I bought an open box G16 with the ryzen AI 9 and 4070. Wow what an amazing laptop. Chassis is only comparable to top tier macbook pro. Screen is amazing. The OLED is for real. It's different than an IPS or VA panel and so much better in so many respects, but does take some care for longevity. I had some driver issues out of box and i also have the annoying bug that wifi will disconnect when sleeping... But over all this is the best laptop I've ever owned!

TL:DR - The sound, the display, the form factor, the build quality, the styling, the battery life, basically everything except the performance is TOP NOTCH. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this laptop!!! It’s so good! I can’t recommend it enough! —- Now when I say “everything but the performance” I don’t mean it’s bad, it’s just I wish it was more than what it is. To elaborate, it’s only (and I’ll throw only in quotes “only”) 105 Watts and when I game, it steems to hit 90-95 consistently. I’ve seen it go to 100 but it rarely stays there. This is even with a laptop stand providing additional clearance from the table top surface. What does that mean for performance, well I’d get around 60 FPS at 1600p in Star Wars: Jedi Survivor on custom graphic settings with ray tracing off. If I wanted to use High preset, I’d get 50s, and if I used medium, I’d get above 60. But lowering shadow details to medium and a couple others, 60 without issue. I could have used Frame Generation, but with that game in particular, it had hitches that bothered me, but I was in the 80s-90s with that setting on. All that means for me is I can’t just simply throw it on Ultra graphic settings and move on. I kind of have to think about it for some games and tweak the graphics settings. For the most part though, I can just throw it to High (instead of Ultra) and be good. Star Field with it’s weird resolution scaling when set to Ultra, works fine! I didn’t have to tweak that at all. XDefiant and any real eSports style game also had no issues with Ultra. Long story short in performance, it does play games and a lot of them at High and Ultra, but some games you may have to drop the resolution like RTS or some city builders if you have a lot going on on the screen. Speaking of dropping the resolution… no obvious degradation. I think this may be because it’s OLED, but it could be also related to the resolution being 16:10. Not sure there, but other laptops going outside native resolution, there’s like an increased level of softness that I didn’t notice here. I want to talk about the display some more! It’s so beautiful! I left the screen on for like three hours without realizing it, and it didn’t sleep because Steam kept it on. I immediately panicked and thought I burned in the screen! I looked it over on various full screen colors; from red, gray, green and yellow. No burn in, in sight! So to me that means it has some sort image retention mitigation going. Which is nice for a laptop. The colors, the speed and refresh rate, the brightness are all top notch. I do have an issue where the image gets really grainy at lower brightness levels, but my wife couldn’t see it. So maybe that’s just me. I also want to gush about the sound and the speakers. Most laptop speakers are just bad in my opinion, minus a very small few of them. Asus I think may rival or beat all of them especially with Dolby Atmos enabled. Seriously in XDefiant, I got some spatial awareness with it on. It wasn’t mind blowing like some sound bars, but it was good! I didn’t feel like I was at a disadvantage using them. Sure headsets would be better, but no not bad at all! I also loved music and shows coming out of this device. When watching shows, the fans are darn near silent and the sound really shines. During gaming the fans are there, but I don’t think they’re out of control loud! The build quality is fantastic, the styling is what I like the most! I don’t feel weird bringing this to work, coffee shops, or busting it out on the train when I don’t want to drive to work. It belongs to a mature gamer! The slash lighting is a bit out of control out of the box. I threw mine on static and left it there. It turns off on battery, and that’s all I need. I do wish the slash lighting indicated the battery life some times. Not sure if I missed that setting somewhere, but feels like a missed opportunity. Some other additions were the new CoPilot button on the keyboard, it didn’t do much for me other than open CoPilot. I did toy around with paint a bit and edited some photos in MS photos, but I didn’t think the inclusion of “AI” in the Ryzen processor did much as of right now. Paint added me to a waitlist, photos seems like it did everything a non-AI processor would do, and there was a quick button to throw it online for additional editing which doesn’t do anything for a local NPU/AI processor. And I seriously considered removing a star from my review because it DOESN’T HAVE A PRINT SCREEN BUTTON!!!!!!!! Seriously why? I get it has a screen capture button, but for those that use Snagit, or any other screen capture software that isn’t Microsoft, is gonna be let down here. I jest of course, but that annoyed me! I just changed my bindings to Cntl + Shift + C. Overall, good sound, decent performance, amazing screen, amazing battery, etc. It really is the whole package for Windows laptops, let alone gaming laptop! I’m super happy with it, and I imagine you will be too!

