Outstanding audio, with proper tuning can go toe to toe with a MacBook Pro 16. With Ghelper instead of armory crate, I could manage 6-9 hours of streaming videos, web browsing. Battery and performance felt in line with a mobile Ryzen from a few years ago. OLED screen was fantastic above 70% with minimal reflections. Below 70%, you start to see sand paper textures on grey and dark backgrounds. Fans were acceptable, however the air noise pushing against the frame can be audible at low loads with silent mode off. Unfortunately my unit had a rattling track pad and severe dpc latency with audio that would cause skips and buzzing that I did not have on the 2024 G14/2022 G15. Overall a good choice in contrast with options on the current market if you’re looking for a ultrabook with the exception of audio creation.

PROS + Gorgeous 240hz OLED panel + Super-slim, all aluminum shell that seeps quality, is solid, and lightweight for size + Super solid gaming chops with RTX 4080 Laptop GPU and Intel Ultra 9 185H CPU + Great full-sounding speakers with plenty of volume and impact + Very quiet operation in Silent and Performance modes + Huge and responsive trackpad + 32GB of memory and fast SSD + Plenty of I/O CONS - Sounds like a jet engine when in Turbo mode - Can’t fight physics, it outputs some real heat during stressful gaming sessions SO-SO * Armory Crate software has some useful features, but can feel a bit clunky * RTX 4080 has 115w TGP, so not full 175w TGP potential, but still plenty fast, especially given the size * Battery life is solid for all of the specs, but likely won’t last a full day of usage THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT The Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 is targeted at gamers, but this is a multimedia powerhouse through and through. While it certainly possesses plenty of gaming chops, software, and the tools necessary to have a super solid portable gaming experience, where I think this laptop really excels above and beyond is being an all-around multimedia machine. It has the best screen I have ever seen on a laptop, rich speakers, a solid GPU & CPU for content creation and gaming, lots of I/O, fast memory, quiet operation, great portability, and a respectable battery life for the power. There is really no area where this laptop doesn’t excel. Being a thin and light laptop, that also is doubling as a portable workstation, it cannot outrun physics, and so does require a lot of cooling and fan power to operate in an efficient manner. But if you are looking for a jack of all trades that can do it all well, and are willing to pay a premium for it, this is a fantastic option. BUILD QUALITY At 0.59” thick, and weighing 4.3lbs, it is a very portable 16” laptop that houses a lot of powerful components in a slick package. The body is made of aluminum and has this gunmetal gray finish that looks and feels very premium. The body is rigid with no keyboard flex, creaking, or cheap feeling construction. The screen hinge feels great and can be opened with one finger easily, there is a bit of screen flex if you look for it, but no wobble or issues with screen construction of any form. In terms of lighting, the lightbar/slash on the back looks great when lit-up with its individual LEDs and custom light patterns, although you won’t really see it much during use, so I tended to leave it off to give the laptop a more understated look. The keyboard is a bit on the mushy side, but key travel is just about perfect for me. Overall the keyboard is very comfortable to use for long periods of time and I had no issues writing for several continuous hours on it without issue. The backlight is RGB, and can be fully controlled with lighting patterns as you would expect. If I had one nitpick with the keyboard, it would be that I wish the page up-down left-right buttons where a bit larger, as they are all half-key sized, but this really is a nitpick and not uncommon for a laptop of this size. Overall, the build quality on this laptop is top notch, and I honestly have no complaints at all. It is a premium laptop and it feels like it. Very well done. EVERYDAY USE Everyday usability is where I think this laptop really shines. This all starts with the 240hz OLED screen, which is absolutely gorgeous. It has a very wide color gamut, with perfect black levels and an infinite contrast ratio. It can get plenty bright, and everything from gaming to movies to daily browsing is a visual treat. I can’t speak for color