Direct Drive & Built like a Brick House

First Impression: The Box is Heavy! Every feature available is in this turntable from the pre-amp to the USB computer interface (with software). This may seem to be pricy for a turntable but you get what you pay for and this will be the last turntable you will ever need to buy. (belts on belt driven eventually rot away)

    Awesome turntable for the price

I shopped around in stores for a new turntable and kept getting disappointed at the junk I saw, I finally came across this on Best Buys website and got excited. I read the reviews and had to order it and I was not let down. I was very impressed by the weight of the box when I picked it up at the store. This is very well built for 2014.

Good replacment for my 45 year old Dual 1219

I read many reviews on many turntables and found none 100% but this one looked to me the best for making CD's. It turned out a good buy. I did not have any troubles at all. I found YouTube videos more helpful for set up than the book. The installing Audacity book could use some updating, it goes up to XP but windows 10 was smart enough to make all the setups correctly. Cords that came with it were a plus. I came from a multiple-play LP turntable to a manual turntable so there is an adjustment. I bought this off the shelf at the store anther plus.

    Highly recommended! Buy it!

I bought this turntable in August. A Music/Entertainment Store went out of business. I bought lots of records for a few cents each. They sound great on this turntable. If it skips for you after going through the instructions, you might want to adjust the two screws over the stylus. It should work. I bought powered speakers by Edifier from Amazon for $99. Highly rated and I would recommend them. I'm considering to buy another turntable to use when I am in the basement. This turntable has been rated high on many websites! Get it!

    Good Entry Level

It is a good entry level turntable for the money. I use two of these to DJ 45s at coffee shops & parties. Heavy weight and durable for the money. If you listen to records more than a couple times a month I suggest going with an upgraded needle or checking into the Audio Technica website for professional models. Enjoy your records!

    Very Well Engineered with Precision

Frankly, I was impressed more with this when I took it out of the box, and realized how well engineered the product is. The precision adjustments, and aluminum construction is very impressive. The arm balance,anti-skate tracking, and height adjust was very cool. I did not though realize it did not return the arm to resting position after the play completed, but that's very minor. The other issue I had is the needle or stylus was slightly bent and that's the reason for the 4 stars and not 5. I felt that a bit of QA would have caught that. Nevertheless, I immediately called Audio-Technica support and they were very responsive, and are sending me a new needle right away. I did play a few tracks and they do sound quite brilliant. But will wait until I get the new needle.

    Great turntable

I bought this turntable to convert my vinyl to MP3 and I am very pleased with the setup. The software was a big disappointment but I will spend the $30.00 on the program from Vinyl Studio. I tried their free version and it is a whole lot easier to convert to a WAV or MP3 file than the Audacity software. I am enjoying my collection of vinyl records once again and am very pleased with this purchase. I am also planning on an upgraded stylus, needle,& mat in the near future.

    Great Turntable for the Price

Affordable, yet stylish, with plenty of available adjustments, this turntable from Audio Technica is sure to please any vinyl enthusiast or beginner as well. The only downside is the very short, hardwired RCA cables but this can be easily fixed with an extension. Other than that, easy set up due to the pre-mounted cartridge and clear audio. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get started with vinyl or for those looking to upgrade from a lower end table.

    Love It!

Great sound quality. It works well with my existing speaker system. It's even better when I use a Buletooth transmitter to listen to it through my Bluetooth speaker systems. I ended up getting an old school receiver with equalizer so now my music sounds as good as my parents' high end stereo system did in the 1970-1980's. It's solid, has great features and sound quality - way better than the cheaper brand that I tried and returned.

Love it but wish it had the 60 features

I decided to get back into vinyl recently with urgings from the wife. I got her the LP60 for the kitchen and I got the 120 for the big system in the basement. It works wonderfully but I have a hard time understanding that for three times the price why it doesn't have the auto start and return features the 60 does. I love just hitting the start button on the wife's unit and let it go knowing it will return when done. I get it, it's direct drive but it would be perfect with the other features the 60 has.

OK, let me preface this by the fact that I'm not going to buy this turntable because my ex turned all my vinyl into sludge. That said I'm an old school DJ and this turntable looks like an updated Technics 1200 Mk II! I paid 1000.00 for 2 of these back in the day. Not a better turntable anywhere! Trust me.

    Not bad but needed returned

Purchased one after reading many reviews on other sites with the hopes that the platter issues they have had were eliminated. Got it home and set up. There is a YouTube post by AT that makes set up very easy. But just as I had read about, the platter was warped. So I contacted Audio-Technica about this and they sent out a new platter which I received in less than 24 hours. It came warped as well and with the strobe circles on the side chewed up a bit. They told me to send it back and that they would sent out another. So I sent it back. Now they inform me that their stock of platters all have a "wobble" and that the technician says that "it should not affect the performance of the table". Anyone who owns a turntable knows that any "wobble" of the platter means that the stylus, the tone arm and not to mention the records themselves will all start to wear prematurely from the stress of the arm compensating for all of that negative up and down action from just normal usage. So, what started as really great customer service, ended up negatively. I'm not saying all of these turntables have this problem. But there are some that do. If you get one in perfect condition I have no doubt you will love it. If you get one with a bad platter, just return it and save yourself the time of hoping Audio-Technica will, or even can, resolve the problem. Not to mention, if they send you a replacement for a defective part and it turns out to be defective as well, and you need to send it back to them for another replacement part, you will do so at your own cost with no promise that they will send out another. So be warned on that. This is not a slam on AT either. I own a couple of their products and am very pleased with them. Do your own research of this on many sites like you should for any product. There are many pleased people who own this product. And many who have had similar issues.

A lot of turntable for the money

The Audio Technica LP120 is an excellent turntable. There are a lot of features on the turntable. It can roll at 33, 45, or 78 with the counterweight adjustable on the tone arm. The cartridge is replaceable, the tone can be adjust, the player can go forward or backward. It is direct drive so it spins up to speed immediately and the motor doesn't do much to throw off the sound of the player. Overall this is a heavy unit with an aluminum turntable and legs below that dampened vibration. For some the negative would be it does not have an auto start or auto return, though I find that to not be an issue at all. Tracking is very good, sound is excellent. There are more expensive turntables out there but the AT-LP120 is superior to most I've heard that can cost 2 to 3 times as much as it.
