The laptop for gamers on the go!

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 laptop offers plenty of impressive specs that should satisfy most gamers looking for a gaming laptop that’s both powerful and compact. It’s 4.3 lbs, so a little heavier than a typical lightweight notebook. It’s thinner and more size efficient than my previous Asus ROG laptop from several years ago, so I like the direction it’s going. It features an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor (2.9 GHz, 16 cores) with an Intel AI Boost NPU up to 13TOPS, making it very responsive to handling modern games. Fortnite, for example was able to handle both high textures and frame rates. At 120 fps, I was able to run most of the graphic settings on the “Epic” setting, and it was smooth in both menus and gameplay. Even at 240 fps, which is maximum, worked surprisingly well on the same settings. Single player games work well too. Control, for instance, played fine on default settings. Unfortunately, control was lost when trying to push the graphics even further, but I blame the instability on the game in this instance. The 16” OLED display is 2.5K with a 16:10 aspect ratio. HDR is available for supported content, but even SDR content looks incredible on this display. The blacks are nicely dark, the whites are pleasingly bright and the colors are rich and detailed. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti (12GB) seems to handle the graphics beautifully. There’s a switch to “Olympus” when starting games, which is a new concept for me, but it seems to be an AI powered way to enhance graphics even further. The combination is truly making games enjoyable to look at. With 32GB memory, the G16 laptop is not only capable of handling modern games, but also video editing. A nice added bonus for a laptop that will fit in most backpacks. In case you’re wondering, I checked my backpack that is limited to 15” laptops, and although the display is 16” on this one, it fit perfectly. The 1TB SSD is fast and responsive, both in regards to downloading games and running games and programs. Wi-Fi 7 allows for smooth, quick downloads of modern games, and with a 1TB SSD, there’s plenty of room for your favorite games. Connecting my Bluetooth mouse took only a few seconds, and it even suggested downloading the app for the mouse shortly after that. I was using the mouse mostly for gaming, but with that being said, the trackpad works excellently for typical tasks. Audio-wise, the laptop offers a 4-speaker system with Dolby Atmos with plenty of loudness and clarity. If you don’t have a headset, there’s a built-in microphone to allow in-game communication. There’s also some form of AI noise-canceling technology, that seemed a bit confused between my voice and my air conditioner while I was testing out the Copilot feature. The top of the laptop features “slash lighting” which is a constantly flashing strip that is customizable through an app on the computer. You don’t see this while using the laptop, so what you do with it, is entirely up to you. Personally, I reduced the brightness quite a bit. Additionally, the keyboard features customizable RGB backlighting. The webcam is 1080p (30 fps) and can be used for Windows Hello. The image quality is nothing special, and seems to feature some kind of AI enhancements on certain things, like my eyes. Very convenient for video calls. Connecting other devices is easy with one 3.5mm audio jack (mic and headphones), one HDMI 2.1, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (with DisplayPort support), one Thunderbolt 4 (with DisplayPort support) and an SD card reader. The only thing missing in my opinion is an Ethernet port. Lastly, it comes preinstalled with Windows 11 Home. There are several mandatory updates on day one, which took about an hour to complete. This included updates for Windows, Windows Store, ASUS and BIOS. After that, you can game all night! I highly recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a portable gaming setup that will work internationally, in case you’re a world traveler. Enjoy high frame rates, SSD speeds and an OLED display that makes any game look beautiful!

