Definitive 3D
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you own a 3D TV you have to buy it. It's the movie to impress the 3D naysayers. It's a long movie but the 3D is the some of the best around. I saw it in theaters in 3D and it looks even better with my active 3D glasses at home. I do wish Fox would release the extended edition/special edition in 3D since this is only the theatrical. This is a long movie so be prepared to pause it, take the glasses off, and give yourself some time to recover if your eyes can't handle 3D for long periods of time. Outside of Titanic in 3D it's one of the longest movies I have ever watched in 3D and when it was over my eyes were seeing 3D effects on normal broadcast TV without the glasses on ( which was cool but kind of concerning at the same time). If you buy a 3DTV and don't buy this movie you're doing yourself an injustice. There's no other way to say it. It's worth every dollar.

AVATAR STILL RETAINS ITS MAGIC & ALLURE!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.AVATAR 3-Disc Extended Collector's Edition scores top rate with this viewer. I also own the 3D DVD, but the features included with this edition are awesome. Revisiting this awesome film again after so many years hasn't diminished the incredible nature of not just the special effects, but the movie is as ahead of its time as it was when first released in 2009. Immerse yourself in AVATAR again and relive all the magic again, even though it isn't the IMAX 3D of 2009, but so isn't your television.

One of the best sci-fi's of the last decade
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved this movie in the theatre, even though I'm not crazy about 3D, and enjoyed it even more the 2nd time at home in 2D because it was easier to watch. After buying a new 3D plasma (Samsung's F8500), I started buying a few of my favorites on blu-ray 3D to test things out, more or less. I thought Avatar looked great on my new set in 2D, but it looks fantastic in 3D. The colors really pop, the glowing imagery in the forest really glows... they did an excellent job creating great depth and detail with this particular film and disc transfer. The CG animation is nothing short of spectacular to begin with, the music is uplifting and powerful, and the story, though simple and a bit cheesy at times, is driven well by the overall execution. I usually struggle watching a whole movie in 3D, but this one really pulled me in and kept me wanting to watch it.

3D a must
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok so the sequel opens in 2020...so you can get this pretty cheap in 3D right now like 10 bucks...Get it now before it goes up when 2020 gets closer..

Excellent movie, excellenter versions ;-)
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Avatar is a great movie, and this edition offers a couple different versions of the film, as well as an option for "family friendly" audio, which is nice in general, but I'm not sure how "family friendly" the movie is otherwise. ;-) Also, this Blu-ray collector's edition is far superior to the DVD collector's edition because each version of the movie is on the same Blu-ray disc, whereas the DVD version has the movie split across 2 discs.

Visually Stunning!!! with awesome Audio to boot!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.AVATAR... James Cameron... What else is there to say?? Sure this movie is 9 yrs old, but the picture quality and sound on the Blu-Ray release will easily stand up and/or beat any of todays top hits. The better your TV the better this will look. The Box-Set includes 3 versions of the film. Original Theatrical release- Collectors Extended Cut (+16 min) and Special Edition Re-Release ( +8 min). And 2 more discs of bonus features. Also interesting is that not he Original and Re-Release versions you can also choose a "Family Audio Track" in which "All Objectionable Language" is removed so its child friendly :-) Highly recommend this version of AVATAR!!

Still best 3D bluray movie ever made to date
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use a LG LM6200 3D TV 55" passive 3D w polarized glasses. Best 3D movie next to marvels Avengers. The colors and immersion are astounding and it truly brings you into the world. This movie is a futuristic tale reminiscent of Pocahontas w deep spirituality and a oneness wit nature. Think Native American aliens meet hippie scientists while the funding comes from a precious metal mining company that a super rare metal known as unabtanium is it like uranium or more like platinum but as far as the price goes funds the entire operation w mercenary military forces that protect the gear and operations. Without a spoiler it's a tale of sleeping w the enemy, building trust, then finally wanting to help them but the powers to be had other ideas.

5 stars with the family-friendly audio version
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I saw this movie when it came out in the theaters and was both awed by the movie and more than a little irritated. What an entertaining movie, except for the punctuation of foul language. I vowed to never purchase the movie, but my wife had seen a version release for the television and loved it. She said there was no offensive language in the version she saw. With a little research we found that the Extended Collector's version had a family-friendly audio track. It was the same beautiful visuals without the language. Now I have no problems viewing it with anyone. Kudos to Best Buy for having it in stock when few other places did.

One of the best 3-D movies ever!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Avatar is so well known that I won't review the film, but the 3-D presentation. My review in a word: WOW! This is one of the best examples of how 3-D can be utilized in a film that I have ever encountered! I've seen Avatar many, many times, but in 3-D the sense of scale and distance was awesome and on a level I had never before imagined. The scenes very high up in the Home Tree looking down are dizzying. The flying sequences were breathtaking in 3-D. I never knew all the screens and displays on all of the control panels were displaying 3-D graphics either until I saw this version. If you are a fan of 3-D and have not seen this film in full 3-D...shame on you! Get it now!

Interesting story and great visuals
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When this first came out, it was decried by the political right and lauded by the political left. The story does tend to push the left-leaning ecology point-of-view, as well as being very anti-military-industrial-complex. But whatever your political leanings, you can watch the story for what it is, even if you don't agree with the way it's presented. At worst, the imagery is breath-taking. The 3D for the film was created using stereo cameras while filming (most 3D films now use computers to generate the 3D effect afterward) and I saw where this was one of the first (if not the very first) use of motion capture (mocap) to give the CGI creatures facial emotions from the actors playing them. As for this 3DBD release, there are some drawbacks. The BluRay disc has both a 2D and 3D vesion on the single disc. There are absolutely no Bonus Features on the disc; just the movie and the ability to select scenes. It turns out the additional DVD that comes with this is the same -- no Bonus Features. So I'll be keeping by Expanded Edition BluRay version as well as this for the 3D play.

Welcome back to Pandora!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Today was my lucky day when i went to the Best Buy store in Westbury to purchase a movie that is sadly not on Disney Plus since it's being re released in theaters this September. However i was so lucky to purchase the LAST copy of it in my store. Hopefully the long awaited sequel due out this December will be worth the wait! But this movie is only the beginning for James Cameron's Avatar...
