Beast of a laptop but gets excessively hot . Gaming is literally impossible without cooling pads . Just regular browsing on lap will feel burning. Fan noise are extremely high on performance and turbo mode but ok ok in silent mode . Display, keyboard, battery backup , hand feel and portability is top notch.

Picked it up on sale. The screen is just absolutely amazing, the main highlight I must say. Preety solid build metal chasis. Battery is amazing with 8+hours of normal use. The ultra 9 chipset and 4070 can handle anything you throw at it easily. The spearkers are crazy good , I don't think I've heard the sound quality of any other laptop come even close to this one. Heating also isn't a big issue like it dosent get unbearablely hot. Just elevate the laptop or stick a cooling fan underneath and you'll see much better results. Hands down best premium portal gaming laptop imo. If ur always on the go and game or do power hungry tasks like video editing or content creation, this is a solid option.

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is phenomenal! From performance to looks the G16 has it all. Compared to previous years the packaging is much more basic but unboxing something is just a one-time experience and I'm glad to see that everything else about the G16 just screams AMAZING. The 16-inch OLED screen is just plain gorgeous to look at, whether you are watching a video, working and especially gaming at 240 Hz the screen never let me down. The speakers on the G16 are as equally as amazing even at half of the speaker volume it's still plenty to keep you locked into whatever you are doing, the sound is full and didn't leave me wanting for more. The RGB keyboard (only one color at a time) are nice to type on and doesn't feel mushy and the trackpad is enormous which makes it easy to move the cursor around while on the go. The G16 also features USB-C Charging which is great for charging your laptop on the go although you may not get full performance unless you use the included AC charger which is also reversable. Between the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H and Nvidia 4070 this model of the G16 has great performance when gaming and great battery life while not gaming. The ram is soldered to the motherboard, but you can upgrade the NVME SSD. Overall, you will not be disappointed with the 2024 Zephyrus G16 it is an amazing laptop that's great in every aspect.

Super-fast, but install G-Helper to keep it cool

As many others have said, this computer gets smoking hot right out of the box; however, if you consider the kind of performance that is packed into a 4.1lb, 0.59" thick computer, it makes sense! If you want to play AAA games on your bare lap, try a different laptop. This one isn't for you. But if you can prop it up on a desk and give it extra ventilation, there's nothing with these dimensions that matches the performance, other than the higher-end Zephyrus versions.
Pros: Very slim and portable. 4070 + Core Ultra 9 = very fast. Any game at max settings, 60+ FPS. Many games >100 fps. Beautiful screen. Speakers are some of the best I've ever heard on a laptop.
Cons: Gets frikkin hot! Expect 90C+ max temp on newer games if you're using Armory Crate. Also expect 50C+ at idle and 60+% memory usage with Armory Crate. If you install G-helper and disable Armory Crate, the temps and memory usage will drop significantly. G-helper is a game-changer.
Overall: I love this thing. Throw it in a backpack and go. Try that with a 7lb monster gaming laptop. Also, people won't think you're a kid if you bust it out in public. Looks like a regular laptop, except for the slash on the lid, which you can turn off.

I wanted to like this laptop, but that heat was just too much for regular use.
Everything about it was perfect:
1. Beautiful OLED screen that is capable of doing professional color work.
2. A good and comfortable keyboard
3. A large touch pad for regular non-gaming usage.
4. Arguably the best laptop speakers that is not a Mac.
5. Specs to be able to play the latest games.
6. Really good battery life.
7. And all that in a thin and light package that feels premium and sturdy.
But all of that is not going to save how hot this laptop can get. I've used many other Zephyrus laptops, from their G14 and G16 of yesteryear to the M16s, but this year's G16 is just a huge miss.
1. That 16 GB of ram for this price is just terrible. While it does not bother me at all, you can read so many others echo the same sentiment about it.
2. Fan noise/Fan usage. Since ASUS decided to use a small 3rd fan instead of the vapor chamber that the higher GPU models have. That small fan will create a higher pitched sound, to some it is fine, but to others this is incredibly annoying. It would be fine when gaming since I do use headphones, so I don't hear it; but when on light use the fans just do not turn off at all.
3. High Temps. The all-aluminum body is amazing, but it is also really good at absorbing and spreading heat across the entire body. None of the performance profiles in Armory Crate helped, using a laptop riser or a cooling pad doesn't help either, putting in a custom fan curve doesn't not help either. I even did a fresh Windows Install to clean out all unnecessary background processes and even debloated it as much as possible + using G-Helper + custom fan curves + limiting PL1 and PL2 wattages...and it still cannot control the heat this laptop can generate. If only the Core Ultra processors are unlocked so that undervolting can be done, the heat issues could be alleviated even a little bit. But as it stood for me, even with all that and in a cooled room (23C ambient temps) this machine will not go below 60C even on idle; so every use, light or heavy, it feels hot.
Sadly, I had to return the device. Those temps are too much for me as it is just uncomfortable to use.

