Customers are delighted by the ROG Zephyrus M16's impressive performance, stunning QHD display, and excellent graphics capabilities. Many appreciate its lightweight design and consider it a great value for the price. However, some users have noted concerns regarding its heat generation, battery life, and fan noise. The lack of an Ethernet port is also a recurring point of feedback.

This laptop is a MONSTER. I cannot say enough good things about the performance, battery life, ease of use, upgradability, and build quality of the machine. There's just one hitch. The built-in speakers are garbage, at least until the appropriate software and drivers are installed. In order to make the most of the built-in audio, users have to go to Asus' download center to install the latest Realtek driver, Intel SST, and Asus' Cirrus Smart Amp driver. Out of the box, I thought there was something wrong with the speakers. I purchased an open-box unit and thought they might be damaged. I bought a brand new unit and found it had the same problem: quiet, slightly distorted, and all around terrible speakers. I thought it was just a flaw in the design. After installing all of the additional and optional audio software and drivers, I found the built-in audio to be excellent. However, in light of all of the extra effort to accomplish that, I'm taking one star off an otherwise 5-star computer. If you come across one of these on sale, get it before it's gone.

I bought this as a little tool to learn engine dumping. Upgraded the RAM and ssd for 300 total, and this thing is an actual good gaming machine. Im able to have a game running normally and also have a VM with the same game loaded and its able to keep up with both being dumped simultaneously. The i9 and 4070 definitely go together. You may want to invest in a cooling solution if you want to use this primarily as a gaming pc.

For a laptop I am impressed with the power and speed, but the fan noise is very prevalent and you 100% need headphones, preferably with noise canceling. It absolutely powers through even my most demanding games. (The witcher 3, GTA 5, Mordhau and war thunder just to name a few). But will get progressively louder the longer you play. Id recommend a laptop cooling pad and high quality headphones. (Which is another $200 at least). I bought this because I travel for work and suited my needs for research and gaming. But i also didnt put a significant amount of time into research and there may be better options. PROS- *VERY fast out of the gate *easily one of the thiner laptops I looked into *upgradable if necessary for future use. *easy to optomize and customizable. (Comes with armoury crate for wallpapers, keyboard lighting patterns and skins) CONS- *Very very loud when running a demanding game *price and accessories are absolutely required *for the price, if you aren't in the market for only a laptop, you could build or buy a monstrous custom PC that would out last and be WAY more powerful for far less. Only buy if you NEED a laptop like I did. Otherwise spend the $1800 on a dream desktop machine that will last 5-7 years before needing to be upgraded

The laptop is has very high build quality. The ram and ssd can be upgraded. The only thing I recommend after getting this laptop is to use manual mode for fan speeds. Tubro makes the laptop fans really loud and everyone can hear them. The manual mode is quieter by a little and still sometimes come out with higher performance. For the money I highly recommend this laptop.

This purchase was an upgrade from my previous Zephyrus laptop purchased 5 years ago. This version is an upgrade in every way. It was between this or the Alienware M16, but after an hour speaking with a Best Buy rep and testing the two units together, this won out for some very specific reasons. If you are buying this as a gaming laptop, the gfx cards are identical, but the screen on this unit is clearer, smoother, and had a better brightness ratio. The i9 is overkill in a laptop unless you are creating content, but the storage is not great for that purpose. I, however, loved the screen, and the other components are pretty standard across gaming laptops. Using this over the last several weeks, it's been a great purchase. Pretty quiet for a gaming laptop, keys are not too mushy (I DID prefer the typing experience on the Alienware as it felt like a true mechanical keyboard), and it was not too heavy for long treks. It feels solid. Like anything portable for gaming, invest in a chill pad or something like it to keep things cool.

Beautiful screen with outstanding clarity and color. I use it to edit videos and am quite satisfied with the way it handles the task. However, the device is very loud when the fan is running. The sound ramps up when the device is saving large files. Additionally, the battery life is very short—less than two hours.

