It'll need some work but it is Amazing!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am giving this laptop a five star review, however this has not been a love without headaches. With this being a brand new product with an all new hardware configurations internally, I am optimistic. With (New Ryzen CPU 5900HS and New NVIDIA 3070 GPU) I expect that the companies will both continue support to fix the issues I will outline. And I have had several issues and a few are still unresolved. I find them to be minor but to someone that is not ready it could be a deal breaker. Internally and on paper this machine is amazing. This is also true in function. I am using this to run multiple art programs and 3d rendering programs oh and games. Mainly working in graphics. All basic computer functions are amazing. I have played a few AAA Titles on it and they look amazing with setting maxed out/ Ultra everything. In Doom Eternal All settings on ultra nightmare the PC clicks along at 130+ FPS, with no tearing, artifacts or stutter (On Turbo Preset / Not Overclocked). However getting this to work properly was a nightmare also. Connected to a 4k TV via HDMI and output in 4k though limited to 30 FPS on HDMI cable (2.0 not 2.1 on the laptop) It still played with some settings adjusted ( turn off vertical synch - input lag issue resolved ). The C to C or C to Display port will allow 60 FPS (Not tested) with a 4K monitor. While the TV would not show more FPS the Machine was putting out 70 or higher FPS. So it will Game at 4k for sure. Let's talk Thermals. It gets toasty but according to Asus Armory it never gets near a point of concern or even close. I have noticed that the CPU gets warmer in gaming but stays around 72 C ( safe to 95 C) , and the GPU stays nice and cool. For it's compact size it stays cooler than expected and it is quiet even in "Turbo" the fans do not bother me at all. Let's talk about problems. There is an Audio issue. Though people are reporting that the speakers are blown, This is not the case. There is a Windows update that for the Realtek Audio Driver and Also and ASUS driver update . With both of these installed what sounded like totally shot speakers were crystal clear. They are also sufficiently loud for a laptop. Good enough for youtube or a Game. There is still however a slight pop that can be heard on some bass beats. It does not occur often but I am also hoping that there is a resolution for this in the future. I believe that it is software related because when connecting to an external soundbar it can be heard at times also and when connected to my Galaxy buds as well. When installing games I have experienced a minor issue ( not so minor with Doom Eternal ) Where the game automatically detects the Ryzen Internal CPU GPU, instead of the NVIDIA GPU and will either launch the game using the Ryzen IGPU or fail to detect a Graphics card. It is an easy fix, you just have to go into NVIDIA's Control Panel Add the game and tell it basically to only use the 3070. This is a hassle and the default is set already to globally use the 3070 but I have found this to be the case with a few of the Art Programs I am using also. I have only experienced crashing with one program and I suspect the program not the PC and that is Inkscape ( Save Often ). I have also experienced what I think is a display malfunction where it flickers and appears staticy. While the PC still is running and I can make my way to restart and it is fine. This has happened twice in 2 weeks. Today while writing this review in-fact after using the though for 10 hours of Graphic work and internet browsing, you tube. Other very minor issue that has been reported by multiple people is that while in sleep mode after a while the Keyboard starts to strobe with a white backlight like it is trying to wake up. This does not effect anything but is strange. Once you wake it up, all goes back to normal. That is it. For what this machine is capable of and at this price point it is great. Good for someone who is a gamer and a creator but not for someone who just wants everything to be perfect out of the box. I imagine in the near future it will be all sorted out. The things I have listed are all items that have been reported by people far more influential than myself so I am sure that the company will work them out. Nothing the good ole reboot can't fix. I am very happy with this product.

