I bought this laptop just under 2 years ago and purchased the total tech protection for many electronics from best buy. I drove 3 hours to have my fans replaced from the geek squad and to have my screen repaired for the multiple pixel outages. I was told by the staff there is nothing that they can do to fix my issues. To add since I bought a higher quality laptop (Gaming) tech support does not repair gaming laptops. This is not mentioned when purchasing multiple thousands of dollars of electronics from Best Buy. I am a computer guy for over 25 years. This is unacceptable as a protection plan to be stated that the Geek Squad will fix your issues when they can't even do basic component replacement that take 5 minutes to do. If a fan goes out in your laptop. This is now a critical issue due to the amount of heat generated. Now you may need to replace the entire laptop for a basic component replacement. I use my laptop everyday for work. I can not give it to support (which ships it out to a service center) for 2 to 3 weeks for a diagnostics that should only take 30 minutes to an hour to complete. Unsatisfactory support that is not worth your time nor money. Don't drive 3 hours like me to an appointment, that nothing will be fixed. This is the first time I have bought the total protection ($200 annually) plan for thousands of dollars spent in Best Buy.

Purchase the laptop for its available ports. I enjoy using it.

Excellent computer. It's my third laptop I've ever had and I'm very impressed because it's very wearable: You can watch your media in 2k, you can play almost any title in FullHD, you can carry the laptop anywhere as it only weighs about 1.7 kg. It's just amazing. At least for me.

This ASUs ROG laptop is top notch. It features an amazing graphics card. Would be nice to have a larger hard drive however. Runs hot as all good gaming systems. So far pleased with its performance. Battery Life is not stellar.

The ASUS - ROG Zephyrus 15.6” is a sleek gaming machine. To start, for being a gaming laptop I was very surprised at the low profile. The 15.6in screen is a moderate size with wonderful display capabilities. The laptop is about 3/4th an inch thick, slim enough to slip into a bag easily… and the weight is about 4lbs, which is absolutely spectacular for a gaming laptop. This laptop is easy to pack and and take on the go, versus my most recent one that feels like a paperweight and is bulky. With that, the charger itself is relatively small in size; the power-cord is one of my least desirable points of the laptop in that the length of the charger is pretty short. I did not measure it out, but I’m thinking it’s about 6ft, slightly limiting for prolonged gaming if one wants to be up in a cozy chair or the couch. Setup of the laptop is smooth. Windows 11 is pre-installed and there is a trial of Xbox game pass available at the time of this review. A good gateway into various available PC games if one does not already have their niche or game availability. Being an ASUS - ROG laptop, there is the “Armoury Crate”, a system HUB designed with gaming in mind. There is an RGB keyboard able to display colors well, including purple and oranges… if you peek under the keys you can see very small grids of the light, a lovely feature in my opinion. Along with the RGB keyboard, is the ability to enable Aura Wallpaper, part of the Armoury Crate. This is an RGB syncapable, dynamic backgrounds that add to the style many a gamer prefers (as myself). The keyboard does not include a separate number pad; a make or break it for some. On each side of the keyboard are the speakers. At first, I thought this a weird design but while playing games or music, this provides an immersible feeling based on sound coming from both sides of the laptop. There are 4 programmable macro type keys at the top of the keyboard, an absolute plus to design. Touchpad is centered and using the touchpad and keyboard is comfortable even while gaming. There are various ports. The charging port is located on the left side, centered. I’ve found myself hitting this on less objects than when the port is near the back of a device. Left side includes HDMI, ethernet, USB 3, headphone jack and 2 USB-C ports. The right side includes a USB 3 and micro-SD card slot. Plus bluetooth enabled. This allows for the most common variety needs. There are exhausts for fans both on the posterior sides of the device and the back, with a sleek design to them for an aesthetic appeal. The top of the laptop is a design that is sleek and not blaring in ones face. An aspect of this laptop is that, to the untrained eye one would not expect the laptop to be as well equipped, which I consider an advantage when using in public. The laptop comes equipped with the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060. It is well accepted that both AMD Ryzen 9 CPU and NVIDIA RTX 3060 are known to be of spectacular quality and integrate well between each other. Gameplay of FFXIV was completely seamless. GTA5 (my favorite old go to) and Warzone were both fantastic also. Smooth gameplay with an easy 60fps and no blue screens of death after days of playing at this point. While being lightweight. There is 512GB SSD for storage, a moderate amount providing enough space for favorite games to be installed. The system is advertised as 8GB of DDR5 RAM included and this was probably my largest concern getting the laptop; however, it does seem as there is 16GB total to my surprise (tHUB reads as 15.2 usable). This is achieved by 8GB being on board, and the other 8GB being additional - there is this one utilized slot, expandable to a total of 40GB. As the RAM appeared to be the limiting factor for this device, I was pleasantly surprised. And equipped with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440, this laptop is prepared to provide a beautiful display and gaming experience with 165Hz refresh rate. The laptop does have a web camera equipped, it is 720p so nothing insane but a good feature to have after a global pandemic changed the way we communicate with others. With the camera comes facial recognition for unlocking the device which is a nifty plus as you log right in.. if you are really you! There is also a cable lock slot if one will be in public places but needing to leave for a moment. I am absolutely satisfied to have begun utilizing this laptop. I have been able to keep it comfortably in my lap for extended periods of time while on the couch, gaming with ease. I have enjoyed being able to turn up graphic settings in my most favored computer games while having them in my lap and the keys are not loud but smooth. A device able to be used for many an hour without disturbing the world around you.