accuracy, as I don’t have the equipment to measure this, but to my eye it looks highly color accurate, playing content that I have played many times on my calibrated monitors. It really is the best screen I have ever used on a laptop, and is buttery smooth with the 240hz refresh rate. Pairing with this are the 6 built-in Dolby Atmos speakers, which are surprisingly rich sounding for their size and the overall real estate within the laptop. They get quite loud, and at larger volumes have a good frequency presence from the low-end to the high-end. While I would definitely recommend a good pair of headphones for media consumption with any laptop, including this one, as that will still offer a better overall experience, the speakers in this are more than sufficient for casual sessions. You won’t get any real spatial audio presence from the Dolby Atmos capability of the speakers, but you do get a solid stereo presentation that is fully above average for most laptop speakers you will find. I should note that I did initially have some distortion issues with the speakers when I first got the laptop, but after a firmware and BIOS update, it all seems to have sorted out and I have not had any more issues since. Elsewhere on the laptop, you get plenty of I/O, with HDMI 2.1, USB-A, & USB-C ports, all of which mean you should be able to use this laptop without the need for an external dock, unless you need more peripherals. The charger that comes with the laptop does use a custom port, which is non-standard if you want to use the full-sized power brick, but you can also charge via USB-C, although at a slower-rate. If gaming, I would recommend using the included charger however to ensure you are getting the full power. GAMING Being a gaming laptop first and foremost, the main question I had getting this laptop was how it was going to perform with modern games, given it is a thin and light laptop first, and not the traditional bulky gaming laptops of old. The RTX 4080 laptop GPU has a 115w TGP, which is less than the 175w possible, but when combined with the Intel Ultra 9 185H CPU & 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM, is a very potent machine. I threw some of my favorite AAA games against it, and I was genuinely surprised how well it performed. With DLSS, Cyberpunk 2077 was playable with medium ray-tracing settings and Alan Wake 2 was playable with medium settings and path-tracing, yielding a better performance than almost any console can do today. While these games are some of the heaviest you can play today, the fact that this laptop was able to play them at playable framerates was really impressive. When I moved to less intensive games, like Resident Evil 4 and Spider-Man, the laptop excelled with high framerates in the 100’s and no real slowdown. Most of my time spent gaming with the laptop was in the “Turbo” mode while plugged-in, which results is a very loud fan and a lot of heat being pushed out the back of the laptop. In this mode I needed to use headphones to enjoy the games fully, but heat was kept well away from the key board and my hands, which meant I was never uncomfortable gaming on the machine. Playing in “Performance” mode was sufficient for lightweight games, and operated significantly quieter and cooler in operation. Battery life while gaming in any of these modes is not great, and you will definitely want to play any serious games while connected to power, unless you want to play on a shorter 1-2 hour timeframe. Overall, I was really impressed by the gaming performance of the laptop. It offers a serious experience, which is scalable depending on the games you play, and when coupled with the build quality and size of the laptop, feels a bit like magic at times, given it is often delivering a superior experience to most modern consoles while being significantly smaller and more power efficient. It isn’t a miracle worker, and you do still have a lot of heat and cooling needed to keep the laptop functioning well, but the machine is very effective with its vapor cooling system at removing heat from the system. If all you play is modern AAA games, I wouldn’t use this as my primary system unless I wanted an all-in-one machine I could take with me, but for non AAA gaming, or even games just a few years old, this machine should be able to handle them without a sweat. DLSS in particular is a real game changer for this machine, and really lets you leverage the higher refresh rate capabilities of the display.