They overlooked a few things in the design
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a good laptop with minor issues. I use it for CAD work and wanted a powerhouse that was mobile. It definitely has the power a mobile Ryzen 9 should have, but it overheats QUICKLY. To make matters worse, fan speeds are locked and can't be manually controlled. Thanks ASUS. Another drawback, one of the memory sticks are soldered. I don't have plans to upgrade from 16GB, but if I wanted to it would not recommended to do so. Thanks ASUS. However, almost all of my ASUS products have yet to fail on me. So if I were to go with any manufacturer for the sake of longevity, it would be them. Thanks ASUS. As for neat features, I do enjoy the USB-C power delivery that was implemented. My company uses mainly USB-C Docks, so it was beneficial to still charge and eliminate all but one chord (got to stay mobile). They also have a battery optimization that only charges it to 60%. This prevents overcharging as a way to help extend battery life. I'd give it a 4/5. If it gave either more control over basic functions or just fixed its heating issues in general - it would easily have been a 5 star.

EXCELLENT laptop with badly engineered speakers.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While there are a few RTX3070 laptops out there that are thicker and can lay down a few more frames per second, the overall feel and build of the Zephyrus G15 really won me over. Pros - This thing is a real powerhouse. The Ryzen 9 is BLAZING fast, as is the SK Hynix SSD. 1TB is generous enough for a big game library too. The keyboard is reasonably good, and the minimalistic styling looks great at work or school. At low volumes, the speakers sound very good, right up there with premium laptops. The stereo microphone array does a good job of picking up clear audio and minimizing background noise (in cardioid mode, has 3 modes available). Thermals are pretty good and fan noise is acceptable under loads. It's totally silent during most office tasks. Good port selection, microSD card reader is a plus. Battery life is HUGE for a gaming laptop! I can honestly get 7-11 hours reliably for school and office tasks. Has an extra M.2 SSD slot for upgradability. Has dual USB-C ports, each with DisplayPort out capability. Cons - ASUS needs to fire the quality control team that OK'd the speaker design. It's a 6 speaker system with clear tweeters aimed at your ears, plus 4 woofers that fire up and down. At low volumes, they sound fantastic. However, there's a problem where at above 40% or so volume, the bass starts to pop and distort badly (many other reviews agree). No webcam is laughable in 2021. Black finish is a bit of a fingerprint magnet around the keyboard (lid is different better). No MUX switch, so you lose a little gaming performance on the built-in screen and HDMI port. Heat vents blow in front of the screen (not a huge issue, just less comfortable). One 8GB RAM module is soldered on, limiting upgrade options. TL/DR - Crazy fast CPU, great GPU, beautiful screen and appearance, great value, excellent speakers for low volume, junk speakers for high volume.

Torn on it
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had the laptop and used it daily (few hours on average) for just over a month now. I needed to upgrade after waiting about 6 years and I thought I’d like it more than I do honestly. The good: 1. Specs wise it’s just what you want 2. I haven’t found anything it can’t run 3. Keyboard is really easy to type on. 4. Looks amazing. I know there’s some reviews that aren’t thrilled with the display. But I’m colorblind and it looks amazing to me so I’ll take it. 5. In my opinion, it’s very quiet. The Ehhh: 1. The power plug in is in an annoying spot. 2. Fingerprint reader works 50% of the time. 3. Wish it had more usb slots. The bad: 1. I already have a dead pixel right in the middle of the display. Haven’t decided if I just live with it (noticed last night) 2. As many others have said, the speakers. I don’t know if it’s they are weak, or if it’s a mixer issue. Sometimes I have it at 100 and it’s still quiet. Other times at 60 it’s very loud. I’ve tired a few mixers to see if I can sort it out, nothing yet. 3. It’s not very user friendly. Switching from silent, to performance, to turbo, takes forever unless you launch the ACES tool. It’ll do a bunch of little buggy things like the keyboard flashes in random patterns when it’s in sleep but plugged in. Overall I like it. It’s good, not great. For the price you can probably find better.

Great overall, with some minor setbacks
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro Overall it is a great product. It has good performance, it runs through all my games with ease. Its CPU and GPU is on sweet spot with its 1440p resolution. It is light compared to other gaming laptops. It has a subtle and 'business' look which is cool. If you get it for $1550 it is a great deal. Con I finally decided to return my unit, because the screen is kinda dim and does not support HDR. The fingerprint scanner does not work %50 of the time. The fan sometimes spins like crazy for no reason and does not come back to normal, then I have to restart to kinda reset. Also it does not have a camera if you need it.