This Laptop has been a game changer. I down sized from a full size desktop which I used for gaming, online school, and other productivity tasks. I found myself doing homework and work more often than playing games and my setup felt a bit excessive for my needs. I wanted something portable and suitable for productivity but could also handle gaming when I had the itch. This has exceeded my expectations. Its super thin and the chassis feels very premium. The battery life has far surpassed other “Gaming” laptops that I have owned in the past. The OLED panel is beautiful. It can also handle all the games that I played on my desktop at high or even maxed settings. The speaker system is also unexpectedly great. The biggest issue I have with this device is that it does get hot when put under load. That is to be expected though with the size of it and the specs. I countered this issue with a cooling pad that i use when I am gaming.

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is ASUS's 2024 line of gaming laptops that not only looks sharp, but also packs some impressive power.
## Design
One of the first things I noticed with this laptop is how thin and compact it is. With its aluminum chassis, you can almost think of it as the MacBook Pro of gaming laptops.
The left side features a proprietary power jack, full-size HDMI, a Thunderbolt 4 USB-C port, a USB-A 3.2 port, and an audio jack. The right side has an SD card slot, another USB-A 3.2 port, and a USB-C port with Display Port support.
The laptop has a beautiful 16" OLED that is vibrant and ideal for gaming, with a fast 0.2ms response time and 240Hz refresh rate. OLED monitors can switch pixels on and off faster than LCD monitors, resulting in smoother motion and reduced ghosting and blur. OLED monitors are ideal for gaming and video editing, as they can support these high refresh rates.
A cool (but not very functional) feature is the "Slash Lighting array" on the laptop lid. You can customize the LED animations on the slash, but the LEDs are only a white color (no RGB). Unfortunately, the LEDs face away from you while using the laptop, but others get to enjoy (or be distracted by) them.
The keyboard itself is RGB backlit and comfortable to type in. In addition to the dedicated volume buttons, I like that there is a dedicated mic mute button above the function keys.
## Performance
This particular configuration of the ASUS laptop features an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor, 16GB of RAM, and for the GPU, this ASUS ROG laptop has an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card.
The U94070 is the lowest-end model in ASUS' ROG Zephyrus G14 lineup of gaming laptops for 2024. While it definitely holds its own in terms of performance, the higher-end models -- U94080 and U94090 -- have higher-spec NVIDIA GeForce RTX cards (4080 and 4090, respectively). The U94080 and U94090 also have a max RAM capacity of 32GB, compared to a max RAM capacity of 16GB in the U94070. The U94090 also has more storage at 2TB compared to 1TB in the U94070 and U94080. The U94080 and U94090 also have better cooling with a custom vapor chamber using dual fans, whereas the U94070 uses a 3-fan system with no vapor chamber.
However, the U94070, U94080, and U94090 have the same Intel processor, OLED display, ports, keyboard, camera, Wi-Fi (6E), battery, and speakers.
Intel’s Core Ultra 9 Series 1 (Meteor Lake) processors are new for 2024 and provide a nice bump up in computing power for laptops. Intel states that some of the notable features of these processors are the enhanced AI capabilities, enabling more intuitive and responsive user experiences. They also continue to make advances in energy efficiency, meaning these processors are designed to optimize battery life without compromising performance. In essence, the Core Ultra 9 Series 1 processors are about smarter computing, better graphics, and longer usage times, making them a solid choice for modern laptop users looking for a balance of power and efficiency.
The NVIDIA GeForce is a mid-range GPU in the RTX 40 series, striking a balance between gaming performance and price. It has 12GB of GDDR6X VRAM. For some background, these are the latest and most powerful graphics cards from NVIDIA, based on the Ada Lovelace architecture. They feature new technologies like DLSS 3 Frame Generation, which can boost performance by up to 2.5 times in some games, and RTX 3.5 Ray Reconstruction, which can enhance the realism of ray tracing (lighting and reflection) effects.
The laptop features 16GB of RAM, which provides ample room for Windows 11. Unfortunately, 16GB is the maximum that this laptop supports. Many would consider 4GB to be the bare minimum for Windows 11, with many recommending 8GB to run Windows 11 comfortably for multitasking. As always, the more memory you have, the more efficiently Windows 11 can run, so 16GB is ample enough for gaming, although 32GB would have been more beneficial for a gaming laptop.
I tested this laptop out with a couple of rounds of Fortnite as the new season (Chapter 5, Season 2) started shortly after receiving this laptop. The game performed very well, reaching an average FPS between 65 and 75. The graphics are sharp and colorful, with animations that are buttery smooth on the OLED display. I let the game auto-set the graphic settings and it selected "High" and "Epic" for most of them. Fan noise can be a bit of an issue as they do get loud while playing games, but wearing headphones negated that issue.
- The Cinebench multi-core score came in at 15,904 points.
- The Cinebench single-core score came in at 1,826 points.
ASUS’ included "MyASUS" application gives you the option to limit battery charging to 80%, which is a nice feature for those who plan to keep the laptop plugged in a majority of the time. You can also temporarily remove the 80% limit for 24 hours in the MyASUS app for when you occasionally want to use the laptop on battery power and want a full charge before you head out.
## Summary
The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is a compact and powerful gaming laptop featuring a 16" OLED display, Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card. Its design is sleek, resembling the MacBook Pro, and includes a variety of ports for connectivity. Unique features include customizable “Slash Lighting array” LED animations and a comfortable RGB backlit keyboard. The laptop is tailored for gamers and content creators, offering a balance of performance and portability, with a notable emphasis on its vibrant display and responsive gaming experience. However, it’s limited to 16GB of RAM and lacks the advanced cooling system found in higher-end models.

