Customers praise the ROG Zephyrus G14's performance, stunning OLED display, and excellent battery life. Many appreciate its premium build quality, impressive speakers, and lightweight, portable design. However, some users note that the laptop can get warm under heavy use and that the RAM is not upgradeable. Concerns were also raised regarding the fan noise and the GPU's limitations in fully utilizing the high-resolution display.

Powerhouse in a small and beautiful package

The Asus Zephyrus G14 (2024) is a powerhouse in a small and beautiful package. The AMD Ryzen 8945HS is a powerful CPU to execute any program you throw at it, and also has an on-board GPU for those less intensive games and programs that don't require the dedicated RTX 4060. Speaking of the RTX 4060, it's extremely capable of playing all the triple-A games. One thing to note is the gorgeous OLED screen has a native resolution of 2880x1800, which even the desktop version of the RTX 4060 can't play most games at High/Ultra settings smoothly at that resolution. This became apparent while trying to get a steady 60 FPS out of The Crew Motorfest at the highest settings. Even after lowering down to medium settings I was still getting hiccups. The solution I settled on was lowering the resolution to 1920x1200. This allowed me to run the game at Ultra settings and have zero dips below 60 FPS, and the game still looked amazing on the 120Hz refresh rate OLED screen. The screen itself is amazing. Most gaming monitors don't look this good. Enabling HDR and running the Windows HDR Calibration software really improves the experience even more. And since it's OLED, there's no backlight, blacks are jet black. It also comes with 16GB of RAM, which seems to be an industry standard when it comes to gaming PC's. I removed the back of the laptop to see what exactly you have easy access too, and it appears you only have access to the SSD, and the WiFi module. I'm assuming the RAM is on the other side of the motherboard, and looks like a job if you wanted to upgrade or have to swap out a bad module. The size of this laptop compared to the performance boggles my mind. I've owned several gaming and regular laptops over the years, and this smallest, most powerful laptop I've personally used. I could only imagine what the RTX 4070 version would be like. I would also like to note that it doesn't come with a bunch of pre-installed bloatware. It does come with Asus's Armoury Crate software, which is required to control the lighting on the keyboard, wallpaper, and the line that runs across the back of the screen. It also comes with trials of Office and a few other Microsoft programs, which can easily be deleted if you don't need them. You do get a 1TB SSD, and it's very fast, so running out of room shouldn't be a thing out of the box. Overall I really enjoy this laptop, and highly recommend it.
Likes:
1.) Performance and style
2.) Amazing OLED screen
3.) Extremely portable
Dislikes:
1.) Native resolution can hinder some games with this GPU at high/Ultra settings

A Hot Buy when on a sale

Buyer's experience: I returned a recently purchased Asus Vivobook S 14 and traded in my Asus ROG Ally to purchase this laptop on sale for $1,199.99. I have owned the 2023 version, and loved it, but had a difficult time managing its heat and fan noise so I gave it to my niece.
Heat review: The laptop gets hot, and you should avoid putting this laptop on your lap (investing into a cooling pad for sessions in bed). The customizable keys above the function keys will be especially warm to touch.
Performance review: My experience with this laptop has been much better than my previous ROG Zephyrus. I have encountered fewer moment of throttling due to heat despite this model being thinner. I am getting 60FPS on game titles such Hellblade 2, Clair Obscur Expedition 33, and Avowed. This also achieve 120FPS on lighter games such Marvel Rivals, R.E.P.O and Rocket League.
Battery/Commuter review: For a gaming laptop, the size is perfect for on the go. I can compare this to a MacBook Pro or Razer Blade. The battery is not as good as a M-series Macbook but I can get 6-8 hours on Optimized mode using Microsoft apps with some browsing. To be clear, this has good battery for a gaming laptop. A non-gaming laptop should get you over 10 hours of minimal usage now.
The Screen: The screen is beautiful - I could care less about my previous ROG Zephyrus and I willing to turn down the resolution whenever needed I thought over-heating would already handicap my experience, but I was wrong. Games, pictures, all videos look beautiful. If I was using this just for gaming, I would have preferred a matte display, but this screen helps complete the well-rounded design.
Cons & Issues: The heat is an aforementioned issue but easy to manage with settings or a cooling pad. The fan can get loud enough to be picked up by the built-in microphone when game (use a headset). The "Slash Lighting" on the back has been pretty finnicky for me.
Recommendation: I have it set to only use the GPU when plugged to minimize heat, fan noise, and to extend battery. There is also the option to use G-Helper which will be recommended anywhere when looking for ways to improve your ROG experience. Also, perform all the updates needed before sitting into some games.

