Customers are saying

Customers commend the ROG Zephyrus M16 for its impressive performance, stunning display, and crisp graphics. However, some users report experiencing significant fan noise and heat generation, particularly during gaming. Concerns were also raised regarding battery life and the keyboard's design. While the lightweight design is appreciated, potential buyers should consider these trade-offs.

I've been extremely happy with my purchase. Everything runs great and the rgb keyboard and custom screen options are pretty neat. Only complaint is the battery drains pretty quick if running games or similar programs.

I’m not one to make review but I can’t express how much I absolutely love this laptop! I was a bit hesitant spending this much and how it would compare to my home build system and this laptop did not disappoint! I would recommend this to those looking for a long term laptop and have already recommended this to family and friends!

This is actually a great computer in a lot of ways. It is very powerful and I love the screen, keyboard, and weight. Unfortunately my requirement is that I need a minimum of 48gb of ram and since this an odd model for Best Buy with 8gb on board and 8gb slotted it doesn’t meet my requirements. It is too bad that Asus felt the need to give Best Buy a downgraded version of the laptop. I also have intermittent issues with the 3070ti when the laptop gets hot. I am very disappointed.

      Dear Pieceofchum,

Absolutely, it is a great laptop that is powerful and really cool aesthetic.

We do understand your concern about thermal issues. It is normal for the laptop, with the same hardware configuration and regardless of the manufacturer, to generate more heat than normal while under heavy load especially during gaming. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle. Please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. While gaming, please ensure no resource hungry applications are running in the background, this will definitely spike the temperature. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down. The laptop comes with 2 configuration with RAM onboard, 8GB which BestBuy only sell and a 16GB RAM chip soldered on the motherboard.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

    Amazing hardware, awful screen.

I've been an Asus Fan since I first purchased my P4S8X motherboard, and have owned laptops and other Asus products over the years. However, I cannot recommend their laptops at this time. I purchased and exchanged their TuF series ones due to severe backlight bleeding. So I figured, surely the top end M16 with a significantly better screen can't be that bad. Well I was wrong.. I purchased this model while it was on sale. It played all my games with over 100fps, had plenty of built in storage, upgradable ram on such a small form factor, and the screen... well the colors are great ( except for one unit where the "black" was so washed it was more like a gray) but everything else was beautiful, sharp, and crisp, with two units easily having 500nit brightness. Now the downside is... every single unit had backlight bleeding that progressed worse and worse. My first unit had it REALLY bad. I exchanged it for another which had more backlight bleeding spots, but to a much lesser degree. I decided to try one more time and purchased another so I could bring it home and compare, and low and behold it too had worse bleeding, and a very dark screen. I returned it immediately, and thought, maybe I could live with the second unit. Well the backlight bleeding progressed to the point that the top right corner started to bleed, and the entire bottom left corner of the screen had become extremely bad. Mind you I was extremely delicate, didn't move, or do anything to the laptop/screen at all. It just happened on its own. That kinda ruined it for me altogether. I will also note the third model has some weird smell, and crazy bad thermals in the laptop and the charger. The quality control department for Asus laptops must be on strike, because out of all the brands I've owned, none were this bad. I had such high hopes for this too. I honestly cannot recommend this laptop, unless you simply don't mind backlight bleeding.

      Dear Kjfam,

It's great to know that you are an ASUS fan.

We certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused. All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, the backlight bleeding on the screen is a random problem. ASUS provides warranty coverage for the product. We recommend that you send the product in for service in order to determine if this is a hardware issue so this may be resolved immediately. A RMA number is required to send it in for service. For RMA details, please go to: https://www.asus.com/us/support/article/818/. So I got this to use a 3d scanner I have not had any issues with this laptop. I have not pushed it to its full potential as far as video games go. I’m excited to have it and highly recommend. It is a little loud when running apps that use a lot of memory or video card but I usually have headphones on so t doesn’t really matter.

