    This was my first Asus laptop so when I opened the box and took it out. I was happy with how sturdy and well built it was. The charging cord is a larger than my other laptops. The front of the laptop has a little overhang where you can open the laptop which is nice. There are on the left side of the laptop the charging port and then an ethernet port, hdmi which I attached a 4k 120hz monitor which it ran fine. Also there is a USB-C 4.0, USB -C gen 2, USB 3.2 and a audio jack. On the other side is another USB 3.2. When you turn on the laptop it starts up very quickly. It has windows 11 so it was the first time I used it and was pleased with it so now I will be upgrading my other computers to that version. I used the laptop for work related activities and then streamed some music and videos while working on a letter I was writing. It all ran seamlessly. I then when on an played some games on the laptop. I played a game that on my other higher performance laptops and they ran choppy so I wanted to see how this computer ran it and it ran perfectly fine which I was very impressed with. I also read that the microphone has a feature to noise cancel which the team I was on thought they could hear me better than with my other gaming setup so I thought that was a nice feature. I would say for the price this laptop exceeded my expectations and I will be looking purchasing more Asus laptops in the future. It was also my first time using an AMD product and I really enjoyed using it.

    Hardcore Machine For A Great Price!!!

    I'm a networking administrator major at a local state college. I bought this computer for school purposes and not for anything to do with gaming. I throw a massive workload at my systems and I needed a computer powerful enough to handle the workload and be easy to transport. It's surprisingly light for a gaming laptop. I have not owned a computer with an AMD chipset in a while just because the other systems i own just happened to come with Intel. I think its a great processor and the M2 SSD is snappy and responsive. I normally use this laptop for attending virtual classes on Zoom, taking notes and performing labs. During class I connect this laptop via HDMI to an external monitor to double my workspace while in lectures. The battery life is amazing! The display is crisp. I uograded the RAM to 32GB and added a second 2TB M2 SSD for file storage. This system is well worth the money I paid for it! Its also great for when I do attend classes on campus. I don't always have a power outlet next to me and this laptop lasts me through two 2.5 hour lectures and study time in between classes in one day. Defintely a great buy!

    Quality Gaming Laptop from ASUS

    The FA617 is a gaming laptop from computer maker ASUS. They make great motherboards, desktop computers, and laptops. This laptop is a great example of their quality products. The laptop has an AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS processor with AMD Radeon RX 7600S graphics. It has a 512gb SSD and 16GB total memory to handle complex games. The laptop has a power port for the 100 watt power supply, Ethernet port, HDMI port, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 USB-C port, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C /DisplayPort combo port, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Display/Power Delivery combo port, a USB4 port, and an Aux port. There are air vents located above the numeric keypad as well as on both sides providing plenty of air flow to keep the laptop cool. The laptop is highly customizable using the MyASUS app as well as Armoury Crate. Armoury Crate in particular allows you to view all of your system stats, change GPU performance settings, control lighting and audio setting, your AMD graphics settings, and resource monitoring. It also allows you to control visual game effects, create gaming profiles, and keeps you up to date on everything ASUS related. The device also has a MUX switch, allowing you to disable the integrated graphics in your laptop, giving you a performance increase in games at the expense of worse battery life I downloaded and played numerous games with xBox Pass and they all ran smoothly with no lag or screen ghosting. I didn’t see any frame loss during to most comp-lex graphics sequences. The screen is bright, crisp, and responsive. The keyboard is backlite and very easy to read in the light or when it’s dark. It has dedicated function keys for volume, Microphone, and to start Armoury Crate. I really like the performance of the laptop. The only thing I would change is the 512GB SD. It just isn’t big enough. Apps like Microsoft Flight Simulator take over 250GB leaving you little room for anything else. Despite that shortcoming, I still can recommend this laptop for gamers.

    I had recently bought this laptop on sale for $899.99, When I opened the box the laptop wasn’t even put in the box it was outside of the box. When I was trying to boot the laptop to set it up it would show the ASUS screen but immediately turn off. I kept trying for hours but it never worked. I decided to return it back.

    Very little bloatware. Doesn’t come preloaded with 3rd party antivirus, relying instead on built-in Windows Defender, which is nice in my opinion. I get tired of manufacturers preloading a bunch of garbage. The ASUS TUF laptop is actually a few ounces heavier than my previous MSI gaming laptop, yet somehow it feels lighter. Design is kinda cool and reminds me of Transformers or Halo or something a little futuristic, but not obscenely so. They didn’t go crazy with colors like some others do, with only one little bit of color on one of the feet. The backlit keyboard has a narrow number pad and dedicated volume up & down buttons, as well as one to mute the mic. It has a Home key, but you have to press FN key to use End, PgUp, and PgDn keys. Screen bezel is minimal at about a quarter of an inch on the top, and just under a quarter of an inch on the sides. It really seems to disappear as you’re gaming or working. It also has a matte finish, so you don’t have to contend with a lot of glare. Speakers are average, at best. The left side of the laptop body has a barrel power connector, Ethernet, HDMI, headphone, USB-A, and two USB-C ports, which can also be used to power the laptop. Two power methods is a nice feature. The right side of the laptop body has a single USB-A port. No issues with performance. I have only tried a couple of games, but it had no issues with Flight Simulator. Overall, I really like this Asus TUF laptop. It definitely looks, and feels, better than my previous laptop. It’ll surely be my new go-to when I need to be away from my desktop.