Great laptop lack of webcam not a big deal anymore
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the G14 before and upgraded to this. This has a much better screen and better performance. Same great build quality. This 2021 edition is the same great build quality as last years G14. The screen feels much smoother though and way less ghosting than the old G14, that old one was 120gz but had bad ghosting at 120hz that looks almost like 60hz. This has 165hz with very little ghosting, and the QHD feels great when I didn't expect to see that much improvement over the G14's smaller screen, but it is much more clear. The lack of webcam doesn't really bother me anymore due to purchasing an awesome flexible usb webcam. It's called a "kano cam" and can found on Best Buy's website here for $29. I put it on the left usb port and it hovers over the case. Great video quality on this camera. The performance of this thing is really good. Though I would say it's nowhere near a desktop 5900x and 3080 though. On warzone at 5120x1440 32:9 odyssey g9 monitor I get about 100fps on warzone. When I hook this laptop up to that Odyssey G9 monitor at that exact resolution I get about 50 fps. So still extremely good but definitely about half the framerate when compared to a high end desktop. I would say just guessing that it compares to my old 5820k and 1080ti desktop build I had. Which ran all games no problem, very impressive for a laptop. This laptop is much better than the MSI GS66. That one I actually had to return because of really loud fans, and the wifi adapter on it was terrible. I would get 30 mbps, on this G15 I am back to 400mbps. I know it was the adapter because I hooked up an external USB one to the GS66 and all problems went away. The battery life on this laptop is very good. One con though, If you are into VR this may not be the best choice. I had to go through a bunch of settings to force the Oculus Software to use the built in Nvidia card (under windows graphics settings) Even then I noticed random frame jitters. I had read this could be an issue with Nvidia drivers for many people on 30 series cards. Just wanted to put it out there though.

Great laptop, with some qc issues.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great productivity/gaming performance, but some things do hold it back. For 1, the screen is warped slightly, which you can see from the side when the lid is closed. Asus said this is intentional, but its a bit strange nonetheless. Furthermore, there is a bit of coil whine that I notice when the keyboard backlit is off, and especially when the system is on Igpu mode. There is some very minor backlit bleed on the screen, but I never notice it. Aside from that, its a great laptop. It tears through any game I want to play at high settings, the keyboard and trackpad are really nice to use and feel very premium. The screen is bright enough, and is very crispy as it is 1440p and has high refresh rate. The speakers get nice and loud, and are very clear, and the mic picks up my voice almost perfectly(far as I can tell). On IGPU mode, I get anywhere from 8-10 hours of battery life, which is great, especially for a gaming laptop. I wish it had a webcam, but I knew it did not have one when I bought the laptop.

No increase in GPU performance from last gen.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Good - Very light and compact with a great fit and finish. Compatible with Windows Hello via fingerprint sensor. Nice looking screen if a little dim. Ryzen 9. Silent when not underload. The Bad- The speaker issue. No camera. Optimus issues with screen flickering. Incompatible with Oculus Rift or Quest (see Optimus issues), must use USB C to Hdmi to output to 4k (Optimus). Plastic chassis got extremely hot under load including the bottom of the screen where the fans output. Both were uncomfortable to touch they were so hot. Disappointing graphic performance from the 80w 3070. I ended up picking up an open-box intel Alienware M15 w/ the 2070 Super Max P for $600 less and it beat the G15 in most benchmarks at 1080p and 3dMark @ 1440. I benchmarked Valhalla, Watchdogs Legion and Fenyx on both along with the synthetic benchmarks . I bought it as a gaming laptop and while I was impressed with G15's portability and increased battery life but the severely hamstrung 3070 it just wasn't worth the $600 premium.

