Perfect Beginner Turntable with Outstanding Sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this product has been an absolute delight to use, making it the perfect entry point for my journey into the world of vinyl. Right out of the box, the setup was straightforward, and I was spinning my favorite records within minutes. The ability to play both 33-1/3 and 45 RPM records adds versatility, and the built-in switchable phono preamp is a fantastic feature, allowing me to connect it directly to my powered speakers without any extra components. The sound quality is where this turntable truly shines. The AT-VM95C phono cartridge, with its 0.6 mil conical stylus, delivers a warm, rich sound that feels true to the original recordings. I was particularly impressed with the low distortion and excellent channel separation, which brought out details in my music that I hadn’t noticed before. The option to upgrade the stylus to different models in the VM95 Series is a great touch for future customization. The design is sleek and modern, and the anti-resonance chassis effectively dampens any unwanted noise, providing a solid listening experience. I also appreciate the thoughtful inclusion of a detachable RCA cable, a 45 RPM adapter, and a removable dust cover. In short, the AT-LP70X offers everything I could want in a beginner turntable, and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. Five stars!

Another great turntable from Audio Technica
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Audio Technica has done a fantastic job with this new LP70X turntable. The table comes in 2 versions. The LP70X series is their belt drive fully automatic table which in also available in a Bluetooth version the LP70XBT. I received the Bluetooth version, and it is great for connecting to my powered Bluetooth speakers as well as my portable speakers and headphones. It is available in 3 colors consisting of black/silver, black/bronze and white/silver. I received the black/silver version, and it is stunning. The table is simple to set up. The LP70 comes preassembled with an Audio Technica VM95C cartridge which is significant as you can upgrade the stylus with any of the ATVM95 series styluses. This is a major upgrade over the LP60 table which can only have the AT3600L stylus replaced but not upgraded. The LP70 now comes with a J shaped tone arm with a fixed stylus. There is no counterbalance or anti skate as these are preset at the factory. Unlike the LP60 the controls for start, stop and speed selection (45/78) are on top of the table under the dust cover instead of on the front of the table. Switching between 7” and 12” records is via a switch at the back of the table. Audio Technica added a tone arm lift like more conventional tables as well as a tone arm lock when the tone arm is at rest. Both the LP70X and LP70XBT have a built-in preamp that is switchable. The table can be used with a receiver with a built-in preamp, or you can use the tables built in preamp if connecting to a receiver or powered speakers that do not have a preamp built in. The table has RCA jacks with a grounding lug as opposed to a 3.5mm connection like the LP60. The table comes with grounded RCA cables as well. At a little under 7lbs this is not a very heavy table, but Audio Technica has designed the suspension to absorb vibration, and it does a great job. I have a couple of other tables, one of which weighs in at 36lbs and I was surprised at how well the AT dampened vibrations. I connected the Bluetooth table to various speakers including powered speakers, portable Bluetooth speakers, headphones and my Dolby Atmos soundbar and everything worked flawlessly. I also connected the table to my powered speakers using the tables built in preamp and it also worked perfect. I actually didn’t notice a big difference between using the built-in preamp versus the Bluetooth and considering how many options Bluetooth gives me I’ll probably end up using this option more than the built-in preamp. Speed issues seem to be an issue with some of the lower tier tables, but I found the LP70 to be spot on speed wise. There are adjustments on the bottom of the table to adjust speed for both 33 and 45 if necessary. So how does it sound. I had an unopened Super Disk copy of Carly Simons Boys in the Trees from 1978 that I bought brand new back in 1978, and it sounds amazing on this table. When connected to speakers and headphones costing significantly more than this table it is just an outstanding experience. I also connected to powered speakers costing around the same price as this table and they sound great too. At $249.00 this has got to be one of the best value entry level turntables out there and a great way to get started in the hobby. Even for someone who has been in the hobby for a long time the convenience and sound quality of this table is amazing considering the cost. This is a really impressive table in both appearance and performance, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get started listening to vinyl. Audio Technica continues their legacy of providing great products and listening experience.