Great Laptop - Wouldn't Buy Open Box Again

I agree about the quality control issues. I bought an open box model and the screen had terrible backlight bleed issues that was only noticeable in certain light. I returned it for a brand new one and so far, no issues. I'm giving it five stars because the brand new one is great, but I caution not to buy open box due to the quality issues.

The other reviews sum it up. This is a great balance of speed and form factor. It's almost exactly the same size as the current Macbook Pros. If I could, I'd take half a star off for the size of the power brick. It's still pretty small for how much power it puts out, but I wish it wasn't as bulky. The good news is you can run this laptop off of a smaller power brick that uses USB-C when just doing productivity work. I would prefered to have Win10, but so far Win 11 isn't too terrible. The soldered 8GB RAM is unfortunate, but I knew it was a thing going in, so I can't really complain. The little bit of gaming I've been able to do so far has been giving great performance, especially with an added 980 Pro SSD.

Very good laptop reinstall windows 11 from ISO not sure what ASUS did but its very glitchy. PRO: Runs games fantastic, screen very bright and clear, keyboard is great feeling Cons: Running any VM's is not great, HEAT HEAT HEAT really wish they could get power management better for simple tasks like streaming or browsing web, Battery life is bad just watching netflix maybe 2/3 hours max. The fans spin up pretty randomly to kill the heat. Reinstall windows fresh from MS fixes most problems. Yes I would buy this laptop agian just wish ASUS had better image they were putting on here.

Replace my aging desktop with this machine. Battery life leave a a bit to be desired but that’s to be expected with the video card sucking so much power. Works well for streaming and video editing. If you can find it on sale I wouldn’t hesitate to grab one if it fits your needs.

I travel for a living so sold my asus g15 advantage and got this... Better performance, easier to carry... nobody talks about the power bricks but this 240W with a flexible cord is so much nicer to pack than the 280W from the advantage edition and doesn't even compare to the massive 300W the legion comes with... Please don't buy a thin and light with a 12th gen I9 then complain the fans are loud... game with headphones... If you want/need something portable this laptop is awesome, for someone who doesn't carry the laptop too much you may check out the strix g15

The computer sells for $2,150, and I saw it on sale for $1,500 and let me tell you that the deal was totally worth it, the i9 and the powerful RTX 3070 ti at 120w you can play for favorite games on ultra with high fps. Pros: 60+ fps on ultra and raytracing on some of the newer games. (I say some because there are few you might have to go high instead of ultra, and tweak some settings to get 60fps) Competitive games, not problem you are gonna get 165+ fps Screen is beautiful with the 16:10 500* nits Speakers are amazing Keyboard is also really good ROG signature is also really good and easy to use. Cons: it’s a gaming computer and it obviously going to be loud, but who doesn’t use headphones when gaming? It gets warm but not hot like many say in their reviews, at least not playing Dead Space and Howarts or Fortnite Overall it’s a great machine if you get a deal and let me tell you I am way happier with this laptop than I was with my Razer Blade 3070, So if you can, get it !!!

Love this laptop. As reviewed on the Youtube Channel Short Circuit, this laptop's keyboard is just top tier! The battery life on Ultimate (MUX Enabled, dedicated GPU Only) is super low, maybe about an hour. However, on standard or optmized mode, the laptop can run about 4 hours well! The touchpad is large and super great to use and the audio is STELLAR! Definetely configure Dolby Sound and set the soundstage to wide and it is incredible. I highly recommend this laptop, but note: 1. This doesn't qualify for ASUS extended warranty and must be bought through Best Buy instead 2. The Build quality is mostly great, but one corner started freying a bit within 2 months of purchasing it but never spread further. 3. The laptop get's loud enough to lift a small cat when in Turbo mode but this is definetely worth it as it allows for higher clocks on the GPU and CPU when running. Silent mode is also available for less FPS. 4. RGB is not per key which is definetely disappointing. 5. Screen is NOT HDR. It is an 8-bit panel with HDR decoding through Dolby Vision
