Customers are saying

Customers admire the ROG Zephyrus G14's performance, battery life, and screen quality, frequently praising its portability and compact size. Many appreciate the upgradable RAM and the sleek design, although some users note that the device can get warm and the fans can be loud. A few customers also mentioned concerns about the keyboard's reliability and the storage capacity. Pros -slick,nice feel ,durable, handles most games escape from tarkov , pal world , warzone , battlefield 2042 very good not much fps drops Now the bad- very loud fans will max right out not even fully loading up a game ,and i mean extremely loud , the battery plug is in the middle of the keyboard on the side so makes it weird typing if you have big hands also seems to be very loose and will break easy the back lit keys are dim you can hardly see them after about 5 mins of game play you get a weird burnt plastic smell coming from the laptop which made me look into the thermals more this thing runs stupid hot cpu sits about 75c to 80c doing nothing the gpu will shut off if just sitting and the cpu will take over handling your display but during game play the gpu will take back over and will go from 73c to 80c in about 20 to 30 mins of game play i would recommend a cooling pad If you dont mind noise and can upgrade the storage and possibly add better cooling to it this thing would be great but i am gonna return mine

Still the gaming laptop to beat

Asus has been on a roll lately with their products, and this latest version of the G14 with the Ryzen 9 and RTX 4060 is very powerful while keeping the same compact form factor. That being said, it would have been cool if Asus updated the design of the hardware. If you look at this laptop and the one from the last two years, it’s hard to tell them apart. This new version has a Matte feeling texture coating on the inside. It was a welcome change. It feels comfortable against my Palms and it doesn’t absorb your hands oils. The 4060 comes with 8gb of VRAM. It has performed very good with every game I have installed. I play Fortnite, Rocket League, Tiny Tina’s Wonderland and Destiny 2. Not the most demanding titles, but they all run great at their highest settings with this laptop. They all managed to run at 120fps while plugged in. The screen on this skew looks like an IPS monitor to my eyes, there is some IPS type blooming when looking at dark screens. I could be wrong, so don’t quote me. But it is a very beautiful screen though. It is bright and very vibrant. The colors pop and look saturated. It has 165hz refresh rate and I could not notice any ghosting or input lag. I like the aspect ratio of the screen, it takes advantage of every inch. There is hardly any bezel so when you play a game in full screen, the game pretty much fills all the screen real estate. I really like the screen. It makes it feel a little larger than 14”. If you really plan on taking a gaming laptop with you everywhere, I definitely recommend this 14” over 15.6” or larger. It is so lightweight and hardly takes up any space in my backpack. The keyboard is very responsive and tactile, I’m still not a huge fan of the RGB lighting on this keyboard. It’s hard to tell what keys you’re looking at sometimes with the backlights on. I usually turn them off or choose a blue or green color so that I can see the keys better against the white chiclet keys. There is plenty of ports on this laptop 2 of which are USB C ports which support USB 3.2. I immediately purchased an external 1 TB SSD for this laptop because frankly the 512gb of internal space just isn’t sufficient. I have 4 games installed and I only have about 127gb of free storage available now. So I would highly recommend that you either get an external SSD or upgrade it internally. I personally don’t plan on upgrading the drive internally because the games load just as fast off the external SSD I purchased for it. Battery life is decent when not gaming on the battery. Performance is surprisingly good while on battery. I was able to play rocket league and Destiny 2 at 120fps for about 3 hours before I had to plug it in to charge. I prefer to keep the laptop plugged in when gaming because you’ll get much better performance from the processor and GPU when plugged in, but the battery should get you through a full day if you just do some light web browsing or work / media consumption on it. Would I recommend this laptop? I’m going to go ahead and say yes.. definitely. The Ryzen 9 chip is very fast while and sips battery power and the Nvidia 4060 will probably be able to run most games coming in the next 5 years. I just really wish Asus would have included at least a 1TB internal drive. Game files are massive now, and 512gb just isn’t enough. If you plan on playing call of Duty on this, you’ll easily fill almost 1/3 of its capacity. I still have to give it a 5 star rating though, this little laptop is very impressive for its size and weight and it is probably the best gaming laptop money can buy in this form factor.