G14 best laptop I ever had

Probably one of the best laptops I've ever owned. Yes it does get hot but that is to be expected when you're playing games for hours and being such a thin laptop. It's super lightweight extremely premium feel. I had to keep this one because of how amazing the OLED was. Never had a hiccup playing video games, and everything runs extremely smooth. Obviously good for productivity. I'm not bothered by the fans either, they are as loud as needed to be expected. If I had the funds I would even go for the RTX 4070. Amazing laptop.

I've been using the G14 gaming laptop for a few weeks now, and I can confidently say it's one of the best investments I've made for both gaming and productivity. Right out of the box, the build quality feels premium — sleek, lightweight, and solid. It's rare to find this much power packed into such a portable chassis.
Performance-wise, it's a beast. Equipped with a top-tier AMD Ryzen processor and an NVIDIA RTX GPU, the G14 handles everything I throw at it — from AAA titles on ultra settings to demanding creative work like video editing and 3D rendering. The thermals are surprisingly well-managed for a laptop this size, and the fans are quieter than expected under load.
The display is gorgeous, with sharp resolution, vibrant colors, and a high refresh rate that makes gameplay incredibly smooth. Whether I'm gaming, watching movies, or just browsing, the visuals are top-notch.
Battery life is another standout — I get several hours of use without needing to plug in, which is rare for a high-performance gaming laptop. It’s perfect for travel or working remotely.
The keyboard and touchpad are comfortable and responsive, and the overall design is clean and modern without being too flashy.
In short, the G14 nails the balance between portability, performance, and style. Whether you're a gamer, a creator, or a power user on the go, this laptop delivers. Highly recommended!

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 2024 is an all around awesome laptop. In a lot of ways, its like having the best of both worlds. An excellent all around day to day laptop for work and home and a mid to somewhat high end gaming laptop. Its size and build are great. Small and light allowing you to take it anywhere. Excellent range of ports including dual USB-C and HDMI 2.1. The 1TB SSD is pretty standard these days but still very fast and sizeable. The 16GB of DDR5 RAM is about a low as you would want to go with a new laptop these days. For non-gaming use it is more than enough. But for gaming I would normally say you would want more these days, but the RTX 4060 combined with the AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS all help this laptop keep up with the most demanding games. You may not be able to max out settings on every game, but you won't be far from it. Runs "The Last Of Us 1 Remastered" great! Asides from the size and weight, the real beauty of this laptop is the 14" OLED 3K 120Hz screen. This is just a thing of beauty. There are gaming machines out there with faster refresh rates, but considering this is a OLED 3K this is pretty nice. Games of course look amazing with the deep contrasts. But the screen also makes this a killer traveling entertainment center. I generally don't expect much for good sound on a laptop but the sound is quiet good. If you are just looking for a top end gaming machine, you might want a bit more. But if you want an excellent all around laptop that can do everything well then this is worth checking out.

I’ve been using the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 for a bit now, and I’m really impressed. The 3K OLED screen looks incredible, and the 120Hz refresh rate makes everything feel super smooth. Performance has been solid— the Ryzen 9 and RTX 4060 handle games and daily tasks without any issues.
The laptop is lightweight and easy to carry, and the white design looks clean and premium. Fans do get a little loud when gaming, but nothing unexpected for a laptop this powerful. Overall, it’s a great mix of portability and performance, and I’m very happy with it.

Satisfied owner of the G14. Tackles any task o throw at it. Have owned it for ~2 months. Majority of the time used has been for gaming. Would highly recommend, I could be a little biased because the G14 is a major upgrade from my Steam Deck.
Battery life is good, but i personally use it plugged in a majority of the time. Took a 4 hr road trip and let the kids watch a few movies in the back with no issues or battery dieing on the trip.
Also messed around to see how the G14 would mine cryptocurrency Monero. Left it on for over 16 hrs and it was warm, but not to hot to handle. Would not recommend buying on for mining purposes but wanted to see if the system would get too hot and shut down.
The screen is amazing but I am most impressed with the sound the G14 has. While playing a game like Dark and Darker sound makes a big difference as you can hear footsteps if someone is trying to sneak up behind you.
Design is slick, exterior lights can be set to different themes. Thin and lightweight sets on my desk nicely. See photos, Xbox controller for scale.
Main complaint, wish I would have waited a few months as I see the price has recently dropped $500 lower.

