Absolutely essential, since they stopped including a writeable Drive on your lap top!!! This one works well and is a great value for the price. Small enough to take with you when you travel!! I took it to Europe and it worked fine with the Danish voltage.

The first CD burner I ever saw was the size of a microwave. Now they are relics of a bygone era, and they do DVDs (remember those?). This works as advertised and will transport you back to your childhood.

Name brand at an excellent price. It does what it is supposed to do, straight forward, and simply. My only issue is that I had to get this since the computer manufacturers have taken optical drives out of laptops - but this Asus Zen Drive certainly works for me.

Seems quite adequate for my needs. It's lightweight and quite portable. It could be faster. I haven't used it a lot because there's really not a lot of call for a CD reader and writers anymore. The rack seems to be a little flimsy but it works well and probably shouldn't be beaten on any how. So if you are a heavy-handed goon you should pass this one up

It worked great for a while (8 or 9 months) then it started slowing down. Maybe it was the media I was using. It would not read some of my CDs but some it read fine. It started going slower and just spinning, making a whistling noise. I don't use it much but when I do it usually works, just needs a little TLC

Great addition to my apple air. I NEEDED THIS PRODUCT TO WATCH MANY CD THAT I have. A positive addition and I recommend to others.

This is a very nice machine to replace the one in my old computer. Plays Cd's well. Easy to load. Very nice price. compact and hooks up without issue.

Not many uses for CD-ROMs these days. Most computers these days don’t come with one. Every once in a while there is a need for one though. Having an external drive is nice. It’s a very quiet drive. Read speeds are as described. Works great!

I love this little DVD player. My new HP desktop did not have an optical player and I do watch DVDs from time to time on the computer and this does the job well at a modest price. I did my research and this is the best one out there for this price range...

I had to move files from a laptop to my computer and couldn’t use an USB drive because of security protocols. This little drive was just the tool to accomplish what I needed. It was quick, quiet and easy to install.

Received the new PC about 2 days ago. Looks like it is a keeper. Very happy with the machine itself - performs very well. I am having issues with loading in the software for the various flight simulators. Don't fully understand the technology. Other than that, no complaints.

This works as a nice back up to my failing disc drive in my computer or for my notebook when I want to upload stored data or music. It does its job, and it does it well.

For the price I paid, this works really well. It is quiet and light weight. I have used it to back up my pictures and I use it to make mp3's of my Cd's (Yes I still have those)

Works great on my laptop which does not have a DVD drive like most late model computers. I have heard some complaints about compatibility but I had no issues.

This was very simple to use. Opened the box, plugged it in and my Windows 10 system set it all up and I was able to start ripping CDs and DVDs. Simple to use. I will not use this item very often but it was inexpensive and works. I am satisfied.

Great little external dvd/cd drive. Plays cds well without a lot of noise. Haven't tried to write cd yet. Includes both type connecter cords, Seems very light weight & fragile, but it does the job well.

This works great with my Asus laptop. Bought this to read/download photos from dvds. It's replacing a LG that was unreliable at best & finally crapped out. This Asus is a big improvement.
