Many appreciate the upgradable RAM and the sleek design, although some users note that the device can get warm and the fans can be loud. Good laptop with a couple small flaws
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Computer is quiet good, runs super smoothly and can handle most everything thrown at it. I've been able to run Minecraft at high frame rates with very detailed shder add ons. And the display is very detailed, which makes up for it being smaller than normal laptops. The weight is also amazing, you can Carry it around without any discomfort. Only thing I will say is the ram is a bit low, so you should invest in adding 16 gigabytes to get up to 32 gigs(there is only one additional slot f.y.i) The only other problem I have is it gets very hot, so after 15-20 minutes of use you can feel the heat through the keyboard (not burning, but warm) and fans can be quiet loud. And a final thing I will say is this computer goes on sale every week (I've watched it for the past 4 months daily) so if you are going to buy make sure it is on sale.

MUST BUY! ROG nailed this one.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve owned many computers. And this fits every need. I love the size, performance and battery life. You won’t regret this purchase! I upgraded the ram by adding a 16gb stick in making it 32 gb and upgraded the storage to a 1tb ssd. This laptop unlike others is easy to get into and fix. Display is amazing! I play with a laptop stand and a little fan to help with cooling and I’ve had no issues at all with cooling!

Best laptop for portability without sacrifice
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very high performance for such a small machine, looks cool and has a magnesium alloy chassis. Handles everything I’ve thrown at it but it does get volcanically hot, doesn’t bother me but makes me question the lifespan. Other than that it’s perfect for me going to college and gaming, battery life is amazing too. Wouldn’t pay the retail 1600 though, it doesn’t have enough power to justify that. 1,100 on sale is perfect. You can get more powerful laptops for that price but it won’t be in such a small form factor, this is a laptop for someone with portability as the main priority but doesn’t want to sacrifice much power to get it

Lightweight, good performance, but fragile and hot
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 is a surprisingly lightweight gaming laptop with impressive performance. Despite its thumbnail appearance, the RGB keyboard adds a vibrant touch, and the modern white color stands out. It excels in gaming, but heat buildup is a concern, as well as battery life. Within two weeks or so, my laptop wouldn't turn on, leading to a motherboard replacement under manufacturer warranty since it was a faulty unit. Best Buy handled it quickly without any charges, and they sent it to get it fixed without any charges.

Honest review
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros -slick,nice feel ,durable, handles most games escape from tarkov , pal world , warzone , battlefield 2042 very good not much fps drops Now the bad- very loud fans will max right out not even fully loading up a game ,and i mean extremely loud , the battery plug is in the middle of the keyboard on the side so makes it weird typing if you have big hands also seems to be very loose and will break easy the back lit keys are dim you can hardly see them after about 5 mins of game play you get a weird burnt plastic smell coming from the laptop which made me look into the thermals more this thing runs stupid hot cpu sits about 75c to 80c doing nothing the gpu will shut off if just sitting and the cpu will take over handling your display but during game play the gpu will take back over and will go from 73c to 80c in about 20 to 30 mins of game play i would recommend a cooling pad If you dont mind noise and can upgrade the storage and possibly add better cooling to it this thing would be great but i am gonna return mine

Great laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is very good, use it specially for coding, but also on games. Battery and charging is excellent, but not long while playing AAA games. Awesome how the fans can be changed to a certain speed, and how smooth it runs on high quality. Siege works PERFECT on max settings, just be aware to keep an eye on the battery. It does heat up fast, so make sure to open it all the way.

Gets really hot!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got it cheap but you NEED an extra cooling fan for it, gets burning hot after 5 mins of usage. Like putting your hand on the stove hot… works very well for gaming and music software so I didn’t mind spending the $20 for a good fan Also! Idk if it bothers you but it bothered me… there’s no number pad on the right side of the computer, it’s only the number strip on top jsyk.

Worst customer service number
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product to bad Best Buy has the worst customer service. Should have purchased the product from Amazon. I was told to call the help center to get assistance in ordering replacement screws for the laptop cover. Wasted 30 minutes talking to someone who refused to assist with my request because she said the store lied even though they handle online orders, and I purchased my laptop online. Laptop run starfield great just need to upgrade ram and hardrive space. Run a bit hot so look for a good cooling pad. Gaming battery life is horrible only get around 75 minutes before you hit 10%.

