This product is expensive so I felt it would boost cell signal at least 1 bar. It did not. The cords are very short bad hot easy to put in a position product can be best utilized. I ended up returning the item since it failed to work at all for my lack of signal at my home which is 2 miles off the interstate.

Even with faults, best hotspot by far.

The Liberate replaced a MiFi unit I had with Horizon for the past two years. I use it to bring mobile connectivity to a 3rd generation iPad and a 5th generation iPod touch. I use both my devices as phones (google talk & Talkatone) so it is imperative that I stay connected most all the time. Battery - OMG, easily 12 hours! I stick my Liberate in my pocket in the morning and I'm good for the whole day. No other hotspot comes close. Just make sure GPS is off when you're not using it. Speed - All 4G lte networks are blazing fast with a strong connection. The difference comes when only 2 bars are showing. Verizon slows down to a crawl, whereas ATT still zips along at about 8 Mbps. Cost - I pay $20/mnth on a shared data plan with 4 other family phones. We share 6 gigs which is more than enough as long as you're not streaming video. ---Features--- Touch Screen - A cool feature, but not a good reason to buy the Liberate. The Liberate is actually easier to control via it's outstanding web site. Micro SD slot - Great feature. I don't have a lot of memory on my devices, so it's nice to pop a couple movies on a an SD and let the kids share them on a long drive. File Sharing - With cloud sync like Dropbox , I don't see the point. GPS - I was really hoping this would work since it's not available on ios devices without integrated cellular data. To my disappointment, the protocol used by Liberate (NMEA) is only supported by a handful of ios apps. None of which have land based maps or turn by turn navigation. Perhaps this will change as wifi GPS becomes more available. Summary - If you need mobile connectivity with fast speeds that will last all day, Liberate is your best ( and only? ) option. With a data sharing plan, it's also ridiculously cheap.

Great purchase, faster than home router

Out of the box, it took me 5 minutes to be up and running. After personalizing my settings on the touch screen as well as on the website, I was very satisfied with the purchase. I currently have my laptop, my iPhone, and occasionally my son's Xbox connected to it. All work flawlessly (We have great LTE in our area). I grew tired of the internet connection and of my son complaining about the connection on the home WiFi we were sharing; and decided to change my plan to include this Mifi. After the switch, his "lagging" when playing on his Xbox (COD, Left 4 Dead, etc) had stopped. I did research prior to purchasing this about Data use. Surprisingly, playing Xbox FPS online did not consume that much data. Which is a definite plus!! My laptop consumed more data than his Xbox on average hourly. Due to my "capped" internet status now (10G/month shared with 2 devices), I am now being more mindful of my data usage every day. So far, so good. I recommend installing bandwidth apps on your laptop like "Networx" to track your data usage in real time (You can track individual data usage on the AT&T app as well, but it is not real time). My only "complaint" is the price of the plan attached to this. I wish there was an unlimited data option for this service. Those options seem to be fading away. Other than that, again, I am very satisfied with my purchase. ***Update: about a couple of days prior to my monthly plan resetting, the "Data Usage" app displays" 0.00 of plan used." I called AT&T and they said that this was normal, and the app isn't as accurate compared to actually going online and checking your data usage. Sure enough, when your plan resets, it displays your total data usage again.

I bought this so wi-fi would be portable...although it's supposed to have a fairly long battery life I have not seen it with my product. It is nice to have but I have because of it's portability. Internet speed is fine and I have managed not to out use the data plan it comes with.

    Excellent MIFI in My Area

After having tried two other mifi units I finally found this one. I returned the other two and love this one. In my area the AT&T signal is strong everywhere, which means I can turn on my peronal MIFI and use my tablets or notebook computers anywhere I go - even in the car. It has a strong receiver and outputs a strong signal making it convenient to use the computer anywhere. I revised my AT&T plan at BestBuy and now I am saving $100 a month on my bill plus now have this unit added to my account with 10GB of data monthly. I am one happy camper!

I tried AT&T's other hotspot called the Elevate. Dirty piece of garbage that was. I then went to the Sprint Mifi, not great either. Broke both contracts, paid the price and now that I have the Liberate, it was totally worth it. Super long batter life, super fast 4GLTE action and you can monitor your data usage on the cool little touch screen. Haven't used it yet but apparently you can serve up media off the microSD. So far it is pretty awesome. Will revise this post every 30 days based on travel and how it holds up.
