I saw Endgame 3 times in the theaters and knew there was gonna be a Steelbook release. Endgame looks sick as a Steelbook and I can’t even count how many time’s I have watched it since my purchase.

CANT BELIEVE RHAT 2 out of 3 movies I got from this store won’t play! I preordered endgame and about 1.5 hours into it the disc started skipping and couldn’t play. I’m furious that I paid for the steel book to get the best available copy that I could just to be disappointed.... AGAIN! The last one was the Solo movie. I really hope they can make it worth my while to remain a customer but according to policy I can ONLY EXCHANGE it for the same one. It’s like musical 4K Blu-rays with Best Buy. I want my money back so I can bug it from Walmart

I was really looking forward to it after seeing the movie three times in theaters. Unfortunately, I noticed that the steelbook was dented after I unwrapped it at home. Don’t think I’ll be picking up pre-orders for steel books from Best Buy anymore.

As a genre, comic book superheroes have been achieving popularity similar to past genre fads, like westerns or musicals in the golden age of cinema. Many of these superhero entries are fun and entertaining. Some are not. Avengers Endgame sets itself up on two fronts: as an individual entry to the genre and as the concluding chapter in a longer cross- film narrative. Surprisingly, it succeeds nearly completely on both fronts. With much of the extended cast no longer in existence due to the prior movie, endgame can focus on fewer characters (at least until the last hour) and push satisfying narrative and character arcs through to conclusion. Each character of the original team comes to a conclusion of sorts, and just about every dangling tease or thread from earlier films is addressed or resolved. That the film executes itself in a way that feels life Ike an event comic come to life is an added bonus for fans of the genre. If you grew up reading comics you knew about the annual or bi annual cross over event (common from about 1984 forward with secret wars and crisis on infinite earths, but appearing as far back as the early 1940s when the human torch and captain America teamed up to stop the sub mariner from destroying New York). This film is such a team up event, but in live living color with awesome special effects and engaging storytelling. That it happened at all is wonderful, and that it does what it does so well is simply astounding. It’s an “event” in cinema and it deserves to be remembered and embraced as such. That said, nothing is perfect and Endgame doesn’t quite achieve the exhilarating levels of action, engagement ad excitement of its predecessor infinity war. This is not as much a critique of endgame as it is an affirmation of just how good infinity war was. Part of endgame’s issue is that it is an ending, and it knows it. As such, it feels like we are saying goodbye to some friends and that is a downer...almost for nearly throughout its entire three hour runtime. More problematic, though, is that there are more than a few rushed areas In spite of that runtime and the film felt like it needed more space for these subplots to truly stick the landing. Hawkeye as Ronin most egregious. With all the pre release focus on the character change, very little is done with him before he turns back to the light. Ant man serves very little purpose other than to be grumpy and motivate the others through his ignorance in science. Ironically it’s the tech he uses, not the man itself, that makes ore of a difference. The time travel middle act with avengers meeting their past selves feels like it wants to be as much fun a those sequences were in back to the future one and two (an intentional homage no doubt, since BTTF is mentioned several times). Avengers never fully commits to that, though, focusing on the plot point of collecting the stones and not allowing the film or the audience to relive those moments fully. These are minor complaints, of course and the film undeniably works despite these issues. The biggest faux Pax is that it breaks basic visual storytelling rules often with its “tell, don’t show” mentality. Hawkeye becomes a mass murderer, but we hear more about it than see it. The universe is falling apart but we only hear about it from captain marvel. Hulk is now professor hulk but only hear about how that happen even though that subplot was a major point of the last few movies (and the scene with the ancient one was a perfect example, yet missed, to explore that more since banner and hulk are separated there again). The universe is saved through a coincidence of a rat happening to walk across a keyboard (to be fair, infinity war did the same thing when it decimated the nova corps off screen and no one in the movie cared at any point about it). It is to the film’s testament that none of these issues break the film. It no drought is sagging under its own combined weight of being a good story and concluding the multi film saga but it soars on so many other things that it overcomes these issues quite well. It is, quite simply, a cinematic experience and knows it. It embraces that reality and succeeds as a whole. There are weaknesses throughout but are all forgivable because concluding multi film sagas that are exciting and engaging are rare. Ones that conclude a saga of this length are unheard of. Pass the popcorn and enjoy the best that superheroes can be...