The sweet spot in gaming laptops—power and style

The sweet spot in gaming laptops—power, style, and surprising value The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 delivers where it counts. Sporting a CNC aluminum chassis and a sleek 0.59" profile, it's light enough (4.3lbs) to go anywhere, but loaded with enough firepower to take on AAA titles and creative software alike. Gaming & Graphics Let’s be honest—NVIDIA’s 50 series GPUs haven’t exactly set the world on fire. But the 5070 Ti stands out as the exception. It’s the sweet spot of the 50xx lineup, striking the perfect balance between power and price. Compared to last year’s 4070 model, the G16 is a huge leap forward—not just in GPU performance but with double the RAM, now at 32GB. Gaming is simply fantastic. The OLED Nebula display is gorgeous, with refresh rates so fast they outpace what your eyes can process. Cranking Cyberpunk to ultra settings was stunning—realistic lighting, smooth frame rates, no stutter. I eventually dropped to recommended ultra to tame the fans, still kept most of the eye candy, and gained around 10+ FPS. You can absolutely max out most games, and the fans won’t deafen you… though I wouldn’t run it flat out for hours if you care about long-term longevity. But hey, you do your thing. Creative & Productivity I haven’t stressed it with demanding creative programs yet, but DaVinci Resolve loaded up quickly and ran without issue. With Intel’s Core Ultra 9 chip and built-in AI accelerators, it’s clearly built to keep up with serious work. Display & Build The OLED screen, with 2.5K resolution and 240Hz refresh rate, paired with G-SYNC, eliminates visual tearing and input lag. It’s stunning for both gaming and editing. The CNC aluminum chassis and customizable lighting elevate the design—solid, sleek, and personal. Thermals & Cooling Liquid metal cooling paired with Arc Flow Fans keeps the system relatively chill under pressure. The vapor chamber does its job, and while you’ll hear the fans during intense gaming, they’re not overly obnoxious. Intelligent cooling plus the automatic MUX Switch make balancing performance and battery life seamless. Audio & Connectivity Six speakers, boosted woofers, and Dolby Atmos mean you won’t feel like you need external audio unless you’re mixing tracks. Connectivity is great too—USB-C, HDMI 2.1, UHS-II MicroSD, the works. Extras & Overall Impression The 3-month PC Game Pass is a nice touch. Windows Copilot AI features are neat but feel like they’re still evolving. For now, they’re more novelty than necessity. Final thoughts: If you’re looking for a premium gaming and creative laptop that doesn’t fall into the trap of flashy specs with underwhelming delivery, the Zephyrus G16 with the 5070 Ti might just be your best bet. It’s stylish, ridiculously fast, and surprisingly well-balanced. Not perfect—but pretty darn close.

I bought an excellent open-box version of this laptop, and I'd say it's a really well-built machine. I do have a few cons, though, from buying an open box item. - The computer keys on the left side of the keyboard (including the space bar) were really sticky or hard to press. Like if someone spilt something on it and dried over time. I was really hesitant about returning the item because of this, since I bought the "Excellent" product of an open box, and felt that this should not be an issue at all. - When using Ghelper, I tried to tweak my settings to get a little bit of fan noise, but ended up receiving a coil whine from it. This is probably from user error when adjusting the settings, so I decided to go back to the armoury crate for the time being. - Sometimes it would shut down randomly or crash when I first received the device, but it seemed to have gone away after a week of use. Overall, I enjoy this laptop so much and appreciate its portability. Games run really well, and I completed Resident Evil Requiem on almost max settings with around 80 FPS on performance mode. The silent mode when playing games is great, while performance is tolerable, but Turbo is too loud for me (Especially playing next to my wife while she is sleeping). I would say this product is a 9/10 for overall use, but with my other issues due to buying an open box, it takes a point off, so 8/10. P.S. The screen is amazing

    The Gaming Macbook

The 2025 Zephyrus G16 is probably the first time a "thin and light" gaming laptop actually feels like it has zero compromises. Usually, you’re choosing between a brick that games well or a sleek ultrabook that dies in two hours, but this hits the sweet spot. Performance & DLSS 4 The RTX 5070 Ti is a beast, but the real magic here is DLSS 4. In Forza Horizon 5 on Extreme settings, it runs incredibly smoothly with zero frame stuttering or loss. With the new AI frame reconstruction and the Blackwell architecture, I was seeing 150+ FPS consistently. It makes the 240Hz OLED panel actually feel useful rather than just a spec on a box. Everything looks incredibly sharp, and the motion clarity is on another level. Battery Life This is the part that usually kills gaming laptops, but the Intel Core Ultra 9 (Series 2) combined with the 90Wh battery is surprisingly efficient. If you’re just doing the "office/student" thing (which I am), web browsing, YouTube, or some Word docs—you can actually squeeze over 10 hours out of it on a single charge. You do have to be smart (switch to Eco mode and turn down the brightness a bit as well as disabling the dGPU), but the fact that you can leave the charger at home for a full day of work is a huge win. Final Thoughts It’s not cheap, but you’re paying for the build quality. The CNC aluminum chassis feels like a MacBook, but it runs Cyberpunk and Forza better than almost anything in its weight class. Pros: Incredible OLED screen, legit all-day battery, and DLSS 4 is a game-changer for high-refresh gaming. Cons: It can get a bit loud and hot in Turbo mode, and the price tag is definitely "premium."

