Great laptop, perfect for my needs

The G14 was a bit faster with a better screen but wanted something with a bigger screen for when I’m using it as a laptop. Overall very happy with this M16 and my decision to exchange for this. Plenty fast, powerful and hasn’t skipped a beat on anything I’ve used it for. Wished it came with 1tb storage like the G14 but at least I can add another ssd when I need to.

But, after around 10 days of usage I'm somewhat disappointed for the following reasons: 1. The laptop gets even under low/medium loads. even if you're just browsing the internet and have a few PDFs open, the CPU temperature will be around 70 deg C, the upper part of the keyboard will be extremely hot (you can't keep your fingers there for more than 5 seconds, and the other parts of the keyboard feel uncomfortable too), and if you're not in an AC room, you can feel the hot air enough to make you sweat at times. This can also affect the longevity of the components as well as the hot air from the front vents can affect the screen too. 2. The battery life is poor and nowhere close to 10 hours as claimed by ASUS. It is more like 4 hours for low loads. 3. The webcam is pathetic. I'm not sure how a laptop with such price tag can have such low-quality camera. Laptop cameras are not known to be of super high resolution, but this one is just BAD. This is my second ASUS Rog M16 after I returned the first one for the exact same reasons. I though the heating issue was perhaps a problem with my unit but having the same issues in this unit too makes me believe that the issue is with the design of the laptop itself.

Battery tests conducted by ASUS used the default video playback scenario with WiFi enabled without connecting Access Point and the display brightness set to 150 nits. Ran very hot with very simple use

Was told this was the best one to get and a good price. I didn’t need it for crazy gaming. But after getting it and using it for a very short period of time, it started to get very hot. To the point it was uncomfortable. I had to get my cooling table out to put it on. For the price you should not be having this problem. I returned it.

We do understand your concern about thermal issues. It is normal for the laptop, with the same hardware configuration and regardless of the manufacturer, to generate more heat than normal while under heavy load especially during gaming, WINDOWS Update and antivirus scan and the battery is being charged while the laptop is being used. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle. Please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. While gaming, please ensure no resource hungry applications, processes and services are running in the background, this will definitely spike the temperature. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down.

It cuts out a lot. My other devices had no issues playing 2k videos, except for this laptop. In tried adjusting the Wi-Fi settings and no luck. Other than that, this thing is amazing. It does get really hot when playing games, but that’s a given. I also had a lot of issues keeping it clean. The soft texture where the keyboard and track pad are located is so prone to finger prints and just oils in general.
