Better than 5 Stars for an IPS monitor! AWESOME
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review should be just one word “AWESOME” But just to be verbose here are some impressive specs - 16:9, Non-Glare, LED, IPS, 178° Viewing Angle, sRGB 100%, 1920x1080, 400 cd/㎡,ASCR: 100000000:1, Refresh Rate up to 280Hz, Response Time 1ms(GTG), HDR10, and 20 plus additional features. The ASUS - 27" IPS WLED FHD Gaming Monitor (DisplayPort, HDMI) VG279QMY has Shadow Boost for increased clarity in dark scenes, and also ultrafast response times minimizing blurring and streaking. It has tilting, swiveling and pivoting in a very well-designed nice-looking package. It has been very clean, with no tears, running at 30+ frame rates on a high end flight simulator and several maxed out FPS and other types of action games. Running on PC i9, all SSD, 64g RAM and RTX2080ti. It is a very comfortable display in diverse lighting conditions. It has a very ASUSish and functional built-in preferences panel along with great connectivity. Over all it is AWESOME!.

Nice gaming monitor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.ASUS is my favorite brand for gaming and this monitor fits well. Perfect size for my computer desk, it's big but not too big. My desk is a little bigger than most computer desks but I still have to sit a little close so anything bigger would be too much. I often play games on my big screen tv but I don't have to sit so close. Not 4k but you really don't need 4k at this size. You won't begin to see a difference until you get to 50" + sizes and higher resolutions will only slow things down. 1080 looks great on this monitor and won't be an issue for most gamers. Trust me, it looks great. HDR support if you want it and G-sync too for nvidia fans. Great colors with several modes to try for personal preference. Some modes override other settings so you may want to experiment with the settings to find your ultimate but the presets work fine if you just want to play. No real manual included, just a quick start guide but a better manual can be downloaded from asus which tells a bit more about the settings and specs. Also comes with hdmi and display port cables so you will be ready to go. Great color and brightness, smooth and fast gaming, the high refresh rates and 1ms response are impressive. Makes gaming a lot more fun. The only downside (a minor one) is the built in speakers. They sound kind of crappy and could have been left out unless you're really desperate. I'm a little spoiled with my external speakers + sub but they do include audio out jack which works great with them. Most gamers likely have a good speaker setup so this won't be an issue for them. Good price for asus quality and an enjoyable gaming experience. thanks!

280Hz 1ms Fast IPS Monitor with Versatile Stand
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The TUF Gaming VG279 monitor is a high quality, fast gaming monitor. It supports Nvidia G-SYNC and HDR among other features. I used the VG279 with my desktop gaming computer that has an RTX3080 GPU. The VG279 was able to display the high frame rate generated by the 3080 and displayed an excellent picture with essentially no lag in all games. HDR content was also displayed beautifully although I'm not exactly sure what DISPLAYHDR 400 is. One thing that surprised me was the flexibility of the stand. The stand is adjustable to various heights and angles and is even able to be placed in a vertical portrait position. Overall, a very high quality monitor only possibly limited by its 1920x1080 resolution.

Great LED gaming monitor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great gaming monitor that doesn't show blurring as some other ones around this price range. The colors out of the box were really good and I did have to adjust the brightness but with the joystick type control it was very easy to maneuver thru the menu system. I connected a computer as well as a PS5 to this monitor and they both looked fantastic. I really like the inputs they have including the display port which my computer had. For an older gamer my eyes have been requiring more clarity on my monitors and this was exactly what I needed. I am planning to order another one for my setup and possibly replacing older monitors for these.

Bad start, great finish
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So is 4K or heck, even 2K resolution required for serious gaming? If not what is the most important spec? Actually using a 1080P monitor with a quick refresh rate and response time is a great target spec. That's where ASUS brings their TUF line of monitors to the game. I grabbed the TUF 27" HD monitor. The 1920 x 1080 with 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time at under $400 is a bargain! I love the switches behind the right side of the bezel where you can quickly adjust between preset contrasts depending on how you are using it. Expecially helpful is a dedicated gaming switch that allows you to change between game type such as Racing, First Person Shooter, Role Play, etc. The stand is solid with height adjustment as well as tilt and swivel. The stand also allows for you to chose portrait or landscape orientation. You can also shed the stand and VESA mount if that's your preference which is a feature often not offered on some equivalent monitors. It is Free-sync and G-Sync ready with HDR which really makes your screen pop (figuratively). I play a lot of FPS games and I can appreciate the quick response and refresh with minimum artifacts and ghosting making the action on the screen truly smooth and assisting in game play, now if my reaction time would improve and take advantage of the quality of the monitor. The bad start... Originally I connected it to an older gaming computer with a Radeon RX580 that is in our guest room. Unfortunately the computer would not even post with it connected so I switched back to the original monitor and it wouldn't post either. I disconnected everything, opened up the computer and cleared the motherboard CMOS and rebooted. Success!!!! Once it was in Windows I shutdown, switched to the TUF and it would finally boot. Once everything was working I played a little Division 2 on lower settings than I play on my main rig but it was very smooth and performance was limited by the graphics card. Great finish... I then connected the TUF to my main gaming rig, a mini ITX system running an Intel i9 paired with a nVidia RTX3060 Ti graphics card. I started up Division 2 and had almost everything set at high resolution and the graphics card and TUF monitor pairing really were impressive. No artifacts or ghosting while playing. Super clean. I plan on trying the monitor with my racing sim setup... although 27" is a bit small for an immersive experience I might just have to break down and get 2 more monitor to make the perfect 3 monitor setup. Other than the boot problem the monitor worked flawlessly and is a bargain at under $400. I'm a huge ASUS ROG and TUF fan. Between motherboards, AIOs, monitors and even cases their stuff is quality and with TUF as their value brand you know you are getting the the same high quality as the ROG stuff but at a value price.