I think this laptop is great! I'm upgrading from the previous with 16gb of ram and a rtx 4070. I need more ram and little more GPU power for my personal project needs and gaming. I think this specific model of this laptop is the sweet spot. It's a very nice all metal light weight laptop I can travel with and still have enough power to play my favorite games with good settings and fps. The OLED screen is amazing, the keyboard is very nice, touch pad is very sleek, and the speakers are great. The only thing about this laptop that technology hasn't been able to solve yet is that it can be loud under 100% load at full power draw. Under normal load and casual internet browsing, YouTube, coding, twitch, all of it is quiet. I don't have any problems so far with this laptop. I don't think anyone who gets this will be disappointed. If it fits your needs I think you'll like this laptop.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I shopped and researched for months before pulling the trigger and I’ve been very satisfied. I hadn’t had a PC for games in almost 20 years and that was the sole purpose of the purchase. I chose this bc I like the thing metal design, similar to Mac specs, yet still being more than powerful than what I’d likely need. The feel of it is fantastic. OLED screen is super brilliant, and plenty bright, I have it turned way down on brightness and I don’t see ever needing it turned way. I wanted a laptop that I could use at a desk for FPS games like DayZ and Hell Let Loose, but also for playing on my lap lounged back with strategy games like Civilizations, Paradox games like Crusader Kings and such. It’s handled everything flawlessly. You’d want a think pad or something if gaming on your lap. Fans can be loud but I don’t find them obnoxious, they are clearly louder in FOS games but with a headset on you can’t hear them. Lounging back watching tv and playing a game fans are fine. I spent a lot of time debating what laptop to get and I’m glad I went this. I almost waited for the 2026 line up, but I didn’t see the need for the next best thing with the likely price jump. Laptop I bought at regular price but went on sale for $530 off after and got that back. It was still worth it st full price. I hope this review helps someone, as I spent a lot of time shopping for this as well.

I recently got the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 with the RTX 5070 Ti from Best Buy and it’s been great for both gaming and creative work. The 16″ 240 Hz OLED screen looks amazing with sharp colors and smooth motion, and the performance with the Intel Core Ultra 9 + RTX 5070 Ti combo handles modern games and demanding tasks without breaking a sweat. Battery life is decent for everyday stuff, though it doesn’t last as long under heavy gaming, and the fans can kick up when things get intense. Overall it’s a solid laptop that feels premium and powerful, especially for the price.

