Customers commend the ROG Zephyrus M16 for its impressive performance, stunning display, and crisp graphics. However, some users report experiencing significant fan noise and heat generation, particularly during gaming. Concerns were also raised regarding battery life and the keyboard's design. While the lightweight design is appreciated, potential buyers should consider these trade-offs.

This is a strong gaming laptop. In terms of this machine the graphics are hard to match.
Positives:
Graphics are hard to match on a gaming laptop. They were buttery smooth.
It has a good use of screen size.
The battery life can last a good amount of time while playing games.
I was able to open more then 800 tabs on this computer at one time. If productivity and gaming is what you are looking for this is the machine for you.
I was able to do some pretty cool video editing work using Gimp and photoshop using the graphics card on this laptop.
Backlighting for keyboard is extremely bright and has cool theme to work with.
Computer fans are much quieter than previous generations.
Negatives:
These days its hard seeing the CD/DVD drive going away.
It does have an ethernet port just below the charging port on the left -hand side still.
The charging port is on the left hand side in the middle of the laptop. Oppose to someone like the Lenovo Legion that has the charging port on the back.
You have 3 - USB C ports and 2 USB - A, which are placed on the left side near the front of the palm rest. I thought this was a very odd placement overall. The other USB C port is on the right hand side.
You can not use the USB- port for charging the computer which is odd these days compared to other computers being able to use either or.
The laptop like all other gaming laptops can handle high temps because it does get extremely hot. I would say not to put it on your lap if you are going to be doing heavy gaming because it blocks the vents for airflow.
Overall, this is one of the better gaming laptops on the market at the moment.

overall a very nice laptop. I like the slim chassis and the display is sharp with no glare. But it performs some tasks a little slow than other cheapter computers due to it's build. Handles games pretty well in it's native res. and gets very loud on turbo mode. Battery lasts 3 hrs at best.

Bought this on sale, right after the 40 series graphics cards came out. I bought this because I wanted a lightweight, slim, larger screened, USB C powerable, decent gaming computer to take and play plugged into a vehicle 12V power supply.
This Laptop delivered and then some. I used this laptop on a 12V, 100W car charger for 6 months in a mirade of vehicles, in various conditions. Not only do I almost never use the actual power cord, It runs every game I have thrown at it, at max settings, and max power consumption modes on that charger no problem. Playing intensive games, on MAX settings, with power settings to max consumption, starting with a full battery, after 8 hours on the vehicle power, I was still never under 25% power at the end.
I threw more ram, and a bigger SSD in the available slots, but even still, the i9 and my ram are never even near their limits. That 3070 Ti is playing just as well as the 40 series laptops it played with.
Only downside is the SSD space, but with a quick swap, not a problem, and the included SSD size is average laptop size, so not a detractor, I just like having almost my entire steam library with me at all times.
After over 6 months of being in an outside pocket of a backpack, being thrown around vehicles, in the rain, heat, cold, and pretty much only charging off of 12v cigarette chargers, this laptop still looks (one scratch on back of case, and minor use peeling on base) great, and packs a massive punch.

The ROG Zephyrus M16 is a great laptop that allows its buyer to upgrade its ram and storage to an NVME in the future. The DDR5 ram is capable of gaming as well as the RTX 3070 ti (Mobile) is exceptionally well for the laptop due to the fact that you will definitely hit the 165 FPS mark made for this laptop. It comes with 3 fans and great airflow although the heat distribution causes the keyboard to be very hot. Please do not turn on Turbo mode unless you want your computer to be a portable heater. The ASUS armory crate allows the user to change the speeds of the components in the computer.
You can change the fan speed, adjustable RGB keyboard that you can change to whatever color you want, and increase the speed of the CPU and GPU. The keyboard feels nice however the microphone of the laptop is not clear and sounds like you are from a airport. The Camera is 720p and supports user recognition.
Customers of this product please note that it does not have HDR. The RTX 3070 TI laptop GPU has 8 GB of VRAM and is not performing equal to an RTX 3070 TI of the desktop version but rather an RTX 3060 TI. Still, you receive the RTX features including DLSS 2 and Raytracing. It is also recommended that you update the drivers except for the Intel graphics one as their not up to date upon purchase.
Overall it is a great gaming laptop that I would recommend to a friend. I rated it a 4 star because it certainly needs improvements in microphone quality however for the price and for what you are getting. It is considered a good laptop to buy just make sure it's on sale.

I love this thing. It has short battery life no matter what you do but I don’t mind it. I’m normally at a place where I can have it plugged in and this device is quite powerful right out of the box. Can run everything at max settings. Screen quality is amazing. I got this on sale and it often goes on sale. When you catch it, it’s most definitely a great deal. I love this thing. Solid buy!