I've gone through countless laptops trying to find the perfect balance of portability and every day usage combined with some casual gaming. I am very particular what I want in a laptop and how I want it to behave, so this is super subjective, but this is definitely the laptop that checks all the boxes for me.
It's build quality is excellent, the keyboard feels amazing, battery life is great for a small gaming machine like this (The ability to automatically switch to 60hz when on battery really helps). The screen is just drop dead gorgeous to look at and although the CPU is just rebranded version of last years model, the whole laptop feels much snappier and responsive than last years model. I really like the app GHelper instead of Armoury Crate, as it gives you some more options that are missing from Asus's official app, such as FN Lock. The port selections is also great and has everything I would ever need,
I realize they had to lower the TDP for this machine compared to last year’s model, in order to make the slimmer profile work. I had the 2023 model with the 4060 and 32GB Ram and ran it against this one. Honestly, the new one ran significantly cooler, quieter and the difference in performance was negligible (maybe 5-10fps lower than the 2023 model)
Overall, I applaud ASUS for this, as to me they have reached peek gaming laptop design at an affordable price. Will recommend this laptop to anybody who is in the market for a small gaming machine.

Unboxing and Setup
I was thrilled to unbox this new ASUS G14 Zephyrus Gaming Laptop. The tightly packed shipping box provided good protection. It revealed a mysterious-looking flat-black box with a stylish design on the top. After removing the clear protective covering, I admired the thin CNC-machined aluminum alloy casing, the platinum white matte finish, the Slash Lighting strip across the lid, and The Republic of Gamers logo. The base is heavily vented and has front and rear rubber supports.
Lifting the lid feels nice and solid. The keyboard keys are large and comfortable to press. The speaker panels on the left and right sides match the depth of the keyboard, and the touchpad is large and comfortably centered. The black brick power supply has quality power cables, connectors, and Velcro strips for repacking.
The Windows 11 Home setup and configuration went smoothly and only took 35 minutes to run.
Gaming
Since the primary use for this laptop is for gaming, I launched the Armoury Crate application and configured the following:
• Set the performance for Turbo mode and Ultimate GPU.
• Selected the lid Slash Lighting pattern to respond to sounds.
• I selected my desired keyboard colors and animation.
My primary games of interest are Microsoft's Flight Simulator 2020 and Space Engineers via the Steam platform. Both of these are graphics intensive. Steam, FS, and SE were fully installed and took 17 hours via my home Wi-Fi. I also installed 3DMark benchmarks and the Valley Benchmark application.
Microsoft's Flight Simulator 2020 has amazing graphics. At full resolution of 2880x1800, with High graphics settings and the NVIDIA DLSS AI Frame Generation enabled, there was no stuttering, landscape tearing, or distortion. I was able to maintain a consistent and impressive 85-97 frames per second. The only downside was the increased fan noise, but with headphones, it is not a problem.
For Space Engineers, I set the graphics for the maximum resolution and the highest-quality textures. The graphics are smooth and detailed during gameplay without any issues. The background music and sound effects quality make me feel like I'm in a theater. The performance maintained a blazing 95 to 120 FPS with all these settings at the maximum levels. Again, the only downside with this level of graphics quality is the increased fan noise.
In Summary
I am thrilled with the performance of the ASUS G14 Zephyrus Gaming Laptop. It performed much better than I expected. The battery life with normal usage is a little over 8 hours and about half that when gaming. I recommend a laptop stand to improve the airflow underneath. The price, build quality, room-filling sound, and performance make this laptop a no-brainer. I highly recommend it.

I’ve been using this laptop for both work and heavy PC gaming, and overall it’s been fantastic. The performance is outstanding. Even with demanding games and multitasking, it never slows down or lags. The OLED 3K display is beautiful, making both work and gameplay look sharp and vibrant, and the 120Hz refresh rate keeps everything smooth.
The only drawback is that it runs hot during heavy use. A cooling pad or fan station is definitely recommended if you plan to push it hard. Because of that I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5, but if heat management isn’t a dealbreaker this laptop is a powerhouse that balances portability and performance really well.

