    Charged for 24 hours and the battery lasted 2 hours going thru the setup and updating software. Not to mention it was slower than expected being a $2,000.00 gaming system

      We certainly understand your concern regarding the battery discharging faster than normal.



      The battery life is approximately 7 hours of light to medium workload. It will drain faster while gaming due to more power is required. In order to improve or prolong the battery charge, please try to do a battery calibration manually. To start with, please drain it completely then charge it fully without using the system. Once fully-charged, please use the system, without the AC adapter connected, and drain it completely again. Please repeat the charging process thereafter. Also, please verify if the laptop is running with the most current system update and third-party battery draining applications are not running if not in used.



      The slow system speed or performance is temporary during the initial WINDOWS setup and before installing cumulative WINDOWS Update, regardless what brand name of computer this may be. Also, laptop will do several system reboot, black screen temporarily or restart during the update process. Once initial setup and WINDOWS Update installation completed, system speed or performance will be optimized. Keeping Windows updated will maintain optimum system stability and performance. If these steps were already performed to no avail, please try to run a diagnostics or optimization test using the "My ASUS" utility software or application. If this is not pre-installed on the laptop, please download the application at the Microsoft Store. For details on how to use "My ASUS", please go to: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1041686/.     Good Performance, Great Display, 1 QC Issue

    I am conflicted about this laptop. It’s a nicely designed gaming laptop; it’s small size and low weight is impressive; its gaming performance is good, but I ran into a quality control (QC) issues that initially had me frustrated when setting it up for the first time. Namely, the USB Type-A ports were too small to allow anything to be plugged into them. This resulted in an extremely frustrating time trying to figure out what was causing the issue. I finally determined that the metal port was too small. I literally had to get a small flathead screwdriver to expand the metal rectangular housing of the USB port. This is an unusual occurrence, especially for ASUS products, and I can see how others might be frustrated enough to return the laptop soon after buying it. However, once I got passed this issue, I was finally able to plug in my gaming mouse and headset. It’s worth noting that others may or may not run into the same issue. And it did not have an effect on the laptop’s performance, which is good overall. However, because of this initial experience, I can only give this unit 4 stars. In terms of gaming performance, it’s powerful enough to run the latest graphic intensive games available today. For example, I played Halo Infinite and was averaging 85 frames per second (FPS) on Ultra video settings, 115 FPS in Fortnite, 75 FPS with ray tracing on in Fortnite, and 70 FPS in Mass Effect Legendary Edition win HDR. Again, these FPS figures were all accomplished under the highest and most demanding quality settings for each one of these games. By lowing the setting down one notch from Ultra to High, you’ll get even higher FPS. For comparison purposes, I ran the same games on an older 2021 gaming laptop (from another brand) against this ASUS laptop. Whereas this model has the latest 12th generation i9 Intel processor, and the latest NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti graphics card, my older model has a 10th generation i7 Intel processor with a NVIDIA RTX 3070 graphics card. Both systems have 16GB or RAM, however, my older system has DDR4, while this model has DDR5. Each system has 8 GB of GDDR6 RAM on the graphics card. For the most part, my older model came somewhat close to matching the FPS of this laptop. Albeit it was 10 to 15 frames per second lower across the board. And for some, the 10 to 15 additional FPS this laptop provides, especially in the lower 60 to 80 FPS range, is well worth the benefit of an upgrade. If you’re not upgrading, jumping straight into the latest i9 processor and Ti graphics card is well worth the investment. However, it’s worth nothing that you may be able to find similar laptops with additional RAM installed for a similar price. The tradeoff though is you’ll most likely be purchasing an off brand. Off brand laptop makers sometimes don’t have the same level of support available to their customers. For example, ASUS has already release two BIOS firmware updates for this laptop. Firmware updates introduce security patches, as well as improve the overall performance of the laptop. So, in order to get the best performance from any computer, always install the latest BIOS and driver updates provided by the manufacturer. From my experience, ASUS has been reliable on that front. It’s also important to note that the aforementioned framerates are based on the laptop’s native resolution of 2560 x 1600 (WQXGA). Which is higher than the resolution of the typical 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) gaming laptop that is more common today. This is another area where the processing power of the RTX 3070 Ti is utilized. The additional shader cores and virtual ram allows it to maintain relatively high FPS while rendering at greater than Quad HD resolution on the display. I do have to point out how impressive the display is. It might even be the best part of this laptop. The color it produces is impressive. And the higher refresh rate (165Hz) leads to very smooth gameplay. The included 16GB of RAM is plenty to run the latest games. Because there is only one slot available, the highest amount of RAM the laptop can allow is 40GB. To accomplish this amount, the current 8GB stick will need to be removed and a 32GB will need to be installed. If this laptop is mainly used for gaming, 40GB will always be enough during the life of this hardware. Overall, I like the performance of this laptop. And its compact size and weight for a gaming laptop is impressive. I would have given it a higher rating if I didn’t run into the issue with the USB ports. I’m hoping it was a one-off. And Best Buy or ASUS probably would have exchanged it without any issue. Otherwise, it’s a good gaming laptop.