This is a 5 Star Laptop if you get a non-defective unit.
I ordered this laptop twice, first a brand new one a month ago and the second one open box -excellent certified 2 weeks ago. Both units had issues with the screen.
The first one had large dark grooves on the screen, I returned it the day after I received it. The second had a decent amount of backlight bleed, but it wasn't a dealbreaker for me initially. For the two weeks I used it, the laptop performed spectacularly. Games ran like butter, heat management was better than expected, and (for the specs) battery life was far greater than the Alienware m15 r3 I previously owned.
The issue was that the backlight bleed started to progressively spread and increase all around the screen. By the 16th day of using the laptop, the screen was a nightmare. When playing games or watching bright colorful content it wasn't noticeable, but the image quality of content during the dark as well as black colors were extremely lit up. The screen itself is great! Severe, progressively increasing backlight bleed was my issue.
Apparently, this is a common problem with this laptop due to "screen misalignment." ASUS REALLY needs to step up on their Quality Control game as every ROG laptop I've gotten from them has had backlight issues.
A big thanks to Best Buy allowing me to return my unit after 17 days (instead of the standard 14) due to screen defect!

First things first, let’s get this out of the way… This is an awesome device with so much power in a thin form factor and an amazing display! But everything isn’t all good…
Giving it 3 stars for the issues with the devices I received. 4.7 is the rating I would actually give for the working device, itself.
In my experience, I had to go through two returns to finally end up with something decent. I returned my first unit, because it had multiple obvious defects in the lid. Literally, 5 or 6 dips and dents in the prismatic film on the lid that looked horrible, if the light hit it right. I noticed it immediately after opening the box, even before taking off the plastic film surrounding the device. Not to mention, an also blatantly obvious, crooked key “I” key that you can also see in the pictures. Completely unacceptable.
So, I went through the hassle of returning that device and received a replacement the following week. I’m excited, this one’s gonna be good right? Wrong! Soon as I boot it, I’m greeted by a hot stuck pixel in the middle of the screen and severe backlight bleed towards the bottom right and bad clouding all over. Not to mention, this one also exuded a high pitched frequency at all times that wasn’t on the previous device. Similar to the mosquito whistles that we all used on our phones when we were kids. It was so annoying and unacceptable for a $2000+ laptop! I mean, what are the chances of 2 duds in a row, right?
That just goes to show you what is sliding by and I don’t like it. After years of using Asus products, this may be my last, because I don’t like gambling and RNG, outside of video games. I understand backlight bleed is a thing with ips panels, but I think they could really do better with what’s considered passing. Who wants to pay $2000 for a screen with cones of light bleeding from multiple locations, especially on a 16:10 ratio display, where black bars will be frequent??? Not me.
Back to the second defective M16, I almost didn’t want to return it, in fear of getting something worse. What did, however, make it worse is that I couldn’t get BestBuy to send another replacement by mail, I had to drive an hour to a city nearby to return (deliver) something that was sent twice defective to me.. that’s fair? I tried to sway multiple reps or asked for a manager, but apparently they didn’t have the ability to do it and I never got to speak with anyone higher up. And, I haven’t had to return many things in my life, so it’s not like I’m some return freak that you may hear stories of online.
So, anyways, I had to go in-store.. They were actually wonderful out there and it was, admittedly, easier explaining and just showing them what I had received. Also felt like they understood me more than over-the-phone. Got it returned it, no problem, and it felt good that they felt the same when they saw it and pictures of the first one.
When I finally received the 3rd one, which was shipped in a bag, by the way, I was expecting the worse.. Literally, scared to open it, but to my surprise, lo and behold, this one was much better and doesn’t have any issues, except for some backlight bleed, I guess I’ll have to deal with it. The panel is not nearly as bad as the second device. What’s crazy is the first one had a perfect panel (probably purposely put in) and I knew I probably wouldn’t get another one like it, but it had too many obvious external defects to enjoy keeping it.
Now, for the laptop itself, I won’t get into too many details, since there are many good reviews on here, sharing my exact thoughts.
Pros:
-Screen - 165hz 1600p, awesome colors, and adaptive sync
-Looks - Thin, Sexy, Stealthy, and Stylish
-Speaker - They are great! Sounds so much richer than any other computer I’ve used. They get really loud as well. Only a MacBook or XPS can beat these.
-Mux Switch - so higher frames/performance.
-Keyboard - has a good feel for typing.
-Trackpad - is nice, glass, and very responsive.
-Windows Hello
-Small charging brick
-Deck’s soft touch - I actually really like this. You have to keep clean hands to like it. Exactly like the Xbox elite series 2 controller, seen in the pics I posted. I always have microfibers nearby, even with my previous laptop. Mine doesn’t get dirty..
-Silent mode - is silent, especially with eco(igpu) mode.
- Jekyll and Hyde - it can be ultra quiet or extremely loud, but you’re in control of that. It’s like two different devices, in one.
-Thunderbolt 4
-DDRR5
-PCIE Gen 4 - In both SSD slots
-Lots of i/o - If you need more A ports, get some short USB C to A adapter cables and you’re good to go. There are some really nice one’s for really low prices.
-Powerful!
Cons:
-Deck gets warmer than I would like. Cpu temps actually do quite well, though. Somewhat expected for it’s form factor and considering the ridiculous amounts of beastly power jammed inside it. It's not that bad, except for the top, near the screen when gaming, but I guess I will put it out there.
-Fans might be louder than most would like at 52-53 decibels in turbo and ~48 on performance at max. Performance profile is what I normally use. You do get a nice jump in frames and power on turbo, however, if your can bear the noise. Again, the cpu keeps pretty good temps on mine, so I guess that what matters. Just hope they get manual mode working soon, for more control.
-No advanced Optimus, so you have to restart every time you enable discrete gpu mode or to re-enable Optimus with the MUX switch. Not too big of a deal, really. More of a nitpick, but advanced Optimus is the future and it’s definitely better to have than not.
Power plug port - Needs to be towards the back of the device or further up along the side. I’m not a fan of the current position, right in the center or it’s side, but it’s not a deal breaker or anything.
-Quality Control, do I need to explain this one?