ASUS has done it again—this laptop is hands down one of the best on the market, and it’s a shame it’s been discontinued. The G16 with the RTX 4080, Ultra 9 processor, vapor chamber cooling, and 32GB RAM strikes the perfect balance between performance, portability, and premium build—without compromise. If you can still get your hands on one, I highly recommend it over most of the newer models, especially when considering return on investment. With a powerful GPU, premium vapor chamber thermals, and a solid aluminum chassis, it outperforms many competitors while staying sleek and relatively light. I’ve seen some people leave negative reviews about heat under load—but let’s be honest: People want ultra-slim gaming laptops with top-tier specs in an aluminum body and then act surprised when it runs warm. This is normal behavior for high-performance laptops, and ASUS’s vapor chamber cooling does a phenomenal job keeping temps in check for this class of machine. For those who want powerful gaming and content creation on the go—with a clean, professional aesthetic and no RGB circus—this is the machine to get. ASUS absolutely nailed it with this one. I’ll be holding onto mine for years.

Laptop build quality is solid, feels real nice and slim. Couple issues though, the trackpad has some wobble and the fans sound like bearings are rubbing at low rpm, which is a quality control issue because my 4070 version doesn’t have the same issues. Performance is great and tweaking settings in manual mode gets about 15.5k graphics in timespy and runs quiet.

very sleek and portable laptop. I love how nice the screen is. The battery life is also amazing when you turn off the dedicated graphics card. It does get quite hot, but this is expected with such a small chassis. Buy now, you won't regret!

I've used many laptops over the years, owned many Mac and Windows laptops. This is an excellent Laptop. Ultra premium build, OLED 240hz screen, great performer for the size. Unboxing and Build Quality In the box I found the laptop and power adapter as well as some standard paperwork documentation. The machine is very thin and light - it's actually a bit smaller than a 16" Macbook Pro. Build quality is excellent. The gray color is similar to Apple space gray and the metal build feels great. There is little to no keyboard deck flex. The slash lighting on top is a cool touch but it can attract dirt and dust easily in the LED gaps. Fingerprint resistance seems OK. The 240w power adapter is smaller than past Asus adapters which is highly welcomed for better portability. It also uses a new rectangular plug which feels sturdy. Setup As with any new laptop, make sure you download the latest updates from Windows Update and use the Asus Armory crate software to upgrade all the drivers. I'd also download the Nvidia app and update the graphics driver as part of setting up a new laptop. I find Asus Armory crate to be functional while performing well and not feeling too bloated, although the settings can be a bit confusing. I wish they had a simplified mode with simple lighting and performance modes and driver update section, and then a more advanced mode to unlock the other settings if desired. It can feel a bit overwhelming to open Armory Crate and see so many options. Most people just want to set the power mode and the lighting color and update drivers. General Usability Great trackpad, perhaps a tiny little bit hard to click but that's OK. It clicks evenly and there is no play. The port selection is great. Love the USB-A and USB-C ports being on both sides. The speakers are excellent - up there with macbook pro quality. They are the best speakers I have ever heard on a windows laptop. Screen The 16" 1600P 240hz OLED screen is one of the main selling points of this laptop. The display is glossy and looks beautiful. It also gets bright enough, I believe the spec is about 400 nits which seems accurate. The glossy display coupled with the OLED display makes for a great display with excellent contrast and bright colors. The gloss screen seems to have a anti reflective layer that in certain lighting conditions gives it a bit of a bluish gray undertone. It's not a big deal, just something I noticed. The 240hz refresh rate is a dream for games like Counter Strike, League of Legends, Call of Duty, Fortnite, Valorant, etc. I played several hours of CS2 and League of Legends and the 240hz refresh rate is wonderful. With G-Sync turned on by default I also saw no screen tearing. The text clarity and subpixel layout are more than acceptable for an OLED display. Around some text theres a very, very small amount of color fringing from the OLED subpixel layout but It's really not noticable at normal viewing distance and It's much better than the fringing on something like an LG 42" OLED TV at a desk as a monitor. I was also very happy to see the screen has no dirty screen effect, no screen door effect, no random dots on it. When it comes to burn-in, as long as you don't leave the screen on 24/7, I see no reason to be concerned about burn in anymore with these displays. Performance For a machine this size, I'm real impressed by what Asus has managed to crank out of this machine. With my 4080 version on Performance mode I managed a timespy score overall 13,100, and with Turbo mode (louder fans, higher power targets) I get 14,700. How this translates into gameplay - Realistically, any modern game including high demand AAA games run excellent on this laptop. Especially with new technology from Nvidia for frame generation in games like hogwarts legacy and others can create an excellent gaming experience. The Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU is more than powerful enough for the job paired with this CPU. In Cinebench on Performance Mode, I get a score of 17,100 over a 10 minute run. Heat, Fans While playing games, the heat management is very good. The palm rests do not get hot, the keyboard does not get hot. The only parts of the laptop that get hot are the area between the keyboard and the display. The fan noise while gaming is actually pretty good for a machine this size. On turbo mode the fans do get whirring pretty loud but that's the price you pay for that extra performance bump. Idling and low drain tasks, the fan curve should be tweaked a bit by Asus. It's a little frustrating to hear the fan whine up and down while watching youtube videos. I'd rather have a continuous nearly quiet sound than a quiet sound with spool ups every few seconds. I think this is a simple software tweak for Asus to implement - while gaming the fan noise is continuous and not changing which is less distracting. Upgradability If you open the laptop to add an SSD or upgrade the wifi, or to clean fans, note that there are two more hidden screws underneath the two small rectangular rubber pieces toward the back. I added an SSD and upgraded the wifi card to a BE200 card. Of course, the SSD was plug and play, and the Wifi 7 card was also plug and play. Battery If you use silent mode on battery, the battery can last well over 5hrs, but silent mode brings the cpu clocks way down. It's perfectly usable for basic tasks or youtube videos, etc, but noticeably slower. Setting it to performance mode in Armory Crate while on battery makes the machine snappier, but the battery gets cut down to 2-3hrs. I don't personally play games while on battery with laptops since the performance drops down. For me battery while playing games is more to just move the machine to a different room in the house, etc. Overall This is a really excellent laptop for high performance portability. The OLED screen is excellent, the performance is good, the speakers are great, keyboard and trackpad are great, and with the right settings can deliver long battery life. I had absolutely zero glitches in my use so far, and the machine performed as expected. If you're after a bit more power, you can get an Asus Scar 18 which is one of the best large desktop replacement laptops, but that comes at a higher price and larger size. I think the Zephyrus G16 strikes the right balance for most people in the premium portability category.