Fully-automatic is by far the winning feature
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was born in 1977 which musically meant that I was growing up as records were being replaced by cassette tapes. I have no emotional attachment to records. I am not an audio purist, but I have ears and for the most part they function well. I fully embrace music playback concepts like skip, fast forward, and my favorite is shuffle. Having grown up with the transition from cassette tapes to CDs to streaming, the idea of a record player seems kinda dumb… but this record player…excuse me… turntable… brought a joy to the listening experience that I did not realize I was missing. Mechanically there’s not much to this player - it is a nice looking piece of plastic with a metal platter driven by a rubber drive belt. The ability to use Bluetooth or RCA plugs for connection to speakers is a nice touch. Bluetooth pairing is simple and quick. If you are are wiring the connection make sure to turn on or off the built-in phono equalizer function. The magic happens when you press the Start button and the fully-automatic feature moves the tonearm into position and begins playing the music. That initial cracking and popping before the music starts is a primal magic that triggers something deep so that when that first note hits your whole body just absorbs the music. Having missed the record buying experience of my youth, I raided my parents basement and found a few hundred LPs collecting dust. It’s been a joy over the last week digging through the collection and discovering new artists I’d never heard of along with more modern music. I’ve encountered more than my fair share of records that are scratched and skip or were never properly put back into dust jackets and are just filthy. While some things can’t be solved without replacing the record entirely, this turntable does a pretty good job of handling minor glitches with the records but it will get hung up on occasion. Audio-Technica offers 6 additional stylus that can be used with this turntable. They have fun names like “conical bonded” or “micro linear nude” with prices all over the map. I you are into that kind of thing you have choices if you don’t like the stylus included. Oh and in case you are a computer person like me, stylus in this case refers to the needle, not the input device we use to write on tablets. If I had to offer a suggestion for improvement, the plastic dust cover is a great addition during playback if kids or pets are in the home to avoid disaster, but practically I would have preferred the Start and Stop buttons be positioned outside of the dust cover. It seems odd to me that I place the record, press Start and then close the lid. I would rather place the record, close the lid then press Start but that is not an option if you plan to use the dust cover. The thing is removable so you might never even use it.

Very nice turntable with a few great features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I consider myself and old Audiophile. Back in the day, I had the best amplifier, pre-amplifier, tape deck, speakers, and turntable. That equipment is long gone, but I still have a collection of some of my favorite records, despite not having anything to play them on. That changed when I got an Audio-Technica AT-LP70XBT Turntable. This turntable doesn’t require all of the fancy equipment that I used to have, to hear great music from my records. If you have all that stuff, great. Just plug in the RCA cables between the turntable and your amp. A pre-amplifier is built in and controlled by a switch on the back of the turntable. You are all set to go. If you don’t, all you need is a pair of Bluetooth headphones, ear buds, or speakers. Put your audio output device into pairing mode, hold the Bluetooth button on the turntable for about 2 seconds and the turntable will pair with your device. The turntable is pretty simple to assemble. You put the aluminum platter on the spindle, and using the attached strap, you pull the drive belt over the appropriate drive wheel and remove the strap. Put the felt covered playing surface onto the platter, remove the wire holding the arm in place, and remove the cover from the needle. There are two hinges you insert into slots on the back and the cover slides onto the hinges. The turntable has 4 buttons. There is the previously mentioned Bluetooth button, a 33/45 rpm button, a Stop button and a Start button. Put your LP on the spindle, select the 33rpm mode and hit the Start button. The arm lifts up and goes to the first track on the record. When you hit the stop button, the arm lifts up, returns to it’s resting place and the platter stops spinning. If at any time you want to change songs, there is a lever to lift that slowly lists the needle from the record. You can then place it where ever you want it, and lower the lever. The needle will slowly drop down to the record and playing resumes. You can’t get much easier than this. You can use it with any Bluetooth device, with an amp or pre-amp, if you want, and it has interchangeable cartridges. It sounds great, and works great too. If you have records that you want to play, I can highly recommend this turntable.