ASUS always delivers, beast of a machine
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.ASUS is known for making top quality products that focus on usability and customization. Both are represented here with the GA402XV-G14. This laptop sits in an almost perfect balance of form factor, usability and performance. Out of the box, the design of the laptop is very straightforward, a nice white slab. 14” is a sweet spot for me, however if you’re looking for a hardcore gaming laptop, you might want to look at something with a larger screen. For me, 14” offers a nice balance for both gaming and home office, web surfing and even light picture/video editing. While not the thinnest or lightest out there, it never feels too big or too heavy, but just right. It has the unmistakable ROG design asthtice with angled perforation and hard angle vents, etc. Very nice to look at. It also offers a nice matte feel both outside and in. The I/O is split across both sides, with the right side offering 2 USB-A, 1 USB-C ports and a microSD slot, and the left side housing the power, HDMI 2.0, additional USB-C and headphone jack. All the USB portals are 3.2. I really wish the HDMI port was 2.1 for hooking up to compatible external monitors, big miss there for me considering the GPU inside. The networking inside is 802.AX and Wi-Fi 6E compatible. Connection is super-fast if you have the capable network hardware. I have an ASUS Wi-Fi 6E mesh network in my home, the PRO ET 12, and the laptop connects instantly at 2.4Gbps. Wi-Fi download speeds on my 1GB fiber connection were amazing even on the standard 5ghz band, around 750Mbps consistently anywhere in the house. The monitor lid has the traditional ROG fan blade design which hinges down behind the laptop, creating more immersive feel when viewing and keeping bottom bezel fatigue to a minimum. The keyboard is very nice, with full size keys in a chiclet style. Keys are very firm and pleasant to type on, which good response feedback, but almost virtually silent, no “click” or anything. You get all the traditional key placements including some custom ASUS buttons that will take you directly into the Armory Crate app and also keys for backlight, GPU modes and more. Boot up for me was super fast, even right out of the box. It did the usual Windows and application updates for the first few minutes which is expected for any new PC purchase. I will say, for the first couple days I thought I had an issue with the storage encryption software BitLocker. After boot ups from sleep or a recent update, I would be taken to the BitLocker Recovery screen. That seemed concerning at first, you shouldn’t be presented with storage recovery on a simple boot. I looked online to find some support answers, and actually after a few more ASUS updates, including one directly to the BIOS, the issue seems to have gone away. So I’m going to just chalk this up to some settings on my machine and possible config changes that updates were making, until finally a more recent update to the BIOS got it all squared away. You also have the option to turn off BitLocker if you choose, but that leaves your storage unencrypted. Needless to say, this machine is a beast. The specs are all here, Ryzen 9, plenty of RAM, RTX 4060 GPU, etc. This thing can handle just about anything you throw at it. All the benchmark testing was super impressive, I’ll attach some screen shots. When using for home office or watching videos or web surfing, just having fun, you can’t put a dent in this. It’s flawless. The speed at which applications open and close, multitasking, it’s all super impressive. The onboard display resolution is 2560 x 1440 (QHD) at 165hz. The screen is beautiful. Colors pop, blacks are deep, HDR looks really good. It has a matte finish as well so reflections are not a problem. Some people might be looking for a touchscreen capability at this price? But I’m not one of them. The display is great! I also love the amount of customization that ASUS and NVIDIA allow you, when configuring and tweaking the display and GPU settings. You have access to everything. ASUS makes most of the main controls right up front and easy to find in their custom dashboard, and then NVIDIA control panel allows you to configure to your hearts content, to get the best possible experience out of this machine. Gaming was excellent on this. Yes the processing power and GPU are beasts, but it is still a laptop. So you’re not going to play most current games at their highest end settings and get full FPS or resolution. But you can come pretty close. Being able to tailor in game settings with the GPU settings independently means you can find that sweet spot for each of your favorite games to maximize the resolution and FPS. Games played super smooth and in such hi fidelity. I was also able to push my LG UltraGear 48” 48GQ900 OLED external display at full resolution and 120hz. So when I’m at home and want to have that large, immersive experience on the LG, this laptop can deliver flawlessly. Picture editing using Lightroom was amazing as well. Using the LG display, pictures were vibrant and accurate, and the ASUS didn’t struggle at all to run the app plus push the monitor. It’s going to be a great workflow machine for both home and travel. It does have a few things I don’t love, some are small like the activity lights are centered above the keyboard, but they are behind the top panel, actually facing the screen. So unless you stretch to look over the top of the keyboard to see your activity lights, you won’t see them, but a small tiny reflection in the bottom bezel of the display. The charging brick is HUGE. It does deliver a ton of power and rightfully so, but I feel it could be smaller, and also the location of the power input is right in the middle of the left side I/O. It should be placed more toward the rear of the chassis. Last is the heat. When using GPU intensive programs, this thing gets hot. Like really hot. The fans are not the quietest I’ve ever heard, but not the loudest either. With that said, you will hear a lot of fan noise. Once the GPU gets humming, the fans will hum non stop. Headphones will be a must for longer gaming sessions. I will say I also feel I noticed some heat throttling when gaming for a period of time, when it became it’s hottest, FPS certainly did dip when playing the same games with no change in physical settings. I would 100% recommend a laptop stand for this, as the bottom becomes so hot you could cook on it. And the vent design to me is terrible. The main exhaust fans vent out the rear. Usually that’s fine. But ASUS laptops have that fan blade design that hinges down, so the bottom of the display lid sits directly behind the back of the chassis. So all the hot air is being exhausted out the back, directly on to the display. Doesn’t make sense to me. All in all, I love this machine, it’s the second ASUS ROG 14” laptop we have in our home, and we love them!

