Fast Laptop with Limited Upgradability
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is one that would fit a lot of people’s needs and has a lot of great qualities, but there are some limitations that some people might not like. Size, weight, and build quality: The size of this laptop is typical of a laptop of this type, however, the thickness is super thin, especially for a gaming laptop with these specs. It is also pretty lightweight, again for these specs. The build quality is excellent and looks and feels like a very expensive laptop, not that this is cheap, but looks and feels even better. There is very little flex on the screen when it is opened. This is definitely fancy looking and doesn’t look much like a gaming laptop. There is a light stripe on the back of the lid which flickers. It’s the only thing that screams gaming laptop, but it is not obnoxious. I can live without it though and will be turning it off. Performance: Performance is excellent on this thing. There is absolutely no hesitation when doing PC, streaming, and office type work on it. Performance during gaming was excellent as well. I played at the default 60Hz on ultra high settings and saw no frame drops even on complicated backgrounds or action scenes. CPU utilization while gaming was on the high end. It does have 16GB of RAM and 8GB of VRAM which is about the lowest amount you need for today’s games, so there is no headroom there. I didn’t notice any sort of limitation with this. Upgradability: This is where things take a serious nosedive. It has 16GB of RAM and it is soldered to the motherboard so there is no way to upgrade it. While there are two SSD slots, you can only install at most a 2GB SSD in each one. A 4GB SSD doesn’t work. This seriously limits your storage space, especially if you want to install a lot of games. Upgradability is definitely something serious to consider before buying it. Screen: The screen is beautiful, but that is to be expected from an OLED screen. The contrast ratio is really nice with a true black background. The viewing angle is very good but does affect it at big angles. There is a lot of glare when light is shining on it. I noticed that this seems to be the case for all laptops with OLED screens. I don’t think this is specific to this laptop but can diminish how it looks when using it. Because it has an OLED screen, I like to auto-hide the taskbar to help prevent burn-in. This does not work here no matter what I do. I assume this is a Windows problem and not this laptop, but I would expect this to work on a new laptop out of the box. Sound: The sound quality is good, especially for a laptop which typically has poor sound. It has decent bass, good midrange and highs. I have noticed that all my ASUS laptop’s sound blows out the competition. Not sure how they do it but keep it up. It can get loud, so volume is not a problem. Keyboard and touchpad: The keyboard feels very nice with a good amount of travel and a more defined “click” so pressing keys by accident while typing was not a problem. It has your standard laptop keys including a dedicated key for co-pilot AI. I do love the feel of the keyboard and not making mistakes while typing. It is lighted the perfect amount. The touchpad on this thing is huge and sensitive enough to detect your movements without being too sensitive. While the buttons work, I am someone who prefers to tap on the touchpad instead of using the buttons and that works perfectly for me. Again, I love the size and feel of this touchpad. Battery: When using the internet, email, office apps, and videos, I was able to get around 4 hours of battery life. When playing it was only like an hour, but that is to be expected. Gaming always kills the battery, so you really need to plug it in when you are gaming. It takes around an hour to charge. Another really cool thing about this laptop is that there is a setting within the MyASUS app that allows you to set the battery to only charge up to 80% to protect the longevity of the battery. All devices should have this feature. Connectors: This has your standard set of connectors; HDMI, 2 USB-A, 2 USC-C, headphone port, and a card reader. All work as expected. It does have a proprietary power connector so if you are traveling, you will need to bring its power supply with you. I would say the power brick is medium in size. The Wi-Fi connects to the router right away when powering up and stays connected without any problems. MyASUS App: It includes an app called MyASUS that shows you current performance loads like memory and CPU usage, hard drive space used, and battery remaining. You can also do all your system updates including firmware and BIOS. It allows you to run various system diagnostics. It has a bunch of settings such as battery care mode, noise canceling modes (and many of them), TaskFirst which sets up the behavior of the laptop based on the type of work you will be doing (productivity, streaming, games, etc.), and Wi-Fi SmartConnect which will connect to the router with the strongest signal. The app is laid out well and all features of it work as they are supposed to. Asus clearly spent time on the app getting it right, which is not always the case for hardware companies. In conclusion: This is a very nice laptop, has a great look that is not “gamey”, feels great, and performs well. The problem is with its upgradability, or lack of. Decide if you need to upgrade the memory or the SSD bigger than 2GB per slot. If you need to, look elsewhere, otherwise this device is something I recommend that fits the bill. It does have minimum amount of RAM and VRAM, but I didn’t notice any performance problems and was able to play games on ultra-high settings at 60Hz without any hits.