I would give this gaming laptop a 5/5 after upgrading the memory to 40GB of RAM and adding another 1TB memory as I did & had to do it myself.
Otherwise out of the box either way this thing is a beast considering the i9 and GTX 3070ti you can’t go wrong with this laptop. Unfortunately you can only upgrade one memory stick and not two like the 23 model. Go figure. Good laptop. This is & will be my daily driver.

Left arrow key unresponsive and requires a bit of physical encouragement in order to work. Might have bring to a professional to have it check out. Touchpad sensitivity is less than desirable for gaming, even out of the box. Recommended to get a separate mouse and keyboard but that would beat the point of a gaming laptop.

I appreciate that this Computer is quick. I am able to run multiple Clients, and am happy that the lil' rectangular contraption is transportable, much more than a Tower, and Moniter, would be; although I'll likely keep from hopping trains with this in my bags. Most importantly, having a Laptop makes for an easier time with study, and writing. While the Laptop does get noticeably hot, I do have a cooling mat, and a fan that I keep directed at the Computer.

The Asus Rog Zephyrus is undoubtedly a beast when it comes to a performance gaming laptop. With its 16" WQXGA 165 Hz display (2650 x 1600), 12th Gen Intel i9 Processor, 16 GB of the new DDR5 Memory, 1 TB of PCIe SSD storage, and lastly the Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti GPU, you get one hell of a gaming experience in a beautifully designed, sleek and thin and surprisingly lightweight laptop. So, let’s go over some of the features, PROS and CONS on what makes this laptop great and not to great in some areas.
PROS:
-16" WQXGA 165 Hz display (2650 x 1600) – The display on this laptop is absolutely beautiful with its 500 nits display and its 2560 x 1600 resolution with 3ms response time gives you the best gaming experience with no ghosting, and no tearing.
Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti- This thing will run any game can you pretty much throw at it. I was able to run some pretty performance demanding games such as Forza Horizon 5 at the top settings and was able to achieve 80 FPS on the benchmark results. On Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy, I was able to get up to 166 FPS, that is pretty amazing. I was able to run Zombie Army, and Doom with some very enjoyable gameplay and graphics.
-Design and Weight – This is one beautiful looking laptop. It has a black aluminum top with a really nice black rubber type material on the side which makes it nice and comfortable to rest your hands on. It weighs about 4.5 lbs. and almost an Inch thick. The way this laptop opens up, the ergolift hinge pushes the laptop up allowing for better airflow underneath the laptop. Not sure if needed, but the screen can be opened all the way to lay flat.
-Large and Very Responsive Track Pad
-Backlit RGB Responsive Keycard
-6 Crystal Clear Speakers with Dolby Atmos
-2.5 Gig Ethernet Port and WIFI 6e – Low latency, No lag online Gaming Experience. With WIFI 6e I was able to get the almost the same download speeds as a hardwired connection. Believe me, no longer having to run an ethernet connection every time I sit down to play some games is great.
Battery Life- Although it has a 90Wh battery, I would recommend running the laptop with the power adapter if you are going to be gaming. For normal the battery lasted about 6 to 7 hours.
16GB DDR5 Memory – The new DDR5 is much faster and provides twice the bandwidth than the previous DDR4. You will notice that the laptop is able to multitask and game at the same time with ease.
- Thunderbolt 4 Port
CONS:
-Fan Noise – The fan noise on turbo mode does get a bit loud, but under the same breath it is understandable that the cooling system needs to work a lot harder to keep the unit cool.
-Exhaust Vents – This issue is my biggest concern. Understandable so, this laptop gets pretty hot. I have recorded temps at about 85 degrees Celsius = 185 Degrees Fahrenheit at peak. The exhaust vents are located right by the display and blow all that hot air right at the bottom of the display. My concern is that overtime all the hot air blowing right up at the display may cause some issues.
LED Placement – The other concern I have with this laptop was the awkward placement of the LED lights. Depending on the angle of your screen the LED can become bothersome.
Overall, the Asus Rog Zephyrus M16 is an awesome gaming machine. The unit performed above my expectations in every aspect that I tested it in, expect for a few minor concerns. This laptop will handle anything you throw at it with ease and put a smile on your face at the end of the day.

I had this laptop for a year before it had any issues. Only issue was the polarizer became loose and caused wrinkles in the screen. Went into the store and they were very kind and helped me resolve my issue easily. Would recommend this laptop because it performs really well!