Good laptop for the price
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall a good laptop for the cost; even better if you have the time to install g-helper and fine tune it to your uses. Pro: 0. When on sale, the price/performance of this laptop is very good; if you need more than 16gb of memory like I do, it beats every other similar laptop currently available in 2024, including the 2024 version of this 1. Can charge via USB-C (there is a downside to this too, see cons) 2. Reasonably light (the 2024 version is lighter but has soldered ram), if you don't carry its own charger 3. 1 slot upgradeable ram (+ 16gb built in); you can get 32gb of ram reasonably cheaply; you can even get a 48gb stick to bring this to 64gb if you don't need quad channel above 32gb (DDR5 is by default dual channel, so the first 16gb you put in the slot will give you quad channel, and dual channel thereafter) 4. Trackpad/screen/keyboard are all pretty good for the price point 5. GPU can be turned off completely and battery life using only the CPU+iGPU is decent Cons: 0. USB C charging go through battery even if it provides enough power for laptop. This means that 1) it degrades your battery when you do this and 2) you only get on-battery performance while plugged into USB C 1. The ports are placed towards the mid/front of the laptop, which means anything you plug in on the right side (or whichever side you use your mouse on) can interfere with your mouse usage. This is particularly annoying because all type A ports are on the right side. It's a solvable issue with a USB C hub on the left side. 2. Laptop gets pretty warm to the touch, even though I've tuned it to use much lower power (~25W CPU, ~50W GPU under heavy load). There's also vents on the left/right side of the laptop that can blow hot air onto your hand. 3. The top of the touchpad takes far too much pressure to physically click; this is especially strange if you're used to the macbook touchpad. Tapping it works fine though. And I wish the keycaps are slightly bigger like the 2024 version, but it's serviceable. The touchpad can sometimes be triggered while playing games, but it does offer an easy way to turn it off so that's a plus. 4. Charger is heavy; but you can use USB C in a pinch, assuming you're okay with the downsides aforementioned.