Great laptop. New games work well on a 4070 (Remnant 2/Diablo 4). I can run these games in Ultra and still hit 60fps, but I generally run most games at medium as I can barely tell the graphical difference on a smaller screen, and I prefer framerates over graphics on most games. Screen is 240fps, and I can tell the difference between 240 and 120, but its marginal. I'd suggest limiting it to 120 to preserve battery life, or even 60 if you don't care. Does get warm to the touch after a few hours of gaming, but I have not ran into any overheating issues e.g. freezing, rebooting, BSOD, etc. Battery life is decent if you are looking for a laptop, but I would not put this up against other laptops that are more productivity based (Apple M2 Macbook, Dell Latitude, etc). I mostly have this plugged into a wall, so I really can't comment on how long it lasts, but I generally get average of 6 hours on it using it for video streaming, internet browsing, word processing. Audio is loud enough with no clipping issues at its highest volum. I generally dont care about the quality of speakers as I use a head set. A bit of bloatware, but you can uninstall. From what I read, you can add more RAM and there is an extra slot for another M.2 ssd. Overall, I like it.

Great gaming laptop that doesn’t look too gamey. Plays most modem games at 60 fps with the exception of cyberpunk. I can still get 40 fps on mostly high setting with path tracing using DLSS balanced. Laptop gets a little loud when pushed, but that was expected. Highly recommended especially if you can find an open box deal.

Compared the 2022 model vs this 2023 model and this one was worth the extra $ to me. Btw, the screen resolution is 2560x1600 vs what best buy has listed here as of my review date. Use the model # and lookup true specs on the Asus website vs relying on what's listed here. Anyway, I highly recommend this laptop! If you are pushing the power: Yes it will get hot & yes there will be fan noise (but less than the 2022 model). With great power comes great heat -- same will be true of most of these style laptops. Works great for me and my needs, tho! When not pushing the limits, it's much quieter & cooler and you'll get ok battery life out of it. You can fiddle with the settings in armoury crate to pick your trade offs, too.

Out standing laptop performance, relatively light for what you get. Runs a little warm, but not really a problem. I added a 2TB SSD and another 16GB of RAM. Totally happy with my purchase and would definitely purchase again and highly recommend this unit.

Beast of a laptop, i have a desktop at home but i been traveling a lot recently and this laptop is perfect. Only downside using a laptop is that it does get pretty hot like extremely hot, but i use a controller so its fine. I get around 100-180 fps on low/ medium setting in most games i play and the screen is pretty and smooth the color and the hertz. Oh and one more thing i like to point out is the fan gets pretty loud some people might find that annoying but i just leave my laptop at the hotel or airbnb whenever im out so it doesnt really bother me. Plus i have a noise cancellation headset. I got it for 1.6k when it was on sell for blackfriday which is still imo pretty steep but well worth if you’re on the go. I still cant get use to the small laptop screen especially when i play fps games its pretty hard to see thats because i use a 27in monitor for my pc. Other than that this laptop is awesome!! Would recommend if its on sale i wouldnt pay this at msrp tho!!

Ok this laptop is fast. In Fortnight I’m getting 350fps. The screen is awesome and looks great loving the 144hz screen. The fan does make noise when in performance mode but it’s not a deal breaker cause all gaming laptops and PCs are loud in proformance mode

Excellent value. With an i9 CPU and an RTX 4070 this laptop is a beast. I will probably upgrade the RAM to 32 GB in the near future, because I use it for work and I run some memory intense tasks. The keyboard feels great. I was afraid I would miss my old Lenovo keyboard, but it feels just as good. It does get a bit hot when gaming but it is expected. 1 extra USB A port would be nice, but using a USB C hub fixes the inconvenience. 1TB SSD is enough for almost anything you need to do. It is also pretty fast. The screen is pretty solid. I love the QHD resolution and the high framerate. Colors also look great. I haven't used it outside, so I don't know if the brightness is high enough for a sunny day. Bloatware: I don't love having so many pre-installed software, but it's common on gaming laptops. I find it kind of useless, but I know some poeple like it, so it's up to you. Definetly recommend buying this, especially when it's on sale.
