Yes, it’s not the best of the Marvel franchise, but it’s still Marvel so for me it’s a must own. It does look & sound great.

An entertaining sequel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Avengers is the Marvel dream team of superheroes. At some point in time we're going to see a whole slew of fresh faces that only the superfans will recognize, but for now we get an exciting mix of characters most people are aware of. Unfortunately, due to the ensemble cast, it's hard to focus on any one character and no one seems to really "shine". It's nice to see everyone working together and being their own person but this movie doesn't allow for any real growth except for "tentatively" Black Widow and Hawkeye. The Hulk is still the quiet guy who fears his own power, Captain America is still the man out of time, Iron is still all show and bravado and everything bad that comes with it. Ultron is played a lot less menacingly than you would think and has a bit of humor and swagger similar to his Iron Man (which is explained in the film). It takes away from what might have been a truly horrifying villain and drives home Marvel's issue with being unable to bring forward a truly strong villain. The action is fun and exciting. The humor is fast and loose. Still, just like the last film, there's infighting that has to get resolved before they can focus on the real foe, there's a dramatic moment, there's an army attacking a city, etc. By the end of it all, you'll start to feel the "bloat" and hope for something new and exciting to invigorate the franchise. Here's hoping.

This has to be one of my favorite movies of all times.
