The perfect mix of professional and gaming. The laptop is super thin while also thick enough to provide good cooling. It’s fairly light, around the same weight as a 16 inch MacBook Pro. And the OLED screen looks amazing.

This is a great laptop. Easily the most powerful I have ever used. There might be a small thing or two I would change, but overall, it is just a wonderful machine. Design-wise, I think most will be pleased. Simple, clean, with just the right amount of RGB and other touches. It is a gaming laptop, and maybe some would want some more of that, but, personally, I would prefer just all-blacked out. Obviously, this is a personal thing, but generally, it looks “good.” As for build? I am very impressed. It is a bit of a beast, but frankly, it is lighter than I expected, and even thinner. All in all, a good weight, while still feeling well-built, and balanced. The screen, for my money one of the reasons to buy this, is beautiful. OLED, big, small bezels, and it just looks fantastic. Fast refresh, everything runs smoothly, bright colors, vivid, seemingly quite accurate, and the blacks. Those blacks are inky. You spend all of your time looking at it, it should be good. No worries here. Performance-wise, I don’t think I could “really” be happier. It largely comes with top tier hardware, and it all does well. Clearly, some of this will be game and settings dependent, but running near or at maxed out (more on that later) levels, my FPS numbers were (coming from someone on an “aged” desktop) somewhat crazy (in the good way) to me. No stuttering, tearing, anything really, and everything has been very, very smooth. Beyond that, video and picture work, which I do a fair amount of, has also been a good experience. Lastly, as you might expect, normal “life things,” like e-mail, browsing, and office work has been perfect. As a whole, I am very happy here, however, given everything, I am just not sure I understand the decision to go with 16GB of RAM. I get it is standard, sort of, which I suppose I could overlook, but you can’t upgrade it down the road, which makes the 16GB decision that much worse. Give 32GB or give the option to upgrade. I think they missed here. Across the board, though, they did most things right. Connectivity, while mostly standard, does come with a nice selection that is easy to access and thought out. The sound/speakers are quite good. Really. I was a little surprised. The SSD is quick, which is welcome, and although it is the (sadly) standard 1TB that is the thing today, you can at least add more here. So, credit them for that choice. The keyboard is mostly good. I like the spacing, it is solid with no real flex, and has a nice feel. I don’t love the font, but that is a me thing, and my love of plain takes a hit here. RGB, not really my thing, but they give you some control (although not as much as some may want, no individual keys), and if I am being honest, it does look pretty nice. The trackpad is massive, which I absolutely love, and it does “well.” Not Apple good, but I don’t think anyone will really have any complaints. Beyond all of that, they seemed to hit the mark on battery-life. At or slightly better than rated so far, but life is very dependent on what you are doing. As expected. I also appreciate that the charging brick is a reasonable size. The webcam is about what you would expect, although definitely an improvement over previous models. Not cinema quality, but it will work. The fans? Well they work. They are always kind of there, but you don’t really notice them. Of course, when you are pushing the machine they do ramp up quite a bit, but they are still fairly quiet. Ultimately, I like this laptop, and I think it is fairly easy to recommend to those looking in this class. It is spec’d well, works well, and looks good. There are few areas that could be improved, but they don’t really hold it back, and it’s still a great machine and I think most would be pleased.