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 with the 3K OLED 120Hz display has completely blown me away. The screen is stunning — rich colors, deep blacks, and ultra-smooth visuals. Whether I’m gaming, editing videos, or just streaming, everything looks amazing on this display.
Performance is top-tier. It runs modern games flawlessly and handles creative work without breaking a sweat. The Ryzen CPU and dedicated GPU combo is fast, efficient, and surprisingly quiet. Even under load, the cooling system keeps everything running smoothly.
What made this an even better deal? I snagged it on sale for over $500 off — which made it feel like an absolute steal for what you’re getting. At full price it’s worth it, but with that discount, it’s honestly one of the best purchases I’ve made in a long time.
The build quality is excellent, it’s light and portable, and battery life is solid for a laptop this powerful. The speakers are loud and clear, and the keyboard is super comfortable to type on.
Overall, the G14 OLED is a perfect mix of power, portability, and premium features — and if you catch it on sale, don’t even think twice. Just go for it.

Serious Punch in a Small Package

--- SETUP ---
This laptop was quick and easy to set up. In the box, you get the laptop and the charger. Once you turn on the laptop, connect it to your WiFi and let it run through its updates. If this is replacing one of your previous Windows PCs, you can transfer settings from that PC to this new one. Additionally, you have the option to set it up as a new PC. This being a gaming laptop, it took me about 1 hour for all the updates, plus another hour to download the games I wanted to play.
--- FEATURES ---
AMD Ryzen 9 8000 series processor (for multitasking and editing software), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 (Ray Tracing Capable), 16 gigabytes of RAM (for demanding games), 3 lbs, Windows 11, 3K resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, 8 cores, DLSS 3.5 support, facial recognition login, and 1 TB SSD.
--- EXPECTATIONS and PERFORMANCE ---
I take my gaming seriously and I am platform agnostic, which means I game wherever there is a fun game to be had. That being said, this gaming laptop packs some serious punch in a small package.
I downloaded single-player games that were released within the past 2 years to try this laptop first. The games I tried first were Starfield, Hogwarts, Resident Evil 4 Remake, A Plague: Tale Requiem, Diablo IV, and Cyberpunk DLC. These games are from either Steam or Xbox GamePass downloads and all are resource intensive at higher settings.
The first thing I noticed is that the screen isn’t HDR capable. To me, that is an acceptable trade-off for gaming on the go with Ray Tracing. All the games that I tested with this laptop worked great with few tweeks. For the most part, most games would auto-detect the best settings for my laptop. In Hogwarts, I just changed a few DLSS options so that it ran at a smooth 120 frames.
Perhaps the game that I became most engrossed in was Resident Evil 4. In the options menu, RE4 remake will show you your PC system specs. From there, I turned and played with the settings until I got what I wanted. I was able to play RE4 Remake with cutscenes running at the highest resolution, my gaming at 3K, with ray tracing, and a variable 120Hz. Another game that was great to play was Starfield. On PC, Starfield now supports NVIDIA’s DLSS technology. This makes it so that you can have settings that would normally be resource intensive not be as heavy through the use of AI. Starfield looks like a completely different game when playing at 120FPS. To top it off, the laptop has 6 speakers that sound very good for a gaming laptop if you don’t have gaming headphones with you.
Any gaming setup requires a lighted keyboard. The ASUS ROG Zephyrus comes with a backlit keyboard that changes colors and a backlit panel that makes your gaming sessions look stylish. The volume control buttons being separate from the rest of the keyboard is very handy when you need to do a quick volume adjustment. Speaking of volume, the fans to cool the laptop are noticeable during quiet parts of gaming, but you otherwise won’t notice them.
--- APPROVAL ---
With the portability due to size, a nice 3K screen, and a powerful NVIDIA graphics card that supports 3K Ray Tracing, this gaming laptop is a beast to take with you on the go. I recommend this to anyone that is a traveling gamer, or likes to put in some game time during work hours.