what a beautiful beast of a machine
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.ive been playing around with with Asus ROG latest Zephyrus G16 and man this is such an amazing beautiful beast of a laptop. with performance with the latest RTX 5070 and intel Core ultra 9. this hands down of the best or prob your best laptop you will ever own. the ability to play game on this beautiful of OLED panel at 2560x1600 this will make other people to look for after seeing this beast of a gaming laptop in action. DEVICE: Rog does not miss when it comes to packaging their laptop, but then again if youre paying $2000 for a brand new high end laptop you want to have atleast a great unboxing experience, im glad to say is thats what you will get with this laptop, the unboxing of the device is simple and the quality of the box is amazing in the hand. Zephyrus G16 support 240hz, Gsync, OLED, 0.2ms response time, with up to 500 nits of brightness and 100% DC-P3 for amazing colors. it support 90wh for fast charging. The body is equipped with sleek Aluminum Chasis and the laptop weight 4.30lbs. the power cable is almost like a bigger brother of an USB C, this the first laptop I ever owned that has that and moving forward I would prefer if companies would make this a standard attachment for charging your laptop. G16 support Dolby Atmos and this laptop has 6 speakers with dual side woofers with an amazing sounds quality that has down of the best quality speakers on laptop by far. I/O you get HDMI 2.1 out, 2 USB 3.2 gen 2 type A, audio jack, SD reader, USB 3.2 gen 2 type C. and Thunderbolt 4 type C with power delivery 3.0. EXPERIENCE: gaming on this has been a blast, all games so far has been above 100+ this without even using heavy DLSS, I played mainly The Finals and visual running on 5070 laptop has been great with zero complaints. Doom The Dark Ages also runs great and was able to test out all the last features with DLSS running and being a single player I have no issue having DLSS and it runs amazing. I also tested Valorant and all time great Counter Strike which where you’ll get most of the frame rates! I havent notice any coil noises or heavy fan noise compared to their 2023 Zephyrus that I previously had. I thought the keyboard felt great and I didnt have any issue reaching any keys at all. response time having an OLED is guarantee to be the fastest so thats also another great thing to be upgrading to this 2025 version. CONCLUSION: if you havent tried Asus Rog Zephyrus G16 I highly recommend it due to amazing performance, with top of the line buit qualtyand innovation that Asus come out with every year is something to keep in mind. for the best 2 weeks ive been testing this laptop to my racing sim rig, gaming monitor and even bringing it to my livingroom to just continue the game on the go. I have no negative thing to say about this product honestly for all the game i’ve tested I came out satisfied, from the look of this laptop, performance and quality. this the laptop to consider this year hands down.

Great performance, but some unexpected restarts
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, I’m happy with this product. It performs very well, the screen looks great, and the design feels modern and sturdy. It’s fast for daily tasks and gaming, and the battery works properly with good life. The only issue I’ve experienced is that it has restarted unexpectedly a few times without any clear reason. It doesn’t happen often, but it can be annoying when you’re in the middle of something important. Other than that, everything else has been positive. It’s a solid device for the price and a great choice if you’re looking for good power and performance.

Fantastic Laptop with one caveat
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a fantastic laptop! I've had zero issues with it, the screen, keyboard, performance, and cooling is great. It's super thin and light for a gaming laptop. Runs everything I need decently well, which brings me to my point. This laptop only has 16GB of RAM and is non-upgradable. So for most people, this is not a problem. But it's not really a future proof laptop I would say and can't run some games and programs due to the limitations of RAM. Otherwise though, it's fantastic. I'd consider the 5070 Ti model and above due to this, if you need the extra RAM.