Rediscovering Vinyl, again.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Audio-Technica turntable immediately impresses with its sleek and minimalist design. It seamlessly blends into any modern living space, available in both classic black and elegant white finishes. The dust cover is a welcome addition, protecting your precious records from dust and debris when not in use. The build quality is solid, with a sturdy plinth and a die-cast aluminum platter that ensures stable rotation and minimal vibration. While not the heaviest turntable on the market, it feels substantial and well-made, inspiring confidence in its longevity. As a fully automatic turntable, the Audio-Technica excels in user-friendliness. Setting it up is a breeze, even for those new to vinyl. Simply place the platter, attach the belt, balance the tonearm, and you're ready to spin. The automatic start/stop function eliminates the need for manual cueing, making it incredibly convenient for casual listeners. The built-in phono preamp allows for direct connection to powered speakers or any audio system with an auxiliary input. If you prefer a more traditional setup, you can bypass the preamp and connect to an external phono stage. One of the standout features of this turntable is its Bluetooth capability. Pairing it with your wireless headphones or speakers is effortless, offering the freedom to enjoy your vinyl collection without the constraints of wires. While audio purists may argue that wired connections provide superior sound quality, the Bluetooth implementation here is surprisingly good. It delivers a compelling combination of features, performance, and user-friendliness. Whether you're a seasoned vinyl enthusiast or a newcomer to the format, this turntable provides a satisfying and enjoyable listening experience. Be sure to get one of you're an audiophile with a taste for quality and wireless.

Excellent player
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had an Audio-Technicha turntable for about 20 years. It was a player that was at the time for me an upgrade from the one I had before, but a reasonable price. I still have it today in my basement main entertainment room. It is reliable and I like how it automatically drops the needle for you with the push of a button, and the stops at the end of the side. I wanted another for my bedroom and I saw this come up, and other than it having some slight style updates, it is virtually the same player. The black bronze is color I got, sharp looking. My old one black and silver. The cartridges appear interchangeable between the two, but I'm not going to pull either off to try it, because the other works great, I don't want to disturb it, never have had an issue with it. Actually have a spare needle that came with it in a package still with it. This has an important update, Bluetooth. I've hooked this up to the system in the basement to test wired (rca) and it sounds great, warm full sound, the lid closes and I get no needle noise. It does does sound just a slight bit puncher (crisp/delineated) more than my old one, but not by much. That’s likely because much of my favorite stuff is only as good as the vinyl it’s laid on, and a lot of it is old. Moving this unit up to my bedroom, I don't have a reciever unit, but I do have a soundbar with bluetooth, and this connects very easily to it. There is no distortion that I notice, and the records stay gripped to the plate. Testing both 33 and 45 rpm's all sound good. I have nothing to say bad about this. It is a bit more expensive even adjusted for inflation than my first one was, but the build on this feels solid, button push is good. I have to give this a 5 star review.

*Retro with Good Modern Twists*
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The crackle of static in between songs...watching the record steadily turn in circles...reading the lyrics off of the record sleeves...looking over the album artwork...challenging myself to place the needle exactly on the right spot...but also, explaining to my kids what the difference is between 33 and 45 speeds, how to determine where to put the needle when you want a certain song ("how do you know where song number 6 is?"), what it means when a record "skips", and the concept of "sides" of a record... I have been successfully transported to my early childhood memories of scratching my older sisters' records, listening to my own when I was older, buying 45's (loved the clear neon-colored ones I had from ELO..."Telephone Line" anyone?), flipping through my dad's extensive vinyl collection with lots of Big Band. Yet I can experience all this throwback goodness with great modern conveniences thrown in that make for the best experience. For one, I appreciate that this turntable can be connected to a Bluetooth speaker (although it can also be connected to a traditional wired audio system as well, and comes with the proper cables to do so). I like that it has Stop and Start buttons that automatically place the needle at the beginning of the record and/or return the needle/tonearm to its resting place with a simple press. And one of my favorite features is the control lever which raises the tonearm so you can position it over the exact groove you're aiming for, then gently lowers it (and vice versa) so even if you don't have the steady hands of a surgeon you'll still have no worries about accidentally scratching the record or placing it onto the wrong groove...bet my older sisters wish our 70's turntable had this feature back when I'd secretly play their records when they weren't home! There is a bit of assembly required, but it's pretty straightforward and simple; the directions are clear with its instructions and helpful pictures. The result is a nice, clean and sleek look, worthy of any tabletop as a showpiece when not in use (and when in use especially!).