    The ASUS ROG is almost everything I could've asked for in a laptop. It runs extremely well, I'm able to run all my games at max settings, and it has excellent battery life. Its slim and lightweight profile makes for easy portability allowing me to do my work on the go! With this level of performance, I'm even hoping I'll be able to learn and use Blender effectively with it! There are a couple downsides... I'm used to using a numpad, but the laptop's keyboard doesn't have that. It also doesn't come with a dedicated middle click button (although the touchpad can be configured to use a triple/quadruple tap on the pad to act as a middle click, so I'm still getting used to that). All in all, it's an excellent purchase and I hope to make excellent use of it over the next several years. :D

It is normal for the notebook, with the same hardware configuration and regardless of the manufacturer, to generate more heat than normal while under heavy load, especially during gaming, WINDOWS Update, and antivirus scan.     open box only gets 90 days warranty from asus

    Bought this open box excellent. Do not buy anything asus open box, they will only give you 90 days warranty. This might even consumer protection laws, but I don't have the finances to litigate it. Verify with the manufacturer about the warranty before you make an open box buy.

    Worst warranty service ever. Issue got pingponged

    After 3 weeks I found ripples on my screen. Asus asked me to contact best buy for service while best buy asked me to contact asus. So far my screen issue is still there and nobody said they are responsible. DO NOT BUY ASUS FROM BESTBUY, NO AFTER-SALE SERVICE AT ALL.

    Great machine. Fast enough for the generation/year it was released. Runs a hot in gaming, but I believe newer models have addressed some of this. Would buy another Zephyrus again.

    Got the laptop brought it home and it did not work. I called best buy and they said "there is nothing we can do sorry for the inconvenience" terrible product even worse service

      If the laptop will no longer boot up or it's just black screen, please do the following.

      Verify if the AC adapter is connected properly from the laptop to a known good power outlet or AC source. Try another power source.

      Try to press and hold down the power button to shut it down completely, just in case laptop is not in hibernate mode, wait for at least 10 seconds then power on. Please wait, if the system is applying updates in the System Registry, it will black screen temporarily. If it still black screen after a few minutes, at least 10 minutes, please repeat the power cycle process again.

      Also, please try to disconnect the power cable and let the unit drain for 24 hours to clear the memory. This will reset the hardware to default settings. After doing this, please reconnect your AC adapter then power on the unit.

    Crappy factory thermal

    It will thermal throttle based on what ASUS sends you.. This thing runs hot. Why ASUS decided to skimp on the QA for cooling is mind boggling?? The GPU has a heat limiter built in of 86C. If it reaches 86C it will thermal throttle the GPU lowering FPS. Mine ran hot from the get go with GPU running in the 80's close to the 86C limit. I was unaware of the limit and soon saw the issue once the crappy thermal paste job on the gpu and cpu showed signs 6 months later. I chose to forgo the warranty and repasted myself. NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE. GPU on load is in the 70's instead of constant 86C. I have seen 20-30%+ fps increase in games.
