A good compromise among price, features and style
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Vtech bought AT&T so the phones are electronically the same. The Vtechs are the price leader but are rather ugly. The AT&Ts look much nicer but cost a bit more. Panasonic beats them both on range and features but costs the most. Their basic black looks fine. Uniden is an also-ran and doesn't get quite the excellent reviews as the others. Compare the cost of extra handsets: *Vtech $15 *AT&T $20 *Panasonic $40 We went with AT&T as a good compromise among price, features and styling. And we wanted to wall mount the base unit, which the Panasonics don't do very well because they sit on a kind of shelf that sticks out. We didn't want an answering machine because we have Voice Mail with our VOIP provider. The VM light works and does go out when you have deleted the VMs. It's only on the base unit, tho. The only problem we had was a loud clicking sound during the dial-tone which was fixed when our VOIP provider turned down their over-boosted volume. We did not have this problem on a regular phone line or another VOIP company. This phone will most often be purchased by people with VM so it's a bit strange that is has no VM button. You you can very nicely compensate for this my adding a VM listing to your Directory and putting a "1" in front of its name so it's always first. This should be documented in the manual but isn't. The scroll buttons on the AT&Ts go left and right which is less intuitive than the Vtechs and most other phones which go up and down. The speakerphone works great, much better than a cellphone. If you set it on a hard table or counter, it's plenty loud and clear. Perfect for working in the kitchen. The regular earpiece could be louder tho, if you are hard of hearing. I will probably buy another of the same set so I will then have six handsets and two bases. Our VOIP provider gives us a free 2nd line so I will probably put one phone on one line and five on the other. All for $120. Not bad. BTW, if you have a Chase or other credit card which gives you cash back at bestbuy.com, you can order online for in-store pickup and still get your cash back. I got 3% which helps pay the sales tax. Read the user manuals online before you buy to see if you are getting all the features you want. The Panasonics have things such as headphone jacks and clips, personalized rings and VM lights on the handsets (I think). But you will pay much more for extra handsets and more for the original units. For shear bang for the buck, you can't beat the homely Vtech.

One Of The Best Out There!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried several models before deciding to go with this one, the range is excellent, even when outside the house or in the second floor, I love being able to use the phone as an intercom too, most of the changes you do in any of the sets will automatically propagate to the other handsets, really nice touch. I have Ooma VOIP service and it's been working wonderfully with it so far, when you have new Voice Mail the phone has a light in the front of the main unit which lights up in red and an envelope icon so you know you have new mail. in the rest of the sets you only get to see the envelope icon in the phone screen instead. I pre-programmed my own phone number (that's what you dial to access your voice mail in Ooma if you are not retrieving it from the Telo directly) on the phone's directory and added a #1 (or you could use special characters I guess such as [ or * etc instead) before the words "Voice Mail" so that's the first entry that shows up in the phone book directory, so now to access Voice Mail I just press the DIR key then press the Speaker Phone Key and it dials automatically then Presto I'm listening to Voice Mail with just two simple clicks! My mom loves it! I would recommend this phone to anyone!

Excellent Value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently switched my home phone to Ooma (VOIP) service. I love ooma... because it's free. However.. the optional ooma handset was not quite as good as the base unit - so I returned it and bought this AT&T setup. It works fantastic with VOIP phone service. I got my system on sale about 2 months ago for $59.99 - so I got a great deal considering that it included 3 handsets. The phone feels very durable. The screen is easy on the eyes. The sound quality is fantastic. And the range is very good for a cordless. I have one handset on every level of my home. One in the finished basement.. one on the main level.. and one on the second floor finished attic. I love the intercom feature. It's great to call someone else in the house if they are on another floor. The message indicator works flawlessly. And I love that you can store contacts in a phone book - like a cell phone. Overall... I am very happy with this phone. You'll be very satisfied if you choose to buy this phone system. I hope this review helps..

Great phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This phone was purchased as a replacement for a GE expandable. I like this one so much more. The screen display is easy to read, and the phone is easy to use. The battery has stayed charged longer than any home phone I have ever owned. This is really a strong product. I just wish it had a do not disturb button on it. I used that feature daily on the old GE phone.

Great phones
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had looked for a long time for a cordless phone set without an answering phone. I failed to find one until my daughter, in Kentucky, sent me the info on this phone set. We both now own one. I ordered it on line and picked it up at the store. I even changed store locations and Best Buy took good care of me.

Very good value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very good value. Was looking for a phone in this price range with at least two handsets. Very pleased. Could use a bit more functionality. Can't set custom ringer for individual incoming phone numbers. No place to plug in a handsfree headset.

Great phones
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These phones have great range, good clarity and long battery life. I especially like that the base unit lights up when you have a message waiting. I have voicemail online with my phone provider and this is the first phone I have seen that would do this.

Excellent phone system
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These phones have all the necessary features, without being impossible to figure out. The menus are clear and setup is easy. There are adequate ringtones. They are easy to use, and share contacts, so when you change one, the change is passed to all phones. They have a small footprint. The one possible con is they don't seem to have an auto-answer option, so when you pick up the receiver, you always must press a button to answer. This actually may be a feature, avoiding answering unwanted calls without looking. I recommend these phones.

Great quality, great price, great product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought these phones for my grandmother and her sister to replace hard-wired phones. They are simple to use, especially for two elderly ladies. Voice quality is fantastic. Only downside is that the ringer could be louder, and that you contributing to Chinese made hardware and union-based AT&T.

it's just a phone

Nice phone system
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really liked the fact that I could add additional lines for as low as $18. Additionally it was very easy to add the new phone to the system. It's also nice to only have to hook the phone to one wall jack: less cords, less trying to figure out where to place the phone.
