Good performance for thin form factor, screen is cool, but very fragile. Extreemly clean looking laptop. The single cnc aluminum body is super nice. Minimal keyboard flex. Feels like a windows version of a mac almost.

This 16-inch laptop is an excellent choice if you're looking for a device that's perfect for both productivity and gaming on the go. It is light enough to take with you, yet powerful enough to handle any game you throw at it today with pretty good settings. Pros: The speakers are fantastic, and the screen is breathtaking. Cons: As this is my first gaming laptop, I am unsure if this is a genuine con. I would say the load times and the fact that some games have to be restarted several times before I can play them could be potential issues. Despite these concerns, I firmly believe that I made the right decision in choosing the G16, as it perfectly meets my need for a portable laptop that allows me to play games and be productive while on the go without causing back pain from carrying a ton on my back.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus (2024, RTX 4080) Review

I recently owned the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16, and overall, it was a fantastic machine. The screen is absolutely incredible—its OLED QHD display with a 240Hz refresh rate truly brings games and media to life with stunning clarity and smooth visuals. The keyboard has a satisfying, tactile feel, and the overall design of the laptop is sleek and modern. That said, the laptop isn’t without its flaws. While gaming, I experienced noticeable thermal throttling, which sometimes hampered performance during extended sessions. Battery life was another letdown; as a student who needs to work unplugged for hours, the short battery life just couldn’t keep up with my daily demands. Ultimately, I decided to return it because I needed a machine that could reliably support my mobile lifestyle. However, if you plan to keep it plugged in at your desk, this laptop can be an absolute beast. With a cooling pad to help manage the heat, it would likely be nearly perfect. In summary, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is a high-performance gaming laptop with an amazing display and design, but its thermal and battery limitations might be a deal-breaker for those needing portability.

    Durability concerns give me pause

Great computer from a performance standpoint. Gets hot but managable. Biggest concern is durability. My computer has creaking noise with a small amount of flex on the bottom panel where the screen and bottom meet. Not sure if it's normal on this model, but for a computer that's over 2K, this should not happen. I will likely return it for this reason. If that's not a big deal for you, then go for it!

What a powerhouse of a gaming laptop

I believe I have found the laptop that suits all my gaming and photo editing needs. I love gaming and have been looking for a laptop that has top specs for running the newest games in high quality. On the other end, with all the photo editing I do I also need to be able to run the latest editing software. This ROG Zephyrus is a perfect blend of gaming and business. The specs that caught my attention the most are as follows: -16" OLED with 240hz refresh rate and 2k resolution (2560 x 1600). This really makes for great high definition gaming on high quality settings and for clean dark blacks. -Intel Core Ultra 9 and 32GB Memory for heavy editing or multimedia use and running multiple applications -Nvidia RTX4080 will allow for high quality video settings in game, which for a laptop of this size is impressive. Some thoughtful mentions that make the experience worth it are: -Very nice keyboard layout and large trackpad make for a great typing experience. -Asus Armoury Crate software is a very useful program to monitor and manage everything from RGB lighting (Aura Sync) and slash lighting, edit profiles, and GPU settings. -Speaker system is on par for decent listening. There isn't anything really to take a star off of this. Me being nit picky, I feel like the hinge on the display when opened does not feel solid. It allows for some play when typing on a uneven surface and when you look at the webcam you can see the video bounce around some.

Incredible laptop! I do gaming and 4k video editing on it and it does that without any issues in davinci resolve. Also not really sure why some people comment on the fan noise. This is on par with virtually every other gaming laptop out there with fan noise, and in my opinion maybe a little quieter. I also don't use turbo mode simply because you don't need to, performance mode is plenty for gaming and work, and silent mode is great for any kind of productivity and web browsing. Gets hot on the deck near the screen, but not at all near the trackpad and most of the keyboard. Underneath can get hot as well, but that's to be expect with an all aluminum chasis. Great laptop all around.