A great end to a great film series! teelbook debut and it's lovely....~ Well, hopefully everyone has had a chance to see the final movie of the 11 year Marvel Movie Montage, up to phase 3. With AVENGERS 4: ENDGAME, we have come to the showdown of what happens to the criminal alien known as THANOS. *** WARNING, SPOILERS AHEAD IN REVIEW!! *** After not being able to stop THANOS from acquiring all of the "Infinity Stones" and snapping his fingers with the "Gauntlet" (albeit with THOR forcing "Stormbreaker" into his chest) in AVENGERS 3: INFINITY WAR, we are left with the remaining Avengers to regroup. Iron Man and Nebula are rescued by Captain Marvel in outer space and brought back to Earth at the Avengers HQ. After "introductions", the team, minus Iron Man for health reasons, devise a plan to find, kill, and take the stones back on the planet he has been residing on. The plan works, but....the stones have been destroyed....says THANOS. THANOS is then killed by THOR and the team leave without the Infinity Stones wondering how or ever if they can UNDO what he has done to half the Universe. This is basically the premises of the movie from this point forward. It has been a long 5 years since the "Snap" and several of the Avengers find themselves wondering what's next? Is it possible that they must accept the loss of half the Universe's population? Can they come together and devise some kind of plan to bring everyone back that was snapped away? The answer would be yes, a shot at doing just that after ANT-MAN shows up at the Avengers HQ main gate to the astonishment of BLACK WIDOW and CAPTAIN AMERICA. From here the movie gets up and going. I won't delve into the rest of the storyline because most of you know it by now for the umpteenth time. lol I found the movie very entertaining pretty much all the way through. I think the pace of it was good, considering its length of slightly over 3 hours with credits. There is no "end credits" scene, unfortunately. We are left with a mixed bag of emotions at the "end" as we say goodbye to BLACK WIDOW, IRON MAN, and CAPTAIN AMERICA (retired). I do like the fact that it wasn't going to be strongly about CAPTAIN MARVEL coming in to save the Universe all by herself. She played a decent role in it, overall, and definitely helped in defeating THANOS. Ultimately, it was the original Avengers as a team that pulled it off with the brilliant minds of Bruce Banner and Tony Stark. The movie really looks good here and sounds good in the UHD 4K disc/HD Blu-ray. I would highly recommend playing this back on a UHD 4K player for optimum look and sound. The steelbook is gorgeous and I have taken some photos of it to add to this review. I really liked the fact that they put BLACK WIDOW and IRON MAN on the inside behind the discs. LOKI and VISION are featured alongside the other Avengers and main characters on the front/back covers. Besides the movie, we get several featurettes, including a nicely done STAN LEE memorial. I wish that could have been longer, but it was good to see, nonetheless. We also get BLACK WIDOW and IRON MAN featurettes. ***** SPECIAL FEATURES ***** These are all located on the BLU-RAY "BONUS DISC" * REMEMBERING STAN LEE * SETTING THE TONE: CASTING ROBERT DOWNEY, JR. * A MAN OUT OF TIME: CREATING CAPTAIN AMERICA * BLACK WIDOW: WHATEVER IT TAKES *GAG REEL...many of the goof ups by cast and crew on set * THE RUSSO BROTHERS: JOURNEY TO ENDGAME * DELETED SCENES: There are several here...1 in particular explained GAMORRA's disappearance! We now know. (I won't "spoil" it here for those that have not seen it on the Blu-ray Bonus disc.) Personally, I would have left that one IN the movie. There were no Teasers or Theatrical Trailers on the Bonus Disc. But, I'm sure many of us have seen those plenty. I recommend getting THIS Edition, but do some looking around for a good deal! It just depends on how much you want to spend for this Steelbook. It's well done, in my opinion and I own hundreds including INFINITY WAR.

As a diehard MCU fan, I looked forward to this as much as anyone could. But because of my job, it took me until July to actually get out and see it. I avoided spoilers as best I could (and I won't give any here, so you're safe!) and hunkered down one Friday night to see it, after they added the additional scene and the extended tribute to Stan. It was just about everything you could ask for. The action scenes were, of course, epic. Probably the most difficult feat was ensuring everyone in this huge cast had their moment to shine, and the Russo Bros. pulled that off (although it did take a full three hours- a marathon, but I never thought it dragged, or became repititious). As usual, the effects were excellent, and the battles looked as real as CGI could make them. But for me, it always comes down to the actors' characterizations, their interplay and charisma, and whether they do these iconic characters justice, and stay true to their essence. This was carried out brilliantly, as if they knew where they were going from 2008. You see these heroes in the light of their humanity, their values and their idealism, as well as their flaws and failures. That is what really defined these movies for me, and watching how the characters worked through their issues and evolved. And somehow, they all managed to do that, even characters like Loki, Killmonger, Thanos and M'Baku, who could have easily been one dimensional, stereotypical bad guys, but for the phenomenal actors and the brilliant direction they received. You get to see what motivates them, and even care about them, because they are not simply the "bad guys," they have reasons to be how they are that resonate with everyone. Both Tom Hiddleston and Michael B. Jordan really exemplify this, and show how and why they became corrupted. Another phenomenal, realistic dimension brought to these stories. I will say a little bit here about Marvel's sometimes less than subtle injection of humor into these stories. When it's a natural outcome, like Dave Bautista's Drax complete earnestness, taking everything literally (a great suggestion made by the actor) played off against Chris Pratt's snarky Quill, or Thor getting repeatedly slammed by a mini van, it's a great way to ease the tension for a while. But when they go for it too much, it's like watching the Rocky Horror Picture Show, waiting to speak those lines you know are coming (one of my only criticisms of some of the more over the top moments in Ragnarok. A little goes a long way, and too much of a good thing isn't always better. Well, there are moments in Endgame that made me laugh out loud, and I didn't feel any of it was forced, so long as the characters' dignity still finally shows through. There was a lot I didn't see coming in this film, as was true with Infinity War, and that is another facet of these films I appreciate. After reading Marvel comics for 50+ years, the risk is always being predictable, but they somehow keep enough twists and turns in their plots so they remain fresh. And this time, they never even let you catch your breath the whole way through. So, I give this an enthusiastic 5 stars, with one caveat: at the very least, see Infinity Wars before Endgame, or it will make it very difficult to understand the goings-on here. However, you will appreciate these movies far more, and truly understand the paths the characters take, if you see them all. (And see them in order!) Give them the time this amazing cycle of stories deserves. It will be a great investment into what has become our modern mythology.