Latest tech, some good and some bad
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Asus ROG Zephyrus G15 15.6” laptop has some very impressive specs and can deliver decent gaming performance and excellent PC performance. It’s not a perfect laptop and has a few flaws that might deter some from buying it. Performance: This can easily replace a desktop PC for daily windows tasks, but when it comes to gaming, you might want to stick with a desktop if you prefer the best performance that you can get. Included in the laptop is a Nvidia GeForce GTX 3070 with 8GB of RAM, but this is not a full power GPU and seems to underperform while delivering the FPS that a true gamer might demand. This mind you is at the highest settings with Ray Tracing turned on and WQHD (2560 x 1440) at 165Hz. If you step it down to Full HD 1280 x 1080, then the performance will also be boosted. Kind of a shame in my opinion, why purchase a gaming laptop with the latest hardware, only to not use it to its full potential. All my testing was with COD (2019) Warzone / Multiplayer and COD (2020) Cold War. I cannot imagine what a game like Cyberpunk 2077 will do to this PC and I suspect it will not play it very well with the highest settings. Another thing I noticed was the heat generation that this laptop produces. The exhaust heat and surface temperature near the exhaust vents can get extremely hot when playing very intense games. The heat is blown onto the lower bezel of the screen, I am not sure if that will affect the screen at some point down the road, but that is something to keep in mind. The fans were blowing very loudly and were working hard to keep up inside. The CPU and GPU temps were elevated but they didn’t seem extreme so perhaps the fans are really working great to move the hot air out. Features: Dedicated volume, microphone, Asus Crate buttons allow for fast and convenient access to these features. Notably missing is a web camera, but that is not a big deal for me. The keyboard is well laid out and although it is missing a “print screen” button it has everything else. Also missing is a 10 keypad and that is due to the speakers that are placed on either side of the keyboard. They do sound great are loud. I did notice some popping when at full volume so I will probably avoid turning them all the way up going forward. Going back to the keyboard, it is backlit, and you can change the color of the entire keyboard only, there are no color zones or changing the colors of specific keys. I did not find this a big deal but keep that in mind. Typing on the keyboard is very nice as the keys are good sized and they have the perfect amount of travel that I like. The trackpad is very large, and it works very well. There is a fingerprint reader, and it is located at the power button. At first, I did not know where it was, and it is not obvious that it is a fingerprint reader. It functions about 80% of the time and others it just does not seem to work all that well. I can power on the laptop with my registered finger, and it will just start up windows, but occasionally it will not register, no big deal to me. Hopefully, this will be resolved with a later update to make it more reliable. The battery seems to last right around 6 or 7 hours with the default settings and the 200-watt power supply will fully charge up the laptop in about 2 hours. A great feature that the MyAsus software suite has is a battery management tool. This tool will allow you to change how the battery will be charged and has three modes. Full capacity mode charges up to 100%, Balanced Mode, charges up to 80%, and maximum lifespan mode, charges up to 60%. These modes claim to preserve the battery so you do not have to keep unplugging the laptop and essentially keep it plugged in all the time and it will not overcharge the battery. The Asus Crate software, has a dedicated button, is where you can fine tune the laptop to fit your current needs. You can monitor the temperature of the CPU, GPU and view the fan speeds. You can even redirect the power from the Nvidia RTX 3070 to the onboard video card to maximize battery life. It has some preset modes such as Windows, performance, Turbo, and quiet, but you can also do a manual adjustment to fit your needs. I just keep mine set to performance, and it has been fine for my needs. When the Nvidia GTX 3070 is not working, this laptop is very quiet, and I don’t even notice the fans running. It also stays cool as well. The 1 TB SSD is a middle of the road variety and does a fine job. I think my biggest complaint is that this laptop has two 8GB RAM chips, and one of them is soldered onto the board. So, if you were thinking of upgrading the RAM, you will lose the dual channel capability of it since you will not be able to pair them up. This is something to consider and they do make a 32GB version, but it is a lot more expensive. I nearly forgot to mention that I was given a free year of accidental coverage with this laptop and I had to accept the offer so be sure to take advantage of that offer. Overall, this is a feature packed laptop with the latest processing and graphics power, it can handle the latest games, but you might have to step the settings back a bit to get the best performance out of it. On paper, this is one heck of a beast, but there are some drawbacks, and it is not perfect, but for me it is pretty darn good. Pros: Normal operation – Quiet Normal operation - cool keyboard layout speakers sound good quick charge screen brightness Design 1 Year free accidental coverage Cons: Price Very hot during game play keyboard not zoned for backlight Soldered 8GM RAM module Quirky fingerprint reader lack of web camera Speakers pop at full volume

