Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the excellent performance, impressive build quality, and long battery life of the ROG Zephyrus 15.6" QHD Gaming Laptop. Many also praise its powerful GPU, lightweight design, and vibrant display, along with the keyboard. However, some users mention that the laptop can get hot, and the fan noise can be noticeable. Other criticisms include the soldered RAM, less-than-stellar speakers, and the absence of a built-in webcam.

Wow. I've been on the lookout for an upgrade to my PC to be able to more effectively game. This laptop absolutely delivers. I am an avid gamer, and even though I typically play on console, I've wanted to broaden my horizons and get into the PC side of things more heavily. I needed a hardware upgrade and I wanted something I could take with me to game on the go when taking trips assuming COVID ever ends. This laptop provides everything I need and more. I will admit that I am primarily using this laptop docked to an external monitor and separate mouse, keyboard, and speaker system. I have spent a fairly limited amount of time away from the dock. In that time, I can say that the monitor is amazingly clear and keeps a great resolution and refresh rate for clear picture. The speakers leave a little bit to be desired but even when mobile I mostly would be using headphones anyway so the speakers should not really be a big part of the conversation for the average user. The power behind this machine is incredible for a laptop. Boot and load times barely exist. I've done some cross play with gamer friends on Xbox and it's on par with the brand new Xbox Series X if not a bit faster. It's blazing past the older model Xbox consoles. The AMD processor paired with the Nvidia GPU makes for one beast of a machine. I will say I had some minor issues with the drivers for the AMD integrated GPU. It was a minor inconvenience though as I simply had to disable the AMD internal graphics processor, download and install new drivers for it, then reenable it. Also, make sure the NVIDIA GPU is set to be your primary GPU. This laptop can also get quite loud as it works to stay cool. If you've ever owned a gaming laptop before, this is fairly normal. I have not had it come close to overheating yet however, even with several consecutive hours of gaming. If you're using headphones or an external speaker system you'll likely never notice. Overall, I am extremely happy with this laptop. It has met and exceeded my expectations and I look forward to using it for many years to come.

Worth the price and this product has software called Armoury Crate. If I had a choice, I would go with Dell's Alienware laptop. The 15.6 inch laptop has no webcam and a large track pad. This laptop would be a better choice than a lot of other laptops.

The most I've spent on a laptop and the worst one yet. Audio drivers still have serious issues after almost 3 years. Sent in for dead pixels and asus returned it with the same issue. ASUS is trash now. Avoid at all costs.

Blown out speakers. Nice design but bad quality control issues as per usual with asus. Blacklight bleeding. Overheating. Nice display but gaming performance is not the best. Barely hits 60 fps in RDR2 and scaling down to 1080p is NOTICEABLY blurry.

Overall laptop ran "meh" performance wise, sounded straight up like an airplane. Unfortunately the model I order had a busted touchpad as well, with the top half being kinda unusable. Take that as you will about quality control. The laptop also looks way way better in the press pictures than actually holding the thing...

Very goos laptop, if they can increase the power consumption of rtx it will be perfect ( like rog strix) if you guys want to buy a laptop for gaimng, I suggest switch it to rog strix rtx 3070 with the same price, but it worth for the money you pay.

I really wanted to love this laptop. At the end of the day, I had to sell it for a loss as it was outside my return window. Bought a Lenovo Legion 5 Pro and love it in so, so many ways that I hated this. There are so many areas this laptop disappointed my high expectations, especially after reading so many great reviews, I don't know where to start, but here goes. The cooling is bad. Fans run very loud, and it gets very hot, around 10 to 15 C hotter than my Lenovo during same tasks. Upwards of 80C, so hot that it almost hurt to touch. Can't imagine that will be good for the screen - which the fans blow hot air directly up and on to - and other components long term. Sure enough even after only a couple months of use the little rubber bumpers on the back hinge area had started to come loose, and not from any rough handling. The screen is 16x9 instead of 16x10 which is simply much, much nicer. The keyboard does not have a 9key (num keys), which I thought I would get used to but turns out I use that every day and it's a big negative at least for me. Also I'm not fond of the placement of the brightness +/- keys. The connections are all on the sides including power, rather than out of the way in the back. The included RTX 3070 is a lower power version than in my Lenovo, and performance is much worse as a result. I'm not sure how Lenovo managed to run a 130w 3070 much cooler and less loud, but Asus couldn't keep even this lowly 95w (or is it 85?) running cool. The included power brick is around 220w vs 300 on the Lenovo. This has 16GB ram but 8GB is soldered onto the motherboard, making options for upgrading much less flexible. And I haven't even started on the software. Oh, the software. Asus' built in "Armory Crate" is an absolute nightmare to use. And worst of all, it got an update - which I naively thought would improve it so went ahead and installed it - and guess what, not only did it not improve the incredibly bad interface or anything else, it actually GIMPED the performance of the already not great performing GPU! The update limited GPU VRAM OC to only +300, which anyone who knows anything about these RTX 30 series chips, knows they can usually run much, much higher than this. Even before the update, it was only able to run at around +600, or around half what my Lenovo can handle, but after the update limited to +300, along with the lower wattage on this laptop 3070, it was getting me over 21% less performance compared to my Legion 5 Pro. Just awful. So I'm sure there are more negatives I've already forgotten about but this is plenty. My short list of positives: The screen is very nice and runs games like Rocket League super fluid at the native 165hz, and does seem to get slightly brighter overall than the Lenovo, but also crucially does not get nearly as dim like if you want to leave it running with the screen on. The screen allows you to close it more than the Lenovo before shutting off, which I do prefer. Battery life seems to be slightly better on the Asus but I rarely used either laptop not plugged in (and kept at 60% state of charge which is a very nice setting that both laptops have, to help save battery life). The WASD keys have a little bump on the W key, which I do prefer to the bump being on the S key (as with the Lenovo). The Ryzen 9 chip in this Asus is better than the Ryzen 7 in the Lenovo, but for a supposed gaming oriented PC such as this most people will almost never make use of that slight extra power. And lastly, it is lighter than the Lenovo, which along with the smaller lighter power brick makes it slightly more portable, but even here not by as much as you'd expect given all the other trade-offs. It's around 5.2 lbs while the Lenovo is close to 6 (not including power bricks). Again simply not worth the many, many trade offs. Finally, some of the negatives here might be forgivable if the price was good enough to make it a good value in spite of it all. Sadly, even here Asus loses as this was/is $1850 while the Lenovo was $1960 at the time I ordered and received mine in June, but then dropped to $1850 after mine shipped, at which time I was able to call and get a price match credit for the difference. I guess it's no wonder that the Lenovo has been almost constantly out of stock for months since, and has raised in price a bit as well. Note that I do not work for Lenovo or have any relationship with either company and I have nothing against Asus generally (had an Asus phone for years that I loved). Just my honest impression after owning both this Asus and the Lenovo for several months, after not owning a laptop for over a decade prior. Bottom line, if you can get a really good deal on this, and can't get a hold of anything better quality, go for it. Maybe I just got a lemon. But the long list of negatives is way too much for a nearly $2000 laptop. I can not recommend this.
