Great Gaming Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I actually purchased two of these, one for work and one for games exclusively and was immediately impressed by the quality and durable feel. It's also suprisingly light for how powerful it is. This laptop is super cool and was a huge upgrade to my previous HP envy. The only thing I didn't like was that 2 of the 3 USB plug ins are right where a mouse would normally be. On the plus side though, there is a bump on the "w" key to help keep your hand in the REAL home position if you are playing games.

Boot up time is lightning fast, screen is better then most television sets I have looked into recently, and tho most may say the fans are loud when they kick into turbo mode I find the sound quite calming!!!!

Sad to say but this laptop has been a pain overall

On paper this laptop is a great buy both in price and specs, and when it's working its great but unfortunately I've had tons of problems. Problems: left side fan was making clicking sound idle temps are too high crashes randomly sometimes not for a week, and then will start crashing constantly if NVidia control panel is set to "high performance NVidia processor" it puts this weird fuzz on the screen it randomly stops outputting to my monitor What I've done to try and fix the issues: Sent it in to be fixed at Best Buy all they did was replace the fan weirdly that fixed the higher idle temps but now that CPU temps are way higher underload I've clean it I reinstalled the Asus software and windows as well as a full reformat twice. reformatting it seems to temporarily fix some of the issues

We do understand your concern about thermal issues and the inconvenience this may have caused.
It is normal for the CPU, with the same hardware configuration and regardless of the manufacturer, to generate more heat than normal while WINDOWS Update antivirus scan or other applications are running in the background. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle. Please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. While gaming, please ensure no resource hungry applications are running in the background, this will definitely spike the temperature. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down.

DO NOT BUY

I was excited to get my hands on this computer because I saw it as one of the better computers for all-around gaming and work, as it is. But this computer was poorly made and could use a lot of work in the battery department. I got this computer around 5 months ago, I didn't use it until around 1 1/2 months in, around the 3-month mark the battery stopped working and the computer wouldn't work at all, I was irritated but understood, so I sent the computer in for repairs. After this, I ended up getting the computer back and have been using it for around a week and a half now and I'm continuing to have the same problems I was having before. A poorly made computer and was rushed. I now don't know what to do and I need a computer for school but I won't soon because this computer's battery is so disposable at this point. I have to unplug and replug the power cord randomly when the computer decides it doesn't want to charge and I assume it will eventually break again. A poorly made computer and destroyed my standards for Asus. Time to get even more behind on work and school, going pc-less.

Serviceable for FPS games.

Now that that is out of the way, I still think it is a serviceable gaming laptop for older games of modern FPS games, but overall a disappointing purchase if you want it for newer open world games and RPGs.

Laptop keyboard lights on but screen is off

I have a bit of experience with pcs and the basic fixes did not work. Everything is intact and it appears i had a soft aware problem. Problems: i kept getting a glitchy frozen screen, multiple blue screens, crashed while gaming in the few minutes i was able to download and play. Currently the pc wont turn on except for the keyboard. I keep force resetting it and nothing works. I even gave it time and waited a night. Im very disappointed and don’t think ill be buying Asus again. The good features are pointless if the computer wont even turn on. I do not recommend this laptop.

1. Push the power button and tap on "F2"
2. Once in the BIOS, tap "F9" and select "Yes"

Poor Lifespan

I believe certain essential parts were made poorly to lower production cost. The GPU temp passes 100 degrees C and CPU temp goes above 90 when gaming. Not worth it!!

Not the quality you’re use to