ASUS - ROG Zephyrus G16 16" OLED Gaming Laptop

I want to start off by letting folks know what exactly the Zephyrus line of ASUS laptops actually is. This specific line focuses primarily on thin/light/mobile design vs trying to be the fastest and highest performing laptop in ASUS' lineup. --Design-- The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is a super thin 16" OLED gaming laptop. For reference sake, it is identical thickness to the M series Macbook Pro line. On the lid, there is a cool diagonal LED strip which can be customized to flash in different ways vis the Armory Crate app. I found the effects to be plentiful and all of them had a really cool, cyberpunk like effect. The only drawback is that white is the only color. The backlit keyboard was plenty bright and offers an array of RGB color options. Key presses are snappy and responsive. It's on part with the best laptop keyboards around. There is a very large touchpad that has touch sensitivity capability, meaning, you can "tap" the touchpad anywhere and it responds. 1 finger for normal click and 2 fingers for right click. It can however actually press, however, it's a dive board mechanism so you must have ringers towards the bottom to register. I wish this was more haptic feedback non mechanical, but the touch make this mostly ok. The grey color has a nice look to it, and there is an embossed Republic of Gamers icon on the lid as well, though only visible in certain lighting. This is a very clean, minimal laptop. Ports are all that is necessary, though since it's so thin, no dedicated ethernet ports are included, which for a gaming laptop, may be a deal breaker. The 240hz OLED panel is gorgeous and super sharp at 2560 x 1600 resolution. Colors are very accurate as well. Since this is a Zephyrus, despite having top of the line hardware (Ultra 9, Geforce RTX 5070 ti) things have to be curtailed a bit to maintain proper throttling. My last gen ASUS laptop with a RTX 4080 for example, is significantly faster than this laptop. This Zephyrus is more about balancing performance with thin and clean design. Some 3DMark benchmarks you should compare to other laptops before making a purchase: TimeSpy: 13592 Storage: 1944 CPU Profile: 1233 - 11113 Speed Way: 3489 Port Royal: 9705 Steel Nomad: 3316 I found I had to significantly reduce graphics and visuals compared to other, older machines I had. For example, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 I had to take from the ultra highest settings, where i get an average of 100 FPS down to "low' to achieve something half way decent around 60-80 FPS Even easy, non taxing games like Counter-Strike 2 needed some of the higher graphics setting toned down. Before anything thinks I simply didn't have the dedicated GPU enabled, I did. I even disabled the onboard and forced the 5070 ti to be the only dedicated GPU in the system to avoid the annoyance of the constant switching. Other use cases such as Photoshop, video editing, etc should be just fine. You may need to tweak the automatic GPU detection so that you're using the Nvidia GPU vs the onboard. If you're i the market for a balanced gaming yet thin and light travel companion, the Zephyrus line is worth considering. It's excellent in this category. If you simply want the best gaming laptop you can get or only care about performance, look at a different model

This is everything you would expect from a high end gaming Laptop... including the heat :) It plays cyberpunk 2077 better than my gaming desktop, looks incredible on the screen, and has handled everything I throw at it. It is thinner than my work Laptop, and runs faster/better. The only complaint is how hot it gets. You can turn the fans to turbo, but still not touch the heat. If you're looking for extended game play with any type of graphic clarity, you will want a laptop cooler.

I’ve been using the Zephyrus G16 for a few weeks now and I’m honestly impressed with how powerful and well-designed it is. The OLED 2.5K display with the 240Hz refresh rate looks absolutely stunning — colors are vibrant, blacks are deep, and everything feels incredibly smooth whether I’m gaming, watching videos, or doing creative work. Performance is excellent thanks to the Intel Core Ultra 9 and the RTX 5070 Ti. I’ve been able to run demanding games and multitask without any lag. Programs like Adobe apps, 3D software, and heavy browsing run effortlessly. The 32GB of RAM also makes a huge difference for productivity. Another thing I really appreciate is the build quality. It feels premium and surprisingly thin for such a powerful machine. The keyboard is comfortable for long sessions and the cooling system keeps temperatures under control even during intensive tasks. Overall, this laptop is a perfect balance between performance, portability, and design. Whether you’re a gamer, creator, or someone who needs serious power for work, this machine delivers. Highly recommended.

Stunning laptop. Yea the price is high but this is an incredible machine. The display is gorgeous. OLED makes a huge difference for you hard visual advocates. The best thing about the guy is that it makes the most of its internal components and gives exceptional gaming performance all while only weighing 5 pounds. Its cooling system is premium although still recommend using a cooling pad for gaming. Every device that puts out serious energy is going to create heat so yes it can get hot but the design of this guy makes it where you can still have this thing in your bear skin lap at peak temperatures and be fine. It has a premium build all around and puts my iMac to shame. 16 inch screen is a perfect size and the device can be used as a console just by connecting to a compatible monitor or TV. Great job ASUS. Thank you