If you're looking for a laptop that has top notch performance, an awesome display and sound that sets it apart from all others, look no further. When unboxing this laptop it became quite clear that ASUS intended this to be a premium laptop with all of the latest tech while keeping it simple and right to the point. Inside you'll find the laptop, and a power brick with charging cord and a few cards to get started.
Setup out of the box was pretty quick and easy. If you have a Microsoft Account, you just sign in and if you want to restore from another PC's backup you'll have everything ready to go on your new one which is what I did. Once setup was complete, there were a number of updates which did take a little bit of time but not bad overall. Then on to installing Steam, Epic Game store and Windows Xbox app game stores.
The first thing you'll notice is the display, the color is vivid and blacks are deep and whites are super bright. This display is every bit as good looking as my S23 Ultra's display which if you haven't experienced you'll definitely notice. I really like Asus and the Armoury Crate software as it allows you to fine tune not only the cool slash lights on the rear of the display but also the RGB, system performance/optimization and display settings. Here, you can change the vivid profile to an sRGB profile that is tuned and accurate. Finally, photos that look on the screen just like you took them! That said, I think it's worth mentioning the RGB colors on the keyboard when synced with the display in Armoury Crate with the Asus wallpaper, is a wow, for sure!
As for other things that I love, the keys are solid and are great to type on and the trackpad is large and easy to use. I do wish the direction keys were larger but that's my only nit pick about the keyboard that I have. The aluminum body is solid, light and it feels super premium. I can tell that Asus definitely took time to make sure this part of the design was right and it shows.
The slash lighting is a tiny disappointment as there's not a ton of customization that I found right off the go, hopefully this is something Asus addresses at some point in the future. The same for the keyboard, I couldn't tell if you can customize colors on individual keys (as you can't with the presets). They still look amazing and there's more customization with the keyboard than there is the slash lighting.
Now, for the reasons that I'd really recommend this laptop outside of the OLED display. The first is the sound, and I must say WOW. I've never heard sound from a laptop sound as good as it does from this. The woofers definitely thump and the highs are balanced just right and it's loud. Finally a laptop that has sound that outperforms every tablet out there and every other laptop I've heard sound from in recent years. That's not to say there aren't others that are good but this laptop delivers a solid A+ in this area.
The next is performance, which is why you're looking at it. First thing, I wouldn't let the RTX 4060 and 16GB hold you back. I was able to throw every modern title I own at it along with some new ones from the Xbox store and every game can be ran at max settings with very smooth performance. Granted, if you're after higher FPS, then the higher end cards will deliver, but most games I threw at it ranged from 65 FPS on the low end to over 120 FPS on other titles, overall very solid in terms of performance. If you just want it to game and perform, this one delivers that's for sure.
My only complaint is the ram is NOT upgradeable and there's not a 2nd NVME M.2 slot to add more storage, though16gb RAM is sufficient for most tasks and games today and likely for a while to come. For the ram, it doesn't affect performance in any way that I can tell for what I do so I'm not sure it's a negative but it would have been nice to see slots to add ram. For the M.2, however, I would say that's a bigger complaint for sure, as most game titles are over 50GB with many now pushing upwards of 100GB so 1TB is no where near enough if you have more than a couple games installed. You do have a USB4 type C slot which is great and more than fast enough to add an external NVME storage drive that's capable of holding all your games but I don't like dragging drives around and it's easier to just have what I need in the laptop so that is one upgrade I'd recommend making right away and then use your old drive in an external NVME M.2 to USB Type C adapter which you'll need to copy to the new drive should you upgrade.
Overall, despite that one complaint, I think this laptop is solid and I'd absolutely recommend it. Upgrading the SSD isn't a big deal and larger 4TB drives are now much less expensive than they used to be so it would be a good upgrade to do right off the bat. Outside of that, it performs very well and at least for me does not disappoint.

I bought this laptop for my wife (who is a big Apple fan) and she absolutely loves it. Here are the pros she loves the most:
-Beautiful OLED screen. Everything looks amazing on it.
-Plenty of CPU, memory, and graphics power to run most software smoothly.
-Nice, compact size for mobile use.
-Came mostly clean with not a lot of bloatware.
The only con is it runs hot. I wont take away any stars for that because that's been my experience with every laptop and desktop I've ever owned when gaming. My big gaming desktop has 9 fans and it heats up my whole room when I play intense games, so how can we expect laptops to run cool with games?
So anyways its a fantastic laptop and I hope to get the same one for myself when they go on sale again.
You'll love it!

