    The Katana of Gaming Laptops

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (2024) is a game-changer in the realm of portable gaming laptops, setting a new benchmark for what enthusiasts and professionals alike can expect. My experience with this machine has been nothing short of remarkable, offering a blend of power, elegance, and innovation that's hard to come by. Starting with the design, the Zephyrus G16 gives off a premium feel reminiscent of a MacBook, thanks to its exceptional solid build quality. The laptop's eclipse gray chassis is not only visually appealing but also impressively durable, ensuring it can withstand the rigors of daily use. The standout feature, however, is the distinctive slash lighting on the laptop lid, which adds a unique touch to its overall aesthetic. While the lighting patterns are captivating, the addition of more customization options, including more lighting patterns and RGB capabilities/options, would elevate the user experience further. Performance-wise, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is in a league of its own. Powered by an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, 32GB DDR5 memory, and a GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card, this laptop breezes through the most demanding games and creative tasks. The 16" OLED display, with a blistering 240Hz refresh rate, ensures ultra-smooth visuals, making every gaming session immersive. Moreover, the bootup time is virtually instant, a testament to the laptop's optimized hardware and software integration. There is no touch screen on this model, but why waste the processing power? The ASUS Armor Crate software enhances the user experience by providing a centralized platform to customize lighting, optimize gaming performance, custom profiles, screen optimization, manage game libraries, and more. This level of personalization and control is a significant plus, allowing users to tailor their gaming environment to their preferences. Another highlight is the laptop's trackpad, which is generously sized, offering precision and comfort for extended use. Coupled with the laptop's ultra-thin and lightweight design, the Zephyrus G16 is the epitome of gaming mobility without compromising on power. I still can’t believe they packed a 4080 and all the other performance hardware into this super thin machine. However, excellence comes at a price, and the Zephyrus G16 is no exception. While its cost may be on the higher end, the unparalleled performance, exceptional build quality, and unique features justify the investment for those seeking the best gaming experience on the go. Overall, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (2024) stands out as a marvel of gaming technology, offering a perfect blend of speed, portability, and style. It is an absolute recommendation for anyone looking to elevate their gaming to new heights, regardless of where they are. In my opinion, this is the top dog of gaming laptops so far this year. ASUS knocked it out of the park with this build! Also… virtual pet anyone??

    #1 tip - get G Helper

Laptop is pretty great, i used many tips from YouTube to set up for max performance. The #1 best upgrade was going from Armory Crate to GHelper (make sure you research settings) - silent mode now gets 6 hrs vs 1.5hrs with armory crate, which is wild. Minus 1 star for bit having pixel shift technology to preserve the OLED screen. Asus has tech, they should have included it this premium & beautiful laptop!

This is an amazing laptop. I'm happy that I waited for it to go on sale, so that I could get the 4080 version with 32GB of RAM. That is absolutely the way to go. Screen is the best that I've used on a laptop and I like it better than my MiniLED MacBook Pro. Gaming performance is excellent. Thermals are also really good! I'm shocked how well the macine stays cool. Don't get me wrong, it gets warm and the fans are running, but given the Ultra 9 processor and the 4080 in such a thin chassis, this is really remarkable. Fans are not loud given this is a gaming laptop. I use headphones while gaming and don't hear the fans. There is no high pitched or annoying noises in the fan, just moving air. Build quality is top notch. It is on par with my MacBook Pro. Feels excellent. One complaint, if you want a second power adapter, they're hard to come by. I went with a premium third party one because the Asus ones are very difficult to come by. I hope this will change as time goes on because the the connector is fairly new. Not enough of an issue to ding a point, just a note for other people looking at this laptop.

Efficient when doing normal day to day stuff, enough power to play well, nice build quality. Would've preferred a slightly thicker build with higher TDP for the graphics card. Ideal laptop in my opinion would be M16 with a CNC milled body and Mini-led with 2k+ zones (OLED is gorgeous but just worry about burn in risk).

Great form factor, excellent screen and decent sound system. HDMI port is a bit glitchy and overall system stability is a little odd with armory crate, but the sheer performance when things are working right is pretty incredible as long as you don't mind extraordinarily loud fans

This laptop is almost perfect in so many ways. The speakers are the best I have ever heard (on a windows laptop), the performance is great, battery life is alright, and its super portable. The only issue I've had so far was with a faulty USB-C port. I just need to get it exchanged.

I recently got my hands on the Asus Zephyrus G16, it's been everything I hoped for updating from my 2020 G14 Gorgeous OLED Screen: The QHD+ OLED display is nothing short of breathtaking. Colors pop, blacks are deep, and the contrast is mesmerizing. Whether I’m gaming or watching movies, the screen quality is top-notch. High Refresh Rate: The 165Hz refresh rate ensures buttery-smooth gameplay. Beastly Specs: With an Intel Core i9 13900H processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU, this laptop is a powerhouse. The 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD provide ample space and lightning-fast performance. Loved easily adding in a second 4TB ssd to up the storage. Nice Keyboard: The RGB backlit keyboard is a joy to type on. The keys are responsive, and the customizable lighting is sweet. The Only Quirk: Now, let’s address the issue you mentioned. There seems to be a hiccup when booting with a USB-C hub plugged in. Sometimes, the laptop doesn’t boot properly. It gets stuck during the startup process. I haven't figured out the Bios setting that will prevent it from hanging hard. With the supplied power strip it works just fine. Plug in the USB-C hub after booting up. It seems to prevent any conflicts during startup. Final Verdict: Despite this minor quirk, the Asus Zephyrus G16 (2024) is a beast of a gaming laptop. If you’re serious about performance, stunning visuals, and a killer keyboard, this is the one to get. Just remember to follow the workaround, and you’ll be in gaming nirvana!