My first ROG, the build quality is outstanding. Display in best in the world easily. Keyboard feels really nice. Trackpad is large and accurate (though impossible to click at the top) preformance does.not disapoint. Its a definite win. Now the negatives:The keyboard font is a bit juvenile but i can live with it. Trackpad should have been haptic at this price. Overall Id definitely recommend this as a light very portable professional laptop or a gamer laptop. Its worth checking out if you have the $ and want the best. (Almost perfect) (haptics Asus... This laptop's a real innovation. It stays perfectly cool to the touch with its Intel Ultra processor (as opposed to the HX variants) while at the same time having excellent battery life for non-gaming tasks. Oh... and it's got an OLED panel with G-Sync... And it's lightweight. Yeah, it rocks. The only issue I have is that Nvidia Advanced Optimus is a little buggy and thinks the laptop is connected to an external monitor when it isn't. That seems to have gone away after restarting, however. Overall, this laptop works great for both gaming and creative work... plus office work and media consumption. Ennjoy!

the screen is incredible!! gaming on the screen is mind blowing, blacks and colors are perfect. I had the 4070 version before this but returned it as the 16gb mem was not enough right out of the box and the fans were loud. Fans on this one are pretty quiet for being a 4080, you can hear them when gaming but its a smooth noise as opposed to loud annoying. touchpad is really nice. still getting used to keyboard as it seems a little to the right for me. having issues with the face recognition, you have to be close for it to work. warzone gaming i set to 120hz max running 1600p. no issues. lies of p maxed out no issues. fortnite no issues. wish it came with a case or mouse or bookbag though.