My Perfect Portable Gaming Laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve owned a few of ASUS ROG laptops, my favorite for a while had been the M16 from a couple of years ago. I even tried out the G14 from last year and ended up sticking with the M16 and letting one of my sons use the G14. This new G14 has me ditching everything else. It really is almost the perfect device for me. First, let’s begin with the fact that I really enjoy playing games, hence getting the G14, but aside from that I really like to have a portable device with decent battery life that isn’t too loud, and stays relatively cool. I like to do a lot of work around the house, and I carry my laptops back and forth with me from work to home daily. This great G14 ticks all those boxes for a portability workstation. It stays very cool, and quiet when using it on my lap. I could even get away with using it without a lap desk, something that I can’t say about most laptops, especially gaming ones. The sound when using for work, email, web browsing, Office is also super quiet. I can even get away using it while someone is sleeping near me without disturbing them. Battery life is enough for me, I can generally get over 6 hours on a charge when I use it for work. This is more than enough for me since; I am usually near an outlet. Now, let’s move on to what most are wanting to hear about from a gaming laptop. Performance is amazing. The RTX4060 paired with the AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics really gives you so many options for fantastic gaming performance. The 16GB of onboard RAM and processing power allow you to run just about any game at high resolutions while maintaining great, consistent frame rates. This outperforms my previous G14 and M16 by a good margin. Games load up very quickly, and I have yet to see any dropped frames from most games. Now, as is expected when you are pushing this system all out for your gaming sessions, you will increase the temperatures and fan noise will get much louder. Both seem to be less than my previous 2 ROG laptops. I am not sure if it’s the power efficiency of AMDs new CPUs or ASUS better heat dissipation, maybe both. I tested game performance using Elden Ring, WoW, Halo Infinite, Fortnite, and the Witcher 3, this gaming rig was able to handle each one without any problems. Everything was smooth and beautiful. A couple of things that I ended up having to upgrade but might be different for others was the SSD and RAM. The included 512GB SSD is great, but with the size of today’s games I wanted a little more wiggle room. I ended up getting a 1TB SSD installed. While doing that a couple of things worth noting came up. First, you only get 1 SSD slot so that means you don’t get to keep the 512GB SSD and add your upgrade. You will need to replace the 512GB drive to upgrade. Second, the 16GB of included RAM from what I can tell is onboard, but you get 1 empty RAM expansion slot. It was easy enough to have another 16GB of DDR5 memory installed to bring it up to a total of 32GB of RAM. Both upgrades were relatively inexpensive and for me at least really make my experience using it that much better. The other thing that I ended up investing in was a 100w USBC PD charger. I was able to find one at Best Buy. This allows me to leave the included barrel charger on my desk at home, and just carry around the smaller 100w charger in my bag. I don’t really recommend using the 100w chargers for gaming, stick to the included barrel version, but it’s good enough for working and streaming. I really, really enjoy using this laptop. It handles my portability/working necessities without any problem, and easily runs any AAA games that I throw at it. Good battery life, great thermals, fantastic performance, good portability, and I really love the design. This is such an easy recommendation to anyone looking for a great gaming setup but would like to stay mobile.

Definitely worth consideration
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you’re looking for a MacBook alternative that punches above its price-point, this is it. Asus builds a decent product, not top-tier but definitely not budget either. Build quality is good but the majority plastic construction feels a little less than premium. The display is bright and colorful, the refresh rate is a nice bonus and doesn’t heat up. I don’t like the keyboard, it feels spongy and the rounded edges of the keys makes it feel clumsy. Let’s talk about the processor….wow! It’s powerful (on performance mode) and has decent battery life (in eco mode). It does make a lot of noise when running it at full power and still builds heat despite the ridiculously loud fans. I plugged it into my 65” 4k HDR tv, closed the lid, and used a game controller to get away from the noise. Gaming on the big screen tv playing Starfield maxed out on graphics settings yielded a smooth experience with almost no FPS drops. I upgraded the RAM to 32gb and put the fastest M.2 SSD I could find into it and now, no frame rate drops. Overall, I’m extremely happy with this laptop. It’s a mid-tier gaming setup with $300 worth of upgrades but also a docile easy to transport everyday laptop. I’ve seen up to 9 hours of battery life offline, 5 streaming videos. It’s light and small enough to go in my bag almost everyday. I see it lasting me a couple of years and at this price point, that’s not too bad.

