Customers are saying

Customers commend the ROG Zephyrus M16 for its impressive performance, stunning display, and crisp graphics. However, some users report experiencing significant fan noise and heat generation, particularly during gaming. Concerns were also raised regarding battery life and the keyboard's design. While the lightweight design is appreciated, potential buyers should consider these trade-offs.

Best purchas so far. Was hesitant about over heating issues and i am not having those problems. made sure to update all drivers and apps went to settings and using on eco mode.Using for light browsing at the moment and fans have not spun up at all. No over heating its working great. Now when i crank it up to do gaming and or video editing fans will boot up to max which is fine for me. It's a powerful laptop not expecting any less

Great specs for price. But Asus doesn't know how to make a durable power port. This was the second rog I bought where the power port went bad.

The laptop itself is good but the hassle you have to go through to get a good unit with minimal qc issues is absurd. I myself has to got 4 times before recieving a acceptable one on the 5th unit. Also i recommend you get a laptop stand as this laptop runs hot.

This gaming laptop would have been great if it did not continually break down on me. When it worked it worked great, but I constantly had issues with this computer. I repeatedly had this device die on me. They have a real quality control issue.

      Dear Philip,

We certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused. All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, this is a random problem. ASUS provides one year warranty coverage, if product was purchased brand-new, in order to fix or repair any hardware or part that stop working prematurely under normal usage. We recommend that you send the product in for service so we can determine if this is a hardware issue so this may be resolved immediately. A RMA number is required to send it in for service. For RMA details, please go to: https://www.asus.com/us/support/article/818/. If you need more information or further assistance with the warranty for the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be more than happy to help. Great super fast gaming laptop. This laptop has the 8GB soldered onto the motherboard and the 8GB chip. Oddly enough the "My Asus" app said that the machine was running out of memory during its test. I ended up replacing the 8GB dimm with a Crucial 32GB dimm (for a total of 40GB) as well as upgrading the 1TB drive with SK Hynix 2TB Platinum NVMe drive. The 12th core i9 is super fast and runs everything you throw at it.

The pros vastly outweigh the cons for this laptop. It's fast, and you can tackle the overall noise level by sticking to performance mode. (And by disabling turboboost) It runs great for creative tasks like video editing and 3D programs. And the 8 gig soldered isn't an issue once you throw in a 32GB stick and have the memory running in quad channel mode. Nice job, Asus.

i9-1200h, 3070ti, and 2x8gb of ddr5 ram performs better than I was expecting! 2560x1600 resolution looks sharp on the 16" factory calibrated Asus Nebula Display. I use the default modes in armory crate. Faster CPU for gaming than my now sold AMD 5900x. This type of gaming power on the go is truly awesome! I highly recommend.

Product listing shows 16GB onboard (soldered), when in actually it is 8GB onboard and 8GB stick. Much less upgradeable, especially considering how hard DDR5 SODIMMs are to find. I need 32GB for my use case, so this is going back.

      Dear Valued Customer,

We truly understand your disappointment with the misinformation and you are planning to return. This specific model (GU603ZW) comes with 8GB of ram soldered on and another 8GB (swappable). This design was intended to maximize your performance by providing the same capacity as a larger single stick of memory, while at the same time doubling the amount of memory bandwidth that is available. One of the best gaming laptops (with some caveats)

Although I've seen some of the problems others have faced with their machines, I still stand by saying that this is one of the best gaming laptops you can currently purchase for the price. Pros: - Display: One of the most beautiful laptop screens I've ever seen. Vibrant, sharp, crisp, responsive, 165Hz... just overall an absolutely shocking spectacle of a display. - Performance: Even barring GPU power, the 12th gen Core i9 in this machine is *blazingly* fast. Most things happen near instantly, and although I completely understand why I have seen others complaining about 8GB being soldered to the board, it's still 16GB of DDR5 RAM (and still partially upgradable), which is incredibly speedy. Also, despite having seen issues regarding the NVMe speeds in this machine, the pre-equipped Micron drive still works very well and can read and write very quickly. - Graphics: The RTX 3070Ti is *phenomenal* for gaming and can handle the latest stuff near-effortlessly (depending on the game/settings, of course). It can obviously do raytracing and DLSS expertly, and it should last you for years to come. - Keyboard/TouchPad: Wasn't really expecting the keyboard to be this good, but... my god... this is such a superbly satisfying, premium feeling laptop keyboard; hands down one of the greatest I've ever used. The individual key feel is spectacular, and I agree with the decision include a numpad in favor of having a full layout with great spacing. The TouchPad itself is also quite nice, supporting gestures and being very spacious... almost too spacious, but still. - I/O: A pretty solid roster of ports, with USB-C, Thunderbolt 4, 3.3mm, etc. I do greatly appreciate the inclusion of a microSD card slot for devices like cameras or even certain consoles. - Design: The laptop is just so sleek with it's bold, yet not obnoxious aesthetic. Also, with just how much power you're getting in this laptop, it's a miracle it's as portable and thin as it is. Very easy to just plop it in a bag and go anywhere with it. Cons: - Fan Noise: Potentially the most prominent issue. When you're putting the laptop under load (or sometimes when you're just doing general tasks), be prepared for the fans to spin quite loudly, even while on the "Performance" fan speed setting. However, depending on how much this matters to you, the noise can be counteracted by switching to the "Silent" fan speed setting or by using headphones (noise-cancelling or not). It also seems as though the fans push hot air into the bottom of the display assembly, which is a terrible thing. I strongly recommend additionally purchasing a cooling mat to somewhat counteract this. - Battery Life: It's... alright. Nothing phenomenal or anything, ESPECIALLY while gaming. With the perfect combination of settings, you can probably squeeze 5-6 hours out of this thing (doing basic tasks and maybe some lighter gaming), but it's well-advised to bring a charger with you no matter what. - TouchPad Pt. 2: When I said it's "almost too spacious," that's because it kind of is. It's easy to accidentally brush your hand up against it and move the cursor or even perform an accidental click. However, this can be very easily changed by disabling the TouchPad when you're not using it. - I/O Pt. 2: I'd prefer if the machine had at least one or two more USB-A ports. It's annoying taking up my USB-C port with an adapter. That's all. - Quality Control: Even though I cannot speak from experience, from reading other reviews, it appears as though other units have suffered from individual issues. This is moreso an unpredictable (and unacceptable) quirk than an actual flaw, but it is still best to keep it in mind. Overall, if you're in the market for an excellent gaming laptop with incredible power, great gaming prowess, and sleek portability, I cannot give a strong enough recommendation of the 2022 ROG Zephyrus M16. Sure, there are a few issues (and it is wise to take them into consideration before purchasing), but almost all of them can be countered to some extent. I hope this review has assisted you in making your decision and I hope you have a great day.
