Customers are saying
Customers commend the ROG Zephyrus M16 for its impressive performance, stunning display, and crisp graphics. However, some users report experiencing significant fan noise and heat generation, particularly during gaming. Concerns were also raised regarding battery life and the keyboard's design. While the lightweight design is appreciated, potential buyers should consider these trade-offs.

Balance of power and portability
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a review of the M16 with an i9 12900H, RTX 3070ti, 1 TB M.2 SSD, 16 GB DDR5 ram, 1600p screen. I’ll start with the good: What ASUS has managed to fit into such a thin chassis is astounding. The 12900H in this system is powerful enough to run just about anything. It handles games, music production, photo/video editing all incredibly well. The RTX 3070ti gets enough power here to drive some demanding games. I’ve been playing Cyberpunk 2077 on RT low settings (all ultra settings with some ray tracing features on) and been seeing between 40 - 65 FPS. In a thin and light like the M16, this is a monumental achievement. If I had to compare the laptop 3070ti to a desktop GPU, I’d say between the RTX 2050 and RTX 2060. The screen is the best I have ever used in a laptop. At 1600p, with a 16:10 aspect ratio, it looks better than my 2015 Macbook Pro, the previous best I’ve ever used. You won’t find perfect color accuracy on this panel. This screen doesn’t match the panels on the new Macbook Pro. But it’s a great panel for gaming, video consumption, and photo/video editing. I/O is solid. Multiple USB type A ports, a USB C Thunderbolt 4 port (thank you intel), headphone/microphone jack, hdmi, and a few others I can’t be bothered to mention. Drawbacks: This laptop can get very hot, too hot to use in your lap. This is only when the laptop is set to the “turbo” or “performance” setting in Armory Crate however. 90 degree celsius temperatures on the CPU at max load is very, very warm and might not be ideal for system longevity. GPU doesn’t seem to run as hot, normally maxing out at just below 80 degrees celsius. I’ve never been a fan of the Armory Crate software. It is better on the system than previous ASUS laptops I’ve owned, but it still can be a sluggish, buggy mess sometimes. A note about the GPU: I believe the RTX 3070ti has a TDP of ~100 watts and can run higher (~105 or 110 watts) with Nvidia's “Dynamic Boost” enabled. This specific GPU is in diminishing returns territory. The 3070ti isn’t being supplied enough power to fully take advantage of the hardware. If you want the extra 5-10% of performance out of the GPU consider a laptop with ~125 to 130 watts of GPU TDP The GPU is still a beast for what it is and will stand head and shoulders above current consoles. 4/5 laptop for my use case, will be 5/5 for most people.

A bit pricey, but you get the performance you pay.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An amazing piece of tech. The pure performance crammed into this somewhat thin and light notebook is incredible. I have had several OLED notebooks and the screen on this, while not being OLED, is close to it and the brightness just makes it pop even more. The only downside is that it takes some time to get it to run somewhat cool without blasting the fans. With the right customization, it can be done. Its a bit pricey, but you get the performance you pay for with this notebook.

Perfect for the gamer-artist
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first gaming laptop, so it was a real pleasure finally being able to play games in anything other than the lowest graphics settings. This laptop is beautiful and the screen is stunning and large enough to satisfy any creative professional. The only downsides I have about this laptop is everything you've probably already heard about: it runs hot, and the hot air from the fans blows directly on the screen. Additionally, it is a fingerprint magnet. But I knew this already from research and decided that it was worth it because this laptop provides the perfect balance for someone who wants to game, use creative software, and is on the go.

Great gaming laptop for the size, love the screen.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Gaming laptops are never the best way to go for price to performance, but if you need a powerful machine that can be easily transported, this laptop does a great job. I was very surprised by how thin it is while still packing so much power. Battery life isn't great (I averaged about 4 hours of usage not gaming), but that is to be expected from a gaming laptop. The screen is very nice, and the extra height compared to a standard 16:9 display is very welcome compared to many laptops that just put a large bezel on the bottom. When opening the lid, the back of the device sits up a bit to give more airflow. Not a problem, just something interesting to note.

Great buy
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great laptop better then i thought even the reviews i saw on it on youtube didnt do it justice it performs better then a full PC these 12900hk cpus are powerful. Only thing is if gaming and you set to turbo the fans get loud but with headset you shouldnt have any issues. The 3070 ti on this is laptop paired with 12900hk makes this laptop comparable to a 12600 pc with 3060/3070 gpu most peoplr dont have this set up on pcs let alone on a laptop all games i play are playable at 1600p with 60+ fps. I have even seen 200 frames on fort nite but with 165hz monitor 165fps is where the sweet spot is. If planing on using on battery u will not be gaming long as these are designes to be powered max 2.5hrs. If using for coding can get more aslong as gpu is not being pushed.

Excellent Gaming Laptop.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop is portable and powerful. it has an excellent display with crisp vivid colors perfect for daily use and powerful enough for most gaming needs. I played Cold War through HDMI to my TV, max settings on 4k and it was able to keep a steady 60 fps. My only complaint is that it does run hot just doing daily tasks like working on a paper and searching the web. Battery life i never care for as i always have my laptops pluged in. The face recognition was also very easy to use and set up similar to using an iphone.

Amazing laptop.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing laptop! Super fast, amazing display and I love it in general. The things that I don't like: fingerprints, it could get really hot and the fans can be super loud. But for the power that it has, I understand that.