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 arrived at a perfect time. My son started college a year and a half ago, and in an effort to get him situated with something that he could work and play on, we got him an ASUS TUFF laptop to try to satisfy both. At the time it was decently powered for gaming, but was pretty robust in size with almost a 17 ½ inch screen and it was as bit chunky at almost 6 lbs. While it is still serviceable for schoolwork and browsing the web, it was definitely becoming somewhat underpowered for his gaming wants. The Zephyrus is an absolute beast with regards to those needs, packaged in a sleek new build that is more reasonably sized for both a great gaming experience and something he can easily throw in a backpack for his classroom and study needs. Out of the box, build quality is front and center as the laptop really uses a different design language from your typical gaming rig. The G16 boasts a pretty sleek looking aluminum shell, simple in design and highlighted by a thin diagonal LED light bar on the lid (sort of a rave party in and of itself when turned on initially, but it has a few different lighting configurations or can be shut off completely in the provided ASUS Armoury Crate software), and otherwise only broken by the few ports on the left and right sides and heat vents on the underside. Coming in at just a hair over 4 lbs. while boasting a slim profile slightly over a half inch thick, It has been dubbed the ‘MacBook Pro’ of gaming machines’, and it is hard to argue the comparison from initial aesthetic impressions. I would offer that, while it certainly has the smooth and subtle presence that screams content creator, there is absolutely some signature ROG gaming snarl under the hood. We selected the buildout with the Ultra 9 185H processer, 32gb of RAM, GeForce RTX 4080 Nvidia graphics and 1TB of onboard PCIe 4.0 SSD storage. High horsepower, the perfect amount of memory for gaming, and decent but expandable storage. Crack the lid open, and you’re greeted by elegant low-profile keycaps that are a joy to work with, whether ripping off kills in an FPS or typing notes in a class (not super important, but I’m paying the freight for college so it is a bonus feature…). ASUS provides a backlit chiclit style keyboard with single-zone LEDs, it is a really smooth journey navigating the keyboard when in a typing rhythm. The tactile clicks are there for sure, and the key actually has a decent travel depth for such a thin chassis. Total score here, as that very interaction with a laptop can make or break your comfort with it. Another big piece of the input experience is the trackpad, and this one is on point. Large in footprint, spacious enough for navigation and multi-finger gestures without feeling cramped or hurting your wrists at all. Very responsive with a minimal click action to register affect, a really nice tactile experience for such a subtle action. This is all topped with a gorgeous 240hz 16” OLED ROG Nebula display. I’ve not had an opportunity to experience gaming with an OLED screen, and it is absolutely jaw-dropping. Contrast and color gamut are the main calling cards of OLED technology, and I just haven’t seen much that compares with the experience. For gaming, it is a vivid otherworldly experience saturated with rich deep colors and a super crisp presentation that absolutely pops. It is another class of gaming, largely what you are looking for when shopping in this stratosphere and I believe that the configuration we picked is the optimal one to really drive the best performance the screen has to offer. We were able to achieve consistent 70-90 FPS performance with zero tear or artifacts in many of our AAA titles, the gameplay was absolutely immaculate and brought an entirely new depth of experience. Nothing made this rig sweat from a performance perspective (although all games will get the fan cranking pretty well, prepare for liftoff when you hit go…as was expected with the design of the deck). Streaming movies and other media use is pretty outstanding on it, between the OLED visual experience and onboard sound he’s found another reason not to leave bed on the weekends. We are all used to needing headphones and mics in the family, as we all game and use our devices to play, chat and video chat. The Zephyrus comes with Dolby Atmos speakers that fire up and down and provide rich full sound that has him passing on the headphone port unless he needs to keep it low key, it is surprisingly good for directional gaming sound, and outstanding for music in general. The onboard camera was generally good for video conferencing, and the three-microphone array was surprisingly crystal clear and front and center – you could pass on a USB mic or headphone boom mic and be more than fine, it was a pretty good quality for group chats, you will likely certainly level up with external gear for more professional streaming. The Armoury Crate software has an audio suite that allows you to choose between a few microphone profiles. The laptop has the normal array of ports as noted in the specs and within other reviews, the only concern I would generally mirror from other reviews is the proprietary power port. I’m not sure if this is something that will over find common ground within the industry but it remains a unique style of jack that looks prone to damage and could be expensive to replace. This is generally not my wheelhouse in terms of knowledge, but I’m praying for a magnetic power supply that can support the higher voltage needs with a clean breakaway (as I stumble through them often and ruin laptops and lives). Either way, there is enough for what you need in terms of adding peripherals, connecting devices and having alternative power solutions. I do particularly like the SD cart port for content creators, my son is starting to play with graphic digital arts and photography, this should come in handy. The onboard battery is as expected, for general use and browsing, we got a little over seven hours out of the box. For the optimal gaming experience you are not expecting to thrive on battery life- unplugged and loaded into a AAA title at max settings, we saw somewhere a little over an hour battery performance. Hard to look at this negatively, lithium has not solved for this level of horsepower, and that isn’t how he expects to use it. The ROG Zephyrus G16 is a premium designed laptop that perfectly blends portability with performance. It has really solid gaming credentials, can perform just as ably in the creator space, and absolutely overdelivers on your daily driving media-consumption tasks wherever you want, whenever you want. Would absolutely recommend, and another win for the ROG family. I have owned and built with ROG components for over a decade, I’ve trusted my gaming with them through three of my own builds, and if you are looking for a top-end pre-built laptop experience, this is definitely it.

