It is a 1920x1200 display, not the listed 2560x1600. Mine also came with a dead pixel.

Disappointing limited specs and inadequate storage

However I’m giving this laptop a single star because the single upgradable ram slot is ridiculous and the tiny SSD capacity is laughable. I was only able to install three games before the SSD was full, for nearly two grand with tax you would expect more. Clearly this is a cost saving measure from ASUS like the single ram slot nonsense but it also makes ASUS seem out of touch or woefully unaware of how large modern AAA titles have gotten. So my options here it would seem are to spend a few hundred dollars to an already costly purchase to bring the storage capacity up to par with modern standards or return it. One last but minor problem I’ve had is that small images on the screen like a character portrait in a game or profile pictures tend to appear blurry making the display quality look cheap, I’m not sure if mine possibly has a defect or if this is just the nature of the lower resolution screen on this model but it does somewhat takeaway from the user experience. I don’t think I’ll be keeping this system, for the cost of upgrading the ram and SSD I can get something with much better specs mainly a far more powerful GPU.

Power in a pleasant package

That sounds par for the course, but my experience has been that most gaming laptops look less than sleek and are quite bulky. This is where I had immediate love for my new ROG Zephyrus. Unpacking it, pulling it out of the box, I really liked the look and feel of this rig. It is much lighter than my former gaming laptop, with a more pleasing footprint that rivals some non-gaming laptops. The feel of the build quality is closer to premium than that of most gaming machines – they have a tendency at times to be heavier, but more plasticky. There are nice rubber feet on the bottom to prevent sliding, with the rear standing higher than the front, giving a more hand and wrist friendly lean to the laptop base and breathing space. The screen is nearly edge-to-edge horizontally and has 180-degree fold capability. All the necessary ports are present for hardcore gaming and content creation – ethernet port, USB-A and USB-C (with Thunderbolt), HDMI, and headset. The overall look is that of a business laptop, but with a Matrix style graphic on the top – looks cool when light hits it just the right way. This thing really has a nice screen. It is bright, clear, and has the refresh rate to give gamers exactly what they want – smooth, snappy graphics. The keyboard is very good, and the track pad is spacious and responsive. The sound is fantastic as well – one of the best I’ve heard on a laptop. It has oomph with clarity, if you get my drift. Considering the specs, I don’t see a gamer on any level having a problem playing games on this rig. It admirably handles games like CoD, RB6, Tomb Raider, etc without a hitch – smooth, consistent, and responsive. If I could change anything, it would be the screen. I would have loved it to have been 1440, but 1080 not only works, but works very well. Some people will want more just because more is possible. That doesn’t define the quality of this laptop – it’s a definite winner in the gaming department. It also handles content creation like the little beast it is. If you are a video editing, streaming regular, this may be the device for you as well. If you are in the market for a portable PC with decent battery life, gaming power, and the ability to handle heavy workloads and tasks, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus is can’t miss. It checks all the boxes and it comes in one of the smallest packages I’ve seen for a rig with this level of computing power.

Not a gaming laptop, shocks you from the bottom.

Brand new, downloaded WoW dragonflight, was not playable on default graphic settings. Whole PC would lag and WoW would shut off. I set all the graphics to the lowest setting and still overheating and shutting off (Fab on turbo super loud). I literally have nothing else downloaded but WoW. Also this Laptop shocks me when I pick it up to move it from the bottom. Absolute Garbage. Be very wary of all the good reviews. Almost positive I received a refurbished product. Very disappointed.

The body of this laptop is well made. It only comes in black, I'm not a fan of different colored electronics anyway. The finish on it is a smooth yet slightly rubberized texture. Opening and closing of the laptop is effortless and it's very light and easily portable. The laptop comes with a plethora of connection ports- HDMI 2.0b 2 USB 3.2 Type A 1 USB 3.2 Type C Thunderbolt 4 DisplayPort As you see from the headline of the laptop, it has more than enough juice to pack a punch while gaming. The updated cards and memory allow for quick loading and start up times as well as minimal to zero lag while playing. I personally didn't experience any lag but I have the highest tier internet package at my home for gaming and I don't have an issue with any other devices. Buy with confidence! audio jack I know this is a gaming laptop, but I think it would also be great for college students to be able to get their work done and also use it for watching movies and such.

Great Performing Gaming Laptop

The 2022 version is a huge upgrade over 2021 versions. Asus upgraded the memory to improve the performance. This i7 outperforms the i9 2021 I had. Passmark performance testing scores it in the mid 60's, but there is a caveat. The Nvidia drivers have an issue with 2D rendering in the test. There is no way to turn off G-Sync in Nvidia Control Panel otherwise this machine scored over 70 in every other test, the lowest being the memory at 72. All other tests were 80 or higher. If the 2D rendering was even a 70 percentile, this laptop would likely be in the 80 percentile. Game wise, I have yet to run into any lag anywhere. While the 16 GB memory could use a few more GB, it handles everything smoothly with no issues. Rocket League runs without any teleporting. The game play is smooth and the visuals are beautiful. Minecraft has no lag in block rendering. Game play is smooth and enjoyable. Nascar Heat runs extremely smooth. There are no delays and no pauses when you have the usual too many cars on screen. No Man's Sky is smooth and fluid. This laptop really makes the game more immersive. I have not tried Forza on here yet, looking forward to that. As for the hardware there are plenty of ports for a laptop. One HDMI, two USB A ports, two USB C ports (one is thunderbolt), micro-SD and power port. One warning, the hard drive is 512 GB so adding some storage is a good plan, I use either USB connected or micro SD. Your choice. A 1 TB drive would have been great, but the 512 is a great performer. The laptop is designed so it rises up for extra cooling, and Asus has done a great job with the cooling. The fan may get a little loud at times but the temps stay at a very good temp when the CPU and GPU are going full tilt. One other area Asus seems to have upgraded is the keyboard. It feels much more tactile and better feedback than the 2021 versions. The screen is a 165 refresh rate and performs beautifully with no tearing and no signs of edge bleed. I have two monitors set up, one connecting through USB Type C. Have a three screen setup does not bother this workhorse at all. If you are looking for a really solid portable gaming solution. This is a excellent choice and highly recommended.