Can get a bit hot, but absolutely worth it.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I saw that there was a bunch of controversy surrounding this laptop. Instead of a single stick of 16 gb ddr5 ram soldered to the board, the Best Buy model gets 8 gb soldered on and an 8 gb stick in a slot that fits up to 32 gb ddr5. People were mad, review bombing, and apparently returning these. I decided to jump on the opportunity and buy one of the returned laptops in excellent condition. I am so glad I did. This screen is amazing. Bright, colorful, responsive; basically everything I could want at a discount. I have been using a cooling pad with mine (highly recommend)and haven't seen CPU temps jump pass the low 80's on full load. Have only been playing CoD so far, but the performance is a bit less than my desktop (i7-9700 & rtx 2080). Framerates range from 120-150 fps with dlss balanced in CoD Vanguard and Warzone. The custom fan profiles are not very good, I generally just hover between performance and turbo mode. Loud fan noise is an issue, but I play with headphones on and can't hear them at all. All in all, this seems like a pretty good price for what you get. I'm in love with mine and was happy to take advantage of the controversy. Can't wait to put my Samsung 980 pro in there this weekend.

Powerful Gaming Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Form factor is good with great graphics and power, but it does get fairly warm. Fans do move the heat out, feels like I have a portable heater going. The fan noise is not a big problem and can be overcome by wearing headphones. Battery life is not great in comparison to my MacBook, but given the power and graphics, not a surprise, but definitely requires an AC outlet for gaming sessions over 2 hours. Haven’t tested battery life with lower graphics loads, would assume it would be better.

Battery last really long
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am still using this laptop for on the go tasks and livestreaming using vMix. It's a great laptop for the money. Few things though. The vMix takes a lot longer to start up cpmpared to my other laptops. When you switch between power and battery the screen goes off for few seconds. But the battery lasts forever.

Just What I Was Looking For
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As my ASUS ROG became outdated, I began to review available laptops on the market, within a certain price range of course. As the list narrowed and pretty much deciding on the ASUS ROG Zephyrus, the laptop went on sale. Having utilized the laptop and gaming, I am extremely satisfied in the purchase. The laptop has exceeded my expectations and easily performs as anticipated. The laptop easily handles the latest games including Modern Warfare 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 at the max settings. I am a longtime ASUS ROG customer, this being my fifth unit, to date, I have no complaints. Laptops are a substantial these days and purchasing in the midst of ever changing advancements and updates, it can be a little overwhelming, I am very satisfied with this laptop and would recommend it highly to one looking to upgrade while remaining budget conscious.

Bestbuy Gave me $5 in Rewards to write a Review
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop itself is almost entirely positives. Performance is obviously great. The casing is higher quality than I was expecting, and the holes with the reflective material are less gaudy than I expected (a good thing). The soft coating on the inside does pick up grease perhaps a little faster than metal would, but the trade off is that its more comfortable and you don't stick to the metal while typing for long periods. Just wipe it down every once and a while and you'll be fine. I was satisfied with the keyboard. It's not as clicky as like a surface book or a spectre, but its closer to them than some of the softer, mushier laptop keyboards. Trackpad is huge and the glass(?) top is very responsive. Screen is super vibrant and the aspect ratio and thin bezels combine to make it feel larger than it is. It can also get maddeningly bright, and while I use my surface book on max brightness, I have to crank this laptop down to comfortably use indoors. The two biggest negatives are 1: fan noise and 2: backlight bleed. 1: The fans, particularly on turbo, get loud. You can however change settings to quieter for class or work environments. It does not bother me whatsoever, the fan controls solve the issue for my use, but if you want to run something complicated and still have your laptop be silent look elsewhere. 2: There's some backlight bleed. It's only noticeable on black or near-black colors, but with how bright this thing gets, it can be more noticeable than on similar displays that aren't as bright. The thin bezels don't help, and I've noticed through a week or two of use that the bleed varies. Some days its unnoticeable unless I dim the lights and and crank the brightness up. Others its noticeable during regular use and spreads relatively far, though this is less common. I would recommend either using the exchange period to gauge the bleed on your unit and swap it out for another unit if that specific one has too much, or get the protection plan, which I have been informed will cover excessive backlight bleed if it becomes an issue for you. It's absolutely not a deal killer, but it's perhaps the only problem I personally have with the laptop. Overall, it's an excellent device, should let you do pretty much whatever you want, just be aware of device to device QC issues in the screen and be aware of your exchange time window, just in you draw the short straw,

Best Gaming Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 gaming laptop, and without a doubt, it deserves a glowing 5-star review. From the moment I fired it up, I was captivated by its raw power and impressive performance. The Intel Core i9 processor combined with 16GB of DDR5 memory ensured smooth multitasking and lightning-fast responsiveness. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics card took my gaming sessions to new heights, with stunning visuals and silky-smooth frame rates. The 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD provided ample storage space for my games and files, while also delivering rapid load times. The 16-inch 165Hz display was a visual feast, with vibrant colors and buttery-smooth motion. Not to mention, the sleek design of the laptop added a touch of elegance. Overall, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 is an absolute powerhouse that exceeded my expectations, and I wholeheartedly give it a well-deserved 5-star rating.

This thing ROCKS
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I got this device on a whim and I’m not regretting it. The thing is an absolute beast with the power of my previous desktop but on my lap. Runs all games at a great frame rate with some fantastic display and it also feels physically appealing. It’s got what you want and need if you’re looking to play any game from RuneScape - Tarkov - Call Of Duty. Now asking on the cons of this device there are two issues I’m not surprised or upset about. That’s the fan noise at certain times but it’s completely understandable. Second is the battery life, which again is understandable. But those are minimal issues comared to the overall capabilities of this great device.