Excellent for gaming and every day use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After nearly a week with the Asus Tuf Gaming monitor I have to say that I am genuinely impressed. I am not a super hard-core gamer but for the games I do play it looks amazing with vibrant colors, excellent brightness, and contrast. It is also great for normal day-to-day computer use as well. Even though I use the VESA mount as I have my monitors mounted to arms on my desk, I have to say the included base is very nice with large range of motion in many directions along with ability to rotate 90 degrees. The included quick start guide provides very little information and I found it to be nearly useless. I went to the Asus website and downloaded the full product manual. While still not that great it does provide more information. I tried all the Game Visual modes, and the display differences are very apparent between them. Other than the broad game genre description in the menu I really have no idea what individual settings or adjustments they make nor does the manual provide any meaningful explanations. Game Plus settings are also interesting but I don’t think that they will provide any value for me personally. The on-screen FPS counter was kind of neat but I could not figure out how to turn it off once enabled without powering the monitor off. I am running an Nvidia 2080 GPU and it detected and enabled the G-Sync mode automatically and I could see the frame rate adjust dynamically. I am also not a fan of the placement of the controls. With the right-hand side button access it makes getting to the controls for the left monitor In a dual screen setup really awkward. I also wish that the status LED was a little easier to see. When you are at a normal viewing angle it is almost impossible to see. Despite some minor annoyances I have to say this monitor performs well, looks great and provides a great value for the price.

Great if you want speed over pixels.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The gaming monitor is a very nice piece of equipment that I have enjoyed using ever since the day I got it. My first impression of the monitor when I took it out of the box was that it was very safely packaged, and assembly was very easy: the only piece needed to assemble was a single pre-placed screw, so it only took 30 seconds to completely assemble. This monitor also has two HDMI jacks as well as one DisplayPort. Within the box it contained both an HDMI and a DisplayPort cable, which is a nice touch. There is also a 3.5mm audio output jack on the back (sorry, no separate speaker and headphone outputs). Power comes from a separate power brick, using a thin cable between the brick and the monitor itself, presumably to keep the monitor thin. The monitor runs at a max of 280 Hz (although my gaming laptop could only manage 220Hz), and the increased speed was very apparent, coming from a 60Hz monitor. It also supports variable refresh rates (FreeSync and G-Sync), and the IPS panel looks great. The aesthetics are clean; it has a very small bezel, and the base looks very nice as well, and lacks any type of extra RGB lighting (a bonus, in my opinion). Overall, this monitor is very much worth the purchase and works in almost every way that a gamer could want. The only thing lacking is a built-in USB hub. So, you get 1920x1080 280Hz in a 27” package. In this price range you can get 1440p monitors the same physical size, but at half of the refresh rate. So, if you want more pixels, choose something else. If you want the highest possible speed at FHD resolution, then consider this one.

Amazing monitor for gaming and productivity
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This monitor is amazing. It’s performed with excellence in every way, whether it be for gaming or or productivity. This monitor is super slim and is built super well. Likewise, it was easy to mount to the monitor arm on my desk. The control buttons are well placed and it has a headphone jack which is a nice touch for those who want to plug into their monitor. To pair with the monitor and perform my testing, I used a NVIDIA rtx 3070 gpu (mobile edition) and an 11th gen intel i7 rocket lake cpu. I tested both on DisplayPort (utilizing g-sync) and with HDMI. I was able to get 1080p 240hz but also you can overclock it to 280hz. it I was outputting around 120fps and it looked amazing, especially with the monitor’s HDR. I found this monitor to work great for all types of games, but it works especially great for twitchy first person shooters like counter strike, valorant, or call of duty warzone. You can definitely see the 1ms response time and the high refresh rate at play. The “game plus” feature adds some nice bonuses to the monitor with adding crosshairs, an FPS counter, or a timer. I also tried this monitor out for productivity as well and it worked great. It has plenty of space for excel spreadsheets, word documents, tableau dashboards, whatever you throw at it. I did not have any complaints about this monitor.

Needs powerful video card
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an excellent gaming monitor if you have the right video card. Refresh rate is amazing with no ghosting or "fuzziness". It is not as heavy as I expected. It a little better as far as sharp image compared to my old monitor from last year. Easy to assemble, digital cable included. It has no speakers but for gaming it's not needed.

Extremely Happy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When looking at gaming monitors you need to keep in mind you want to match it with your PC. And I'm rocking a nvidia graphics card so this monitor with g-sync fits just right with my PC. Quick run down of the specs overclock to 280 hz this is how many times a second it updates with new info and a 1ms. Has a max resolution of 1920x1080, aspect ratio is 16:9 and is a nice 27" inches big. It also has two HDMI ports and a display port. Great viewing angles and built-in speakers that work I guess if you don't have anything else at all. All these features add up to smoother game play with less lag. And in the end that's what every gamer wants. Now I just need to pick up 2 more cuz this one is out performing my other two monitors.

Excellent Gaming Monitor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything looks stunning on this display. Highly configurable and with zero ghosting or blurring. The ultrafast processor ensured a sharp and crystal clear picture. Games and videos looked amazing, and the color profiles were spot on. Asus definitely put some thought into this display. Even though it's fairly lightweight, the build seems solid and well designed. The only drawback is that it's only FHD (1080p) and not 4k.

Picture is crystal clear and insanely colorful. Graphics set on high were no problem for this beast, with no blurring or FPS issues. Fantastic addition to any gaming build.
