. If you are having any doubts on whether or not to purchase this machine, just do it.

Build quality is ok, not great but good enough. I'd prefer it to be more stiff and premium for the price. But the internals, good lord. One of the fastest laptops I've ever owned. Battery life is superb as well.

I actually went through quite a phase of trying to find the perfect daily carry device, but I think this one is a keeper. I wanted something that was good looking enough to carry into a meeting, small enough to sit on my desk all day and not take up too much room, but also be good enough to play games at a high refresh rate. The screen is super bright, and looks brilliant in well lit rooms. In darker rooms, there is some light bleed through in the corners that's not ideal, but usually I don't notice it. I actually had the G14 for a few weeks but I don't recommend it by comparison. It's a nice laptop, but the white top and silver body just threw me off. Also the screen is no where near the caliber of the one on the G15. The entire laptop looks dated by comparison. The ghosting on the G14 is bad, whereas on the G15 it isn't noticeable. I do wish it had a webcam on it, even if it was low quality. Also, this laptop could do with having an HDMI 2.1 port. I've very glad I didn't step up 3080 version. In performance or turbo mode, it does run a bit warm even while doing simple web browsing. It doesn't bother me on this one though. The build is very thin, but it does have a very thick "foot" on the bottom so it stays nice and high off a desk. I wouldn't recommend using it for any heavy duty task without accounting for that air flow. Overall, I love this laptop. I'll be watching closely at the next few generations for those slight performance upgrades in the screen, and for HDMI 2.1. Maybe they'll even add a slim webcam!

Speaker, USB and quality control issues

Good performing laptop except I unfortunately also have the blown speaker sounding issue on the left side. Both Best Buy and Asus pretend they haven’t heard about this issue when they could just look at the reviews section or in reddit, where plenty more owners are reporting this. Another issue is the USB controller. You can’t currently plug into USB3 if you’ll be connecting an Xbox controller. You can connect to USB C if you have the cable. I don’t know if the speaker issue will ever get fixed by a future driver update, or if this is an overlooked issue caused by the “force canceling woofers” Asus was touting. What an embarrassing thing to tout, as the farting bass sound can’t possibly what Asus deemed good sounding. Just stay away from this right now until Asus gets a hold of their quality control.

This laptop can run almost anything at ultra settings you throw at it. Thanks to the powerful AMD cpu and RTX 3070 gpu. Refresh rate is crazy too at 165 Hz. I would highly recommend anyone for this portable powerhouse. This laptop has been positively reviewed by a lot of streamers on YouTube and also mentioned this one as the most powerful laptop of 2021 by far. I definitely agree with majority of them so don’t hesitate to buy it.

Great laptop, not as loud as competitors, and one of the first Ryzen 5900/3070 combos. Wish the lid was slightly less flashy, I was looking for a gaming laptop that didn't scream "gamer". Added a skin to the device and it's absolutely perfect. This model has half the ram soldered and half the ram upgradable, so if you change the 8GB stick to 16 you would have 24GB of ram, the first 16 dual channel (faster), and the last 8GB in single channel. This is a much better option than all soldered or less ram in the soldered portion. Has 2 M.2 slots - already added a WD SN750 for additional storage to mine, worked great. Display is spectacular, so glad they finally started putting 1440P in 15" laptops, its a perfect balance for picture quality and performance.

I bought this item open box and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. For such a small laptop this thing is a beast. I did a cyperpunk test with ray tracing enabled and it was butter smooth. It can get a little loud when gaming but that's the price you pay for a form factor this small. It also looks great and doesn't scream gamer.