Overall a good laptop for the cost; even better if you have the time to install g-helper and fine tune it to your uses. Pro: 0. When on sale, the price/performance of this laptop is very good; if you need more than 16gb of memory like I do, it beats every other similar laptop currently available in 2024, including the 2024 version of this 1. Can charge via USB-C (there is a downside to this too, see cons) 2. Reasonably light (the 2024 version is lighter but has soldered ram), if you don't carry its own charger 3. 1 slot upgradeable ram (+ 16gb built in); you can get 32gb of ram reasonably cheaply; you can even get a 48gb stick to bring this to 64gb if you don't need quad channel above 32gb (DDR5 is by default dual channel, so the first 16gb you put in the slot will give you quad channel, and dual channel thereafter) 4. Trackpad/screen/keyboard are all pretty good for the price point 5. GPU can be turned off completely and battery life using only the CPU+iGPU is decent Cons: 0. USB C charging go through battery even if it provides enough power for laptop. This means that 1) it degrades your battery when you do this and 2) you only get on-battery performance while plugged into USB C 1. The ports are placed towards the mid/front of the laptop, which means anything you plug in on the right side (or whichever side you use your mouse on) can interfere with your mouse usage. This is particularly annoying because all type A ports are on the right side. It's a solvable issue with a USB C hub on the left side. 2. Laptop gets pretty warm to the touch, even though I've tuned it to use much lower power (~25W CPU, ~50W GPU under heavy load). There's also vents on the left/right side of the laptop that can blow hot air onto your hand. 3. The top of the touchpad takes far too much pressure to physically click; this is especially strange if you're used to the macbook touchpad. Tapping it works fine though. And I wish the keycaps are slightly bigger like the 2024 version, but it's serviceable. The touchpad can sometimes be triggered while playing games, but it does offer an easy way to turn it off so that's a plus. 4. Charger is heavy; but you can use USB C in a pinch, assuming you're okay with the downsides aforementioned.

If you’re looking for a MacBook alternative that punches above its price-point, this is it. Asus builds a decent product, not top-tier but definitely not budget either. Build quality is good but the majority plastic construction feels a little less than premium. The display is bright and colorful, the refresh rate is a nice bonus and doesn’t heat up. I don’t like the keyboard, it feels spongy and the rounded edges of the keys makes it feel clumsy. Let’s talk about the processor….wow! It’s powerful (on performance mode) and has decent battery life (in eco mode). It does make a lot of noise when running it at full power and still builds heat despite the ridiculously loud fans. I plugged it into my 65” 4k HDR tv, closed the lid, and used a game controller to get away from the noise. Gaming on the big screen tv playing Starfield maxed out on graphics settings yielded a smooth experience with almost no FPS drops. I upgraded the RAM to 32gb and put the fastest M.2 SSD I could find into it and now, no frame rate drops. Overall, I’m extremely happy with this laptop. It’s a mid-tier gaming setup with $300 worth of upgrades but also a docile easy to transport everyday laptop. I’ve seen up to 9 hours of battery life offline, 5 streaming videos. It’s light and small enough to go in my bag almost everyday. I see it lasting me a couple of years and at this price point, that’s not too bad.

In the 3 days Ive had this device, i havent come across any issues. No random restarts, the backlight bleed on my model is very minimum so thats a plus. The touchpad is very Reliable. Battery life is pretty on par with the 6700s. I gamed on it for about 31 hours now & no overheating issues. Watched a few show here & there. Havent done any editing as of yet. This laptop comes with a 1080p Cam, & (1) 16gb of ddr5 with an Empty Slot to add more ram. 512gb of ssd isnt eniugh sadly but everyone will upgrade the ssd i recommend a 2tb or 4tb one. Overall beautiful laptop.. oh one last thing the keyboard doesnt have that weird hue color last years model had, maybe its a minor but not as noticeable. Its a great puckup. The rtx 4060 seems to be at about the same as a 6800s or a but better. Good thermals

After spending some time with the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14, I have to say it’s a beast in a small package. The 14-inch screen may not be huge, but it packs a punch with its QHD resolution and 165Hz refresh rate. The visuals are crisp and smooth, making it a great choice for both gaming and content creation. However, if you’re used to larger displays, you might find this one a bit tight for multitasking or immersive gaming. In terms of performance, the combination of the AMD Ryzen 9 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 delivers excellent power for gaming and heavy workloads. It handles modern games with ease, and the addition of DLSS 3 and ray tracing support adds extra polish to the gaming experience. That said, the 512GB SSD feels a bit limited, especially if you plan to install multiple large games. Upgrading the storage is possible, but it’s not something everyone is comfortable doing right out of the box. One thing that really stands out is the build quality. The laptop feels solid and premium, with a brushed aluminum finish that looks sleek in Moonlight White. Despite its compact size, it’s packed with ports, including USB-A, USB-C, and HDMI, so you’re well-covered for peripherals. Battery life is decent for a gaming laptop, but as expected, it drains quickly under heavy gaming loads, so you’ll want to keep it plugged in during intense sessions. The RGB backlit keyboard is a nice touch, offering customization to match your setup, though the typing experience could be better—some users might find the key travel a bit shallow. Overall, the Zephyrus G14 offers great value in terms of performance and portability, especially if you’re looking for a gaming laptop that’s easy to carry around. Just be prepared to compromise a bit on storage and screen size