*the askterisk being price* Overall this is probably one of the best laptops you can buy, let alone in existence, more akin to macbook than gaming laptops of lore. Lets start from the top, powering this lovely laser engraved frame of this absolutely ridiculously thin laptop is the new AMD HX 370 AI Processor, which for starters in optimus mode can last upto 12 hours of straight usage, (use g-helper, armoury crate isn't great for battery life) this would give my M2 Macbook Air a run for the money on battery life. When you're not scurrying from power port to power port at the business factory getting tasks done from product owners, you're getting this because you want to game, and game you will. Plays Forza Horizon 5 at native res 60-90fps, it runs helldivers at 60fps. This is ultimately the factor, for the money that they're charging for this laptop you can get a FAR more powerful gaming laptop, however the rest of the laptop package will not be as well made. This laptop has one of the best keyboards of any laptop, the trackpad is near macbook levels, the screen would give my LG C3 OLED a run for the money, but it's hampered by the RTX 4070. If they could offer a RTX 4080 without increasing the price this would be the perfect laptop and an easy 5 star, but considering they're charging premium pricing for a mid tier gaming laptop performance, it gets a respectable 4/5 stars.

I am from tech industry who like to every possible task on the personal laptop and dont want to do any personal tasks on high speced professional machine. This laptop is great for my needs, especially students with programming needs with 32 gb ram + ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor (who names these things in amd!?!) and also have fun with decent gaming with 240 hz oled display + rtx 4070 Nvidia graphics . Amazing sound quality, 2nd best after macbook pros so kudos to Asus for great packaging! At price this may be perfect fit and surprisingly light weight to carry, can also fit into most 13 inch laptop backpack.Given you like white keyboard with gamer fonts and rog asthetics with slash light on front you will enjoy better than expected pro level of performance for even content creation, graphics design with latest windows and drivers update. The only shortcomings, small one!!, I see are non upgradable ram module and relativeluly shorter battery life, but those can be manageable with your budget and competitive price points this machine have, I suggest to look for periodic discount available on best buy and you wont need more than 32 gb ram and decent 5-6 hours battery life unless you have special use cases to want more than this!

Great computer for gaming! The screen looks amazing and the colors are so rich. It does heat up quite a bit, but I combatted this by putting it on a stand to allow for better ventilation. Fan is also very quite and the speakers sounds loud and clear. Great computer for general gaming and have had no issues with graphics lagging or anything.

The laptop gets super hot to the point it burns to touch when gaming, which is quite concerning. This excessive heat can affect the device's performance and potentially cause long-term damage. It might be beneficial to invest in a cooling pad or ensure that the laptop's ventilation is not blocked during intense gaming sessions. On the positive side, the power is impressive, and it operates smoothly and quickly. The fast processing speed makes multitasking and running demanding applications a breeze. Despite the overheating issue, its overall performance is commendable for tasks beyond gaming.

As a developer using azure and .net - typically visual studio and vscode I am very happy. All the tooling, inccluding photoshop, runs very smoothly. It can run a little warm, so investing in a cooling pad is a good idea. I used it recently on a nyc to lax 5.5 hours flight with no battery issues..

I bought this to replace the Zephyrus G16 4090 edition that I found ran to hot as a desktop replacement and ran too short on battery when under heavy workloads. So far this laptop has given me more battery life under 3d and video workloads when on the go. Got a solid 3+ hours using Blender and 4-6+ hours doing Google slides work and little Photoshop retouching before the battery alert came on. The 4070 gpu was quite a downgrade from the 4090, but under short heavy loads it got the job done, Blender and Photoshop was smooth when plugged and under battery + the it lasted 2-4 hours longer than the Intel/4090 version depending on what you're doing, Highly recommend it for medium portable and desktop replacement uses. The only caveat I see is the fan noise when under high workloads and the heat. Its louder and runs hotter than the Intel/4090 version when exporting video, rendering 3d, or AAA gaming, But somehow lasts longer, especially when using the igpu. 6-8 hours under medium workloads, Longer when casual browsing or video.