I have been a PC gamer since the late 90’s early 2000’s. I remember when a gaming desktop weighed 80 pounds and had multiple hard drive bays for 20 gigabyte hard drives and CD-RW writers and 512 MB of ram was a huge deal. To see what pc-gaming has become in 2024 especially in the form of a laptop is astounding to me. Asus was a big motherboard brand back when I did my pc builds, but they never really were big on computers in general. Fast forward to now and I believe that Asus is the best out the box gaming setup you can buy, period. I am reviewing the Asus-ROG Zephyrus G16 laptop today and I feel blessed to have this computer in my hands. It is an absolute BEAST of a machine in such a tiny package its incredible. If you read no further than this just know that you 100% can’t go wrong with this laptop, but let’s dig into the review! Initial impressions of the laptop out the box were shocking. How could such a powerful machine be put into such a paper-thin aluminum chassis? The laptop is only .59 inches thick which is insane! Asus has blown me away with how they’re able to fit an Intel Core Ultra 9 with a RTX 4090 with sufficient cooling into this laptop and weigh less than 5 pounds total. The design is sleek and sophisticated coming with an Eclipse Gray color and a cool customizable LED feature on the top of the screen. The lighting pulses when the laptop is awake like it’s a living breathing entity. You can even setup in the Armoury crate app to have it pulse to the beat of music you play. I will say if you’re a big user of hooking up an additional monitor to your setup and keeping the laptop closed I did find it a tad distracting, but it’s easily able to be turned off if you so choose. Initial setup with Windows 11 was a breeze and I was up and running in a few minutes, did all the updates and off we go! Out the box this laptop is an absolute gaming monster. You can feel confident that anything you throw at it will perform at absolute top specs on any game. An Intel Core 9 185h processor with 32 gb of LPDD5RX ram and a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 leaves little more to be desired in a gaming rig. The laptop also comes with dual USB-C ports, HDMI 2.1, USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports, and a dedicated UHS-II MicroSD card reader which is handy for me since I am a photographer, so this machines doubles as an editing powerhouse! A 1TB SSD is the only thing I wish it had a little bit more space, but that’s easily fixed with an additional M2 slot for upgrades or adding some external hard drives. But 1TB is plenty to hold what I really need on the computer itself. The computer also has a built-in camera that recognizes you when you login which is a nice touch for bypassing the windows pin and handy when doing Microsoft Team meetings! The keyboard is responsive and the keys feel great under your fingers and the mousepad is a robust size. They even have keys dedicated to bringing up Armoury Crate on the fly! The OLED 16-inch monitor is beautiful with great contrast and a buttery smooth 240HZ refresh rate and .02ms response rate. The NVIDIA G-sync makes screen tearing a thing of the past. I also have a 34 inch Samsung widescreen monitor and the I play Apex legends A LOT and that game performs beautifully even with everything going on in the heat of battle. Games like Forza, Starfield, HI-Fi Rush and the new remastered Resident Evil 2 are absolutely breathtaking and I love that the computer comes with 3 free months of XBOX game pass to really give you a wide range of games to test out the box. The one thing I really truly love about ASUS computers though is the Armoury Crate, to me ASUS really knows that gamers and hardcore pc users really want customization and the ability to manipulate settings on the fly! Silent mode is great when your computer usage doesn’t need to be maximized and prolong battery life. But throwing the Laptop into Performance/Turbo mode really unlocks the potential. Being able to adjust the Processors and GPU to tailor what type of games you’re playing whether its Racing, FPS or RTS/RPG’s gives the computer that much more flexibility. OLED Care settings to make sure the OLED settings are correct to help maximize your displays lifespan is a nice touch as well. It’s a very robust app overall that makes ASUS laptops the best in the game in my opinion. Overall, I can’t recommend this laptop enough, it’s an absolute beast of a computer that leaves nothing to be desired in a gaming rig. ASUS has hit a homerun with this laptop and I’ll be curious to see where they go from here because this ones going to be tough to top! If you’re on the fence about it due to the high price tag you should jump immediately and never look back, it’s the best of the best!

