Customers are saying
Customers find value in the ROG Zephyrus 15.6" gaming laptop's performance, graphics, build quality, and lightweight design. However, some users experienced issues with excessive heat generation, short battery life, and occasional fan noise. The keyboard also received some negative feedback. While the display and RAM are generally well-regarded, storage capacity may be a limiting factor for some users.

Carters Review
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Couldnt have asked for better tech support when i was purchasing this. Also couldnt have asked for a better laptop. But... there is only one small issue. One of the pixels in the screen has sadly died so i have i tiny microscopic white dot in the top left of my screen but it doesnt annoy my to much only in a dark scene of a movie or game. Totally recommend this product.

It's a gaming laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's good but it's really hot, so hot in fact, that the manufacturers had to slot vents underneath the wasd keys so you're able to use it while gaming, as the thermals are pretty hot. external keyboard is definitely recommended, along with a stand to help ventilate the bottom. This was my first jump into laptop gaming and I'm really surprised how far moving gaming has come, but I ultimately returned it as I don't travel often enough to benefit from a compact gaming device, and would prefer a tower PC.

Great Machine Overall With A Few Subjective Cons
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd give this 4.5 stars due to the low comparative price for a Ryzen 9, DDR5, and NVidia 3060... powerful hardware at a much lower price point than the competition. That said I could not give 5 stars because it isn't without a few little foibles. Note: I am not a gamer but prefer top of the line hardware to future proof, so gaming laptops are the go-to. I did upgrade it to a 1TB SSD and 40GB DDR RAM. Pros For Me: Light, thin case with easy-open LCD Best touchpad feel in 30+ years of using computers Nice keyboard with enough key travel for comfort Backlit keys are perfect for working in low-light conditions Nice vivid display Fast Quiet (not gaming so fan rarely turns on) Keyboard is standard layout (no separate keypad) Once bottom case is off it's easy access to most of the hardware you might want to maintain, change, or upgrade over time Cons For Me: Machine booted with backlit keyboard lights flashing and changing colors and wasn't easy to quickly stop it and set the backlight to a static color of my choice. This due to the gaming theme of the software (Aura Core) being big, flashy and over-complicated if you're used to just going to "Settings" and clicking what you want quickly. Had to actually search online how to stop the flashing lights and set the keyboard color. However, once set it's maintained the settings, so minor. And Aura Core does give you some helpful stats in a sharp looking interface. Machine throws off a lot of heat through the keyboard and top chassis gets warm to the touch. Kinda nice in winter, not as nice in summer, but not a big deal. The keyboard letters/symbols are in a gaming font (I am guessing) that isn't quite as readable to me at a quick glance, especially the squashed F and Fn keys with double symbols on them. But again, minor and some might like it. No Thunderbolt port Only a micro SD port (my older camera uses standard SD) AC Adapter port is midway on left side, instead of tucked away at the rear. USB ports on left side are near the very front, so that if I have a stick or device plugged in my left arm tends to hit them while typing and I rest my arms on my recliner arms and the laptop is in my lap on a lapdesk. I wish they were further back, at least halfway, but the AC input is there, so... There is no access door to the SSD ports or RAM on the underside of the machine, so to access any hardware you have to remove close to 15 screws then carefully use a guitar pick to free the little clips, but then it does come off easy at that point and you have full access. I would have preferred access doors for when all you want to do is add/swap an SSD or RAM. All that said, I got a second machine after setting up my first one. The hardware and price point make them a great buy imo. Installed Ubuntu on one machine which was a little bit of a job since you need extra little apps to make the Fn keys work, etc, and the Aura Core is Windows only, so there are little scripts and apps to replace those basic functions too (keyboard lights, fan speed, etc). But it's running Ubuntu great and is my daily driver. The other machine is a spare. If you are someone who wants a workhorse computer with top of the line hardware that can handle VMs or anything else you might throw at it, I'd recommend it.