One of the best laptops I've ever owned!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of the best laptops I've ever owned, and I have used a lot of them. I've always wanted the Zephyrus, but the older models were just too big and bulky to carry around. This one though has out done itself. I'm upgrading from a ROG Flow and what a difference in not only quality but performance as well. Design ----- The design of the Zephyrus G16 is exactly what it should have been for a while now, more of an aluminum unibody casing and less of the plasticky feel. The only issue for some is that this makes it a little more non-customizable in the sense that you can change or swap out too many parts when you want. You’re limited to the configuration that you buy at the time. For example, you're unable to change the RAM in this model. So, if you’re looking for more RAM you need to go up in specs. The keyboard feels nice to type on and is spaced out well enough. The keys are backlit as well with the ability to change colors, typical of a gaming laptop. The brightness of the backlight is great as well. The trackpad is massive. And takes up a good chunk of space, there is enough room for your hand to rest though when typing on the right and left sides. Performance ------ This is a gaming laptop, so I expected performance to be at the same level or better than my previous ROG Flow and this one surpassed my expectations. Running games like Wuthering Waves or Zenless Zone Zero was flawless. Both with the GPU set to Standard kept a constant 60 FPS, more specifically with ZZZ I was able to keep the framerate unlimited with all settings at max with. It kept up, hovering around 110-120 fps. Apps open extremely quick, and any stuttering or lag is few and far between nothing drastic. Battery ------ The battery on this computer surprised me a lot. I expected it to last a little bit on the shorter side, but it turns out, it’s entirely the opposite. Especially when you keep a lot of high-performance settings on the low side. For instance, turn down the screen refresh rate and use the Eco mode. I can easily get about 5-7 hours, which for a PC with these kinds of specs is on definitely on the higher side. This is best laptop I have ever used and if ROG can keep this kind of quality up, I’ll definitely be in the market for another.

Great but...
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Computer. It has an amazing screen, the keyboard is great, Speakers sound good. Its thin and light and very portable, I would give it 5 stars but this specific configuration is not the best. 16GB of ram is ok but windows uses up about 7-8GB just to run. The RTX 5070 is great but it is limited by the wattage it is feed. Not a bad thing since it is a thin and light, but the 5070Ti has 12GB of VRAM compared to 8GB. Also. the computer crashed when I was trying to retrieve photos off of an SD card. It crashed mulptiple time so i had to return it.