Laptop is pretty great, i used many tips from YouTube to set up for max performance. The #1 best upgrade was going from Armory Crate to GHelper (make sure you research settings) - silent mode now gets 6 hrs vs 1.5hrs with armory crate, which is wild. Minus 1 star for bit having pixel shift technology to preserve the OLED screen. Asus has tech, they should have included it this premium & beautiful laptop!

When I first saw the description of this computer I was a little skeptical of what exactly the Intel Core Ultra 9 was and what it could do. Well I'm here to tell you that this computer is an absolute beast. Everything about this computer kicks it up to 11. The rumors about the RTX 40 series of graphics chips are true. these things offer supremely detailed graphics and optimize even some of the more basic games. I played Team Fortress 2 (a game that's almost 20 years old) and it looked incredible. in the same sitting I loaded up one of the newest and hottest games right now: Helldivers 2, and the detail and beauty was simply astonishing. But the graphics chip shouldn't get all the credit for that, The crystal clear OLED 16" screen offers an awesomely sized view so you can hit tough shots or just take in beautiful scenery. Couple this with the speaker system that this computer has and you get amazing immersion on the go! The software that the computer comes with for customizing the way the computer operates is pretty intuitive and makes it easy to throttle things back when you don't need all that power or to push it into turbo for those high-end, sweat inducing gaming sessions. But with everything good that I can say about this laptop there are also a few drawbacks. First, because it does have one heck of an engine going on within, it tends to get rather loud and awfully hot, especially when doing anything graphically intensive. It's not that the computer cannot handle these tasks but you pay for it in sound and heat. It will however mitigate the heat rather quickly once the tasks are over. but I wouldn't recommend having this thing sitting on a flat surface for too long if you're going to be doing any heavy gaming. The second thing is that while the keyboard is cool with all the flashy lights, it's not something I would use for actually doing the gaming. The main heat point is just under the top center f the keyboard and it makes it kind of uncomfortable if you plan on using any of the keys in the center of the keyboard during times when the processor is really cooking (pun intended) The trackpad while ample (which is nice for more mundane tasks) gets in the way a lot when doing any kind of keyboard use for gaming purposes. (my thumb hit it more often than I would like) And lastly, The computer came with only 1TB of hard drive space. most wouldn't see this as much of a problem and for me its not a deal breaker, BUT with games nowadays topping 80-100GB a game, that doesn't leave much room for a lot of games onboard. Like I said, not a deal breaker, just something to keep in mind These are the only reasons that I didn't give this 5 stars. Otherwise if you are looking for a mobile powerhouse of a gaming laptop you can't get much better than this one.

This is an amazing laptop. I'm happy that I waited for it to go on sale, so that I could get the 4080 version with 32GB of RAM. That is absolutely the way to go. Screen is the best that I've used on a laptop and I like it better than my MiniLED MacBook Pro. Gaming performance is excellent. Thermals are also really good! I'm shocked how well the macine stays cool. Don't get me wrong, it gets warm and the fans are running, but given the Ultra 9 processor and the 4080 in such a thin chassis, this is really remarkable. Fans are not loud given this is a gaming laptop. I use headphones while gaming and don't hear the fans. There is no high pitched or annoying noises in the fan, just moving air. Build quality is top notch. It is on par with my MacBook Pro. Feels excellent. One complaint, if you want a second power adapter, they're hard to come by. I went with a premium third party one because the Asus ones are very difficult to come by. I hope this will change as time goes on because the the connector is fairly new. Not enough of an issue to ding a point, just a note for other people looking at this laptop.

Ive been using it for school work the past week and the display is just stunning, I havent got to play on it much just a launched a game here and there but I can already tell performance is top notch. Is it expensive? Absolutely. This I the first laptop I’ve had in about 11 years and as soon as this was announced I just had to have it. Fans do get loud but I could understand because of the form factor. But for some reason I feel like I can hear a little whine noise. Thats not enough for me to dock it down an star though.