I've used a great many gaming laptops over the years and the one thing that's always stood out is how "gamer" they look. I'm generally one that prefers a toned down, but pleasing aesthetic. Like a certain PC case that was released in the last year that has actual wooden slats on the front. Nothing garish or flashy, just form over function.
The Zephyrus bucks that trend with this G14. There is still a feeling of "gamerishness" to it, but it does so minmally.
The only real standout that screams this would be the LED bar on the top of the Lid. It's kind of a love it or hate thing. I don't mind it, but it can definitely be distracting and you have the lid closed. When I see it flash I have to remind myself it's normal. You can set patterns to it, but it's limited in what it can do. It's only white LED's so there's no customizing it. I would have liked to change this, or at the very least, sync it with keyboard backlighting.
The biggest thing here is obviously the screen. With it being an OLED, it looks absolutely fantastic. According to Windows HDR Calibration, it looks to clock in around 630 Nits which honestly is pretty bright, given that OLED's aren't well known for their luminence. This display is quite incredible. It's a real feast for the eyes, especially when you're playing something like CyberPunk and you've got HDR and RayTracing on and it's nighttime out. The lighting and colors just look incredible.
Performance wise, for the small package, this sure packs a wallop. I do find it interesting that we've got a 3k screen, 2880x1800 though it does run at a great 120hz. Personally, at 14" I don't find it feasible to have a display over 1080p or at the most 1440p as you can't tell the difference without really close scrutiny. This resolution doesn't do you any favors in very modern titles like the aforementioned CyberPunk. This game is designed to bring everything to it's knees.
Playing at it's native resolution with the Ultra Preset is unwise. You most certainly need DLSS here. My advice would be to bump the resolution down to 1920x1200 or 1920x1080. Doing so I was able to run the game on the RT Ultra preset and it was staying above 70 FPS which is great for this game. At Native I was only seeing around 20-30 FPS without RT. Enabling DLSS of course helps greatly.
The cooling can get pretty loud. It's the biggest issue when going from a larger system to something so much more compact. When you're not gaming, it's super quiet. When you're gaming though, in the Performance mode it's tolerable, the Turbo setting however, you're sacrificing noise for performance and it's loud. You're going to want to have some headphones for when you're in that mode. I did notice a little more FPS in 2077 in Turbo mode though, I think it was around 5%.
Overall it's really nice laptop, definitely fantastic for carrying around due to it's very slim and lightweight profile. It's sleek looking, not off-putting like many gaming laptops. ASUS really nailed it with the looks. If you're looking for something that has enough grunt to play most modern titles, with a few visual compromises to get more than acceptable performance, the Zephyrus will absolutely fit the bill.

This laptop is fast, powerful, and has an absolutely stunning 3K OLED screen. The Ryzen 9 and RTX 4060 handle gaming and multitasking with no issues, and it’s lightweight enough to carry anywhere. Great performance, great display, and solid battery life. Highly recommend!

I've owned the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 2024 for a couple of months now, and it’s been an amazing experience. The sleek design, smooth display, and powerful performance make it perfect for both university projects and gaming. It boots up quickly, handles multitasking with ease, and the keyboard feels great for long typing sessions. While the fans can get a bit loud during heavy use, it's expected from a high-performance machine. The speakers are surprisingly good, and features like battery optimization and AI performance tuning actually come in handy. It's lightweight and portable enough to carry around daily, yet powerful enough to run apps smoothly.