For Your Listening Pleasure
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.[PROS] Easy setup: The AT-LP70XBT is straightforward when it comes to assembly and getting started. I've put together a record player before, but Audio Technica includes a setup guide to make the process easier. Fortunately, everything came together without issue. Bluetooth: What a joy to not have to be tethered to speakers. Don't get me wrong: I love the clarity and the experience of speakers. However, I'm running out of space in my entertainment center and I love connecting these speakers to my headphones. Connecting devices is a matter of pressing a button and engaging with the device that you want to connect. Great Audio Output: I'm very impressed by the sound quality of this turntable. For a product in lesser tier, music did sound sound warm yet vibrant as I swapped among different records. [CONS] Default stylus: I have no major qualms with this turntable. If I could point out something is that one might desire a higher quality stylus to be included. The stylus that comes with the product is fine, but a better one could definitely enrich the audio experience more. Fortunately, upgrading can be done in mere seconds so kudos to Audio Technica! [CONCLUSION] The AT-LP70XBT is great turntable for the new listener and casual vinyl enthusiast. With a streamlined setup, wireless features, and simple controls, I'm able to easily enjoy my ever growing collection. It's basic, but it does its job well.

Wonderful Audio Memories Brought to Life
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very innovative product. I found it to be fabulous and fun. It is packed extremely well so you can be sure it isn’t damaged. The design is clean and totally functional. Out of the box, you will need to simply follow the Quick Start Guide. Make sure you have all the parts and it’s just a very quick study to learn the few important functions; so I recommend a pre-review of the Quick Start Guide especially in terms of the ‘auto’ versus the manual process. Indeed the settings on the device are intuitive and include 45 rpm versus 78 rpm, the size of the record (either 7 inches or 12 inches), your Bluetooth pairing button, your tonearm lift and your tonearm clamp. Don’t forget to remove the stylus protective cover (and replace when you are done playing). You will need to slip the drive belt over the motor pulley – easy to do. You plug in the AC adaptor to the back of the turntable. The Quick Start is very well written with useful pictures, so it is simple to set everything up in about 5 minutes. There is also an online manual. I played some cool jazz first (just like Bosch from the TV show) using a 78 rpm record. I used auto and also tried manual modes. My speakers were my stereo headphones. This unit does reproduce the audio in stereo – so be prepared for a real treat to hear those old records come to life. Bluetooth pairing was exceptionally fast and simple - in about 1 second the headphones were paired. There is a pairing LED on the turntable and it will be solid blue; tip of the cap to the design engineers for giving us that indicator so you know you are absolutely paired. The sound was beautiful. What a rush to hear records played on a turntable again with the modern twist of a Bluetooth speaker. Yes, the old records have some dust and possibly some minor scratches you may hear. I plan to purchase some new LP’s and intend to keep them super clean. There is a beautiful dust cover that comes with the unit. You will need to slip the included hinges into the dust cover and then slip them into the hinge grooves on the turntable. I also played this unit through my 50 year old Harman Kardon receiver/amplifier. The turntable comes with the RCA cables so you can connect the turntable wired to an amplifier right to the designated ‘Phono’ ports. I really loved this device and it was great to hear how the sound from vinyl is so vibrant via your wired or wireless speakers. I highly recommend this turntable.

Too Expensive! Too Light! Too Entry Level!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the AT-LP70XBT in Bronze and Black. I ended up returning it within 24 hours after listening to the A side of 3 records. The automatic feature is great, but it already acted finicky right out of the box. The stylus jumped and skipped on any record not perfectly straight. Also to my ear the speed at 33_1/3 was just slightly off, but there was no easy way to check or adjust. Save yourself $50, get the non-BT version. I couldn't get the unit to sync to my UE Boom3. Walking around while playing a record caused a problem. I have hardwood floors and the floor creaks, bounces depending on time of the year. I was able to notice the arm wouldn't stay in contact if someone walked closely to the player. For only an additional $75, I ended up going with the Pioneer DJ PLX-500, which much heavier, uses universal head, has a much better adjustability on arm force, and has a visual speed check with quartz.

Sadly, not a good purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received this turntable mid-January and for the first couple of days was happy with it. Literally about 3 days later, it started to skip, and this happened using brand new records. I researched and purchased cleaning products for the records and needle because static can build up quick. Helped a little but then got worse again. I continued to try and work with it. I’ve only had the turntable for a short period of time. Seems you can’t return an item about 3 weeks after purchase (or 1 month after purchase date). The only option offered is to pay an additional $180 for a protection plan and set up a repair appt. This turntable had good reviews. Probably will take it as a loss.