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is a powerhouse beast in the present gaming world. I've been blown away with the 2024 edition that I recently got my hands on. This laptop is an absolute beast, with its lightning-fast Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor and gorgeous 16-inch OLED display. The screen is amazing and beautiful the 16-inch OLED screen is immersive The 240Hz refresh rate guarantees buttery-smooth gameplay while colors are vivid and blacks are deep. The display always impresses me, whether I'm playing across large open worlds or getting into fierce firefights and the internal speakers are loud enough to fill the room. Outstanding performance is delivered by the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H CPU under the hood. With the non upgradable 16gigs of soldered DDR5 RAM, the most demanding games run smoothly without any lag and multitasking is a breeze. The GeForce RTX 4070 Nvidia graphics card produces breathtaking images and fluid framerates on even the most demanding games. I got lot of storage with the included 1TB SSD to accommodate all of my precious media files, games, and apps. The Eclipse Gray design lends a sense of refinement to the laptop's overall appearance, and load times are almost nonexistent. I was surprised to see the laptop's tiny and light weight in spite of its potent internals. Without compromising cooling or performance, ASUS has done a fantastic job of maintaining the small profile. In relation to cooling, the ASUS cooling system ensures that the laptop remains remarkably cool most of the time even during prolonged gaming sessions. With its sensitive keys and awesome lighting that can be customized, the keyboard is a pleasure to type on. Although I still prefer using a dedicated gaming mouse, the trackpad is very large and very responsive likewise precise and seamless. For a gaming laptop with this specs, the battery life is respectable. Considering the things it can do i can obtain about 5–6 hours of mixed use easily which is decent. The laptop contains every port I could possibly require. Whether I'm gaming at home or on the move, USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, SD Card reader and a headphone jack take care of all my connectivity demands. After considered everything I came across this ASUS Zephyrus G16 is without a doubt among the best gaming laptops I have ever used. It’s a nice package that's sure to please any gamer or professionals or students combining excellent performance with beautiful graphics, and clever design. The ROG Zephyrus G16 is the one and only laptop in current market you need if you're looking for a powerful gaming beast that can handle anything and everything whatever you throw at it. Extremely advisable!

While the Asus Zephyrus G16 software had a few install hiccups. The hardware Asus has used shines in a very thin and well built, almost light, laptop that most who are fortunate enough to buy one, will likely be happy and proud to own. With modest settings battery life is 6+ hours, maybe a bit more if you stick to integrated GPU and turn all the Eco settings to max. Sadly they soldered all the memory (RAM) to the board and left the only user upgrade to be a second SSD (hard drive storage). You also have all the colors of the rainbow for your keyboard, but all the keys will have to be that same color, no individual key color. The big sell will be the OLED screen reported to be sourced from Samsung. You also get 3 months Microsoft Game Pass to try the gaming prowess if you don't already have other gaming sites. A bit more info on my first week so far using the G16. Nice unboxing, well packed for shipping. Sadly, no ROG logo stickers. Once powered and charging the setup went smooth like most new Windows setups (Windows Home, not Pro). I started to try out a few games and programs and things seemed to be looking and working well. But when I went into Armoury Crate (Asus gaming system control center) to view and maybe tweak a few settings. I noticed that the RTX GPU was not running at all. I was able to see it was running under Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL). The tweaks were working, but ultimately I was forced to uninstall the Armoury Crate app and reinstalled from Asus website to get it to start working, and all seems good now. Besides a few other odd apps needing some tweaking and updates. My G16 laptop is working to my specs. Games like Cyberpunk 2077 work great, look really good on OLED and I also did a brief mess around with Adobe apps that work well too. Not sure quite how to push the new Ultra CPU to see what it can do, but it is easily able to do yesterdays software. With all the videos I saw from the CES coverage that got me here. Couple items I was not aware of till I actually got my own G16. I was excited to play with the Slash Lighting, which turned out to be a bit of a gimmick with 5 options you don't see while using. Maybe there will be more options soon. Some will find a use for it as a notification light. Then there is the new power supply connector that looks like a fat USB-C cable and is a nice upgrade. Although with the reduced max power level, wouldn't USB-C be able to deliver enough power? Anyhow, while Ultra Core 9 and RTX 4070 is all or even more than most need. I think 16GB of ram is the bare minimum for a 2024 PC at this level of capability. I would HIGHLY suggest any buyers consider a G16 that has 32GB before settling on the configurations that are only 16GB. There is no upgrade and you may need more ram a few years from now. And there is also no RJ45 port for wired internet. Overall, Asus offers so many options to game or be productive with budget laptops all the way to a second mortgage to afford buying. This Zephyrus G16 might be their best built machine to date. Unbelievably thin aluminum frame. Solid keyboard and ultra wide touchpad. Fan noise is very low and quite till Turbo mode is on. BTW, heat exhaust is downward across the entire back edge under the screen and might prevent actual bed/lap use unless you sit cross legged? Atmos speakers sound fantastic in game or with music. And OLED gaming is even better eye candy if you don't have too many reflections where you game or use a PC. Sure, there is a little wiggle in the screen and might be a little niggle for some. And at launch this is a bit pricey, but discounts always happen. Yet, see it for yourself. Go into Best Buy, touch it, listen to it, and stare at the large OLED. Then plop your card on the counter at get one.