Incredible Performance with Heat Concerns

This laptop is an absolute powerhouse. Whether you're gaming, video editing, or running heavy software, the combination of Ultra 9 and RTX 4070 delivers blistering speeds and exceptional graphical performance. The 16-inch 2560x1600 display with a 240Hz refresh rate offers a crisp, smooth experience, perfect for gamers and content creators alike. The build quality is solid, and it’s surprisingly portable considering the specs, making it easy to take on the go without sacrificing too much weight.
That said, the laptop does struggle with heat management under heavy loads. The fans can get quite loud and the laptop gets noticeably hot during gaming or intensive tasks. While the cooling system does a decent job, the heat can be a bit overwhelming during long sessions. Battery life also falls short during heavy use, offering around 3-4 hours before requiring a recharge. Despite these issues, the Zephyrus G16 is an excellent choice for those who need top-tier performance and are willing to tolerate some heat for that power.

I'm genuinely impressed with the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16. From the moment I unboxed it, I could tell this was a premium machine. The build quality is outstanding — sleek, solid, and surprisingly lightweight for such powerful hardware.
Performance-wise, it handles everything I throw at it — from heavy multitasking and data analysis to gaming and machine learning workloads — all without breaking a sweat. The Intel Core Ultra and RTX graphics combo runs smoothly, and the fans stay quieter than I expected, even under load.
The display is absolutely stunning. Colors are vibrant, blacks are deep, and the 16:10 aspect ratio gives extra vertical space for productivity. The keyboard feels great, and I love the backlighting for working at night.
Battery life is solid for a performance laptop, and the inclusion of multiple ports (including Thunderbolt) makes it incredibly versatile.
If you're a student, creative, developer, or gamer looking for a powerful yet elegant machine — this is it.
Highly recommended!