Game-changing Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned this laptop for over a month and I'm very happy with it. Love the form factor and design. Amazing 1440p 165hz screen that gets plenty bright for my use - I keep brightness level at 3 or 4 for non gaming stuff and brightness level 6 or 7 for gaming. I scored 9400 on the timespy benchmark, and the laptop has handled everything I've thrown at it quite well. Although I use a cooling pad, it's amazing how quiet the fans are. Added another nvme SSD with no issue. Port selection is another plus, with the device coming with 2 fast USB C ports. Battery life is really impressive. The machine has been criticized for its lack of a MUX switch and Optimus hurting frame rates, but you can plug it into a monitor with the USB C to HDMI or DisplayPort if you are looking for maximum frame rates. I'm okay with the small performance hit and gaming on my laptop screen. There are also reviews that mention its CPU constraints in cpu-bound games. Since the laptop is 4.2 lb and has a 200 watt charger (which I'm amazed how small and light it is), there's only so high of a power envelope you can have. For what this laptop is (ultra portable gaming laptop), it packs insane levels of performance. As an aside, I'm not experiencing issues like others are (speakers, backlight bleed, other QC issues). Best buy also price matched me $53 when the price briefly went down, so I was even more pleased to be able to get this machine at that price point. Overall, the Zephyrus G15 is a joy to use and has been the best daily driver I've ever owned.

Best thin and light currently available
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unlike in years past, the gaming laptop market is very fragmented and there is not one clear winner. Perhaps that will be the Legion 5 Pro or Legion 7, but every time there is an update on those laptops, it’s that they’ve been further delayed (as of this posting). I have had this laptop for 45 days and have agonized over keeping it or returning it the entire time. I ended up keeping it. Cons: Soldered RAM. I wish it had two slots so I could put in two 3200 c18 sticks. Ryzen really benefits from dual rank dual channel memory. No MUX. Everything runs through the AMD IGPU and can shave a decent amount of frames off of the top in single-threaded titles (think esports titles like StarCraft 2, etc). Fingerprint reader is hit or miss. Pros: the screen is absolutely phenomenal. 10k timespy with a little bit of overclocking. 4 pounds! My 2017 15R3 weighed 8 pounds and scored about 5k on timespy. Half the weight, double the score, and an incredibly better screen in 4 years is amazing.

So Good I bought 2!!!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok yea I did buy 2 of these why? Well one for me and one for a buddy. Now I know many of you are going to say oh it sucks because it's 1440p and it's a nvidia max-q so it's kinda bad for gaming. Yes it is if you plan on gaming at 1440p instead of dialing it down to 1080p. When you put it to 1080p I have no issues running modern warfare at 100+fps and it's beautiful. I think currently it's the best bang for the buck laptop there is. The usual pros and cons follow: Pros -Nice DCI-P3 screen so great for editing on the go if you want and a powerful enough processor for video editing and photo editing if you are into that sort of thing -Cooling is great on this laptop. It does get hot towards the middle above the keyboard but honestly no one is really touching that area while using the laptop. -keyboard (con as well) nice bounce and types really good. -Liquid Metal for CPU cooling is great as it keeps temps down but there is also a con. Cons: -Keyboard is a bit small key wise and the rough treatment gives me a bit of a lag when typing and hand feel not so good. -Liquid metal overload. Asus just put it on there and left a puddle everywhere. You don't want that as it will swish around. Had to remove some so as to not short anything even though they did put a silicone barrier around the die. -somewhat weak of a 3070 understandably they need to for something thin and light but the plus is that it does boost to 100W by lowering the CPU wattage so as to not overload the system's total wattage. -8gb soldered and 8gb on a stick. If you want more memory you can upgrade by adding more ram but max is one stick of 32gb ddr4 3200 and make sure it's an sk hynix or samsung memory as those will give you best compatibility. Overall it's a great system and would highly recommend!

