The Asus TUF is a solid performer. NO you won't get custom specd laptop performance, and don't expect desktop performance levels. However, Only the top tier 2% of gamers would notice. It has a solid build feel. I wouldn't drop test it, or drop it repeatedly but from experience it will handle at least one drop from a table onto a vinyl kitchen floor without issue. Should handle being thrown around in a computer backpack just fine. The screen is bright, 1080p not 4k. I love that it has an actual ethernet port for hardwire connection. However the wifi connection is only limited by your router speed. The power port is on the side. I'd prefer in the back, but you get what you get. Performance is a beast! MOBAs (LoL, HoS) play flawlessly with 100FPS on max settings. WoW ran 100+ fps in general areas. in dungeons or congested areas, would drop to 75fps. Still plenty smooth playing. Escape from Tarkov, Call of Duty Warzone, Halo MCC we all at 70-100 fps. You wont have any issues playing games at good framerates. Battery isn't so great in full power gaming mode, getting just over 2 hours. Tweaking the setting results in longer life while sacrificing performance. A good mix can be had, especially if using it for media, class work and general surfing can net nearly 5 hours. There's more extreme settings, and if you're not gaming, I could see getting 7 hours of battery life. But that's on the extreme end. This is a great option for any gamer that wants portability, but also needs to do some productivity work.

Disappointed with camera quality and sound quality of this laptop.

Can't recommend this because of the astronomical price and crappy rgb lights within the keyboard. They're already starting to diffuse into different colors I've had this laptop for less than 6 months. If this were 500$ I'd consider it, even then it's a stretch

The abysmal trackpad on this laptop completely ruins the otherwise great experience. It's an absolute shame, but there is no excuse for such a shoddy component in a laptop, budget or otherwise. ASUS is incapable of making a laptop without some egregious compromise. What a shame.

Both gpus are being used, and it keeps freezing every few seconds. When i have a monitor hooked up to the HDMI it's reduced to 29hz, there's no freezing. usb-c 75hz freezing. Lowering the refresh does nothing.

The motherboard burned out within four months and needed replacement, but the international warranty was not honored as I was in India for a month, so I had to pay $800 out of pocket.

The computer stopped working after 1 month. It won’t turn on even after charging it. Terrible

Do not buy! We have use less that an hour daily since Christmas and it already is dead.

I got this gaming laptop as a traveling companion to my gaming PC and I have to say I'm impressed. I'll break down this review into the steps that I took to use it. Packaging : I don't normally care about packaging but I have to to give credit where it's due. The packaging on this was actually fun. Delivered like a nuclear code briefcase and designed like a loot kit. The box is a nice design without a bunch of fluff but definitely protective. Packaging is minimal but highly efficient and affective. Again, who thinks about packaging like this? Me I guess. Setup : Setup is fairly standard fair for a Windows bassd machine. Open it, sign in or create a Microsoft account, update and you're good to go. Bloatware : I'm happy to report that there is minimal excess software installed. There's an Asus command console but it's actually useful. It gives some detail about the machine and serves as a decent control panel for useful stuff outside of Windows. One annoying Office request and that was it. Very happy with this. Graphics : the graphics card is Nvidia if you're familiar with their console you'll feel right at home. Nice overlays for gaming and then revert for desktop. The performance was pretty impressive as well. I played Wasteland 3 on Ultra and have had no issues whatsoever. Even more graphic intensive games (fps, mmo, etc) didn't present me with any significant issues. I had one issue where on initial launch things were wonky and I worried but simply exiting and relaunching fixed everything. That tells me it's not a machine performs issue and I breathed a sigh of relief. CPU Performance : This one is a little more complicated. In general it worked as well as my equivalent PC but there were a couple times where it peaked (3D animation building) and I got the hourglass briefly. On the same software with desktop PC I don't encounter this. I did notice when I was having these issues the bottom of the laptop got very hot on my lap and the fan kicked into the highest speed. I'm guessing I was tapping out the capabilities. Still, nothing to be too worried about but the heat bothers me by how fast it went from cool to hot. Internet : I've only used the wifi and it is great. Connects at the maximum speed of my internet and I've had no disconnect issues. Absolutely no complaints. Sound : I don't normally use the built in speakers on any machine but I did just got a test and I'm pretty impressed. They're not tinny, have decent bass, and the volume was good enough to use while gaming. I'm highly impressed with that. Overall : I'm over all impressed with the machine as a gaming machine. No local lag, nice crisp graphics, no shadows or ghosting, and nice internet speeds. I don't like how hot it gets which requires the fan to kick into high. The nice thing is high isn't very noisy. I don't think it'll replace my desktop but it will definitely allow me to game while traveling and that was the goal.

I have been quite impressed with the performance of this right of the box! For starters, it is smooth to set up and get ready for daily use. The battery is quick to charge as a new unit. I am usually skeptical of all the battery life claims, as most of them fall well short of the life they claim to have on battery. Only having had this a short time, this is not something I am ready to fully comment on, but so far, it has an impressive rate of battery life/drain, even when running intense programs or games. I do not anticipate using it for gaming on battery frequently, but its nice to know I can. Video graphics, refresh rate and colors are stunning and make game play worth the price. The fans keep it cool while also being quiet still. The best part about this, that is actually new to me, is Armoury Crate. Wow! This dashboard allows basically full customization and performance monitoring of your system depending on what yuor current use is. It also allows for pre setting system configuration profiles I am learning more about this computer each time I open it. Its making me more interested in the deeper aspects of what is possible outside of just a normal laptop or gaming console. The future is here!

The laptop is phenomenal in speed and display. Only issue I have experienced is battery charge. It would be nice if the battery lasted longer between charges.