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is a sleek, high-performance gaming laptop that balances power, portability, and premium features. Here’s a breakdown of its strengths and weaknesses.
Pros
✅ Stunning OLED Display – The 16-inch QHD+ OLED panel with a 240Hz refresh rate delivers vibrant colors, deep blacks, and ultra-smooth gameplay.
✅ Powerful Performance – Equipped with the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H and NVIDIA RTX 4070, this laptop handles demanding games and creative workloads with ease.
✅ Slim & Lightweight – At just 4.08 lbs, it’s one of the most portable gaming laptops in its class.
✅ Advanced Cooling – ASUS’s ROG Intelligent Cooling system, featuring liquid metal and upgraded fans, keeps temperatures in check during intense gaming sessions.
✅ Fast Storage & Memory – The 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD and 16GB LPDDR5X RAM ensure quick load times and smooth multitasking.
Cons
❌ Limited RAM Upgradeability – The LPDDR5X memory is soldered, meaning you can’t upgrade beyond 16GB.
❌ Battery Life Could Be Better – While decent, the 90Wh battery may struggle to last long under heavy gaming loads.
❌ Premium Price Tag – At $1,999, it’s a pricey investment, though justified by its high-end specs.
❌ No Full-Size Keyboard – The compact keyboard layout might not be ideal for users who prefer a numpad

Awesome laptop! I was a bit concerned at the beginning when going to purchase the laptop because of the online reviews that said that the fan noise was high even when doing less intensive tasks. However, after actually purchasing the laptop and using it for about a week or so, I can confirm that updating the bios, windows (after getting it immediately) results in a smooth experience without such problems.
Apart from this, the speakers and display on the laptop are really good. The laptop looks SLEAK and is lightweight. The performance is what you would expect from an RTX 4070 equipped laptop. Just remember to game/do demanding tasks on a flat hard surface, since all the vents (that I could see) were at the bottom. Battery life seems to be good, although I can't comment accurately how much battery life I am getting (Maybe I'll update this comment later after 1-2 months of use).
I would recommend this laptop to anyone who wants quality of life improvements, like an awesome screen and speakers, coupled with the good GPU performance.

The Zephyrus is one of the lightest 16-inch laptops I’ve ever held/used, especially for a gaming laptop – the weight feels closely comparable to the MacBook Pros my coworkers use. The aluminum chassis feels premium and appropriately high-tech for the (high) price; I recall my previous gaming laptop featuring a lot of cheap-feeling plastic. The Zephyrus’ dimensions also seem smaller than most of the heavy-hitter gaming laptops out there – it can fit nicely in a regular laptop sleeve/case without concern for certain edges poking about or weight imbalances. The look is minimalist without being boring, yet it retains a politely ornate vibe IMO. I like that the laptop draws attention if you look closely but also just looks like a normal laptop if you’re not focusing on it. And much like with the Ally, Aura Sync allows you to program the RGB settings to as tame or wild as you’d like, though I keep things standard. Two color schemes for the chassis are offered at the moment: white and grey. With the Ally I complained about a lack of color options, but for a laptop I do prefer a more basic & standard look, so I think those options are fine… though perhaps a black/darker grey could be interesting.

I so much wanted to love this laptop. On paper it was my dream machine. Thin and light, while having all the bells and whistles. I even convinced myself that 16GB is enough even though all my other laptops I owned in the last 3 years had 32GB memory. The thing even has Type-C power delivery ports on both sides.
But since I turned this machine on, I had nothing but regrets. The fans as everyone else is noting are loud, even when not gaming. Simple Office documents open alongside a browser with a few tabs will get the fans humming. Not at the highest level, but enough to annoy me as I am not used to fans humming when I am just doing my office work. The fan humming is coupled with the temps getting very high even when not gaming as well.
Videos running in the browser (YouTube or streaming services) stutter constantly while causing random shrieking sounds to come from the speakers when the stuttering occurs. This happens with both HDR turned on and off.
The entire armory crate software experience was negative for me. Half the functions did not work (the function keys on the keyboard literally work sometimes and sometimes do nothing when pressed). The software itself will freeze randomly when I try to adjust the lights or the fan settings.
I did all the software updates both from Asus and Windows and nothing improved.
A few positives to mention. The keyboard is perfect. So is the touchpad. Plenty of ports. Build quality is premium. It feels lighter than what it should. I have a Samsung 16" Book3 Ultra that weighs a little bit less than this Asus and yet when I carry them one-handed with the screen open the Asus always feels lighter to me. I think it is due to the way the weight is distributed. The Speakers are the best I ever heard on a Windows Laptop. The OLED screen is just beautiful.
In the end, even though it is a gorgeous looking machine with a gorgeous looking OLED screen and killer speakers (when not shrieking) I had to return it. The bad far outweighs the good especially at the price point.

