Customers are saying

Customers commend the ROG Zephyrus M16 for its impressive performance, stunning display, and crisp graphics. However, some users report experiencing significant fan noise and heat generation, particularly during gaming. Concerns were also raised regarding battery life and the keyboard's design. While the lightweight design is appreciated, potential buyers should consider these trade-offs.

Had this model since Feb 2023, and has exceeded all expectations. Just remember that this laptop squeezes a lot of power into a small unit and can be loud when playing games in turbo mode (plugged in), however battery life is decent when running in eco mode surfing and doing word processing. But you can utilize silent mode for a extremely quiet experience. Great buy, lots of power.

This is my dedicated laptop that I only use for Video/Photo editing. The machine does not get too hot like the others ones I had doing the same rendering. Temps stay in the 80's even in turbo mode using a laptop fan cooler. Keep it in silent mode and the temps stay in the 70's doing the same renders. I can upscale video or photos in silent mode without any noticeable slow downs.

Other than the memory issue that is well documented at this point, this thing rocks. I use this as a DD and there is no fan noise during non gaming usage. When your gaming its a completely different animal. You better have good noise cancelling headphones. Performance is fantastic gaming so far. No light bleeding on mine. The surface is a fingerprint / smudge magnet especially if your on the oily/greasy side. SSD is PCIe 3 slow, but upgradeable.

Decent gaming laptop for the price. Battery life will always be something to miss with windows laptops. You have to mess with multiple settings to save battery. Instead of having a overall battery saver mode.

Part of this rating is because I happened to get it when there was a great deal going on ($1399). The specs are great for this price, and it's also got a great keyboard and screen. Webcam is just okay. My big complaint is that it gets really hot when gaming, but it hasn't become a major issue for me so far. I'd give it 4.5 stars if they allowed half stars.

Fan keeps it from overheating. The graphics are nice. Im new to the gaming community but feel this is a well made nice laptop that suits my needs. Inly frudtrating thing ive run into is in chat gaming- it doesnt pick up my voice for games or xbox party. Im sure im overlooking a setting because im so new but i wish it was an easy find/fix

This is actually a great computer in a lot of ways. It is very powerful and I love the screen, keyboard, and weight. Unfortunately my requirement is that I need a minimum of 48gb of ram and since this an odd model for Best Buy with 8gb on board and 8gb slotted it doesn’t meet my requirements. It is too bad that Asus felt the need to give Best Buy a downgraded version of the laptop. I also have intermittent issues with the 3070ti when the laptop gets hot. I am very disappointed.

      Dear Pieceofchum,

Absolutely, it is a great laptop that is powerful and really cool aesthetic.

We do understand your concern about thermal issues. It is normal for the laptop, with the same hardware configuration and regardless of the manufacturer, to generate more heat than normal while under heavy load especially during gaming. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle. Please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. While gaming, please ensure no resource hungry applications are running in the background, this will definitely spike the temperature. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down. The laptop comes with 2 configuration with RAM onboard, 8GB which BestBuy only sell and a 16GB RAM chip soldered on the motherboard.

Should you need further assistance with the product, please email me at [email protected] and I would be more than happy to help.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

      Regards,

      Rodel

The other reviews sum it up. This is a great balance of speed and form factor. It's almost exactly the same size as the current Macbook Pros. If I could, I'd take half a star off for the size of the power brick. It's still pretty small for how much power it puts out, but I wish it wasn't as bulky. The good news is you can run this laptop off of a smaller power brick that uses USB-C when just doing productivity work. I would prefered to have Win10, but so far Win 11 isn't too terrible. The soldered 8GB RAM is unfortunate, but I knew it was a thing going in, so I can't really complain. The little bit of gaming I've been able to do so far has been giving great performance, especially with an added 980 Pro SSD.

Great Laptop - Wouldn't Buy Open Box Again

I agree about the quality control issues. I bought an open box model and the screen had terrible backlight bleed issues that was only noticeable in certain light. I returned it for a brand new one and so far, no issues. I'm giving it five stars because the brand new one is great, but I caution not to buy open box due to the quality issues.
