Since the phone we were replacing was an AT&T model that had served us well over several years, I focused mainly on buying another AT&T model. It seems to be priced well in comparison to the competition, but I am the extremely frugal type and not prone to spending $129.99 for a new phone. Fortunately, I was able to use a BB coupon to save 12% and a few RZ certificates to get this at a bargain price. Sound quality is excellent, although we do experience the slightest hum even using a filter for our DSL (I am still investigating...someone said it might be the house alarm system). We have only tested the range by going to the backyard, and it worked great. This model is sleek, and the handsets are lightweight but without the cheap feel to them that other brands seem to have. The buttons are easy-to-read and push, and I like their blue glow. The voice instructions for the answering machine are much more helpful than our old model...saves me from guesswork or having to find the instructions to change settings. I am very happy with this purchase.

    Geat Value

Bought this set 4 months ago. Local store discounted to the internet price. Unbelievable value for the price. You get 5 handsets total, and a digital answering machine. Handsets share a database, so adding a number to the directory makes it available to all. Clearing a call list clears the call list on all. Range is outstanding, and calls are totally clear. Battery life is excellent. A couple of handsets have taken a fall without damage. Remote charging cradles are small, stylish, and un-offensive. Do wish you could retrieve messages from the handsets instead of playing them on the base station speakerphone, but otherwise features are excellent.

This is a nice phone it sounds very clear and is very durable(were dropping it all the time) The volume doesn't get real high but it's plenty loud enough for the average person. All in all it's a great phone at a great buy!

Excellent phone. Easy to use. Buttons are sturdy and are perfect size. Not too many phones these days are used for wall mounting, but this is one of the ones that can be. Need to be just a little bit careful when placing phone on main charger, though, if wall mounted. Haven't had any problems with it.

Super quality phone for the average family. I have dropped the phone atleast 5 times and no damage at all. Only thing I can see as a negative is the volume can not go super high for hard of hearing but otherwise the best phone on the market.

Great for the price, but missing a couple of features that I actually miss from my previous phone system No ringer ID (mainly for family members, no need to look @ the phone since a specific ring style would be used for a specific phone #) No DIAL pad on the main base so it cannot be used to make calls or to even received them, unless 1 of the headsets is used. Can't check messages from any headset, it can only be done from the main base.

    Buy It!

Purchased SL82518 6-17-08 I'm enthusiastic about this system. Did considerable research before purchase. Read user manuals of leading competitors & At&t is most understandable. Base unit & all handsets work as advertised & easy to set up. Wife & I are quite old and maybe suffer some hearing loss so we would like greater loudness from handsets, but switching to speakerphone improves volume. No other criticism. Range is good thruout a long rancher. Only have to program one handset & automatically transfers to all. Favorite feature is the "up to 12 handsets" & I've already ordered 3 more bringing my total to 8. Nice appearance. Only base unit needs plugged into phone outlet. Each handset has own charger. Each handset ring tone & volume is independently adjustable. Best Buy retail store honored Internet price.

    Poor Sound

We found callers were hard to hear on the phones and the volume control didn't vary volume levels enough. My husband who is normally very loud and I have to turn down, was just right!

I am really disappointed in this phone. The least I wanted to be able to do was see who was calling but the screen on the MAIN phone is blank and can't get fixed. Not worth the money.