I purchased this laptop to replace my MSI Stealth I had for 5years that the cooling fans and systems eventually wore out.. which will likely be the fate of this one in 3-4 years or less. When gaming or doing anything somewhat intensive task this thing will get hotter than a frying pan.
I contacted ASUS and they did say this is normal because of its all metal chassis and the powerful components.
And boy are they correct there. This is one slick looking and very high end laptop. It feels solid like a piece of NASA tech, has a absolutely beautiful screen and the keyboard is a dream to type on. Its super fast, and so far has handled some semi heavy gaming for hours and I use it for work as well. No problems so far.
Its not flashy, or covered in lights and gamer stuff so you could take it to a business meeting and it would look better than anyone's at the table. It does have a light up large slash on the back of the screen but you can turn it off.
I worry how long this may last due to heat but I'm liking it so far and happy with my purchase. If you want a slim slick laptop you can game on the go with this is it. In retrospect though I would probably have bout a desktop for gaming and less expensive work laptop. I could have probably got both for the same price as this thing. Will see how long it lasts before the heat claims it.
Was happy with service at Best Buy, though wish their return policy was a little longer than 15 days.

I purchased this laptop as an open-box deal for $1,299 (which came to $1,400 after taxes), and it’s in excellent condition. While I don’t think it’s worth the full price, for $1,400, it’s an excellent deal.
Even though I don’t game heavily, the combination of the high-end specs and the OLED display at this price point really sealed the deal for me. The Intel Core Ultra 9 processor and NVIDIA RTX 4070 GPU deliver impressive performance, handling everyday tasks and even some light gaming or video editing with ease.
The OLED QHD display is a standout feature. The colors are vibrant, blacks are deep, and the 240Hz refresh rate makes for an incredibly smooth experience. Whether you're watching movies, editing photos, or just browsing, the screen really shines.
The build quality feels solid, and the laptop is surprisingly light considering its specs. The keyboard is comfortable for typing, and the trackpad is accurate and responsive. Battery life is decent, lasting me through a full workday with moderate use, though more intensive tasks can drain it faster.
The only downside I would mention is that the speakers could be louder and more dynamic, but that’s a minor issue compared to the overall performance and value.
All in all, while I wouldn’t pay the full price, I’m very happy with the purchase at this discounted rate. If you can find a good deal, I highly recommend this laptop!

This is my first gaming laptop. I am absolutely impressed with its overall build quality and design. It can handle anything I throw at it just about. I’ve actually been using it more than my desktop. Whether it’s on the go, or at home, it suits my needs perfectly. It does get pretty hot during more intense gaming, but stays cool doing other activities on it. I just put it on top the box it came in and that works fine. The keyboard is nice, and I love the mouse pad. Some would say it’s too big, but I think the bigger it is, the better, as it allows less strenuous movement. I was surprised with the battery life. It will last you quite a bit, but I still prefer to keep it plugged in. The screen is by far the best screen on any device I’ve had to date. Really smooth, vibrant colors, very sharp and very clear. I believe it has a fingerprint reader for easier sign on, though I haven’t used it. Overall really fast, really sleek design. I’m glad I went with this one over other options. It really is a good bang for your buck if you manage to get it on sale. It’s a real Heavy Hitter!