This review is written by someone who knows nothing about computers but has had multiple laptops throughout her life that get used until the very last screw falls off. I got this laptop for gaming purposes, as well as casual work and browsing but any laptop can do that, so I won't talk about those last two.
As I write this review, I'm still on the fence on returning it. I am leaning more towards return.
The Good:
-Beautiful graphics. I love the Sims 4 (and my 1k+ mods) and if it can run that insane piece of code beautifully, I'm sure it can run other games well. I have an external SSD to be playing other games like BG3 because I did not want to pay so much for extra storage. TV shows also look nice even if they're 20+ years old.
-Incredible speakers. They're life changing. ASUS needs to start selling these speakers separately I am so serious.
-Runs apps smoothly but I feel like that's the bare minimum for most laptops
-Customizing the keyboard light is fun! Although it did take me some time to figure it out. They keyboard itself is pretty great. I have early onset arthritis, and it hasn't triggered any pain even after writing 1k-5k words a day.
-Very lightweight and thin despite its capabilities. I will admit, I mainly bought this one for the aesthetic, but I also care about getting my money's worth.
The Bad:
-When I first got it, something was immediately out of whack with it. So much that I started keeping a log of its infractions.
-- I was typing and it turned off for 2 seconds, went beep, and returned to life TWICE and back to back
--Would not connect to Bluetooth mouse and had distorted audio. I had to restart.
--It performed a system update and uninstalled Windows by itself (like I know Windows 11 sucks but girl... we kinda need it) and I had to consult Reddit for help. I figured out how to reinstall Windows on it using my phone and an SD card. I have not had a problem or glitch with it since this incident which is why I haven't returned it. I was waiting to add to the log but it seems like the reinstalling of Windows helped. The following problems are grievances.
-It updated SO MANY times when I first got it. I was always scared it would uninstall Windows again, but it hasn't.
-So, so loud. Apparently, this entire time that I've taken calls, the laptop has been exuding this chirping sound that people have politely ignored. They said it wasn't loud enough to go "what's wrong with her mic?" but it was noticeable. It just sounds like straight up crickets to me. It's always making some type of noise.
-I am not the first nor the last to talk about how hot this laptop gets. I had to buy a cooling pad separately-especially if I wanted to play games. It's almost a bit ridiculous because why is Word running you ragged? My cooling pad is on most if not all of the time. My previous gaming laptop lasted 4 years without a cooling pad and ran games like Sims 2-4 and Cyberpunk 2077. I don't trust this one without it. Also, I don't enjoy almost burning my fingers.
-Battery life is alright. It charges extremely fast so it makes up for it somewhat. Not a huge con but not a pro either.
It's a stunning machine. I just wish my experience with it, which has been one month now, was better than described above- especially for the insane price tag. I have the extended warranty, so I'm still yes I'll return it, no I'll keep it. Finding out about the chirping is sort of what ticked me off the most.
I genuinely can't recommend this laptop if you're not willing to buy a cooling pad and if you game, an external SSD enclosure. The only reason I still have it is because I can't find another laptop on the market that I like aesthetic wise, but I just don't think that's worth caring about with this much money on the line.

Little powerhouse ready for work or play

This 14-inch Asus ROG Gaming Laptop has a bright screen and plenty of power for gaming and a compact but not too tiny form factor. At 12.26 x 8.66 x 0.63 inches and 3.31 pounds, it is small enough to take along but big enough to immerse yourself in gaming or even work.
What’s in the box:
• Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 Gaming Laptop
• Power supply and cable
The major specs:
• Bright screen 2560 x 1440 QHD 120 Hz refresh rate
• AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS 8 cores / 16 logical processors
• NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 (Laptop) GPU
• 16 GB LPDDR5 SDRAM
• 1 TB NVMe drive
• NVIDIA AD106 HD Audio controller
• WiFi 6
One thing that I really like is that there are 4 USB ports. Yep four! Two USB type A and two USB type C. So many laptops now are really short on USB ports. But this one has four. It also has a 3.5 mm audio jack, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a microSD card reader.
Setup was quick and easy. As soon as it was up and running, I ran PassMark and 3Dmark before making any tweaks.
Benchmark scores:
PassMark Rating 9659.0 (91st percentile) (The CPU and disk scores were really good. Memory score was not.)
3Dmark Time Spy Score 9046
Then I loaded up Steam and played a little Assassin’s Creed Mirage (Demo version) and Dakar Desert Rally. Then I loaded up Fallout… The graphics were smooth and bright. The game play was responsive. I lost track of time….
Cons:
• The keyboard key spacing feels a bit strange. I measured it against the two keyboards I use (for hours everyday..) and the Zephyrus keys are just a tiny bit larger. From the left edge of the cap locks key to the right edge of the enter key is 2 millimeters larger. That doesn’t sound like much but it is taking me a bit to get used to. The action on the keys is fine. It is quick and responsive.
• The display is not 4K. This may not be a deal killer, but it’s worth mentioning.
• Wish I’d paid a bit more and got the 32GB RAM.
In summary, while this is a small form factor for a gaming laptop (and it only has 16 GB RAM) it is a little powerhouse. Take it with you on the road or just keep it handy at home. You can work on it by day and play games at night (or sneak a game in during the day too.)