Great Computer, I recently sold my Home Desktop that i built as i needed something more portable. I originally purchased a Lenovo Legion 7I (Which i really liked) But the VRAM became a issue on the card for me running thing on the native resolution. Only think i will say the Lenovo has over the Zephyrus is the keyboard feel, screen brightness, and the CPU power with the HX Chip. Will say switching to this laptop i do not regret it. The 285H is plenty powerful to handle anything i throw at it and the battery life on this thing is double the Legion's which i really like. The 5070 TI is a wonderful choice for this computer especially when you set up armory create to run it at the 120 watts compared to the 105 Watts. This thing will blow though most games i throw at it at ultra/High settings. Also the speakers on this think is amazing the sound stage that this thing can produce is amazing. Things i do wish this laptop had 1st i do wish Asus would release this laptop with the 5070 TI with the AMD 370 as that CPU is way more efficient then the ultra 9 285H so you can get more consistent wattage to your GPU. 2nd I also wish this thing had per key RGB which for the money you would think that would be a thing. 3rd i also wish the screen could match the brightness of the legion 7i so that gaming in well lighted areas would be much easier. 4th i also wish you had 1 upgrade slot for ram like the old Zephyrus laptops so that 32 is on the board but you can add an additional 32 if you want (This is over kill but would be nice). And lastly i do wish the cooling design would be robust enough so that the laptop would stay cool while i have the lid closed and plugged into a monitor at work without getting a warning from armor create about the heat management. But all in all i will say i am very happy with this laptop.

I wanted to love this laptop because on paper it’s close to perfect. The screen is absolutely stunning, performance is top tier, and it has that premium feel that most Windows laptops don’t. When it’s at its best, it’s one of the nicest devices I’ve ever used. That said, after spending real time with it, I’m honestly conflicted and may end up returning it. My biggest issue is that the experience hasn’t felt as polished or “easy” as I expected for the price. There are moments where it runs hot and ramps up fans quickly, even during normal use, and that makes it feel less comfortable as an everyday laptop. The OLED display is gorgeous, but it can also feel like I’m constantly tweaking settings to balance battery life vs brightness vs performance. For a device this expensive, I expected the out-of-box experience to feel more effortless. I also opened the bottom panel to check/upgrade, and while that’s normal for enthusiasts, it’s still frustrating that something as simple as maintenance can make you feel nervous about long-term fit and return risk. Nothing is broken, but it’s one more thing that makes me question whether I want to keep this particular unit long-term. It’s an amazing machine in terms of raw power and visuals, but I’m not convinced it’s the right device for daily use and for this price, it has to be a clear “yes,” not a “maybe.”

This is the best laptop I've ever owned. The screen quality is fantastic, battery life is incredible, and the look and feel of the laptop is professional and high quality. This is a premium laptop, and provides the best Windows experience on a laptop. I feel like I'm using a Mac. I can take this laptop to a coffee shop or library to work and nobody would know that it's a gaming PC. It has none of the flashy rgb, bulk or framing that a gaming laptop has and I am so thankful for that. I use this laptop for everything including work, streaming, browsing and some light gaming. I get about 8-10 hours of battery on browsing/streaming activities, not sure about gaming I just leave it plugged in,. It's pricier than other laptops with similar specs, but you get a much higher quality build and significantly better battery life. It is worth the extra money, HIGHLY RECOMMEND. High

The ASUS Zephyrus G16, a 2025 model, is an outstanding laptop with an incredibly brilliant OLED display, powered by a powerful Intel Ultra 9 processor and the outstanding Nvidia RTX 5070Ti Graphics Card. The 1TB SSD, coupled with the 32GB of Ram, and 12GB of VRAM, effortlessly handles Windows 11 Home applications and power-hungry Games. In fact, I downloaded Call of Duty Special Ops 7, and ran the Game without difficulty in the Performance Mode, which can be accessed and easily fine tuned with the built-in ASUS Armoury screen. There is no excessive heat during Gaming, and fan noise could only be heard without headphones. I liked this laptop so much that I also purchased the ASUS headphones, and then the fantastic ASUS Raikiri-2 Gaming controller. ASUS has certainly nailed it with this model, and I highly recommend it along with the ASUS Headphones and Raikiri-2 Controller. If you want the best, along with affordability, by this ASUS model!