Reviewers praise the excellent keyboard and touchpad, the surprisingly great speakers, and the generous port selection. While it carries a decent price tag, the Zephyrus G16 is an investment that provides an impressive balance of power, portability, and sophisticated design. According to Techaeris, it's easily one of the best laptops of the year.

At MSRP of $1999 for the 4070 model the specs leave a little to be desired.
On sale though, the laptop is a great purchase. After looking at a number of laptops I found this one to have the best screen and speakers by far. After being into computer tech for the past couple decades I am genuinely blown away that a laptop screen and speakers can be so good.
That being said there are a few downsides regardless of price. Turbo mode is a joke and thermally throttles like crazy. Which isn't really much of an issue as regular mode is perfectly fine for gaming. The real downside is the soldered RAM. Granted the GPU will probably become outdated when 16GB of RAM is for games but it does suck for any productivity work.

So you wanna play games on a laptop? Well here is one that I think you will enjoy. There are many things that make this a very good laptop and especially for gaming. Here is my two cents on what is in it and some info.
The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (2024) that I have has cutting-edge components, ensuring unparalleled performance and immersive visuals for gaming enthusiasts and content creators alike.
1. 16GB LPDDR5X Memory: With 16GB of LPDDR5X memory, the G16 delivers lightning-fast multitasking and responsiveness, allowing you to seamlessly switch between applications and handle resource-intensive tasks with ease. This high-speed memory ensures smoother gameplay, faster load times, and enhanced overall system performance. You can get one with 32GB of memory if you wanna go there.
2. GeForce RTX 4070 Graphics: Powered by the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card, the G16 delivers jaw-dropping visuals and real-time ray tracing for unparalleled gaming immersion. Whether you're exploring vast open worlds or engaging in intense multiplayer battles, the RTX 4070 ensures fluid gameplay and stunning graphics, pushing the boundaries of realism and visual fidelity.
3. Intel Core Ultra 9 Processor: Equipped with the Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, the G16 delivers desktop-class performance in a portable form factor. With up to 12 cores and 24 threads, this powerhouse CPU handles demanding tasks with ease, whether it's gaming, content creation, or multitasking. Experience lightning-fast speeds and seamless performance, ensuring a smooth and responsive computing experience.
4. OLED ROG Nebula Display: The G16 features a breathtaking OLED ROG Nebula Display, combining vibrant colors, deep blacks, and unparalleled contrast for a truly immersive visual experience. With a high-resolution display and wide color gamut, every frame comes to life with stunning clarity and detail, making games, movies, and creative content pop off the screen. Whether you're gaming or working on graphic design projects, the OLED display delivers exceptional color accuracy and image quality.
5. NVIDIA G-SYNC Technology: Experience buttery-smooth gameplay with NVIDIA G-SYNC technology, which synchronizes the display's refresh rate with the GPU's frame rate to eliminate screen tearing and minimize input lag. Enjoy fluid motion and responsive controls, even in fast-paced action scenes, ensuring a competitive edge in gaming and a more immersive viewing experience for multimedia content.
Now here are some low points.
1. Limited Battery Life: One of the trade-offs of packing high-performance hardware into a slim chassis is compromised battery life. The G16's battery struggles to keep up with intensive usage, lasting only a few hours under optimal conditions. This makes it less than ideal for extended gaming sessions away from a power source.
2. Mediocre Keyboard and Trackpad: While the G16's keyboard offers decent tactile feedback and customizable RGB lighting, some users may find it shallow compared to standalone mechanical keyboards. Similarly, the trackpad's accuracy and responsiveness leave something to be desired, making it preferable to use an external mouse for gaming.
3. Pricey Proposition: As expected from a premium gaming laptop, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 commands a hefty price tag. While the performance justifies the cost for serious gamers and professionals, budget-conscious consumers may find it difficult to justify the expense, especially considering the availability of more affordable alternatives.
The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (2024) excels in delivering exceptional gaming performance and portability, making it a desirable choice for gamers and power users alike. However, potential buyers should weigh the pros and cons carefully to determine if it aligns with their priorities and budget. If you're willing to make some compromises in exchange for top-tier performance, the G16 is worth considering.