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (2024) is a game-changer in the realm of portable gaming laptops, setting a new benchmark for what enthusiasts and professionals alike can expect. My experience with this machine has been nothing short of remarkable, offering a blend of power, elegance, and innovation that's hard to come by. Starting with the design, the Zephyrus G16 gives off a premium feel reminiscent of a MacBook, thanks to its exceptional solid build quality. The laptop's eclipse gray chassis is not only visually appealing but also impressively durable, ensuring it can withstand the rigors of daily use. The standout feature, however, is the distinctive slash lighting on the laptop lid, which adds a unique touch to its overall aesthetic. While the lighting patterns are captivating, the addition of more customization options, including more lighting patterns and RGB capabilities/options, would elevate the user experience further. Performance-wise, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is in a league of its own. Powered by an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, 32GB DDR5 memory, and a GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card, this laptop breezes through the most demanding games and creative tasks. The 16" OLED display, with a blistering 240Hz refresh rate, ensures ultra-smooth visuals, making every gaming session immersive. Moreover, the bootup time is virtually instant, a testament to the laptop's optimized hardware and software integration. There is no touch screen on this model, but why waste the processing power? The ASUS Armor Crate software enhances the user experience by providing a centralized platform to customize lighting, optimize gaming performance, custom profiles, screen optimization, manage game libraries, and more. This level of personalization and control is a significant plus, allowing users to tailor their gaming environment to their preferences. Another highlight is the laptop's trackpad, which is generously sized, offering precision and comfort for extended use. Coupled with the laptop's ultra-thin and lightweight design, the Zephyrus G16 is the epitome of gaming mobility without compromising on power. I still can’t believe they packed a 4080 and all the other performance hardware into this super thin machine. However, excellence comes at a price, and the Zephyrus G16 is no exception. While its cost may be on the higher end, the unparalleled performance, exceptional build quality, and unique features justify the investment for those seeking the best gaming experience on the go. Overall, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (2024) stands out as a marvel of gaming technology, offering a perfect blend of speed, portability, and style. It is an absolute recommendation for anyone looking to elevate their gaming to new heights, regardless of where they are. In my opinion, this is the top dog of gaming laptops so far this year. ASUS knocked it out of the park with this build! Also… virtual pet anyone??

Great form factor, excellent screen and decent sound system. HDMI port is a bit glitchy and overall system stability is a little odd with armory crate, but the sheer performance when things are working right is pretty incredible as long as you don't mind extraordinarily loud fans

This laptop is almost perfect in so many ways. The speakers are the best I have ever heard (on a windows laptop), the performance is great, battery life is alright, and its super portable. The only issue I've had so far was with a faulty USB-C port. I just need to get it exchanged.

I recently got my hands on the Asus Zephyrus G16, it's been everything I hoped for updating from my 2020 G14 Gorgeous OLED Screen: The QHD+ OLED display is nothing short of breathtaking. Colors pop, blacks are deep, and the contrast is mesmerizing. Whether I’m gaming or watching movies, the screen quality is top-notch. High Refresh Rate: The 165Hz refresh rate ensures buttery-smooth gameplay. Beastly Specs: With an Intel Core i9 13900H processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU, this laptop is a powerhouse. The 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD provide ample space and lightning-fast performance. Loved easily adding in a second 4TB ssd to up the storage. Nice Keyboard: The RGB backlit keyboard is a joy to type on. The keys are responsive, and the customizable lighting is sweet. The Only Quirk: Now, let’s address the issue you mentioned. There seems to be a hiccup when booting with a USB-C hub plugged in. Sometimes, the laptop doesn’t boot properly. It gets stuck during the startup process. I haven't figured out the Bios setting that will prevent it from hanging hard. With the supplied power strip it works just fine. Plug in the USB-C hub after booting up. It seems to prevent any conflicts during startup. Final Verdict: Despite this minor quirk, the Asus Zephyrus G16 (2024) is a beast of a gaming laptop. If you’re serious about performance, stunning visuals, and a killer keyboard, this is the one to get. Just remember to follow the workaround, and you’ll be in gaming nirvana!