I like this laptop a lot, as a college student I wanted a laptop that could do anything I needed and be high quality light and portable. And this laptop hits all those marks, I’ve regularly been getting 10+ hours of battery life while doing engineering software. The screens and speakers are best in class. The only hit I have on it is that it’s not like a MacBook in where in order to get the best battery life you need to use a 3rd party software “ghelper” to get best performance and battery life, ditch all the Asus software, it sucks. Additionally there are some quirks, the intel iGPU fights the Nvidia one and causes screen flashing, I had to adjust some settings to fix it. If you have the knowledge to optimize this laptop it might be the best laptop money can buy.

This is a fantastic laptop and exactly what I had been looking for. A high performance Windows laptop with a great design and an overall quality that is on par with my MacBooks. The 5070ti is a great fit for the G16 and probably the sweet spot when it comes to gaming GPU's in this small chassis. The wattage for the GPU is capped at 125w which offers great performance without the GPU getting too hot and it's not too far off the actual watt limit of the chip (140w). The Intel CPU 285H does a good job in games but it does reach quite high temps if you don't restrict the auto CPU boost function. I saw max CPU temps of 105c on a regular basis at stock settings. The CPU only reached the +100c temps for a second during CPU boosts but I wasn't too comfortable with the CPU getting so hot even if it was only for a second or two. Thankfully it was very easy adjusting the CPU boost setting so that now I don't see the CPU going past 90c and it doesn't restrict the gaming performance of the laptop in any meaningful way. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend this product to anyone looking for strong gaming performance in a beautiful, high quality package.

The ASUS Zephyrus G16 is an awesome laptop if you need power and portability. It handles schoolwork, creative projects, and gaming without breaking a sweat — video editing, coding, and AAA games all run super smooth. The screen is crisp and colorful, the keyboard feels great for long typing sessions, and the battery life is solid for a high-performance machine. It’s a bit pricey, but for what you get — speed, performance, and build quality — it’s totally worth it.

The design is very elegant. High refresh rate gaming on an oled device this thin is difficult to describe. It puts every other device I own to shame, and I have a lot of nice devices. the 5070ti puts on a great performance at this wattage and this is the sweet spot for this chassis. the 5080 variant is limited more by the wattage limits of this chassis. You can almost reach the 5080 performance by installing g-helper on the 5070 g16, which I highly recommend. The speakers on this laptop are also top notch. They strongly remind me of macbook speakers. The chassis is also metal. disabling 2 performance cores, and 4 e cores dramatically increases battery life without significantly reducing gaming performance. This is basically a gaming macbook.

I was in the market for a new laptop with the new 5000 series nvidia graphics card. I was running an Alienware M16 R1 with the 4070. I pretty much could run everything with that but it was huge and I wanted a glossy screen for video and photo editing. So here comes this ASUS ROG Z G16. It might have a funny name but it looks like a serious competitor for 2025 Laptop of the Year. Love the style, the thinness, and the lack of a huge screen bezel. Pros: -Screen is bright -screen is glossy -Screen has a lot of color contrast -No ghosting -Keyboard feel good (RGB too) -The back RGB is a nice touch -Speakers sound good (better than my already good Alienware) -Plenty of usb ports -SD card reader -the 5070 ti rips through AAA games -stays cool during gaming (no throttling noticed) -significantly quieter than my Alienware m16 Could Be Better - intel processor is meh - touchpad is huge and makes it uncomfortable to play my hands - power brick is small and only 240w (my Alienware is 330w but it is huge as is the laptop) - seriously 1TB generic ssd - small battery - windows OS is just terrible* This laptop gives off MacBook Air M4 vibes in the styling. *Took me 30 minutes from initial power on to get into windows. That is after I ran the code to not have to sign into Microsoft account. But that is not the last of it. Once I got into windows more drivers were being downloaded and I was prompted to update the bios. So another 15 minutes of setup puts me 45 minutes from initial startup. But hold on, one more windows update needed a restart. So onto downloading war zone. The laptop freezes. No response. Had to hold power down and force restart. Let’s try running war zone again. Nope get some weird static on the screen and yup we are frozen again. Another forced restart. Back at it, weird static again. Get kicked out, Optimus kept switching back and forth from Nvidia GPU to iGPU. Once that was settled everything was good. I blame windows more than asus on that one. That is the reason I am taking off one star and the stingy storage.