I'm a 3d engineer modeler rigger for VR and have been in this career for over 20 years. My job provides me with a AW R18 with a 4090 card. I chose this as my personal device for travel because I'm a petite woman and cant bear the burden of carrying that behemoth. I work on Blender and Substance and play Destiny and Hogwarts on this incredibly beautiful machine. The design is haute coture in comparison to my work machine that is neither aluminum or Oled. I have yet to notice a performance difference using this device although I went for the 32g 4070. After years of owning so many laptops deskstops and devices I'm a believer that these iterations are more electronic waste and consumer materialism than actual quantifiable upgrades in performance. Granted several reviews show a difference in performance but in my day to day use I have not noticed any. On sale this is the best device you can get for your money. Gorgeous powerhouse for all my 3d, video and gaming in one.

Absolutely blown away, battery life is amazing! For reference I bought a Lenovo Legion Pro 5i a few weeks back, and this is MUCH much better than the Lenovo. Everything from the screen, the speakers, and the performance is such a noticeable improvement on the G16. Will definitely be keeping this one and returning the Legion! So far so good!

This is actually a really nice laptop. The Ryzen chip is efficient. I already knew the RAM was soldered on so I didn't mind. Make sure you get the RAM you think you'll need. Display is beautiful! Speakers are really amazing. The only reason I returned this was because of the 8GB of VRAM. I ended up getting the Intel G16 with a 4080 because of the higher VRAM. The top part gets hot but you won't be touching that area.

I’m very satisfied with how lightweight it is. Love that I can get work done in the morning and game in the evening during business trips. However, when running games, the temperature occasionally exceeds 90°C, so I had to purchase an external cooling fan and keyboard. For that reason, I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5.

This is my third Zephyrus, with two prior G14’s. These are great work and gaming computers. On battery and with the right settings, you can get 6-8 hours of normal computer work done with a package under 5 lbs. I’ve been coding more and doing some work that requires looking at images lately, so I opted for the larger 16”. I did have to size up on a laptop bag, but the G16 is still a comfortable daily carry. I have the option to bring a lighter, lower power USB-C charger for day-to-day work, but for extended travel you have to bring a full powered charger to keep the laptop running while gaming.

I got the 2023 g16 and only 2 weeks later this one released so of course I returned the other and got this, I have been working on video editing along with some gaming here and there. This laptop has amazing rendering power for videos, roughly 10-20% faster than I was gettung before. The OLED screen is great, very vibrant and colorful. This is like the lightest laptop I've had especially one with such great specs. The double ram and storage from the last year model, and brand new AMD processor, this is just the best available for anyone who needs a work laptop.

Overall I am pleased with this laptop and enjoy using it for some fairly basic gaming (e.g., BG3, Civ VI/VII). My favorite feature is the screen - it actually manages to make Windows look decent and game gorgeous. I do have an annoying, recurring issue where a component of the sound system (amplifier, if memory serves) will stop working. That prevents the pretty decent speaker array from working, and I get very tinny, low volume sound from what I surmise is a basic speaker on the motherboard. I have to go into Device Manager and disable/enable the device to get sound restored. I am hoping this is resolved in a future driver update, and I need to get around to opening a support ticket with Asus.

Out of the recent laptops I've tried to purchase this was probably my favorite one. I tried it for a week but i returned it because i forgot to use my giftcard i had. I didn't rebuy it (even though i felt like i should have) but i've tried the Lenovo legion pro 7i and the Asus ProArt laptops and the G16 was probably the better of the three. Much cooler/quiter than the legion and the nice 16 inch screen with a good refresh rate not only helps when gaming but also when scrolling through code, something that really bothers me about the Asus Proart. It doesn't get overly hot like the intel laptops in general and is quieter and for me this was the highlight of the G16. My biggest con with this is the price tag vs the specs. its a $2400 after tax laptop and you only get a 4070 and 32 bg of ram (not upgradable) so its a tough sell but if you are a prosumer that needs something for productivity like coding and a bit of gaming, This is it.

The machine is great, performance is superb. The OLED is beautiful. Wifi is very sub-par on this machine it loses connection all the time, and take 20-30 seconds to reconnect constantly. It seems highly susceptible to network congestion. Swapping out the Wifi for a Qualcomm one vastly improved the overall experience.