Slim and lightweight but with plenty of power
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 2025 Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 follows the design language of last years’ update with the sleek form factor and external slash lighting on the cover. The 2025 model makes incremental improvements over the 2024 model – namely the upgrade to the 5XXX series GPU’s and some processor updates. My immediate impression is the this laptop was how thin and light it felt for a laptop of its size. It follows the previous design of an Ultrabook feel with gaming bones. Specs Processor – Intel Core Ultra 9 285H - CPU 16C/16T @ 2.5 GHz with boost to 5.4 GHz Graphics – NVidia GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU w/ 8GB GDDR7 @ 1500 MHz Intel Arc 140T 8 core onboard the Processor @ 300MHz boosted to 2350MHz Memory – Onboard 16GB LPDDR5X 7467 Dual Channel (80-68-68-160) Storage – 1TB PCI-e Gen4x4 NVME Micron 2500 MTFDKBA1T0QGN-1BN1AABGA Display - 16” 2560 x 1600p 16:10 (WQXGA) OLED screen @240HZ, 0.2ms, 100% DCI-P3, G-Sync Camera – 1080p IR Webcam with Windows Hello Network Adapter – 802.11be (WiFi 7 Triple Band) adapter / Bluetooth 5.4 Radio Ports – 1X USB 4 Type-C with DisplayPort and power delivery / 1X USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C with DisplayPort / 2X USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A / 1X HDMI 2.1 / 3.5mm TRRS jacks for headsets / 1 SD Reader Battery – 90Wh – 30min for 0-50% charging and 8-10 hours of web browsing and some light gaming OS – Windows 11 Home – a few preinstalled ASUS utilities Design This generation of the G16 doesn’t deviate much at all from the 2024 edition in terms of layout and aesthetic. I have the G14 from last year, so while not the exact same model, I can see a lot of shared/unchanged design cues. The body remains a machined aluminum 6063 chassis that is thin and sturdy to the touch. My initial impression when pulling this out of the packaging was how it felt exactly like my G14, albeit larger. This laptop design does have a very premium feel to it that is not unlike a Surface or HP Spectre or Dell XPS. While this does have some solid gaming chops it doesn’t scream “Gaming.” The only items that slightly give it away are the slash lighting and the full RGB backlit keyboard. Other than that, the fit/finish of the aluminum chassis, the thin profile, and the Eclipse Gray finish presents this laptop as a professional device. As with other ASUS devices this comes bundled with their Armoury Crate software suite. The software allows you to customize the slash lighting and the color effects of the keyboard. The software also shows the status of system components and is the main update center for any hardware utilities. The hinge opens about 135° and holds the its position well. I didn’t notice much difficulty opening it from one corner, nor did I notice any real flexing or twisting of the display panel while opening it this way. The main body is very slim at .69” at its thickest and weighing right at 4.3lbs. The laptop is 13.94” wide in order to accommodate the larger screen, which keeps its bezels very thin on the sides. This years G16 swings back from a mostly AMD lineup in 2024 to utilize the latest Intel CPU’s. This model comes with a Core Ultra 9 285H, which sports 16 cores and 16 threads of processing. These 16 cores are broken up into 3 groups – performance, efficiency, and low power efficiency. The 285H has 6 performance cores, 8 efficiency cores, and 2 low power efficiency cores. For any intensive/demanding task the CPU will utilize the 6 performance cores, while background processes will be handled by the low power efficiency cores. Day to day tasks (web browsing, Word/Excel, etc) can be handled by the efficiency cores as they have a lower power draw, which is important if you are on battery. The onboard graphics card is a Nvidia 5070 mobile GPU. The 5070 supports DX12 Ultimate, ray tracing and DLSS 4.0. The laptop can be connected to multiple external monitors through the HDMI 2.1 port or through Type-C ports (they all support DisplayPort. Your monitor count is limited by the bandwidth each monitor needs. The G16 comes with a 16GB of LPDDR5X 7467 RAM in dual channel mode. The RAM is integrated into the motherboard, and there are no additional slots to expand the memory. This is a little unfortunate since we are just on the verge of needing to move to 32GB for some AAA games. However, 16GB is still plenty for the majority of games you will likely play, but it can be a downside if you plan to use this for productivity or work tasks like rendering, 3D modeling, or photo/video editing. Storage comes in the form of a 1TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 NVME drive from Micron. There is one additional slot available so your storage can easily be expanded beyond the initial 1TB. The display is a 16” 2560 x 1600p OLED screen with a 240Hz refresh rate and a 0.2ms response time. ASUS calls this their Nebula Display. This is a 16:10 display, which I actually prefer since it provides a little more vertical real estate. At this resolution you come away with a 188.7 PPI density, which provides super sharp details. This appears to be the only display offered on this year’s G16. The 0.2 ms response time is very fast among compared to most displays, but it is right in line with what an OLED can provide. The display is very bright with a peak 500nit brightness – more than enough to stay bright in a well-lit space, and easily clears the brightness required for HDR support. This display supports Dolby Vision HDR, and it carries Pantone color validation along with a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut for a very accurate display color. Thanks to the MUX switch and Nvidia Advanced Optimus the display can be driven seamlessly by the 5070 GPU or by the processor based ARC 140T. The system automatically toggles between the GPUs depending on the process needs, the only time I notice the switch is when a little Nvidia popup blips in the bottom right screen corner. Other than that it is 100% seamless. The screen is excellent to watch movies and TV. I took the G16 on a work trip and now on vacation, so I have played several 4K movies from my library, which all looked terrific. The deep blacks produced by an OLED is hard to beat, and it makes the switch back to a regular TN/IPS display that much harder. Games and Benchmarking I ran the G16 through the same series of benchmarks (3DMark Time Spy and Steel Nomad, GeekBench 6, PCMark, Cinebench R23, Dirt Rally Benchmark, and Shadow of War Benchmark) that I use to test my PC’s when I am trying out a new one or tweaking settings. I included a screenshot of my raw results table, which is with the standard G16 settings right out of the box. The gaming benchmarks show that this will be a solid performing system at 2.5K, 1440p, and 1080p. Running on maxed out settings those benchmarks showed high avg FPS that sits well above where most would say a game is running a playable framerate. The aluminum chassis dissipates the heat pretty well and it only starts to feel fairly warm on my legs under heavier loads. The fan kicks into high speed under load and does a good job of keeping the temps in check. It isn’t overly loud, and is fairly similar noise output to my other gaming laptops. There’s a warm spot that shows up near the display above the function key row. The warm spot extends down to the function row, but I don’t feel it from the number row down. For the most part the chassis design does a good job of dissipating and directing the heat of the back of the laptop. Overall, it was an improvement across the board over my 2024 G14, which has fairly similar specs from the prior generation - 4070, 32GB of memory, and Ryzen 8945HS CPU. I loaded up Halo Infinite through Gamepass. The laptop comes with a 3-month Gamepass code, which I stacked onto my existing subscription. With Halo Infinite 2.5K at the high settings looked really good. The in game resource monitor showed ultra settings would need the full 8GB of VRAM, which meant I needed to dial it back to the high preset to play at 2.5K. I played several games and multiple maps with these settings, and using the Windows Game Bar I was able to catch a glance at my FPS. I did not see it below 100 the entire time I played – even with a vehicles and a lot going on in-frame. I typically saw it hovering around 115-120 fps. Dropping it back to 1440p I didn’t see a huge jump – just 5-10 more fps. Bringing it down to 1080p allowed me to bump up to Ultra settings, which nearly maxed out the VRAM allocation. I was still able to hover over 100fps for several games. Bringing it back to high settings brought a large jump to 170fps with lows in the 140’s. In all cases the fans were on full blast, but the laptop didn’t get overly warm. Keyboard and Trackpad The keyboard is a tenkeyless full RGB chiclet membrane design. The keyboard feels very similar if not identical to my G14. It’s a nice typing experience - the keys are quiet, nicely spaced, and are easy to identify with the backlight off. The key travel is 1.7mm which means you actually have some depth to the keys. With the lighting on the keys really shine and pass the light through easily. The trackpad is pretty good, and its large. It sits right around 6 x 4”, so it really is a large touch surface. I didn’t have any problem with gesture registration or finger tracking on the trackpad. It is fairly easy to click it as long as you are clicking in the lower half of the trackpad. Final Thoughts The updated G16 comes with plenty of horsepower in the CPU and GPU department to make it ready for intense gaming loads. The bright OLED screen is a terrific panel and makes the user experience that much better. The overall design of the laptop is very pleasing – I really like the slim form and lightweight design. The only downside to this platform is the use of onboard RAM modules and the lack of expansion there. 16GB is still considered acceptable for any game out there, but time has shown that games will need more eventually. If 16GB is fits your needs, then this isn’t really a problem.

