Excellent secondary phone, with 1-touch dailing for emergencies, Caller ID, and no need for electricity in case of blackout. Easy to program and operate. At $14.99, one of the great bargains in electronics. Only drawback is weak visual display due to battery power. But at this price, it's hard to kick.

I have this phone set up as a landline, sharing the line with a DSL internet connection. I agree with previous reviewers that the phone has a definite hiss to it, but we found that swapping out the flat cable that comes with it (the one that plugs into the wall jack) mostly fixed the issue. We also double-filtered the line and now the hiss is barely noticeable. Also, addressing previous reviews that mention the difficulty in wall-mounting - PLEASE read the instruction manual. There is a small piece that has to be flipped around to keep the receiver in place, and the reviewers who complained likely didn't do that.

    Good Stationary Phone

I had to replace several phones due to a lightning strike very close to my home. This phone served the purpose as we needed one replaced in my garage area. We had one like this for many years and decided to get another because it was very reliable. At such a low price it was a great deal and allowed us to use the caller ID feature which is always a plus. If you need a stationary type phone, this works well.

I bought 2 phones to replace old ones that were causing problems. The phone cord was too short so my wife bought a replacement for the kitchen. Overall it works well and lets you know when the line is in use in other parts of the house with a flashing light.

    We Have a Winner!

In need of a corded landline phone that would work during an electrical power outage, we did a side-by-side test of this AT&T TR1909 Corded Telephone versus the RCA 1104 Corded Telephone. The AT&T TR1909 Corded Telephone was the clear winner, based on sound quality (AT&T quite clear, RCA very muffled), ease of operation (AT&T no issues, RCA handset fits too snugly in base and Caller ID is too small to read quickly), and ringtone (AT&T just like a phone in a nice hotel, RCA like some kind of obnoxious alarm). We returned the RCA 1104 Corded Telephone, and now own two of the AT&T TR1909 Corded Telephones, in both black and white. The black is solid black, and the white has a taupe base, which goes well with neutral décor. The AT&T TR1909 Corded Telephone is a nice phone to have on hand in case you need to answer the phone and a cordless phone is not nearby, or in case you have a power outage, which will render your cordless phones temporarily useless. The AT&T TR1909 Corded Telephone is highly recommended.
