New ASUS broken after 4 weeks with minimal use
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One day, I was feeling nostalgic and decided to buy this laptop to play Starcraft 2. That was 9/30/23. Having chosen ASUS for my last 3 laptops, naturally I bought another ASUS. Much to my disappointment, this ASUS A16 stopped working suddenly in the middle of a StarCraft game after only 4 weeks of minimal usage. My local BestBuy took it back for a repair. Now, it has been 6 weeks and is still not back in my possession. Needless to say, I will not buy another ASUS for a while. While I can chalk this mishap up to my bad luck, the whole repair experience and multiple trips to BestBuy do not inspire confidence in ASUS and big box store like BestBuy. The fact that repair time (6 weeks and counting) is longer than my possession time is ridiculous.

Horrible laptop. Same problem everyone else had.
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop had the issue that all of these A16 laptops have. The screen goes black and just doesn't want to work unless you turn off a ton of settings that non savvy computer users would not do. Then I don't use the laptop for a couple of days, next time I open it up, the whole screen is messed up with lines across it. It didn't fall or anything, loose cable I assume. I returned it and replaced with an actual working laptop with a GTX 3070 instead for the same price.

Asus is junk
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this in March 2024. BSOD 1 month out of warranty. $1100 down the drain. This is the first computer I have bought over a few decades that was so short lived. Seems this happens a lot with Asus. Never again… No issues with BB. Not their issue.

Solid design, quiet and good performance, but...
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After a couple days the fan started sounding like an old school bus (mine was an open-box) so I exchanged it for a Lenovo Legion Slim 7 6800s. While I had it, it was very good. Two gen 4 SSD slots and two RAM slots gave a lot of expansion options, The lid opens with one finger. The white LED keyboard felt/looked clean and had a great layout. There is a USB4 port. I was able to drive an Aorus 43" 4K 144Hz monitor fine on the two USB-C ports, but the HDMI port was a bit flaky, blacking out occasionally when on the dGPU. Although there was lots of plastic, it felt solid, slim and lighter than its weight suggested. The whole style is clean without that gamer look. I like the dedicated volume controls, but I wish there was a way to remap the useless (to me) mic mute and Armoury Crate buttons. I was able to slow charge the laptop using an 85w USB-C charger I used for my MacBook Pro 13. Performance is surprisingly strong all around, even on Silent which was my chosen mode. I got 80fps average on World War Z on high on my external monitor's 4K native resolution and the CPU felt at least as strong as my desktop's. Everything stayed ultra quiet and I got the battery to last up to 12 hours (!) with just browsing/youtube. With normal use, 6-8 hours is easy even at 165Hz, medium brightness, On Silent mode, you can game with 90% of the performance with very little noise, like a good underclock. Negatives: The speakers sounded very loud and clear, but almost completely lacking in bass of any kind (bit a deal-breaker for me). Asus software has like 25 processes running in the background and often conflicts with AMD's. The lid and keyboard areas collect fingerprints. Apart from 165Hz, the screen is pretty mid and doesn't get very bright. I also wish it had an SD card reader. Overall I really liked the form factor. The screen could be brighter and a bit more vibrant. The speakers are important to me and the complete lack of bass annoyed me. Anyone who's heard the effortless, full-bodied sound from a MacBook Pro or iPad would know what I'm on about, and I hate Apple. The final straw for me however, was the diesel-like rattling from one of the fans when spinning at low speeds. Something like that would only get worse over time and a quick search shows it's a bit of a common issue with these models. If you manage to get one of these without a defective fan I'd still rate it very highly, especially if you plan to use it with an external monitor and speakers.

A Budget gamer Laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Asus TUF gaming laptop equipped with AMD Ryzen 7 is a pretty solid budget gaming laptop. At this screen size of 16 inches which is great for portability. It is extremely light for this to be a gaming laptop, and is very well made. This specific model comes with an AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS chip running at 3.20Ghz, 16GB of ram, and 500GB SSD. That keyboard has a backlight which can be customized with the included Armour software but it does not change colors. The track pass is very responsive and smooth. The keys have good feedback and it has the number pad. The screen is 1080P Full HD with 165hz refresh rate and it supports FreeSync. The screen is very bright with vivid colors. The speaker sounds ok a little bit low for a laptop that supports Hi-Res audio and Dolby Atmos. This device has few ports, not really that many. It has 2 USBA, 2USBC and 1 HDMI. It also has a headphone jack. I tried some of my favorite games to see how they performed, and I was impressed. MK 11 at the highest video settings it performed like a champ. It was consistent at 59FPS. However, this was the game running at 1080p which is the max the laptop supper even using the HDMI. Overall is a good budget gaming laptop. If you don’t care about 4k this machine will run 1080p with no issues. With the 16 inch screen you can take your gaming on the go. In the box you get the laptop, power cable and manuals.

Great gaming and general purpose laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, the construction of this laptop is well built and solid. It’s Not heavy, and it’s not light, giving credit to the solid construction, build and quality materials. The keyboard is well lit and well designed. My fingers easily find the intended buttons and Workflow is seamless and equivalent compared to a regular desktop keyboard. A nice bonus is the Laptop is equipped with a keypad That is equipped on a full keyboard Second, the set up process was very easy. The power on is very quick, and I think under 30 seconds, maybe less. The awake from sleep mode is even quicker. The Touch cursor pad works beautifully and has just The right amount of haptic feedback to work like a normal mouse.. Third, general purpose use with Internet surfing and basic apps were extremely easy to use and quick. No problems using any web browsers like chrome, or Microsoft edge. Fourth, gaming was a set up and very seamless to use. Xbox PC app was already installed and easy to set up. Next, I tried several games From the Xbox store and I thought gameplay was fantastic. Quick, responsive, beautiful, graphics, and display and no perceivable lag as far as I could tell. Could easily game on this all day long. I thought that displays beautiful and I do like that it’s flat matte finish and coating minimizes any glare. One downside to the laptop is the fan is quite noisy once you are gaming. I guess this goes with the territory, but thought I’d mention it. But overall fantastic laptop for gaming and general purpose. Highly recommend it!

Piece of Garbage
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For anyone looking for a decent gaming Laptop do not buy a TUF GAMING Laptop from Asus. They don't stand by their products. I brought this laptop for my daughter for Christmas 2023. She has never dropped the laptop and they will not cover this under warranty. I have already had to take it back to best buy 3 times for other issues with the computer. I will never buy another piece of garbage by this company again.

A Solid First Gaming Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this during Black Friday sales and it's worth the price. This is my first gaming laptop, so I didn't know what I was expecting. So far, everything is very good, design is sleek, and relatively lightweight. Quick to boot up and was able to play my games with great performance and visuals. It's also great for my schoolwork. Though the only drawbacks I found were the lower-end of storage (449GB) that allowed around 4-5 games installed concurrently. And the fact that it gets rather warm when I play my games for at least an hour. But this doesn't really bother me or my overall experience with the laptop.

ASUS - TUF portable beast
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a gaming laptop that would perform with today's games without breaking the bank. So far, this unit has met the task. I had to travel recently and needed to be able to play online games with my kids. The Mux switch is a great feature, and I was able to play for a solid hour while on battery at MAX settings. I would op for additional SSD to increase capacity if you intend to use this as a gaming machine. The dedicated graphics have been better than I expected, thanks AMD. The AC power converter runs pretty hot when charging/gaming and the fans on the laptop are loud when going full power. Normal tasks like MS Office apps, web surfing, video conferencing all performed as expected without sucking the life out of the battery. Multiple power management options will keep you untethered for hours.