The ASUS - TUF 15.6" Gaming Laptop with Intel Core i7, 16GB Memory and the RTX 4070 is an excellent power house of a laptop for gaming on the go. The build quality is good and everything feels sturdy. There is a nice metal screen backing with the Tuf logo stamped in. You get plenty of ports and airflow with this laptop. Most of the ports are on the left side with one USB-A on the right, and none on the back. Performance is great with this laptop. Been playing Diablo 4 since they had a big update and it has been performing, and cooling, perfectly. Although the screen is 1080P it still looks great and the color representation is very nice. The other thing I like about the screen is that it is a bit wider. The 15.6” configuration is perfect for me. Keyboard feels good and doesn’t feel cramped. Audio controls are in a good spot, and with the laptop being wider, you get a 10 key too! The included software works well and will allow for customization of many settings. There isn’t any bloatware and setup was a breeze. The sound seems pretty solid. Wish the speakers were a bit better quality but they sound good. No distortion and they get loud enough for movies or games. Overall, a great laptop that I have been enjoying and definitely recommend!

I have a slightly older TUF-15 that was first with a Ryzen 7 4000 series used in an Asus. I Installed another OEM 16GB Micron RAM for a 32GB total All OEM (32GB) kit, so sticks are identical. Also installed a Samsung 970 Pcie SSD 1TB. Forgot which Nvidia GPU I'm running, but it is 8GB. Really Fast !

First, typically I say I'm not sure how you can get a 5-star gaming laptop without a larger cart to carry it around. With this one, I’m going out on a limb and giving it 5 stars – not because it's flawless but because it is one of the best I have tried. Let's start with look, touch and feel - The packaging premium. The way they do their package is pretty cool (I know it has nothing to do with performance but when you pay a premium you expect a bit more than a box and foam). The laptop itself has the same look and feel as any other ASUS that I have had. The lid and keyboard felt solid. I did want to mention the trackpad – most of the time I don’t like the trackpad and don’t use it however the size of this one made it very useable Still recommend an additional mouse but this would be comfortable to use. Now let's go to setup – setup was much faster than the last couple I’ve tested. It only took about 6 hours to get to a functional. After setup and uninstall of the free trials of bloatware the system did seem to perform as expected. I did not have to do any customization to get things to function – actually, the only change I made was the sleep function when the lid is closed and that was to use a separate monitor. Keyboard and mouse. The ports are adequate and work well – for most of the test I used an HDMI-connected larger gaming monitor for the gameplay but no issues with in internal screen when I used it. The onboard speakers with actually pretty good. Some loss on the low end but surprisingly not a bad Now functionally – I played through GTA and Rainbow 6 with no major issues using the default setting for everything. There were a couple of glitches on R 6 but nothing that impacted game play. The screen brightness was really good. It could be used in sunlight but would be a bit dim however much better than others I’ve seen. Battery life was pretty good heavy graphics games play of course had a pretty large drain. As usual, there were probably other adjustments I could have made to slow that but at default, it wasn’t bad. The only drawback I had was related to Windows issues that I’ve had with multiple systems that require a bit of workarounds. Bottomline – this is one of the best gaming laptops I have tried

It seems like yesterday that if you wanted a decent PC gaming experience on the road you better have packed your desktop gaming laptop with you. Companies like ASUS are changing the gaming landscape with laptops such as the ASUS TUF 15.6" laptop. It features an Intel Core i7 processor that is rated high usage scenarios such as gaming. The 16 gb of ram is more than sufficient for intensive games but I would not have complained if that number was 32 gb instead. The full HD resolution and 15.6 inch screen is great for gaming but I prefer to use my hp gaming monitor plugged into the full sized HDMI port on the laptop. The laptop also features 2 full sized USB ports and USB C ports (1 of which is a Thunderbolt 4). The 90Wh battery is capable of charging to 50% via the fast charging feature and the battery life based on my own personal usage is about 3.5 hours. Your battery life may vary based on usage as well. The GPU is quit capable as well since ASUS installed the NVIDIA GE Force RTX 4070. In my time gaming with the laptop I had no issues with stutters or freezing as the processor has plenty of power. To prevent overheating the laptop feature 2 84 blade arc flow fans which comfortable keep the laptop running at optimal levels even while generating so much heat. The Wifi is Wifi 6 compatible and the laptop does have an ethernet port so you can take advantage of your full internet speed via a wired connection. The one thing that I can't verify but I will take ASUS's word for is that the laptop is built to military standards, specifically the MIL-STD-810H standard which means it is capable of taking your everyday bumps and falls without faltering. If you are in the market for a gaming laptop that is quite portable based on its size and weight then look no further than the ASUS TUF 15.6 " gaming laptop

I've had a handful of gaming laptops over the years, but this one so far has been a sweet spot of features, price, and performance. It seems like a lot of other laptops in this price range offer decent specs, but might skimp out on ssd size, or system RAM. This laptop has a solid build quality, and the hinges on the screen feel stout. Overall it's not too thick or too heavy. The 1080p screen is bright enough for gaming, and the 144hz refresh rate works as it should. The i7 cpu and 16GB DDR5 RAM make general use and productivity snappy, while the 1TB SSD has respectable storage for a gaming laptop. The RTX 4070 has been great for gaming on the go, and runs almost any title on high settings, well over 60fps without breaking a sweat. A lot of games like Warzone, Helldivers 2, etc. can easily get over 100fps on this laptop. The 1080p resolution helps a lot in this regard. While it is a powerful laptop, it doesn't have to push frames to a 4k display or anything. 1080p is a perfectly fine resolution for a 15.6" screen, and this laptop has plenty of power to game at that resolution without any hassle.