Hello and thank you for reading my review. I will be looking at this laptop from a casual user standpoint, I won’t necessarily be going over super technical stuff since there are many websites and YT channels that can come up with more accurate benchmarks than I do. Here is my TL; DR ****Pros -Beautiful OLED screen, running at about 2k resolution -Screen can refresh up to 240hz for optimal fps gaming -one of the most recent mid-to-high GPUs at the time this review was written -Premium aluminum shell with minimal lighting (Depending on taste could be a deal breaker) -Contains one of the newer and powerful intel Ultra i9 CPUs (185H) -Very slim and light compared to bulkier Gaming laptops -Crispy and clear sounding speakers compatible with Dolby Atmos -Surprisingly good sounding microphone (tested through discord) -HDMI2.1, Thunderbolt 4, 2 USB-A 3.2, 2 Type C 3.2 ****Cons -Soldered RAM -1TB of Nvme Storage (will fill up fast especially with Warzone or editing ) -Even though speakers sound amazing can be a little quiet also takes up a good amount of space by the keyboard ****Tradeoffs (Gaming Laptop Things) -Smaller size = Battery will not last long -Big Speakers gets you a ~65% keyboard layout (no number pad) -Minimalist design meaning you do not get the cool colors all over the bezel other than in the keyboard -LPDDR5 RAM is soldered, meaning no upgrading RAM in the future (I know for a lot of people it is a make it or break it thing specially for the premium price tag) -Battery is not the greatest but it is one of those things with gaming laptops. -Proprietary charger Alright now for the actual review. Let me start by saying I cannot get enough of that OLED screen. Everything looks so good even on the lowest brightness and on 1080p. If you get a little fancy and switch it to 240hz it just looks amazing. Anyways, the bezel its minimalistic nothing to crazy that screams gaming laptop. I know many people love their RGB but unfortunately not in this laptop other than in the keyboard. The only lighting built in is a diagonal line of white LEDs (no colors) that you can customize through software. The shell is built out of aluminum which I personally prefer. On the sides you get your ports which include an HDMI 2.1, Thunderbolt 4, 2 USB-A 3.2, and 2 Type C 3.2. Whenever you open the laptop, you are greeted with a 65ish percent keyboard layout, with two grills on the sides which house the speakers and the mic. As I mentioned earlier the keyboard does have RGB and can be customized through software. The keys are also very quiet and feel as if they are red switches. With the screen you get a 2.5k resolution OLED 240hz display that can go up to 500 nits. I will have to be honest if you consume most of your entertainment through your laptop, you will not be disappointed. Anyways moving on to the CPU and the GPU. Inside you get an intel Ultra i9 185H which is a pretty new model. It is a “mobile” processor but still it is beefy and will get anything you throw at it done. GPU wise you get a 4070-laptop version, which is the lates and greatest from NVIDIA until something else gets announced. NOTE as I mentioned in the description If you want full specs and benchmarks, I recommend looking up the official website or YouTube channels that come up with better results than I do. With that in mind, let’s move on to the battery. On the specs it shows that you can get up to 10hrs of battery from a full charge but let’s be real it is a gaming laptop, and one cannot expect the greatest battery life. From the several tests I did, I would say max the battery would last me around 7 hours with Silent mode, Eco mode, RGB off, and screen brightness on low. I mostly did some browsing and watched a video here and there. If I put on a show or a movie I would get around 5 hours with a full charge so if the time comes when you have movie date, this computer will have you covered. Lastly, if I put the computer on performance mode and set the refresh rate to 240hz I would get about 1hr of battery life so… make that as you will. One thing I will note is that if this is your first time buying a gaming laptop, one does not get it for the battery life, one mostly buys one of these for the portability of a powerful graphics card and CPU. Now on to the RAM. Low power RAM will consume less power as stated, sure, but it comes at a cost and modularity has been a big part of gaming computers. IF you plan to keep this laptop for years, and plan to upgrade your RAM I would not recommend it. Other than that, the RAM is crazy fast and snappy. On the spec sheet it is stated to go up to 6400Mhz, but honestly on performance mode I have seen it go higher than that. To conclude let me go over a few things. Storage you get a Gen 4 SSD Nvme with 1TB of space. It might sound like a lot, but it will fill up quick especially if you plan to do editing or download large games like apex or warzone. ASUS Armory Crate is also really good software where you can conveniently customize everything like lighting, power modes, display presets, and more. Also, this laptop is not too big or chunky so you can carry it in a midsize backpack or bag with no issues. Other than that, if you feel like some of the things, I explained are a deal breaker I completely understand and will leave it up to you to decide. For me personally the thing that got me hooked was the screen, it just looks too good, but the LP RAM just does not do it for me which is the reason I gave it a 4/5.