Sleek and Minimalistic
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the sleek, minimalistic design and am a big fan of the matte white finish. The performance is great for the price, especially if you can pick it up during a sale. The screen is beautiful and vibrant, making watching YouTube and browsing the web a treat. It runs smoothly when using editing software (in my case, SolidWorks 2023). It's a great choice if you're looking for something that looks like a Mac but is running windows, considering the branding of ROG (Republic of Gamers). This PC doesn't scream 'gamer,' which I like. The only downside I have with it is the facial recognition to sign in isn't the best and only really works when you're looking at the camera from a certain angle; even then, it doesn't work most of the time. My second complaint is the mousepad. It isn't as responsive as I would like, and its size makes it hard to navigate basic tasks. The Storage capacity in this model is absurd. A 1TB SSD is what it should be rather than 512GB. Keep in mind, windows 11 takes up a chunk of that space. The laptop does get a little hot if you're doing demanding tasks, such as playing video games. I would recommend getting a laptop stand to address the heat issue. I give this laptop an 7/10.

Perfect Lightweight Gaming and Travel Rig
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great gaming laptop. Lightweight, sleek, and well built. I was apprehensive on the white color, screen size, and build. With the great deals that often run on this rig, the color was a gamble but seeing it in person and having used it for over a month, my doubts have been laid to rest. The screen size is just about perfect for anything you would need on the road. The build is high quality and there is no concern on the hinges after hauling it around in a backpack for training. The gpu, cpu, and ram you get for the money (especially if you get a deal which runs often) is hard to beat. It has run every current game with no issues on high settings. The RAM and storage can also be easily upgraded. It'll run a bit hot when putting it through its paces, but that is to be expected. I was looking for a gaming laptop to use full time for awhile and to haul around on the road for training and photography. This lightweight and quick laptop has not let me down. Very happy with this purchase.

Great system (uninstall armour crate)
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had this item for close to a month now and it’s amazing. I’m not a huge laptop/pc person but I am a gamer so here’s my overall thoughts Most AAA games run great on this with most of the games I’ve played running high on its quality settings, that being said though it’s important to keep note of the temperature of your CPU and GPU as overheating is not that uncommon, all it takes is a bit of tweaking (and maybe even uninstalling armour crate) for some good consistent temps. The 16gb of ram is okay, it’s kinda what you expect. I rarely ever cap it out outside of a minecraft server with a ton of mods lol. But the available ram slot is definitely awesome and I do see myself upgrading in the future. The SSD is a pain tho. Being only around 500gb it doesn’t hold much especially with how much space new games require, but thankfully that is upgradable as well. If you’re getting this for school and like gaming on the side, this is amazing. Like I mentioned earlier uninstalling armour crate is useful for your temps, you don’t need half the stuff there and I wish I knew that because I’ve had to lower my graphics a lot just because of the temps. Anyways that being said, it’s a great system, good size, enough ports for everything you need, overall a good product.

Great 14” Notebook
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s a decent notebook that plays all the games I want while being portable. I did a fresh install of windows 11 and get rid of Armoury Crate and installed G-Helper. I also swapped the 500GB ssd for a 1TB SSD and installed a 16GB ram stick for a total of 32GB ram. Battery life is good when you disable the GPU, so class work can be worked on for hours while away from a charger. Plugged in while gaming, it does get hot, but rarely does it get into 90c with G-Helper.

||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In the 3 days Ive had this device, i havent come across any issues. No random restarts, the backlight bleed on my model is very minimum so thats a plus. The touchpad is very Reliable. Battery life is pretty on par with the 6700s. I gamed on it for about 31 hours now & no overheating issues. Watched a few show here & there. Havent done any editing as of yet. This laptop comes with a 1080p Cam, & (1) 16gb of ddr5 with an Empty Slot to add more ram. 512gb of ssd isnt eniugh sadly but everyone will upgrade the ssd i recommend a 2tb or 4tb one. Overall beautiful laptop.. oh one last thing the keyboard doesnt have that weird hue color last years model had, maybe its a minor but not as noticeable. Its a great puckup. The rtx 4060 seems to be at about the same as a 6800s or a but better. Good thermals
I would recommend this to a friend