Wow.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying that I previously owned last year’s G14 and while that was a great laptop, this one is better in almost every facet. First of all, this thing feels more solid, it still has the lid dots but they have a nice basic shimmer to them. Keyboard on the G14 was better and more comfortable, however, the keys are much easier to see on this one with lower light. One thing I didn’t like about the G14 was the screen. Let me tell you that this screen on the G15 is better in almost every way imaginable. Better colors, super smooth and fast. I was able to play State of Decay 2 in ultra settings without this thing breaking a sweat, it averaged 60-70fps. People complained of fan noise on the G14. This one can get loud too, however, you can adjust fan settings in ARMOURY Crate. 10/10 would recommend.

Great gaming laptop!!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The specs of this laptop are great, it plays modern title games with ease but definitely gets pretty warm under load, which is to be expected with a laptop not much you can do about thermals. I ended up putting in a 2TB nvme and decided to keep the stock ram since one stick is soldered to the motherboard and only one slot is open for upgrade, which would have hindered the ability for dual-channel. The picture looks great, 1440p is nice when gaming but I do find myself squinting at times. I don't do much video editing or rendering so I can't speak to its abilities on that but I'm sure it would do well. It's a little pricey at almost $2,000 but it is definitely good quality and in this market that's not really a terrible price for the specs you get. The only complaint I have is the keyboard as sometimes stuff gets stuck under the keys and stops them from being pressed down all the way but taking a vacuum to it usually solves that problem for me. I would really rather have play/pause buttons as opposed to the random function buttons provided like airplane mode and the snip tools, but that's just me nitpicking.

Absolute Beast (for the price)
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Of course you can get 3080 laptop, or even rtx 2070 desktop and you will get better performance. But this laptop packs in so much at its price point. I did not know that I will really use/like the finger sensor when I got it, but I really love using it (personal preference I guess). More importantly, with the color accuracy, QHD monitor, and great sound system (6 speakers I think on board? Best speaker system on a laptop I've used by far), it is such a pleasure gaming, watching Netflix, or just listening to music even. The laptop itself adds value to the video/music/gaming/editing etc, which is a huge plus for me. Battery life is superb, although I would not rely on battery power for performance of course. Design - its doesn't look like a gaming laptop, which I love. Has nice finishes, feels sturdy, doesn't feel too hot when playing game for 1-2 hours. Keyboard and typing works very smoothly, and the trackpad! Trackpad is nice and large, kind of resembling a macbook trackpad. Good recognition, but of course I would get a mouse to go with the laptop for convinience. Great software support from Asus, with its own control programs that allows u to make specific profiles for each program, so if you start running something extensive, laptop will automatically turn on Turbo mode for that program (u can even designate a volume level, screen response speed, etc for the program profile). Only con I had - sometimes it freezes for no reason (no CPU or GPU load) after watching Netflix on microsoft edge explorer, or after turning off a game. Had to turn off manually. Happened maybe once every 2 weeks? I hope it doesn't become a pattern, and hopefully future updates will fix.

