WiFi concerns

I bought a 2024 model for my daughter as a graduation present and was happy with the purchase. Unfortunately the mediatek wifi 7 card created enough problems for me (throttling download and upload speeds to 10 percent of home wifi while all other devices maintained consist speeds) that it made gaming and web browsing unbearable. Ultimately, I decided to return this laptop and purchased the Asus Strix g16 model for a comparable price (+$100). A $2500 laptop should not have difficulty with standard web browsing.

We certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused if you had issues with the WIFI controller. ASUS is an ISO certified company, as a result, all products go into a strict quality manufacturing standard. All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections that ensure each one is trouble-free. Certainly, the WIFI works flawlessly. The WIFI not working properly even after updating Windows, drivers and BIOS is a random problem. ASUS provides warranty coverage for the product. We recommend you send the product in for service to determine if this is a hardware issue so this may be resolved immediately. An RMA number is required to send it in for service. Surprisingly fast.

I have a 4090 in my desktop and this laptop with frame genx4 gets higher fps in some games than my desktop somehow. Call of Duty runs at over 200fps. If you're on the fence just get it. The Ryzen chip seems to handle tasks better than the Intel core 9 Ultra that comes in the 16 inch.

Horrible customer experience from ASUS & BestBuy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Horrible customer service from BestBuy & ASUS. Read the fine print carefully. ASUS has a free 1 year Accidental Protection Program, but the fine print states that products purchased from Best Buy are not covered. They did not point this out at time of purchase, neither did they offer any other ADP program at time of purchase. Found out this when the laptop stopped working within 2 weeks and had to take it into Geek Squad for warranty service. They claimed liquid damage and estimated cost of repair , to be covered entirely by the customer was over $4000, almost 2X the cost of the laptop, outside standard warranty. I've had a good experience with Best Buy purchases in the past but beware of discounts that are only marginally better than other authorized retailers as you may get a better overall service experience from other places in case you should need it. The ASUS ROG Zephyrus laptop is pretty good overall, however seems quite fragile based on this experience. When it worked, AI models ran very well on the Nvidia RTX 5070Ti GPU, and the 32GB RAM paired well. ASUS and Best Buy need to step up their customer service.

Terriblly disappointed - sub-par quality

I purchased the Asus ROG G14 less than a year ago (about nine months), and out of nowhere the system began crashing repeatedly with the same error. I sent it in for warranty repair, and they replaced the motherboard. The exact same error returned immediately. I sent it back a second time, and again the issue persisted. After a third repair attempt, they claimed to have replaced the SSD, yet the laptop continued to fail in the same way. The device shuts down on its own with an “unknown error,” refuses to enter recovery mode, and even the Windows factory‑reset option doesn’t work. After saving over $2,000 for what was supposed to be a high‑end machine, I’m extremely disappointed in both the reliability and the repair process.

We certainly understand your disappointment with the warranty repair or service quality and the inconvenience this may have caused if the laptop was sent to warranty service three times with the same ongoing problem. ASUS is an ISO certified company, and as a result, all products go into a strict quality manufacturing standard. All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections during the warranty service process that ensure each one is trouble-free, this is a random problem. Since the internal recovery fails, use another PC to create a Windows USB bootable drive. Insert it into your laptop, boot from the USB (using Esc to select boot device), and perform a clean install to bypass the broken internal recovery system. If you were not able to create one, you can use the Media Creation tool to create one. The tool and the ISO image for WINDOWS is available and can be downloaded at the Microsoft website:  https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11. You can use a memory card or an external USB device to create the recovery image.

Disappointing

Full disclosure, I’m coming from an M2 MacBook Air, and I had purchased this because I need it to run AutoCAD (with some x86 Windows-only plugins) for work. It’s not been enjoyable. The battery life is terrible even with the dedicated GPU turned off, there are lots of little bugs that are annoying, and the build quality is not what I would expect for a $2,000+ laptop. (Every time I click the trackpad it creaks, and the button of the laptop is not flush with the rest of the body). I’ve been spoiled with my MacBook, and I expected better. The display is good, but the upgrade to OLED is more minor than I would have expected.

Solid Gaming Laptop

The OLED screen is impressive, the build quality is fantastic, and the 5070TI with the Ryzen AI runs COD Warzone and Battlefield 2042 with ease. I currently use it with a Thunderbolt 4 dock as a desktop replacement.

Absolutely stunning OLED display and top performan

It’s compact but incredibly powerful. Ryzen AI 9 and RTX 5070 Ti handle everything I throw at it. Battery life is decent for the power it packs. One of the best laptops I’ve ever used.

I went for the larger brother the G16. I got it as an open box. It was graded as excellent condition, however some dumb dumb in a store priced it as damaged. So i got the G16 with a 5080 retailing for $3399 for $1699.

Best Buy Customer Support Scammed Me

I ordered an open box version of this laptop in excellent condition last month. It was shipped to me via Fedex. I was late to work for 3 days straight trying to get the package but Fedex never rang my doorbell, and I wasn't allowed to set the delivery to go to a nearby Fedex location. After 3 days of Fedex "trying" to deliver, I was told the package was being sent back to Best Buy. Incredibly frustrated, I contacted BB to see if I can get the item sent back to me again. They say no problem, we'll place an order for a replacement for you. Two hours after I get off the phone with BB, my order is cancelled. I reach out again and am told because it was open box they don't have the item available anymore. I look on the website - they have an open box item in excellent condition listed for $300 more than I originally paid. So I call again. I'm told by the first customer service person that they can discount the item for me to the price that I originally paid (because that would be the right thing to do right) then transferred to a second person to execute the sale who says that there is no way for me to purchase this item for the amount I originally paid. I'm frustrated because this means that one of the two BB reps has lied to me and I've wasted hours on this. The next day my fiancé reaches out to them and is told they can't discount the price but they can issue a refund within 24h after I make the purchase. That works, we make the purchase, no refund comes in. 48h later my fiancé calls again and is told that this isn't a thing Best Buy does and they aren't going to issue a partial refund even though the first rep we spoke to assured us they would. So now we've just been tricked into spending WAY more than we wanted to on a computer because BB said they were going to refund us and then walked it back. This is an actual scam. I can't begin to convey how much time and money we wasted on this situation and how mad I am that Best Buy stole money and at minimum 5 hours of my life on the phone with customer support from me like that. Honestly minor compared to anything else but they also told my fiancé they would send the new laptop with USPS due to our Fedex issue - they did not, they sent it with Fedex agian. DO NOT BUY FROM BEST BUY good lord what a horrible experience this has been.

The perfect mix of power and elegance