A Remarkable Culmination in Cinematic Achievement

This movie is the darkest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and the most epic in terms of scope and the threat that harms the world. This movie is not only a great movie, but a monumnental achievement and testament to Marvel's ability to realize its incredible vision. After 10 years and 19 movies Marvel has clearly shown that they know how to bring in hardcore and casual fans to the movies to see heroes dressed up in tights and saving the world. If you have been following this series and have watched most to all of the previous 18 MCU, this is a very satisfying payoff movie as it follows most of the heroes in the MCU. The Russos really outdid themselves, and through incredible editing and story telling they managed to tell a cohesive story that juggled numerous characters. Though there were so many characters in this movie, the movie gave most of the characters great moments. The standouts were probably Zoe Saldana as Gamora, and Josh Brolin as Thanos. You believed their relationship as daughter and father respectively and you felt the emotional consequences of their relationship and what that relationship entailed. This was also Thanos' movie. He is without a doubt, my favorite villain in the MCU now and he is up there with Jordan's Killmonger, Hiddleston's Loki, and Keaton's Vulture. Brolin exudes such confidence, ferocity, and charisma in his performance that he sells the fact that he really believes what he is doing is right no matter how evil he seemed. I actually found myself agreeing with some of Thanos' reasonings at some points of the movie. This was an unconventional narrative driven movie. It truly stands as a monument to Marvel's ability to deliver a different and unconventional comic book movie experience, and many studios will come to look at this as a paragon of how to do a payoff movie in a series. Many may even compare this to "Lord of the Rings: Two Towers" (2002), or "Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back" (1980) in its structure, but I believe this movie even stands apart from those movies. The only drawbacks that I saw was the fact that if this was your first MCU movie you will have no idea who the characters were and will be lost when watching this movie. Also, because there are so many characters in the movie some major characters don't get a chance to show up and get more moments, but I expected this going in. Truly, not only a great comic book movie, but an incredible movie watching experience.

A Fantastic Culimantion To the MCU

Avengers: Endgame is easily the most emotional and landmark film of the Marvel Cinematic universe to date and lives up to its reputation. Many of the scenes shot in IMAX are what benefit most from the 4K Upgrade and really help enhance the movie watching experience in your home theater set up. The set comes packed with 3 discs, including the 4K feature film disc, a regular blu ray disc, and a special features disc. You also get a free digital redemption code. Packed with over an hour of special features, there’s a lot to enjoy with this release. Much of it is vey retrospective and focuses on the MCU as a whole and not really this standalone film. But it’s a great nostalgic look back at this amazing universe we entered into 11 years ago.

I'm not going to give you a plot synopsis or tell you anything about any scene in the movie. If you're reading a review of Avengers: Endgame, and you haven't been in a coma for 10 years, you have some idea of what this movie is about and who's involved. If you've been following the entire Marvel Movie saga from Iron Man up until Infinity War, and have seen every episode that has links to the Infinity War saga (Fantastic 4 (original with Chris Evans and the remake without) and X-Men never did, so we're not counting those here), and you've been trying to avoid Endgame spoilers everywhere you go because you didn't go see it in theaters (don't feel bad - I didn't either), all you need to know is this: In its opening weekend, it made 1.2 billion dollars. Billion. With a "B". Anywhere from 1/2 to 1/3 of that was due to REPEAT VIEWERS. People who paid to watch it again, and sometimes again, and even again in some cases. Now, you can either take that to mean there are a lot of nerds with disposable income, or you can take it to mean it actually EARNED 1.2 BILLION U.S. DOLLARS in a 3-day period. You know who else makes money that fast? Petroleum companies and banks. Stop reading reviews, and buy - buy this movie. You will not be disappointed.