I cannot say enough good things about this laptop
||Posted . It runs great for doing my school work and kills games like Rocket league and CSGO, and runs War Thunder for hours on max graphics settings, the only limiting factor being the screen resolution, which is not at all a problem. It runs a little loud when under load but the fans and heat sinks keep the CPU and GPU to where they both come no where near any thermal throttling or damaging temperatures. The bottom of the computer gets a little hot and so does the screen just because of where some of the ventilation is places, but this only happens when under load and I don’t think many people game in their laps. The left side can seem a little cluttered with plugs but I love that it has 2 USB ports with one on each side, but because of this the right side looks super sleek and clean in my opinion. My Biggest complaint is how dirty the keyboard can get, the spacing between keys and the bottom of the keyboard allows a lot of debris and dust to get in under the keys, no performance issues, just cosmetics. I strongly recommend at least a year or two warranty as I screwed up my motherboard, breaking the audio jack, and they replaced the whole board no questions asked with my warranty, and they had it back within a week, even giving me directions on how to reinstall windows and hen I picked it back up. Overall the experience with BestBuy was great, and this computer is even better. Overall Fantastic dual purpose computer good battery life for when I’m at school working. Fantastic Performance when plugged in and gaming and running discord talking with friends. I truly can’t say enough good things about this laptop. If you read all of this thank you :)

Great laptop for gamers who do more than game
||Posted . There may be some better performing laptops out there for the same price range, but they won’t touch the battery life and overall design comfort of this laptop. Great battery life. Good FPS in games. Great display and color. Good port selection, but I wish the layout was better. Good FPS in games, better than other 3070 laptops that I tried. Sturdy feeling build. Good feeling trackpad. Keyboard feels good, but I wish it had a little more resistance. Happy with this purchase.

Spectacular value

I am NOT a gamer but i am a heavy multimedia/photo/audio/video editing type creative so I need juice. As usual I searched and searched and looked at many different makes/models. The laptop world is a bit strange right now (early 2022)--lots of 1650 gpus, or 3050s--okay for my purposes but also old (1650) or nerfed (3050, 4GB vram, really?). Lots of dodgy performance claims from certain quarters, and prices have definitely gone up a lot recently due to macroeconomic conditions. So... Best Buy to the rescue: the specs on this unit are absolutely fantastic and unimpeachable: the 5900HS is a very fine CPU, no question about it. The 3070--ahh, that's more like it! Good golly, this thing is fast and smooth. My son loaded up CS:GO for s's and g's and he's a bit jealous now, though he has a great desktop rig. The screen! 165hz/1440??!?!?! Okay, yes, thank you! 1TB SSD, yummy. Very nice touchpad, outstanding battery life for the performance on tap and plugged in this thing is a monster. Finding this for $1550 here was at the top of my budget but I'm so glad I pulled the trigger. I will take this over any Apple M1 for creative work any day, and those are fine machines too, but in real world use (and not just curated benchmarks) this thing smokes a MBP, at half the price. I've never written such a long review, I hope it's helpful to you, probably not, but then again this kit is so fast that I wrote it in only negative three seconds, so there!

Quality control issues, meh battery, hot lap
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tested two G15s to make sure the first one I had wasn't a lemon but both had similar problems. Both of them had mediocre battery life around 4-6 hours, not all day as advertised. Both had inconsistent gaming performance. Both of them have loud fans during gaming, which is to be expected but I didn't think it would be THAT loud. Both of the finger print readers didn't work well. One of them had speaker issues. Both got far hotter than expected on my lap while web surfing. I spent a couple hours troubleshooting each one before giving up. If I'm going to spend 1800 I expect better. Maybe I'm just unlucky here. I replaced it with a G14 and am happier, temps run much cooler and the battery life is amazing. Performance in games is more consistent with some tweaks. Beyond that the screen looks great and the performance is generally good. Not mobile enough for a laptop, for me.

Great Value for money with good performance!

Asus has managed it keep it light weight (given the specs)making it easy to carry it around. Would definitely recommend for college students. Also looks sleek and not too flashy in your face kinda look. Cons - I feel zyphyrus series should have 6 cell battery instead of 4 cell although it might lead to increase in weight but still. Also, I believe Zephyrus series should have the web cam built in as for me its the perfect hybrid, you know built for great gaming experience but also good for study/ work. If the Strix sereis doesn't have the built in web cam its fine but I think they should integrate it into Zephyrus series. All in all would definitely recommend it, good job Asus
