    While a computer would ideally work well for ten years or more, like a car, consumers seem to be resigned to replacing their sluggish and obsolete laptops in less than half that time. Now imagine buying a computer that degrades to that state in 18 months. For the price, and given its emphasis on being a gaming computer, I figured this was a good bet for speed and reliability under strain. Welcome to the reality of Asus. Within a week, normal use at medium brightness burned bright blotches into the screen. Within a month, the speakers began to faulter. Now, nearly 18 months to the day since my purchase, the speakers are nearly shot, offering broken and spotty versions of my favorite songs, the battery dies after a couple hours of web browsing, and its responsiveness to basic commands, like wake up, is faltering. I don't know what makes this a gaming computer, but I was betting on performance. Short of some kind of supercomputer that scientists need to replicate biological or galactical systems, I figured the next best thing was the hardware the gaming nerds rely on for quality video, sound, and speed. The plethora of options on the market and my general tech un-savviness forced me to play the odds, so I rolled the dice on the brand that claimed sovereignty on this front. Game over me apparently.

    Not Cool Enough

    Horrible cooling, even with a high end cooling pad and running 2 klips for additional vent speed... fan died after having it for 12 months. I don't recommend these thing laptops for higher-end games with extensive graphics.

    No charger included

    I ordered the open box option, but it did not come with a charger.. I don't know how a charger can possibly considered unessential. Without it the computer is $1100 brick. I doubt I will be buying from best buy again.
