Screen blinked when it changes optimization settings (apparently it tries to use the integrated GPU when it can, for power management purposes). Mostly harmless, but very rarely it crashes some application (Zoom in my case).

This laptop is just for casual gaming and for students.

I had an older one, but decided to expand my gaming system and get a large gaming monitor a secondary monitor, a docking station etc. My old one was ...okay... with it, but seemed to be getting a bit hot, and there was a loss of graphics because it wasn't quite up to date enough for the new monitor (there's a whole lotta techno-speak regarding that, that I don't remember the proper terms for). This one is definitely doing the job.

I was wondering why I wasn't able to get the same benchmarks as reviews, and it's because they downgraded the RAM from 1rx8 to 1rx16. Even though they advertise the RAM as up-gradable, half of it is soldered directly to the motherboard, so any upgrade would break the dual channel capability and actually make the RAM even worse. The RAM issue is a 20% downgrade in gaming performance, and most likely saved ASUS about $10. Will never buy another ASUS laptop again. Honestly, gaming laptops are such a mess that even buying the top of the line doesn't help you.

We do understand your disappointment if you are experiencing slow system speed or performance issue with the laptop.
The RAM or memory are running in dual-channel mode even though one RAM stick is soldered on the motherboard. If you are getting a lower benchmark score, please ensure Windows and the chipset and GPU drivers are up to date. Keeping Windows updated will maintain optimum system stability and performance. If theese teps were already performed to no avail, please try to run a diagnostics or optimization test using the "My ASUS" utility software or application. If this is not pre-installed on the laptop, please download the application at the Microsoft Store. For details on how to use "My ASUS", please go to: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1041686/. While accessing web applications, please make sure the unit has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system speed and performance.

I have already exchanged one unit for 2 dead pixels and blown speaker sound. This second unit has the exact same issue, and I've tried to live with it, but I can't. I tried updating drivers, messing with audio settings, everything. Nothing fixes the blown speaker sound. Also there is a USB issue where my XBOX controller won't work via USB. Gives me not enough resources error. Completely unacceptable QC for an $1800 laptop. I am returning my second unit back to Best Buy.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really love this laptop but my unit came through the mail with a stuck pixel near the middle of the screen which is unacceptable and infuriating considering I just spent $1900 of hard earned money on it. Other than the stuck pixel the machine stayed relatively cool and the 3070 pairs excellently with the WQHD 165hz panel.

The one con is if you us an external monitor do not close the lid of the laptop while gaming. There are fans above the keyboard and if the lid is closed it causes the laptop to overheat and shutdown.
