Alder Lake 12th Gen Intel Processor 16GB RAM 1TB SSD The above spec highlights are fantastic for gamers and anyone seeking a great laptop that can take you from Doom Eternal to Far Cry 6 and then to editing photos. You can utilize one of the four power profiles: Silent, Performance, Turbo and Manual that you can tweak a bit. Turbo only works with the laptop plugged in and is really for your gaming sessions and I found silent was pretty quiet (and even shut off for short periods in this mode) but overall I’d say this is on the louder side of fan noise as laptops go. I utilized the silent profile mostly for everyday PC tasks while choosing Performance and then Turbo for those graphics crunching games. The laptop feels very sturdy, I like the metal body and I can’t say enough about the screen, its one of the best I’ve seen. The on board audio system sounds great with two woofers on the bottom and 4 tweeters firing through the grills around the keyboard. Battery life is what is to be expected in a powerful gaming laptop such as this one, I found I got just over an hour playing a graphics intense game and got as much as 7-8 hrs with Youtube, Netflix etc…YMMV. Overall if you are looking for a great gaming system with a second to none screen and performance pick this up, you won’t be disappointed.

I was excited about the 16 GB of memory soldered to the motherboard so I could upgrade it once the DDR5 memory was more widely available. I was excited about the headset, gaming mice, and backpack that were to come packaged with the laptop. I think enough has been said about that misinformation by now, though. Asus really hasn't owned their mistake here, so I’ve lost a lot respect for them. However, I planned to keep the laptop anyway, because I really liked it. But, the screen was a major disappointment. With Chrome open and all white, both sides of the panel were noticeably dim. When the screen is all black, there’s a wretched screen bleed across the bottom of the screen from left to right, alternating between bright white and dark black. I REALLY wanted to like this laptop as it looks super cool, but it had to go back!

The "high-end" NVIDIA graphics card cannot be hooked up to an external monitor without problems. Specifically, every time the laptop sleeps, the external monitor shuts off and will not work unless you physically unplug the HDMI and then plug it in again. This will wear on the laptop connector and probably eventually destroy it. I chatted with tech support at NVIDIA who informed me it was a "known issue", that there was no current fix, and that they were "working on it", Problem is... I saw on a tech board a guy describing the EXACT same problem back in 2021 (It is now almost September of 2022). Honestly, I would not have bought this configuration had I known about this really, really, really annoying (and potentially very costly!) NVIDIA bug.

I guess my 2 weeks return period is gone, I am going to have to deal whit it, or contact Asus.
