    The Asus ROG laptop is not worth the money.. I exchanged for the Acer Predator 18" screen! The Acer is a much better laptop.

    Amazing Laptop

    I love this laptop! I haven't tried running heftier games, like BG3, but she works perfectly for everything I've tried so far. I have no problems running multiple programs at once and can do just about anything I can do on my desktop, sometimes even better. I do wish I could lower the screen brightness even more, but, nonetheless, the screen quality is amazing - I've gotten multiple compliments on it already! The audio quality is also great. I do find the trackpad slow/difficult to use in some cases - namely with movement in certain games, like Honkai Star Rail. I have a wireless mouse though and can use it seamlessly between my desktop and laptop which is ideal and fixes the issue. Battery life is great when I'm streaming or browsing the web, but the second I open a game it eats up the battery. I have no issue keeping the laptop plugged in while gaming, but it could be a con for some. The fans can also get quite loud, but that's to be expected. If I'm gaming, I'm usually wearing headphones anyways, so it doesn't really bother me. Overall, the laptop is gorgeous and super powerful. I'll probably add more storage later on, but its sufficient for now. Highly recommend for casual gaming, streaming, and schoolwork.

    Got this as a backup laptop to my macbook pro, found it at a really good price on sale at BestBuy. I upgraded the RAM to 64gb (very easy to do) and have a 2TB drive waiting to go in next (need space for the AI models I'm planning on using) This system excels as a software development laptop. I have docker, vscode, visual studio 2022, rider and more running on it. I've loaded up docker with sql server, postgres, kafka, azurite and more and no hiccups seen so far. I do use it with an external monitor when developing and have seen no heat issues. Next up is running lmstudio, jan.ai and other ai software which should give the gpu a good workout. I'll post an update when that's done. Battery life isn't great, but then I don't use it without it plugged into a power source, so that doesnt bother me.

    I like this computer a lot. It's my first Asus. I really like the size, and the screen shape. I get a lot more information vertically which is helping me when I use music production daw software. The colors are vibrant, almost too vibrant. It can make pictures online look pretty fake if those pictures were edited poorly. So it's actually a good thing if you want it to point out poor hdr editing. I haven't tested the one major purpose of this machine which is gaming. It seems likely to handle most things with ease. This laptop is a powerful little guy. The 4070 card it has is 8gb vram though, not the 12gb in the specs listed. I knew that beforehand so I'm ok. I did add another tb of ssd and another 16gb ram, bringing this up to 2 tb of storage and 32 gb of ram. It wasn't expensive and well worth it to me. This does bring me to one issue I came across. The screw in the empty ssd m.2 slot was stripped so it was difficult to remove. Other than that I've had no issues. There's not much or any bloatware at all. It reminded me of my old acer nitro 5 in that regards. Great upgrade. Speakers are decent. Cooling is decent. I'm extremely happy with it.

    Great Bang for the Buck

    This is honestly a really nice laptop with great bang for the buck. It has an outstanding GPU/CPU combination with a great quality screen. I wish that it came with slightly more RAM but that's easy enough to add on yourself, it comes with one RAM stick installed but has space for a 2nd slot. The only negative I have on this laptop is be mindful of the USB-A/C slot availability, not as many as I'm used to so had to buy an adaptor for all my accessories.

    Purchased this at discount as an open box which was a stroke of luck as it's already good value for money, it arrived within two days and in perfect condition. So 5 stars to Best Buy. Now onto the laptop itself. Personally I think the 4070 iteration of this is the best of the three. There doesnt seem to be any point in spending way more just to get the 4090 when it's limited by the CPU, and the 4080 is only marginally better at a fairly significant bump in price. The ability to upgrade the RAM and SSD are a huge benefit as well as I intend on hosting both Windows and Linux. This laptop allows for max RAM of 64gb and 2tb of storage so you cant go wrong there. It also isnt as large as I thought it was gonna be so its perfectly fine for travel. The screen is fantastic. Crystal clear, great colour, no dead pixels, very narrow bezels, and perfectly sized for gaming. The keyboard is very comfortable to use with the keys spaced at the right distance, for my hands at least. It also doesnt seem to heat up too much when gaming. As for its gaming performance its brilliant. I'm not looking to chase records with my FPS or anything like that. All that matters to me is can it play any game at a high and consistent frame rate (>=60) with ray tracing at a high resolution, and the answer is absolutley yes. I played the new Resident Evil 4 demo at its highest settings and it handled it really well. There were some very minor frame drops but slight setting adjustments will sort that out no problem. The fans do get a bit loud but that's expected in a laptop and nothing crazy. It also has more than enought power to perform any photo or video editing tasks you need. No lag or stuttering when using Affinity creative software. When UPS droped this off it was freezing outside so when I opened the box the laptop was so cold I thought it was metal. It felt like a premium build. Unfortunately as it warmed the metal feeling disapated and the plastic build became apparent. Despite that the thing is solid and to me isn't worth the extra money to buy something like a Razor for that metal chassis. But nevertheless it would have been great to have it. The only real negative is that this thing is a supermagnet for finger prints. After a days use it would look an absolute mess. But it's easy enough to clean if you have a micro fibre cloth and some cleaning solution. I would definitely advice that. It doesnt have an ethernet port so that might be an issue for some. The battery life is also abysmal, especially when I compare it to my Macbook but it's a gaming laptop! What do you expect? So I cant really count that as a negative. Would 100% recommened this to anyone. Great value and for the next few years you wont have any issues playing anything.

    Worse designed laptop I've ever bought, will never buy another ASUS. The keyboard has to be one of the worse keyboards I've ever used. it's cramped into the middle of the laptop instead of using the extra 2 inches of space that are on both sides. The screen opens and wraps around the back of the laptop, so the heat vents blow right onto the screen ricocheting back at the user, and pair that with the heat vents facing upwards on both sides of the keyboard my hands dry out after long nights of gaming. The first few months of owning the laptop anytime I would open the lid it would completely freeze all programs after 30 seconds, and I would have to restart the laptop. The one USB port on the right side of the laptop is near the front which makes anyone using a wired mouse with the laptop need to work around the cord or make that usb port obsolete. Anytime you turn on the laptop it makes a loud sound when displaying the logo. It's effective at running games, but has awful quality of life.