Crazy build quality, maxes out everything I throw at it. Insane screen. Only problem so far when I turn it on it gets stuck on the asus rog logo and I have to turn it back on and off and after a few minutes it'll randomly boot into windows. I wish there was a way to turn off the asus boot. Tried going into the bios but it was super laggy. I updated all the motherboard bios and everything. Still have the issue. But its a beast for sure no regrets

Before buying this laptop, I daily used my Razer Blade 15. I wanted a new laptop with the same quality, but a lot more powerful than what I had and for a lot less. The zephyrus doesn’t disappoint; both in terms of gaming and productivity. I was able to hit 100fps on rather high settings for the new Indiana Jones game. And more importantly, it was able to flawlessly run my architecture software and was amazing with processing renders and post processing in photoshop. The screen is definitely the best aspect of the laptop; it’s bright color accurate, and high resolution. Can’t think of a single complaint

A stunning laptop with a lot of power a gorgeous OLED screen, but to get it where you need to get it to go it takes a lot of tweaking even down to the registry level. Once you get it there then the fan and the thermal performance are fine. Battery Life, if you’re gaming is not great but can be pretty decent if you’re just doing productivity work and some video viewing. All in all though I do love it but to get it to where I needed to get it to go and control the heat and fans took quite a bit of work.

Considering I updated from a 2017 MSI with a 1060, this is leaps and bounds above what I'm used to. The speaker sound quality is excellent and the OLED display is gorgeous. It's handled everything I've thrown at it. It does get rather hot just above the keyboard when gaming with the settings cranked up. I put it on a cooling mat and it's just fine. I don't get any thermal throttling. For everyday tasks, it runs for ages on battery. I could do a full day of work and watch a movie after and it'll still have some juice left.

I would of given it a perfect score. My issue is the fact they hide its a Max Q version of the gpu. Even though its a 4080 like my other laptop. It runs way slower, because the other laptop uses 175w for the gpu vs 115w. If Asus reads this, please add that 10w hidden by a manual overclock to Turbo. The other reason for 1 less star is NO wifi 7, really!

    Returned-Glitches and Heating Issues. Lemon?

I returned product. Out of the box it needed programs reinstalled due to way too many glitches. Asus software is a mess. I removed Armory Crate and installed GHelper and still had heating issues from CPU and GPU. Temps in 90's immediately during gameplay and never stabilized at a lower temp (used Cyberpunk for testing). Had issues getting it below 70's when on idle after leaving game. I changed the power limit and that helped some with CPU temps on idle. Fans were always on due to cooling issues. I had it raised on platform and still no good. Had some wifi issues too that occasionally popped up in bios doing diagnostic showed potential motherboard issues. When it started having audio glitches in Youtube and video stuttering I called it quits. Pros: Beautiful screen, great audio for a laptop (when it works correctly). Cons: Heating issues on idle and in game. Started having glitches, and possible wifi card or motherboard issues. Asus software.

Efficient when doing normal day to day stuff, enough power to play well, nice build quality. Would've preferred a slightly thicker build with higher TDP for the graphics card. Ideal laptop in my opinion would be M16 with a CNC milled body and Mini-led with 2k+ zones (OLED is gorgeous but just worry about burn in risk).

Basically the ideal laptop for MacBook users who miss their PC gaming on the go. If you know you need 32GB of RAM, then just go ahead and get this one. Sure the 4080 isn't the receiving the most power that it could but it still is far faster than the 4070 and there is no other comparable laptop in this segment. It's thinner and lighter than a MacBook Pro!.

Got a great discount but Its a great product overall, it serves its purpose for someone like me, who is studying abroad that need something small, portable, but still has great performance. You would encounter some slight jitters as most laptops do (I experienced it in the past before) but its very negligible.

I purchased this laptop at BestBuy and OH-BOY is it awesome! This machine is fast and the OLED screen is unbelievable. I also added a Samsung 990 Pro M.2, 2TB SSD, giving it plenty of space for games. The battery life is pretty good unless you play a AAA game, then the battery is better than most others, but - more demand - more power.

The screen is phenomenal as well as the performance; however, the cpu would overheat on me if I had the cpu boost on in cpu intensive games though this was easily solved by turning off the cpu boost. Aside from that I didn’t really have any issues and it worked very well for my uses for it.

This laptop has been amazing since I got it. Everything about it is great except maybe the battery life. Even then it’s OK. I’m able to game (still high fps) while on battery alone tho which is something my older laptop wasnt able to do. It would switch to a saver mode and run very slow until plugged in again. The 32GB of Ram and 4080 seems to be the sweetspot until the 5000 Series Drops. (2025?)