Coming to the GPU it’s very powerful, next coming to the CPU it require more performance boost the reason would be the Intel Core Ultra series processors it wasn’t giving the efficiency that other processors would give in general. NFS Heat was very choppy IDK why. Need to improve.

The Best Gaming Laptop I Have Ever Used

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is an incredible laptop that is capable of running the most demanding titles at the upper limits of quality and performance. While housed in a sleek, slim, and infinitely portable chassis, the G16 also somehow manages to be a gaming powerhouse that does not compromise on speed, graphics, and stunning visuals with every test I threw at it. When unboxing the ROG Zephyrus, you’re treated to some of the most thoughtful and well-placed packaging I can recall from any tech product I’ve ever purchased. One of the first things that struck me as I removed the box containing the PC, was just how light it was. I’ve played a number of gaming laptops, and they tend to be large, bulky, and generally cumbersome to use on a daily basis. Once you remove the G16 from its box, it becomes evident that this laptop is not like the behemoths I've used in the past. At just over half an inch thick and weighing barely over 4 pounds, this is by far the lightest and most portable gaming laptop I have ever used, considering its 16" screen size. I appreciate that the majority of this computer is a sleek, dark grey aluminum, which feels premium and far nicer than the plastic builds of many comparable products. The only downside to this finish is that it is a slight fingerprint magnet, but wiping it down with a cloth does help to keep this problem to a minimum. Even though the G16 itself is slim and light, the charger included is a pretty big piece of tech that you will need to take with you if plan on gaming (more on this later). I don’t mind the heft of the charger, but it feels as if it weighs almost as much as the PC itself. Then again, with the kind of performance this PC offers, I understand that it needs a good power supply to run at full speed. The power cable connection appears to be a proprietary type plug, at least if it is a standard type I’m not exactly sure what it is. Ports on the Zephyrus include standard USB and USB type-C, as well as a headphone jack, HDMI, and an SD card reader port. This laptop has an exceptional set of speakers that actually sound good, a nice backlit keyboard, a huge glass trackpad, and a set of easily accessible hotkeys that can be programmed for different functions. The 16” OLED screen on the Zephyrus is phenomenal, with a 240 Hz refresh rate that ensured all of the videos and games I played looked smooth and stunning. I truly don’t have anything but praise for this screen, it just looks that good when playing some demanding games or high-def videos. Inside the heart of this machine are some great pieces of hardware, which include: - Intel Core Ultra 9 Series 1 Processor - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Graphics - 16 Gigs of RAM - 1 TB SSD - And that gorgeous 16” OLED screen with 2560 x 1600 resolution Now I would like to cover some of the games I tested on the ROG Zephyrus. Fallout 4: This older (2015) game ran flawlessly on Ultra settings, which I totally expected with these kind of specs. Load times were incredibly fast, and the framerate was high the entire time I played. For this title, the cooling system did run some, but was not always at full blast like some of the other titles. Starfield: While running on the same engine as Fallout 4, this newer title looked STUNNING on the Zephyrus. I had the preset on "High," and that seemed like the sweet spot, maximizing both graphics and framerate at that perfect level where everything looked crisp, smooth, and beautiful. I did run it on "Ultra," and it ran just fine, but I do believe that the framerate did suffer just slightly on this setting. Placing it back on "High" looked so incredible I had no problem enjoying it in that mode. In this game, the cooling fans did run pretty much the entire time I played. Cyberpunk 2077: Another newer title that ran flawlessly on the G16. I was able to run Cyberpunk in “Ray Tracing – Ultra” mode with no issues whatsoever. Honestly, this one left me a little