LOVING IT. (G16 5070 + Ultra 9 Series 2 285H)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Saw this product without a rating and wanted to risk it. Picked it up the same day and compared it to my 2023 G14, you can clearly see the difference between an OLED and a LED/IPS panel. Superb! The performance is also very good. When you’re holding the laptop you can tell how good the quality is, because of the aluminum it feels PREMIUM to the touch. Happy kiddo.

The sweet spot for on-the-go (that battery!)
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop does it all: entertainment, productivity, and gaming. The screen is so beautiful. I am truly impressed by it and love seeing everything through this screen. I am a little concerned about the 16GB of RAM and the sort of dismayed by the 5070's 8GB of VRAM, but it seemed to handle whatever I needed it for, so far. I do think the trackpad is a bit too big but it feels so nice. The keyboard is pretty comfortable but I wish this had per-key RGB, especially for how expensive this laptop is. The battery life on this is FANTASTIC. I was a bit doubtful because I believed in the talk that Intel configurations had horrible battery life compared to the AMD configurations. However, that was not the case and even the Intel configuration could last me up to 7hrs of mixed use (streaming videos and doing office work). I ended taking this back because there was a really great deal on the RTX 5080 + 64GB configuration that I couldn't let pass. However, I think even this configuration is going to be very enjoyable for most of the consumers.

Power and elegance in one machine – The Zephyrus G
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 with RTX 5070 and 16GB of RAM is simply outstanding. From the moment you turn it on, you can tell it’s a premium laptop — the aluminum chassis feels solid, the keyboard is comfortable and quiet, and the OLED display is absolutely stunning. The colors are vibrant, the brightness is excellent, and the 240 Hz refresh rate makes everything look incredibly smooth, whether you’re gaming or editing videos. The performance is top-tier. Demanding games run effortlessly, load times are lightning-fast, and the system stays responsive even with heavy multitasking. The cooling system does a great job keeping temperatures under control without being too noisy. Another big plus is portability — despite all its power, it’s slim and lightweight, perfect for travel or work on the go. Battery life is also impressive considering the performance it packs. Overall, the Zephyrus G16 strikes the perfect balance between power, design, and display quality. It’s a laptop that truly delivers and is worth every penny.

Docked a star for 16GB ram (non-replaceable) and build quality, it is built way better than most windows laptops but still is not 100% that of a MacBook, which is kind of what I was expecting. Love the aluminum chassis and screen/keyboard, just a little less confidence-inspiring than I would've liked while opening and closing lid. Overall a great laptop, would highly recommend especially if on sale under $2000
I would recommend this to a friend