    This laptop does well with games I play online through the well known gaming site, I have experienced no lag, no need to turn down settings, it has beautiful video. However, it does not do so well with games I play on a well known social media site, where it does lag and sounds like a jet taking off. Videos play great, the sound not so much. It is light and thin. The bezel is very thin giving maximum screen viewing. The keyboard layout is comfortable. A fully charged battery lasted approx. 2 hrs. of browsing and email checking before giving notice to plug in (battery was at 20% at that point). The charging brick can get quite hot. There is included Armoury Crate software to optimize the laptop if you agree to let them collect more data. The 500 GB ssd gets me started but to download my games along with photos, documents, etc. it will fill up fast. The 16 GB memory is enough for all my games to play fine and it's upgradeable also, if needed. This is a nice gaming laptop for anyone not playing highly intensive, demanding games. It's light enough to take on the go. I'm hoping with a little more time I can optimize it to play nicer with my social media games.

    Started getting black screens on start up on the first day. Couldn't even plug it into a different monitor to try and see what was going on. Just had to restart over and over until I finally got a bios screen. In the end only got it to start up properly 2 times.

    And yet another excellent product put out by Asus this laptop is very lite weight and compact enough that anyone who buys this one will be pleased. The setup on it once unboxing it went smoothly although when it came to getting some of the new driver in (the only con that happened with the one I got) it did stop downloading to install but after letting it sit overnight and picking up where I left off the next day I had no problems what so ever once I was done setting it up I did install my favorite game on it to give it a through testing and believe it or not it handled this game like a champ. The sound from the speakers was clear and crisp.at all levels on the volume. For any that are gamers like I am this is the perfect laptop to take for on the go and myself personally knowing my age which I won't reveal lol would take to a hospital to have something to do on a stay after any surgery just to keep up with my friends in game or to even watch the movies I have bought over the years that are stored on line. The pros on this laptop are 1) there is room enough and connection wise to add another SSD/Nvme in it 2) it's fast on loading up windows and any apps 3) This one should in all fact being the number one pro item it's all AMD comes with an AMD Ryzen 7 773SHS with an on board Radeon Graphics chip along with a RadeonRX 7600S 4) it has DDR 5 for ram. Even with the 1 con that I honestly wouldn't call a con but some would and the pros that I listed I would 100% give this gaming laptop a 10/10 along with recommend it to any gamer that I know and yes I'm a tiny bit bias because I love AMD and Asus

    I was persuaded to buy this as a Christmas gift. It barely turned on when my son finally tried it about two weeks after he got it. He is now trying to transfer data and it has a black screen. We'll see how ASUS responds. So disappointed.

    Upon receiving this laptop, it constantly had problems with restarting. I tried doing a clean install of windows but nothing would stop it from constantly restarting. I ended up returning it.

    Died two months in

    After only two months of use it turned into an expensive paper weight. It completely shut off while I was using it. I could not get it to turn on or even show a charge light again.

    Wish I would’ve gone with a different laptop. It’s slow. It keeps disconnecting from my Ethernet Cord that’s connected to my printer. It has caused me to lose money since it would glitch out on my programs.

    Decent laptop for Price.

    This laptop solved a few things I wanted. I wanted something fast, durable, and gaming capable. I mostly use it for browsing etc. The screen size is adequate without being huge. Picture quality is acceptable, but not the best. Colors are fine. Brightness not so much or resolution. Armoury Crate is a control panel which has pros and cons. Pro is you have gaming control etc, but it has glitches as a con. The price point for what you get is the biggest positive. There are more expensive laptops obviously that are better, but not for $800 or less.

    Although I have had limited time with this laptop, I will comment on a few likes and dislikes. Based on my previous experience with ASUS, the bar was pretty high and this one meets many of those expectations, but falls short in others. First, the screen size is just right - not too big and not too small. After fiddling with the display settings, I was able to make it look even better. The default settings need to be tweaked to your liking. While the display is good at eliminating reflections in bright light, it costs color, contrast, and brightness. This can be partly compensated in settings, but it will never be as good as an OLED screen - maybe I am spoiled by OLED screens. The touch pad is huge, and probably larger than it needs to be - just my preference. There is a lot of wasted space at the top and bottom of the keypad area and the keys are just OK- nothing special. The backlighting is good but not great. Speakers - same. Good but not great. I have not had enough time to put it through the paces on several games, but the ones I tried were much better than average. Obviously, it has enough horsepower in graphics and processor to get the job done. Interestingly, this particular model does not show up in the ASUS website - only the generic info on the TUFF series. Best Buy and other retailers do not show this new model either, so I am not sure on the specs on this model. My initial impression is that it is built like a tank and weighs as much (to be expected in a gaming laptop), has plenty of horsepower in graphics and processor, and comes from a company with decades experience selling gaming laptops. My initial nitpicks are the screen is OK - but not great, screen settings will need to be tweaked as the default settings are lame at best, and the keyboard has a lot of wasted space. Surprisingly, the fans move a lot of air and are much quieter than expected. One real negative is this laptop will not allow Windows Hello and you must input your pin during boot up. I thought this was a standard feature on all laptops - even low end ones. ASUS - why no facial recognition? Overall, for a mid-range gaming laptop, ASUS has a winner. It is worth your time to see one and determine if it is right for you. I am looking forward to spending more time with it to learn more about settings and the included software designed for gamers.