bit blown away. In my experience, Ray Tracing in ANY mode is hard to accomplish for most systems, and here the Zephyrus was, running it in “Ultra” with no hints of lag, or stuttering framerates. This was THE BEST I have ever seen Cyberpunk 2077 look, on any system, and this is a game I’ve sunk about 350+ hours into. Yes, the cooling fans did run the whole time, but I’m still just amazed at how well this PC played such a graphically intense title. Forza Horizon 5: This game auto-detected my hardware and set the graphics to "Extreme." Wow. This is another title that just made my jaw drop on this PC. Perhaps it's a combination of the Auto-HDR that engages with compatible titles (all of these were), the refresh rate, the OLED screen, the high resolution, or just the specs of the hardware…whatever the case may be, I've never seen this game look so stunning. Just beautiful graphics, with such smooth performance that never hiccupped or lost that high framerate. Overall, I was blown away by how incredibly well this PC ran the games that I tested. Here are some notes I took during this time: - To get the best performance, the G16 MUST be plugged into power. I tried gaming on battery power, and performance did suffer. - That being said, the cooling system is so efficient, that the laptop rarely got any hotter than “warm” in my lap, and was never uncomfortable during testing. - The fans are loud, but if you’ve got the volume up, or are using headphones, it’s not that bad, just some background noise. Battery life on this laptop is okay, but I wouldn’t say it’s exceptional. I got around 5-6 hours on a charge, and spent all of my game time plugged in. There is some cool exterior "slash" lighting that you can customize, and you can turn it off when on battery power to conserve energy. ASUS offers many ways to customize this laptop in the settings and included programs, and it seems there is an almost endless array of options to make it your own. At the end of the day, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 laptop is the best gaming laptop I've ever used. Not only is it portable and relatively lightweight, but it's also a true heavyweight when it comes to playing some of the most demanding titles on the market. It managed to stun me numerous times with some of the most spectacular visuals and jaw-dropping performance I've ever witnessed. Combine this with the fact that it's simply the sleekest 16" computer I've ever seen, and the Zephyrus G16 has become THE gaming laptop to beat, hands down.

Use Case: Audio/Video Production 1. The Zephyrus has a high pitched fan that is very loud. This makes the production of live voice and instruments unacceptable due to noise levels. 2. Windows 11 is incompatible with Adobe Premiere Elements. So, you have to buy a new version of Elements or downgrade to Windows 10. 3. The power supply plug design is fragile. One bump up or down and you will break the input plug or cause it to short. 4. Asus Armory Crate Software that is loaded by default causes erratic behavior. This is bloatware and severely impacts performance and lag. Audio/Video production requires constant bit rate and clocking to produce good recordings. 5. The touchpad is too big, you have to reach over this large keypad to reach the keyboard. Poor ergonomics. (Yes, I have an external keyboard and mouse but, a laptop should have good stand alone ergonomics.) Support: I paid for Bestbuy Service. Use Case: Online Chat cannot answer simple technical questions. They are ok for account related issues and taking orders. I paid for tech support and they advised me to take my laptop in for repairs (1 hour drive each way) Repair: I loaded Premiere Elements 10 which cause a reboot to hang at the splash screen. Elements 10 is not compatible with Windows 11 as stated. However, chat could even advise a Windows reload (while retaining my data files). Asus Support is no existent. I was online in a call for 2 hours. No answer. In short, avoid this Laptop if you are a video/audio producer. Avoid paying for Bestbuy support if you live an hour away. Do no count on Bestbuy chat to provide tech support. They do not have the capability. I will be returning the laptop today and replacing with an MSI or Lenovo desktop.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend
