Customers are saying

Customers commend the ROG Zephyrus M16 for its impressive performance, stunning display, and crisp graphics. However, some users report experiencing significant fan noise and heat generation, particularly during gaming. Concerns were also raised regarding battery life and the keyboard's design. While the lightweight design is appreciated, potential buyers should consider these trade-offs.

Sits on a raised stand with ample clearance and overheated / black screen rendering device unusable until it cooled down. Got it running long enough to get my data, restore to factory settings, and return. I’d avoid any of the Liquid Metal laptops from ASUS, not worth the hassle…

      Dear Valued Customer,

We are sorry to hear about the unfortunate experience you are having with the unit overheating and that you had to return it. There's a possibility that there are background apps and Windows updates causing the unit to perform as it does. What we've observed with the Windows 10 operating system is that once the unit is not being used all background and installed apps including Windows updates will fire up. We would recommend that you check for and install updates. This will cause the unit to run a bit hotter than normal and in turn ramp up the fan speed. We would recommend that the user check for and install all updates for all installed applications. Multiple restarts are recommended to ensure all updates are installed.

pro - M16 is a beautiful laptop comes with RTX 3070Ti, 16 GB of ram (which is all you need for gaming, never go 8GB those are just not enough) and the latest i9 from intel with 1TB of memory - so far I love the look of this screen the bezel are small even the bottom section of the screen, unlike most laptop that’s usually where most of the empty plastic space are, HP Omen are one of those. but this Rog Zephyrus M16 screen looks beautiful! it’s not QHD since this have a weird aspect ratio of 2560x1600 and it’s 165Hz - again the design of the whole laptop is great the rainbow effect on the front and the rubberized feels of the body felt great, I guess the best example I can say if you own an xbox elite 2 controller, that rubberized feel is what you notice while touching the keyboard surface. - the laptop IO is also packing with HDMI in, internet port, 1 US plug on both side a thunderbolt USB C connecting that can also be use to charge this laptop, a regular USB C, headphone jack and SD card slot on the right side, impressive list! - this probably the first laptop i’ve own that actually have great sounding speaker, It delivers some great loud sounds compared to my other Omen laptop, HP Omen quality and level of the sounds doesn’t even come close to M16. - played couple of games including Guardians of the galaxy, running on medium with ray tracing on I get about 45 to 55 fps, which it’s pretty good, Halo infinite was also getting great performance running mostly on low for multiplayer to get the most fps , I get about 125fps on that cons - but this laptop also has a tons of things that I didn’t like at all, first the light indicator is really in a terrible spot, it bothers me all the time reflecting on my beautiful screen, it’s annoying - im not sure what it is if it’s a defect or what, but my M16 have this popping sounds that’s keep coming on the right side of the speakers but it’s bothering me while doing my regular online browsing and all I hear is small sounds of piping coming from the speaker - i love the keyboard of how nice they feel but the placement is something that I probably just need to get used to, for me it’s towards to the right which is throwing me off from pressing the keys on left side of the keyboard, the placement doesn’t feel natural of how I would type, and been using it for almost a week, and im still having missed punches on the left sides of the keys - all gaming laptop gets hot, but oh my this laptop gets crazy hot for me, it goes to 85 degrees in no time at all the fans is loud and sometimes it gets annoying when you’re gaming without headphones but the loud fan and how hot the temperature gets kinda disappointing to me. - M16 also have this weird issue when I play Halo infinite, the game is too dark, tested this with my other laptop but it seems like M16 is the only one with this issue, I have to crank the in game brightness way but than i’d personally use, and im not sure if this issue will even get resolved, but I don’t think it’s the game seems like it’s the monitor - the monitor also have light bleed problems on the right side of screen i’ve noticed it why playing guardians of the galaxy overall it’s a pretty good laptop a ton of features, I love the ROG application they have to adjust your laptop performances but I feel like I have more complaints about it than me enjoying the laptop, M16 is a beautiful laptop, having the ability to fold the screen all the way flat os a great feature not really sure if I will ever need it tho, I hope the next version they can think a better solution for the light placement and also the power cord plug on the laptop is in a terrible location as well, might be a good looking laptop but fan factor is so important that I just gets annoyed easily when I feel like it’s on the way of my experience.

Excellent build quality for a PC. Good 16:10 screen that's bright and color accurate. The hinge design helps with airflow to make computer run cool. Overwatch 2 runs well at 1440p @180hz. I only wish ASUS would allow FN lock feature on these gaming laptops.

Got it at the sale price. Fantastic performance and value. Only ran into thermal throttling when I ran both CPU and GPU tests at the same time. Had minor backlight bleed in a few small spots along the bottom, but overall very happy with how the display looks. Very good panel. Looks as good as my 14" MBP. The trackpad is a standout. It's spectacular. On par with Surface and Razer trackpads. Still not as good as a Macs, but way better than just about every other Windows device. I LOVE that there's a silent mode and under light loads the fans don't turn in. Had issues with my previous Razer Blade and Legion Slim where the fan would turn off and on again repeatedly under light loads. Not a problem here. Decent battery life. Better than I was expecting with this i9 chip. 5 hours watching vidoes, 7-8 normal use. 3 minor complaints: 1) No per-key RGB - for this price, at least provide more than one-zone. 2) Font on keyboard makes it difficult to see symbols 3) No way to have function row dedicated to multimedia functions. Some of these can be remapped with PowerToys, but still.

Just got this laptop yesterday. The specs looked good however I was just doing Windows updates with profile set to Eco mode. After a few restarts I see a dead pixel line on the screen (less than couple of hours of run time) I tried to reset the PC but the issue remains. Seems like a hardware issue with display panel

Frankly, ROG STRIX SCAR series own higher performance than this series. I purchase this one instead of ROG STRIX SCAR is because I like zephyrus outfit design. noisy from fans is acceptable for me. what i really mind is i experience an obvious Backlight Bleeding effect on my laptop's screen. i am not sure it is common for all gaming laptops or not.

      Dear Joseph,

I'm sorry to hear that the backlight is bleeding and the fan is noisy. Most panels can exhibit a slight glow around the edges and corners (also known as a light bleed), which is can be normal. You can try to adjust the brightness and see if it improves and ensure to keep your Windows OS updated and all drivers including your BIOS. If you wish to investigate further, feel free to reach out to me at [email protected] and provide this link for reference. I'll do my best to provide a quick resolution to your case. This laptop is great for gaming and also includes practical features if you want to use it as a daily driver. The screen is large and the bezels are thin. It's a really nice screen in my opinion. The colors really pop off the screen and there is no perceivable glare. The refresh rate and response time make the screen motion look buttery smooth. The machine is thin but feels sturdy and durable. The rubberized coating on the palmrest is comfortable. The keyboard feels great to type on and I thought the RGB lights on the keyboard were a nice touch. The trackpad is large, responsive, and includes multi touch / gesture support. The inputs/outputs on this device are full featured. The inclusion of an ethernet port is great for gaming; there is a USB C and a Thunderbolt 4 port which should be great for peripherals or a display. There is also a microSD card reader built into the machine which is a nice bonus. The laptop's performance is great. I ran UserBenchmark to test the machine's performance and it performed really well (see photo). Out of the box, without doing anything except setting it to "turbo mode", both the i9 and 3070ti were performing around expectations. Sidenote, the only downside to setting the laptop to that mode was that it got really hot and the fans got really loud. If you are hoping to play this on your couch, I'd recommend a lapdesk and a headset that won't pick up the fan noise. The first game I tested on this machine was Apex Legends. I had the resolution set to 1600p, the graphics settings at high or very high. The minimum FPS i got was 95, I maxed the FPS at around 160, and I'd estimate my average FPS to be 110-120. It looked great on the machine, especially with the high refresh rate screen. The other game I tested on this device waas Forza Horizon 5. I had the resolution set to 1600p, the graphics set to "extreme" setting. The minimum FPS i got was 50, I maxed the FPS at around 75, and I'd estimate my average FPS to be 60-70. I was really impressed with how this game looked. 16gb of RAM was more than enough for me to do what I wanted with this machine, but the ability to swap one of the memory sticks to expand up to 40 gb of RAM will be nice in case that changes. Likewise, I thought the 1tb of storage was fast and will be more than sufficient for my usage. I thought the speakers sound great. I'd probably still opt for headphones for a full immersive gaming experience and to chat with friends, but in a pinch I would definitely use them to listen to music or hear game noises. The camera is sufficient. It includes windows hello though which is honestly the best; i love being able to unlock the computer with my face. Overall, this is a great machine and I'd recommend if you're looking for a gaming device you can also use for productivity or general tasks.

By far one of the best laptops i have ever owned. Was able to run witcher 3 with next gen graphics on ultra settings with no problem. Also tried other recent games like total war warhammer 3 with no issues. The refresh rate on the display is amazing! Light weight laptop thats a powerhouse. Only issue is when you run higher demanding games the fan does get pretty loud. The battery does drain pretty quick if you play games. But if youre doing day to work then not too much issues there. Once you plug in the charger the battery charges up pretty quick. Also ultra performance can only be achieved by plugging the charger.

I wanted this to be my laptop for the next 4-5 years. The specs and size were perfect for my needs. The first unit had some weird delamination or oil intrusion in the corner of the screen straight from the box. The second unit was good out of the box but within 3 days has stuck pixels and there is noticeable light blead along the bottom of the display that is getting worse. I'm returning it and getting something with better reputation for build quality. Even if I got a third one, I wouldn't trust that it would stay that way past the return policy, let alone 4 years. Both are newer N1 builds. If you google ASUS G15 or M16 you will see that I am not alone with either of these issues. Unless you have the patience to go through 4-5 before getting a good one look in another direction.