Good performance for thin form factor, screen is cool, but very fragile. Extreemly clean looking laptop. The single cnc aluminum body is super nice. Minimal keyboard flex. Feels like a windows version of a mac almost.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus (2024, RTX 4080) Review

I recently owned the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16, and overall, it was a fantastic machine. The screen is absolutely incredible—its OLED QHD display with a 240Hz refresh rate truly brings games and media to life with stunning clarity and smooth visuals. The keyboard has a satisfying, tactile feel, and the overall design of the laptop is sleek and modern. That said, the laptop isn’t without its flaws. While gaming, I experienced noticeable thermal throttling, which sometimes hampered performance during extended sessions. Battery life was another letdown; as a student who needs to work unplugged for hours, the short battery life just couldn’t keep up with my daily demands. Ultimately, I decided to return it because I needed a machine that could reliably support my mobile lifestyle. However, if you plan to keep it plugged in at your desk, this laptop can be an absolute beast. With a cooling pad to help manage the heat, it would likely be nearly perfect. In summary, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is a high-performance gaming laptop with an amazing display and design, but its thermal and battery limitations might be a deal-breaker for those needing portability.

What a powerhouse of a gaming laptop

I believe I have found the laptop that suits all my gaming and photo editing needs. I love gaming and have been looking for a laptop that has top specs for running the newest games in high quality. On the other end, with all the photo editing I do I also need to be able to run the latest editing software. This ROG Zephyrus is a perfect blend of gaming and business. The specs that caught my attention the most are as follows: -16" OLED with 240hz refresh rate and 2k resolution (2560 x 1600). This really makes for great high definition gaming on high quality settings and for clean dark blacks. -Intel Core Ultra 9 and 32GB Memory for heavy editing or multimedia use and running multiple applications -Nvidia RTX4080 will allow for high quality video settings in game, which for a laptop of this size is impressive. Some thoughtful mentions that make the experience worth it are: -Very nice keyboard layout and large trackpad make for a great typing experience. -Asus Armoury Crate software is a very useful program to monitor and manage everything from RGB lighting (Aura Sync) and slash lighting, edit profiles, and GPU settings. -Speaker system is on par for decent listening. There isn't anything really to take a star off of this. Me being nit picky, I feel like the hinge on the display when opened does not feel solid. It allows for some play when typing on a uneven surface and when you look at the webcam you can see the video bounce around some.

Great computer from a performance standpoint. Gets hot but managable. Biggest concern is durability. My computer has creaking noise with a small amount of flex on the bottom panel where the screen and bottom meet. Not sure if it's normal on this model, but for a computer that's over 2K, this should not happen. I will likely return it for this reason. If that's not a big deal for you, then go for it!

Incredible laptop! I do gaming and 4k video editing on it and it does that without any issues in davinci resolve. Also not really sure why some people comment on the fan noise. This is on par with virtually every other gaming laptop out there with fan noise, and in my opinion maybe a little quieter. I also don't use turbo mode simply because you don't need to, performance mode is plenty for gaming and work, and silent mode is great for any kind of productivity and web browsing. Gets hot on the deck near the screen, but not at all near the trackpad and most of the keyboard. Underneath can get hot as well, but that's to be expect with an all aluminum chasis. Great laptop all around.

Crazy build quality, maxes out everything I throw at it. Insane screen. Only problem so far when I turn it on it gets stuck on the asus rog logo and I have to turn it back on and off and after a few minutes it'll randomly boot into windows. I wish there was a way to turn off the asus boot. Tried going into the bios but it was super laggy. I updated all the motherboard bios and everything. Still have the issue. But its a beast for sure no regrets

Generally a great computer with great display and good performance. Only issues I have is the screen had a hairline crack one day randomly when I opened my laptop, and while performance is normally great, the laptop has issues from it often overheating so I had to pay over $100 for a cooler fan to put under it just so it doesn’t constantly over heat. I play with the crack as it isn’t super noticeable and the fan has fixed the over heating so with those work arounds its great, but having a giant fan you need certainly makes it less portable defeating the whole purpose of me getting a laptop instead of a desktop.

A stunning laptop with a lot of power a gorgeous OLED screen, but to get it where you need to get it to go it takes a lot of tweaking even down to the registry level. Once you get it there then the fan and the thermal performance are fine. Battery Life, if you’re gaming is not great but can be pretty decent if you’re just doing productivity work and some video viewing. All in all though I do love it but to get it to where I needed to get it to go and control the heat and fans took quite a bit of work.

Considering I updated from a 2017 MSI with a 1060, this is leaps and bounds above what I'm used to. The speaker sound quality is excellent and the OLED display is gorgeous. It's handled everything I've thrown at it. It does get rather hot just above the keyboard when gaming with the settings cranked up. I put it on a cooling mat and it's just fine. I don't get any thermal throttling. For everyday tasks, it runs for ages on battery. I could do a full day of work and watch a movie after and it'll still have some juice left.

I would of given it a perfect score. My issue is the fact they hide its a Max Q version of the gpu. Even though its a 4080 like my other laptop. It runs way slower, because the other laptop uses 175w for the gpu vs 115w. If Asus reads this, please add that 10w hidden by a manual overclock to Turbo. The other reason for 1 less star is NO wifi 7, really!