Amazing screen, great aesthetics, horrible stability. I really dig the design of this, compact, sleek, looks good. Had it for a week and returned it. Constantly crashing (at least once an hour) playing helldivers 2. Drivers were up-to-date, 3 clean windows installs, ghelper app (armory crate would causes crash just browsing). Thing runs hot, I was at one point, running the game at it's lowest setting and keeping the temps at bay but it still crashed. Crashed in other games too so I gave up. Not worth the headache. This sat on a laptop cooling pad too. My 6 yr old dell that it was supposed to replace doesn't crash. I've built most of my desktops with ASUS products and that's not likely to change, but their laptops need better QC. Doing factory resets was pretty easy to do. Cloud installs is a blessing. keyboard was okie, the trackpad is huge and kinda weird to find the right click. if you get a stable build, totally worth it when it's on sale. But counting on a build lottery is iffy for a 1.5k laptop (msrp)

Bought this for gaming and event in DC. While the computer runs well enough to support gaming, it starts to over heat in 30-45 min and youll lose access to you keyboard. Which is a horrible event if your in midst of an event showcasing your efforts over the past 4-5 months. So do yourself a favor and buy a cooling pad for this as well. Battery isnt bad unless youre gaming so keep it plugged in.

The laptop perfomance wise is great just have to disable some stock software to improve thermals and battery balance. Had to return the first one as there was some cosmetic scratches on the keyboard thats visible when backlight is on. The 2nd one has some screen bleeding on the botton right so thats also one thing to look for. Quality wise is a hit and miss, other than that everything works perfectly fine

It's super fast and plays games really well but that's to be expected. What was unexpected was the track pad out of the box would randomly click even on a level surface and without touching it (not like the surface would matter because this is premium and doesn't flex in the slightest). I had to update the BIOs manually to get the thing to work right. I had ran copious amounts of windows updates since who knows how long it's been boxed up and it even looked like it downloaded a new BIOs but it never installed it thats probably on Windows for that failure but still slightly annoying given the price tag. Another thing that was not expected was that after gaming for <1.5 hours I touched the keyboard (Yes I use controller on PC don't come at me) and it was extremely hot not quiet instant burn hot but definitely hot enough the burn you with continued use all because the default behavior is to when plugged in switch to turbo mode. Which after some testing doesn't do much more that increase the amount of heat it puts out. So I've had to go through everything and tune it to be acceptably cool when plugged in which is not cool (pun intended) because once again given the price tag I wanted an out of the box premium and quality experience especially since this is for my not so tech savvy wife who immediately jumped to lets return it. TDLR; Don't expect greatness out of the box expect to have to tune it to work well

This laptop has been a workhorse for me. I don’t do much gaming, but at the price point on sale, you couldn’t find much better than this for general/heavy computing tasks. I needed something more robust for some virtualization and rendering projects and the Ryzen 9/4060 combo has been great. The laptop itself is gorgeous and the keyboard and trackpad are fantastic. The speakers are solid, hinges feel sturdy, screen is beautiful, and the form factor is great for every day/on the go use. The only complaints I have are that the RGB lighting is uneven and not very bright (not really an issue as I don’t use it much) and the laptop must regularly be grounded. The touchpad is great but gets VERY finicky if static electricity builds up (makes car ride and couch usage a bit of a pain at times). All in all, if you can get it on sale, this is a phenomenal machine for the money and I am very happy with my purchase.

I really like the 14" size. Good looking machine. I had an incredibly annoying issue where the space bar intermittently registered missed or extra presses. To fix this, I carefully removed the space bar keycap and stuck several layers of tape directly underneath the center of the keycap to make it easier for the key to actuate the rubber dome. This completely fixed my space bar issues.

The laptop has issues where the keyboard stops working when you wake it up after it’s been asleep. You need to turn it back off, sometimes 2-3 times before it works again. When the graphics card is putting in work sometimes the mousepad starts lagging or stops working completely. And this is just from rendering 30 second videos, not sure what would happen with a labor intensive game.
